        Protection of Incumbent Services and Its Impact on Coverage of TV Band Device Networks in TV White Space

        This paper presents a set of candidate regulatory requirements for TV band devices (TVBDs) in the Rep. of Korea. To guarantee the protection of incumbent services, especially digital TV (DTV) and wireless microphones, in TV frequency bands, we suggest minimum separation distances of TVBDs from the noise-limited contour according to incumbent users and TVBD types. This paper also deals with multiple sets of separation distances of a co-channel TVBD network from a DTV protected contour on the basis of the radio propagation characteristics of different geographic areas to make good use of TV white space (TVWS) and safely protect the DTV service. We present a low-power transmission mode of TVBDs and the relevant separation distances for small-cell deployment. The service coverage reduction ratio of a TVBD network is investigated in the presence of DTV interference in four geographic areas. The TVWS field verification results, conducted on the island of Jeju (Rep. of Korea), show that incumbent services operate well without harmful interference from neighboring TVBDs with the proposed separation distances.

        This article presents low altitude small drone identification trends at home and abroad. To reduce the dysfunction caused by the proliferation of drones worldwide, there is a growing interest in remote identification technologies that can identify the basic information of the drone. First, this article introduces policy trends in major countries. US, Europe, and China have recently provided recommendations regarding technologies available for the remote identification and tracking of a drone. Next, standardization activities on identification communications and identification systems are introduced. For this, standards organizations for the small drone identification, such as the International Organization for Standardization, IEEE 802, Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics, International Civil Aviation Organization, and $3^{rd}$ Generation Partnership Project, are investigated. Finally, drone identification technology trends are introduced. In the US and Europe, various drone identification technologies have been studied to identify a drone owner and drone registration information with a drone identifier. In South Korea, drone identification technology is still in its infancy, whereas drone detection and physical counterattack technologies are somewhat more developed. As such, major drone manufacturers are also currently studying and developing drone identification systems.

        Implementation of Filter Bank–Based RF Transceiver for TV White Space

        This paper presents a general-purpose design scheme of a filter bank (FB)–based radio frequency (RF) transceiver that operates across the entire ultra-high frequency (UHF) TV band from 470 MHz to 698 MHz and complies with the TV white space (TVWS) regulatory requirements. To this end, an intermediate frequency (IF) band-pass filter (BPF) with a sharp skirt characteristic is considered as a solution for handling the incoming signals from a baseband modem. Specifically, an FB-based BPF structure with four ceramic resonator filters that effectively rejects unwanted signals is proposed to extract a desired signal in the TV band. Achievable data rates of a cognitive radio system (CRS) employing the proposed FB-based RF transceiver at the application layer are investigated in both wired and wireless environments. The service coverage of the CRS network is measured according to several modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) of the CRS. The results show that the coverage of a wireless network in a nearly open area can be extended by more than 9.3 km in the TVWS. Experimental results also confirm that the proposed FB-based RF transceiver is adequate for utilization in TVWS applications.

        산초분말을 첨가한 닭가슴살 소시지의 품질특성

        This study examined the quality characteristics of chicken breast emulsion-type sausages manufactured with different contents of Zanthoxylum schinifolium (Z.S.) powder (0, 1, 2 and 3%). The changes to the samples upon inclusion of Z.S. powder were monitored by measuring the proximate composition, pH, color, cooking yield, viscosity, texture profile analysis and protein solubility. The sausages manufactured with increasing amounts of Z.S. powder showed a decrease significantly in fat content (p<0.05), whereas the ash content increased. The pH of the cooked samples also decreased significantly with the increasing content of Z.S. powder (p<0.05). Before and after cooked lightness significantly decreased as the Z.S. powder content increased (p<0.05). The redness of the cooked samples also increased significantly with an increasing amount of Z.S. powder (p<0.05). Samples that contained 2% and 3% of Z.S. powder resulted in a significantly larger cooking yield compared to the control sample and the one containing 1% of Z.S. powder (p<0.05). The viscosity of the uncooked samples also increased with increasing amount of Z.S. powder. Furthermore, the samples containing 3% of Z.S. powder showed significantly lower levels of hardness and springiness than the control sample (p<0.05). In addition, the sample with 3% of Z.S. powder contained showed significantly higher total protein and myofibrillar protein levels than the other samples (p<0.05). Overall, the 3% of Z.S. powder chicken breast emulsion-type sausage performed well in most quality characteristic categories, and this formulation would be suitable for use in food manufacturing. 본 실험의 목적은 산초 분말의 첨가량이 닭가슴살 소시지의 품질 특성에 미치는 영향을 일반성분, pH, 색도, 가열수율, 점도, texture profile analysis(TPA), 단백질 용해성을 측정하여 연구하였다. 실험 결과 지방과 회분 함량은 처리구에서 산초 분말의 첨가량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다(p<0.05). 가열 후 pH는 산초 분말의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 감소하는 추세를 보였다(p<0.05). 색도는 가열 전후 명도의 값이 유의적으로 감소하는 경향을 나타내었고(p<0.05), 적색도는 가열 후 유의적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다(p<0.05). 가열수율은 대조구와 1% 처리구보다 2%, 3% 처리구에서 유의적으로 높은 수치를 보였다(p<0.05). 겉보기 점도의 평균은 산초 분말 첨가량이 증가할수록 함께 증가하는 결과를 보였다. TPA에서는 3% 처리구가 경도와 탄력성에서 대조구보다 유의적으로 낮은 값을 나타냈다(p<0.05). Total protein solubility와 myofibrillar protein solubility에서는 3% 처리구가 대조구와 2% 처리구에 비해 유의적으로 높은 값을 보였다(p<0.05). 따라서 본 연구에서 산초 분말의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 닭가슴살 소시지의 적색도, 점도, 가열수율, 단백질 용해성이 증가하는 경향을 나타내어, 닭가슴살 소시지에서 색도 증진 목적의 산초 분말 첨가는 발색효과와 함께 품질특성의 증진효과를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        흑미 가루를 첨가한 요거트의 항산화 활성과 품질 특성

        This study identified the antioxidant activity (total flavonoid contents, total polyphenol contents, DPPH radical scavenging activity and FRAP assay) and quality properties (pH, color, and viable cell count) of yogurt with various levels of black rice flour. Lightness significantly decreased with increasing black rice flour (p<0.05). On the contrary, redness significantly increased with increasing black rice flour (p<0.05). Viable cell counts of Lactobacillus of treatments (2%, 4% and 6%) were significantly higher than control (p<0.05). As the addition level of black rice flour increased, higher total polyphenol contents and DPPH free radical scavenging activity were observed in samples (p<0.05). Therefore, these results were shown the addition of black rice flour in yogurt is useful to manufacturing healthy functional food.

        This paper, studying about Gwan-a and Hyang-kyo which is in 16 town-walls located in Chung Nam local province, understands the meaning of 'Hyang-gyo' and 'Gwan-A' depending on town-wall from inspecting conditions of location, direction and layout principle by analyzing various peculiarities and proposes the characteristic of 'Gwan-a and Hyang-kyo depending an town-wall located in Chung Nam local province. The results of this paper are as following : 1) The conditions of location of town-walls can be revealed at the function of protection of people and increase of production from the fertile soil and the structure of town-walls were formed with the plan of round or rectangle. 2) Gwan-a which is located inside town-wall make usually the hierarchy system to be placed Gaeg-sa and Dong-hun in direct linear pattern. 3) Hyang-gyo which is located outside tnwn-wall were built to used interdependent method depending on theory of Li-Ki, the type of Jeon Myo HIu EIak and Pungsoo to make ordering principles. 4) The principles can be revealed in Sesan(서산), Taean(태안), Myounchen(면천) town-walls.

        Acute appendicitis is very rare in premature neonates. Preoperative diagnosis of this condition is difficult, and then it leads to high morbidity and mortality. We report 9-day-old premature male with ruptured acute appendicitis presented with pneumoperitoneum on plain films of the abdomen. Awareness of this rare condition and possible differential diagnosis in this age group is also discussed.

        Optimal Time of Initiating Adjuvant Chemotherapy After Curative Surgery in Colorectal Cancer Patients

        Purpose: Adjuvant chemotherapy is routinely recommended for locally advanced colorectal cancer (CRC). There are very few data for the optimal starting date of adjuvant chemotherapy after the surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of earlier adoption of adjuvant chemotherapy after curative surgery for stage III CRC. Methods: In this study, 159 patients with stage III CRC, who had undergone a curative resection, were enrolled retrospectively. Patients were categorized into 3 groups representing different timings to initiate the chemotherapy; less than 2 weeks (group 1), 3 to 4 weeks (group 2), and more than 5 weeks (group 3). The overall survival rate (OS) and the relapse-free survival rate (RFS) were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of adjuvant chemotherapy. Results: The 5-year OSs of the patients were 73.7% in group 1, 67.0% in group 2, and 55.2% in group 3. The 5-year RFSs of the patients were 48.8% in group 1, 64.7% in group 2, and 57.1% in group 3. There were no significant differences in either the OS or the RFS (P = 0.200, P = 0.405). Conclusion: Starting chemotherapy earlier than 6 weeks after surgery does not show any significant difference. Thus, although adjuvant chemotherapy should preferably begin within 6 weeks, the starting date should not necessarily be hastened,and the patient’s general condition should be taken into consideration.
