        Background and Objectives : Cigarette smoking is a major factor and the most modifiable risk factor for atherosclerosis. Endothelial dysfunction is an early event in atherosclerosis, before the structural change of the systemic arteries. We hypothesized that endothelial dysfunction might be present in the systemic arteries of young adult smokers and that this might be dose-dependent phenomenon. Therefore, we try to certify that smoking is associated with endothelial dysfunction in healthy young adults without other risk factor of atherosclerosis. Subjects and Methods : we studied noninvasively 29 subjects aged 3 to 4 decades without other risk factor of atherosclerosis, they were composed of the two groups, current smokers(n=15) and nonsmokers(n=14). Smoking history varied from 3 to 20 pack years. Using high-resolution ultrasound, vessel diameter and mean flow rate were measured at rest, during reactive hyperemia(with flow-mediated endothelium-dependent dilation), and after sublingual nitroglycerin(NG-induced endothelium-independent vasodilation). Result : Flow mediated endothelium dependent dilation was observed in the control subjects (9.4±3.44%) but was impaired in the smokers(5.8±2.51%)(p=0.004). NG-induced endothelium independent dilation is no difference in all subjects. Conclusion : Cigarette smoking is associated with endothelial dysfunction in healthy young adults.

      • Solar urticaria in Korean patients

        Background: Solar urticaria (SU) is an uncommon type of photodermatoses characterized by erythematous wheal with pruritus after sunlight exposure, which shows a female predominance. Only a few studies to analyze the clinical features of SU were reported in Asia. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the clinical and photobiological characteristics of SU in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively investigated the medical records of patients with SU who visited the department of dermatology, Konkuk university medical center from January 2005 to January 2020. Results: Of a total of 44 patients, 36 (81.8%) were male and 8 (18.2%) were female. The mean age at onset was 17.6 years (range, 5-47) and the mean threshold time was 19.7 minutes. Among 32 patients who underwent phototesting, the action spectrum most commonly implicated was ultraviolet (UV) A only in 12 (37.5%), and then visible light (415nm) only was responsible for SU in 8 (25.0%). Three patients (9.4%) were induced by both UVA and visible light (415nm). Even 4 patients (12.5%) were triggered by only natural sunlight. Serum immunoglobulin E levels were measured in 33 patients, and 17 (51.5%) showed values higher than normal. The treatment most widely used were oral antihistamine (43.2%), followed by phototherapy (13.6%). Conclusion: SU is a rare photodermatosis in Korea, which shows a male preponderance. In this study, UVA and visible light (415nm) were predominant action spectrum of SU.

      • 시판우유 및 조제분유의 화학적 성분에 관한 연구

        The study was analyzed to testify the excellency among commercial milk and infant formula. In view of these facts, it is of importance comparing chemical compositions. 5 commercial milk and 3 infant formula were purchased in supermarket. 1.Total nucleic acid concentration in commercial milk and infant formula were 1.43W /V% and 2.62W/V%, respectively. 2.Total free sugar concentration in commercial milk(6. 32W. V%) and infant formula (11.68W/V%). 3.Total amino acid concentration was 2. 86% in commercial milk, and 11. 20% in infant formula. 4.In fatty acids, especially DHA in commercial milk was not detected. 5.Major mineral and trace metal analyzed by ICP after wet digestion. The elements examined in the samples were Ca, Mg, K, P, Na in major mineral and Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb in trace metal. In the most of trace metal, infant formula was higher than commercial milk. Cd and Pb were not detected.

        기업 사이버교육 학습자들의 내적통제소재, 조직의 지원, 학습몰입, 학업지속의향 간의 구조적관계 규명

        본 연구는 기업 사이버교육생을 대상으로 하여 내적통제소재, 조직의 지원, 학습몰입과 학업지속의향 간의 구조적 관계를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 A기업의 2009년 1월 사이버강좌 수강생 447명을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과 내적통제소재와 조직의 지원은 학습몰입에 직접적인 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 내적통제소재와 학습몰입은 학업지속의향에 직접적인 유의한 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 학습몰입은 내적통제소재와 학업지속의향, 조직의 지원과 학업지속의향을 매개하는 변수임을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 내적통제소재가 사이버교육 과정의 교수설계와 개발전략을 위해 고려되어야 하는 변수라는 것과, 조직의 지원이 기업 사이버교육의 효과성을 향상시키는데 있어서 중요한 변수라는 것을 시사한다. 이에 본 연구는 성공적인 사이버교육을 위한 학습전략을 제공하는데 있어서 기초적인 토대를 제공하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다. The purpose of the present study is to verify the structural relationship among internal locus of control, organizational support, flow and learning persistence in Corporate Cyber Education. The subjects were 447 students who participated in A’s corporate cyber courses. A hypothetical model was proposed, which was composed of internal locus of control, organizational support, flow as an extraneous variable, and learning persistence as an endogenous variable. Flow has also been suggested as an intervening endogenous variable. The results of this study through structural equation modeling analysis indicated that both internal locus of control and organizational support significantly affect flow. Also, internal locus of control and flow affected learning persistence significantly. As a result of the Sobel test to examine the significance of the mediation effect, flow was a mediating variable between internal locus of control and learning persistence, organizational support and learning persistence. These results imply that internal locus of control should be considered for the design and development strategies of online courses. Also, organizational support is critical to enhance the effectiveness of corporate cyber education. This study proposes the first step of learning strategies for successful cyber education.

      • 관상 동맥 질환에서 아포 E 지단백 유전자 다형성과 혈청 지질치와의 관계

        Background and aims: The Apolipoprotein E is a ligand of both the protein component LDL receptor as well as the apo E LDL-Receptor related protein (LRP). It modulates the receptor binding of lipoproteins, with the apolipoprotein E found on cell surfaces as its component, thus serving an important role in the lipid metabolism by carrying out the intracellular transport of cholesterol in lipoproteins. The gene for apolipoprotein E is the product of three common genotypes as well as many more rare alleles. The common genotypes are ε2, ε3, and ε4, and are expressed in the three phenotype isoforms of E2, E3, and E4. In the event that E4 is the main component, a rise in the cholesterol level, as the result of down-regulation of the LDL receptor, is observed. Therefore, those samples with E4 genotypes are known to be in much higher risk of coronary artery disease than those with ε3/ε3, while those with ε2 are in low risk (with the exception of hypertiglyceremai Ⅲ). The aim of this study is to analyze in patients with ischemic heart disease the role of aplipoprotein E alleles in order to seek its correlation with coronary artery disease, as well as to seek whether the polymorphism of apo E produces any differences in the severity of coronary artery disease according to plasma lipid levels. Methods: The subjects for study were 273 patients admitted to the Internal Cardiology Division of the Soonchunhyang University Hospital form December 1998 to February 1999. The subjects were divided into the two groups of which one was ischemic heart disease (IHD) experiment group totaling 105 (avg.60.1 years of age, male/female ratio = 69/36) and the control group totaling 168 (avg. 59.7 years of age, male/female = 73:95). The coronary angiogram was given to 127 subjects, and of this total, 94 have developed significant stenosis in the coronary artery. The stages of the analyzing of the apo E phenotype was first, the separation of DNA from the blood samples, subjecting it to the PCR from with 228 base pairs of expanded products were obtained. The band was determined by means of the reverse hybridization principle on the nitrocellulose strip. Results: From the 105 patients the distributions of apo E phenotypes were as follows: ε3/2(5.7%), ε4/2(1.9%), ε3/3(70%), ε4/3(20%), ε4/4(1.9%). The relative frequencies of each allele are as follow: ε2 (0.038), ε3 (0.833), ε4 (0.128). The results show as follows: ⅰ) The IHD experiment group to have a higher occurrence of ε4/3 phenotypes as well as ε4 alleles than the control group. ⅱ) Both the control group and IHD group showed the largest distribution of ε3/3 for phenotypes, and ε4 for alleles. ⅲ) The IHD group showed less ε2/3 phenotypes as well as significantly less allele frequency of ε3 in comparison to the control group. ⅳ) the IHD group showed a much lower level of HDL in comparison to the control group, while the LDL was significantly higher; samples including the apo ε2 showed a significantly higher level of HDL than those without. Among the control group, samples including apo ε2 showed a significantly higher level of TG (triglyceride) than samples without. No significant difference was found between the experiment apo ε4 sample and the control plasma lipid sample. ⅴ) No significant correlation was found between an apo E polynorphism and the number of involved arteries of a coronary angiogram. Conclusion: Between the experiment IHD group and control group were found differences in the frequency of alleles. The polymorphism of apo E alleles may contribute as a risk factor to the development of heart disease by involving itself in the metabolism and modulation of plasma lipids.

      • 근원세포의 융합과 연관된 표면 단백질의 확인

        배양 근원세포 분화에 따른 세포융합에 직접적으로 관여하는 단백질을 찾기 위해 48 시간 배양한 근원세포를 항원으로 BALB/C mouse에 면역시켜 얻은 spleen cell과 myeloma cell(P3U-1)을 융합시켜 근원세포와 반응하는 항체를 분비하는 hybridoma를 얻었다. 세 차례 한계 희석 후 계대배양하여 분리한 clone들이 분비하는 항체를 근원세포 배양액에 첨가하여 근원세포의 융합을 억제하는 효과가 있는 단일클론항체인 MAb MII-3J3l을 얻었다. MAb MII-3J3l의 효과는 2 ㎍/ml의 농도에서 세포분열에 영향이 없이 근원세포의 융합을 완전히 억제하였으며 이 효과는 적어도 48 시간 지속되었고 항체를 제거할 경우 융합이 재개되어 가역적인 억제효과를 나타내었다. MAb MII-3J31이 인지하는 단백질은 38 kDa로 근원세포 표면을 trypsin 처리하였을 때 잘리워 나감으로 표면단백질로 추정된다. The present study describes the production of monoclonal antibodies against cultured chick myoblast to pursue a protein may play a critical function in muscle cell fusion. Among a panel of monoclonal antibodies, MAb MII-3J3l inhibits myoblast fusion completely, while cell growth proceeds normally and its effect is reversible. The antigen reactive with MAb MII-3J31 isolated by radioimmunoprecipitation and detected by immunoblot was found a 38 kDa protein. For trypsin-treated cell lost its antigenic determinant, the protein may be located in the cell surface.

      • 막걸리와 물의 첨가비율에 따른 증편의 품질특성

        본 연구는 막걸리와 물의 첨가비율을 달리하여 증편을 만들어 품질 특성을 검토하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 증편의 부피변화에서 막걸리 30% 첨가군에서 가장 높게 나타나 발효가 잘 된 것으로 나타났고(p<.0001), 높이에서도 부피가 가장 많이 증가했던 막걸리 30%첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.0001). 2. 증편의 pH와 당도변화에서는 pH는 발효가 진행됨에 따라 낮아지는 경향을 보였으며 (p<.0001) 각각의 조건에서 모두 유사함을 나타냈는데 막걸리 함량이 많이 첨가될수록 낮아지는 경향을 보여주었다. 당도에서는 모든 막걸리 첨가군에서 발효시간에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보이다가 감소하였다(p<.0001). 3. 증편의 texture측정에서 견고성(p<.0001), 파쇄성(p<.05), 응집성(p<.05), 껌성(p<.0001),은 막걸리의 첨가량이 증가할수록 유의적으로 높게 나타났고, 반면에 부착성은 막걸리 50%첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.05). 탄력성은 막걸리 30% 첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.05), 4. 증편의 관능적 특성에서 색의 강도와 기공의 균일한 정도는 첨가군들간의 유의적인 차이를 보였으며, 색은 막걸리 50%첨가군이, 기공의 균일도는 막걸리 30% 첨가군에서 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.0001). Texture에서 부착성(p<.0001)과 탄력성(p<.001)은 첨가군들 간의 유의적인 차이가 나타났고, 그중에서도 막걸리 50% 첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났다. 향미에서는 단맛는 막걸리 60% 첨가군이, 신맛과 술 냄새에서는 막걸리 50% 첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났고, 각각의 첨가군들 간에 유의적인 차이를 보였다(p<.0001). 전체적인 기호도에서는 texture에서 촉촉함, 부착성, 탄력성이 가장 높게 나타난 막걸리 50% 첨가군이 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.001). 5. 기계적 검사와 관능검사간의 상관관계에서 기계적 검사의 견고성은 관능검사의 기공의 균일한 정도와 부의 상관관계를 나타내었고(p<.01), 쓴맛과는 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.05). 파쇄성은 기공의 균일한 정도와 부의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.05). 부착성은 색의 강도, 촉촉함, 탄력성과 높은 부의 상관관계를 나타내었고(p<.01), 부착성과는 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.05). 탄력성은 색의 강도, 촉촉함, 탄력성과 부의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.05). 껌성은 기공의 균일한 정도와 부의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 탄력성은 전체적인 기호도와는 부의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 6. 기계적 검사간의 상관관계에서 견고성은 파쇄성(p<.05), 껌성(p<.0001)과 높은 상관관계를 나타내었고, 파쇄성는 껌성과 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.01). 부착성은 탄력성과 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다(p<.001), 이상의 결과에서 막걸리와 물의 비율을 달리한 증편의 제조에서 이화학적 특성, 기계적 특성, 관능적 특성을 종합했을때 막걸리 50%첨가군에서 품질이 향상됨을 착인할 수 있었고, 현대인의 기호도를 고려하여 막걸리를 사용함으로써 나타나는 특유의 술 냄새와 신맛을 최소화하기 위한 개발이 요구되어 진다. Jeungpyun was prepared with different ratios of makkulli leaven to water in other to examine the changes in its quality characteristics. The results on the heiht and volume of the samples showed that Jeungpyun prepared with the 30% makkulli showed the highest degree of fermentation. As fermentation continued, pH and saccarinity of Jeungpyun batters droped. As the makkulli ratio incresed, L value was decreased; however, a value and b value were increased. In texture profile analysis, the hardness, fracturability, cohesiveness and gumminess were increased as addition of makkulli was increased, but adhesiveness, springness were decreased. In the sensory test, the 50% makkulli had the strongest color according to the texture, the cell uniformity was shown in the 30% makkulli; the highest adhesiveness and springness were shown in the 50% makkulli. As for flavor, the sweetness was shown in the 60% makkulli and the alcohol smell, sourness were shoen in the 50% makkulli. In the result of the overall desirability test, the 50% makkulli showed the highest values. From the results of this experiment, the 50% makkulli mas the optimum concentrations for the observed improvements in the quality.
