        The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the management of Taekwondo-jang in the Province of Chonnam and to present an effective strategy to increase consumers. Survey method was used for this study. Total of 50 subjects were selected. To compare management of their facilities, the subjects were divided into 2 groups, the well managed and the poor managed, based on the number of students, frequency of instructor’s participating in educational meeting and frequency of student’s participating in competition, This grouping was based on the opinion of the Chonnam Taekwondo Association director. The questionnaire consisted of the total number of 33 questions. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistic method, percentage, frequency, Chi-square and Discriminant Analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, there was no significant difference between the well managed facilities and the poor managed facilities in term of instructors’ demographical characteristics, while there was a statistically significant difference (p<5) in term of the educational experience ; that is, the well managed have the higher educational experience. Second, the well managed facilities were mainly located in the apartment-shopping area, while the poor managed were mainly located in the residence district. The average area of the well managed was 17.41㎡, while the poor 13.16㎡. Third, the well managed mainly used the computer programs to manage the students, while the poor used the book. The average number of the well managed were 133 students, while the poor were 59 students.

        A synchronous generator is equipped with an automatic voltage regulator(AVR), which is responsible for keeping the output voltage constant under normal operating conditions at various levels. The output voltage of Synchronous Generator is regulated constantly by field voltage control in excitation system. High frequency PWM converter (Buck converter) type excitation system for synchronous generator that can sustain proper output voltage level even at the fault condition happened. The proper operation of the proposed excitation system was verified through the simulations and the experiments.

      • 유전자 재조합 인간 성장호르몬(rhGH)이 NK 세포의 활성에 미치는 영향

        To evaluate the acute effect of recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH) on the activity of natural killer(NK) cell in children, we selected 6 patients of growth hormone deficient and 5 normal control children. In both groups, 0.15 IU/kg of rhGH was administered subcutaneously. The plasma growth hormone level were measured by radioimmunoassay on 0, 2, and 6 hours after administration of rhGH. To determine NK cell activity, peripheral blood mononuclear cell were separated by Ficoll-Hypaque gradient sedimentation. After this, varying concentration of viable effector cells in complete medium were added to duplicate culture of target cells(the human erythroleukemia cell line, K562) and we measured the LDH released from the cytosol into 16 hours culture medium. The average paasma level of growth hormone of growth hormone deficient and normal group were increased to the level of 41.6±23.7 and 96.3±46.5 ng/ml 2 hours after rhGH injection respectively and decreased to the level of 18.510.6 and 42.2± 5.5 ng/ ml 6 hours after rhGH injection respectively. In 16 hours_ culture medium, percent cytotoxicity of NK cell was significantly increased in the blood samples of control groups. It seemed that administration of the rhGH do not made a any effects acutely on NK cell activity in growth hormone deficient group. But in a normal control children, external administration of growth hormone increased percent cytotoxicity of NK cell activity.

      • Qi(氣) 운동이 인간의 호흡순환계 변인에 미치는 영향

        This study aimed at the effects both on the cardoirespiratory variables changes and on the motor performance capacity after practicing Qi exercise. The test of basic motor performance capacity was operated by means of stress test(CardiO2 Gas Analyzer). Qi exercise mrthod was as follows; all the subjects practiced Qi exercise of one years. As a result of the changes of cardiorespiratory system, we got to the conclusion as follows; As a result of Qi exercise, maximal heart rate of post-exercise compared with pre-exercise was decreased at the rate of 46%(P>.05). The exercise intensity of Qi exercise was 12.94% level of maximal heart rate by the test of basic motor performance capacity.

      • 한국의 기수련이 심장박동간격변화에 미치는 영향

        심장박동간격은 최근 교감신경과 부교감신경의 안정을 알아보는 척도로 쓰이고 있다. 본 연구는 4~12개월 천도선법 기수련을 행한 20대의 20명의 기수련자와 동일 연령층의 20명의 일반인을 대상으로 하여 1시간 동안 천도선법을 수행하게 하여 전, 참선, 후의 심장박동을 생리 기록계로 측정을 하여 빠른 퓨리에 변환 (FFT)을 통하여 심장박동간격을 조사하였다. 그 결과 자율신경제의 안정척도인 저주파수 적분 값과 고주파수 적분 값의 비(LF/HF)가 수련전과 수련 중에서 천도선법 기수련생들의 값이 일반인과 비교하여 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 났으며 (p<0. 01) 특히 두 그룹 모두 HF 의 값이 유의하게 변화하는 것을 보았을 때 천도선법 기수련이 부교감신경의 활동을 조절하여 자율신경계를 안정화 시킨다는 것을 보여주었다. The effects of ChunDoSunBup (CDSB) Qi-training on the power spectrum of heart rate variability were studied in 20 healthy subjects and 20 CDSB Qi-trainee (subjects with CDSB Qi-training for 4-12 months) Continuous ECG signals were recorded during 1) 10 min of rest in sitting position, 2) 1 hour of CDSB Qi-training , 3) 10 min of post-training. Fast Fourier transformation was used to determine the power spectrum of heart rate variability While CDSB Qi-training, there were significant decrease in the ratio of low to high frequency power spectrum. And value of pre and mild-training in CDSB Qi-trainees were lower than that of control subjects There was a significant changes in high frequency power of both group, but net in low frequency These results suggest that CDSB Qi-training may stabilize autonomic nervous system by modulate parasympathetic nervous system.

        The merlin tumor suppressor interacts with Ral guanine nucleotide dissociation stimulator and inhibits its activity

        Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is the most commonly mutated gene in benign tumors of the human nervous system such as schwannomas and meningiomas. The NF2 gene encodes a protein called schwannomin or merlin, which is involved in regulating cell growth and proliferation through protein–protein interactions with various cellular proteins. In order to better understand the mechanism by which merlin exerts its function, yeast two-hybrid screening was performed and Ral guanine nucleotide dissociation stimulator (RalGDS), a downstream molecule of Ras, was identified as a merlin-binding protein. The direct interaction between merlin and RalGDS was confirmed both in vitro and in the NIH3T3 cells. The domain analyses revealed that the broad C-terminal region of merlin (aa 141–595) is necessary for the interaction with the C-terminal Ras-binding domain (RBD) of RalGDS. Functional studies showed that merlin inhibits the RalGDS-induced RalA activation, the colony formation and the cell migration in mammalian cells. These results suggest that merlin can function as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting the RalGDS-mediated oncogenic signals.Oncogene (2005) 24, 5355–5364. doi:10.1038/sj.onc.1208633; published online 27 June 2005

      • 혈액투석중인 말기신부전 환자에서 Fludrocortisone acetate (FCA) 투여 후 혈청 칼륨 저하 효과

        Background: Hyperkalemia is a commonly encountered problem in dialysis patients with end-stage renal disease. In this study we evaluated the effect of mineralocorticoid therapy (fludrocortisono acetate) on serum potassium level in the serum of hyperkalemic end-stage renal disease patients. Methods: Fourteen patients on hemodialysis receiving fludrocortisone acetate (FCA) 0.1 mg/day were observed for 2 months periods. Consecutive monthly biochemical profiles were compared for the druration of the pre-and post-treatment of FCA. Result: Fourteen patients with mean age (±SE) of 51.5 years (4 males and 10 females) and mean hemodialysis period of 51.9 months were studied. Mean serum potassium levels significantly fell (p<0.05) during the post-FCA period (5.2±0.66 mEq/L) compared with potassium levels during the pre-FCA (5.8±0.43 mEq/L) period. Pre-and post-FCA values were not different for sodium, chloride, protein, albumin, AST/ALT, glucose, blood nitrogen, creatinine, phosphate and calcium. Conclusions: FCA appears to decrease serum potassium value in patients with end-stage renal disease. These results suggested that FCA could be effective to treat hyperkalemia without any adverse effect in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

        A Surfactant-based Method for Carbon Coating of LiNi<sub>0.8</sub>Co<sub>0.15</sub>Al<sub>0.05</sub>O<sub>2</sub> Cathode in Li Ion Batteries

        A $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ (LNCAO/C) active material composite cathode was coated with carbon. The conductive carbon coating was obtained by addition of surfactant during synthesis. The addition of surfactant led to the formation of an amorphous carbon coating layer on the pristine LNCAO surface. The layer of carbon coating was clearly detected by FE-TEM analysis. In electrochemical performance, although the LNCAO/C showed similar capacity at low C-rate conditions, the rate capability was improved by the form of the carbon coating at high current discharge state. After 40 cycles of charge-discharge processes, the capacity retention of LNCAO/C was better than that of LNCAO. The carbon coating is effectively protected the surface structure of the pristine LNCAO during Li insertion-extraction.

        Kinetics of lipid raft formation at lipid monolayer-bilayer junction probed by surface plasmon resonance

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A label-free, non-dispruptive, and real-time analytical device to monitor the dynamic features of biomolecules and their interactions with neighboring molecules is an essential prerequisite for biochip- and diagonostic assays. To explore one of the central questions on the lipid-lipid interactions in the course of the liquid-ordered (<I>l</I> <SUB> <I>o</I> </SUB>) domain formation, called rafts, we developed a method of reconstituting continuous but spatially heterogeneous lipid membrane platforms with molayer-bilayer juntions (MBJs) that enable to form the <I>l</I> <SUB> <I>o</I> </SUB> domains in a spatiotemporally controlled manner. This allows us to detect the time-lapse dynamics of the lipid-lipid interactions during raft formation and resultant membrane phase changes together with the raft-associated receptor-ligand binding through the surface plasmon resonance (SPR). For cross-validation, using epifluorescence microscopy, we demonstrated the underlying mechanisms for raft formations that the infiltration of cholesterols into the sphingolipid-enriched domains plays a crucial roles in the membrane phase-separation. Our membrane platform, being capable of monitoring dynamic interactions among lipids and performing the systematic optical analysis, will unveil physiological roles of cholesterols in a variety of biological events.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Continuous but spatially heterogeneous membranes were probed by the SPR for monitoring the kinetic behavior of lipid-lipid interactions </LI> <LI> The accompanying biochemical activity of ligand-receptor binding.
