Departing from the overly development-skewed urban policies, nowadays, Korea has to tackle unprecedented social matters, primarily originating from dynamic changes of demographic structure and dampened real estate market. Confronted with low marketability and demand reduction, the number of the abandoned and incomplete buildings in Korea has shown ever-increasing trends and it is almost certain that the situation in the future would be worsened. These buildings have been regarded as the typical social stigma, exerting negative impact on the various social issues. That is, they have become the main target of criticism as they have strengthened negative images from the urban landscape perspectives, even threatening daily lives of citizens from the urban amenity and safety dimensions. After diagnosing physical and non-physical conditions as well as institutional arrangements related to the abandoned and incomplete buildings in Korea, this research presents major points derived from the interdisciplinary approaches including ownership surveys, statistical analyses, case studies, and interviews. From the legal and institutional aspects, it also provides a series of effective improvement alternatives geared towards prevention and rearrangement measures against the abandoned and incomplete buildings.
IEEE 802.16e 초기 레인징을 위한 상호 상관 누적 기반 타이밍 옵셋 추정 기법

In this paper, we propose a timing offset estimation scheme for initial ranging of IEEE 802.16e systems. The conventional scheme estimates the timing offset by using the cross-correlation between the local and received signals only. On the other hand, this paper proposes a timing offset estimation scheme with additional cross-correlations accumulated on the conventional cross-correlation. The additional cross-correlations are obtained by using the ranging signal with a repetitive structure. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme provides the better timing offset estimation performance compared with that of the conventional scheme. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.16e 초기 레인징을 위한 타이밍 옵셋 추정 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 연구에서는 수신 신호와 국부 (local) 신호의 상호 상관값만을 이용하여 타이밍 옵셋을 추정하였으나, 본 논문에서는 레인징 신호가 반복하여 전송된다는 특성을 이용하여 추가적인 상호 상관을 구하여 누적함으로써 상호 상관 함수의 main peak과 side peak의 전력 차이를 증가시킨다. 또한 모의실험을 통해 제안한 기법이 기존의 기법에 비해 우수한 타이밍 옵셋 추정 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

본 논문에서 살펴보고자 하는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 농촌지역사회 발전을 위한 과제 중 하나인 농촌 지역사회의 교육문제에 대한 의미를 살펴본다. 둘째, 학생 수가 적은 작은 규모 학교들을 폐교시키는 것과 활성화시키는 것이 농촌 지역사회에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 살펴본다. 셋째, 학교가 농촌 지역사회의 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 하기 위해서 학교의 조직 및 기능과 운영방식이 어떻게 재 조직화되어야 할 것인지에 대해서 살펴본다.
Re-Examining Growth in the EU :FDI-led or Export-led?

In this study, we test an important policy question, whether or how FDI or export induces economic growth. Our study differs from other studies in two aspects. One is the use of a rich panel data which covers EU15’s 1970-2009 period to test the impact of FDI on economic growth. The other is an attempt to additionally test whether the EU enlargement process account for GDP growth. We estimate several specifications using our panel data, such as fixed effect and instrumental variable estimations, and test whether an increase in FDI, export or both increase induces a corresponding increase in GDP and, if it does, how much it does. According to our regression results, an increase of either FDI or export does lead to an increase in GDP, but the income growth is not elastic with respect to FDI and export. In our data, Granger causality test significantly reject that FDI do not Granger cause GDP.
Scaling Behaviors of Plant-Pollinator Mutualistic Networks

We consider three plant-pollinator mutualistic networks, including a montane forest, a beech forest and a meadow. The plant and the pollinator connect by links of interacting strengths between species. We obtained cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) of the degree and the strength for the networks. The CDFs of the degree for all species, pollinators and plant, follow a power law or a stretched exponential function. The CDF of the degree for a meadow food web, MEM food web (Mommett 1999), is well fitted by a stretched exponential function. However, the CDF of the degree for the montane forest food web, INO food web (Inouye and Pkye 1998) and for the beech forest food web, KAT food web (Kato et al. 1990) show a power law. The CDFs of the strength also follow a power law, except for the CDF of the pollinator for the KAT food web. The CDFs of the degree and the strength for mutualistic networks depend on the types and the locations of the food webs.
