        A Procedure for Determining Time-of-Day Break Points for Coordinated Actuated Traffic Signal Systems

        This paper presents the development and evaluation of a procedure for determining optimal break points for time-of-day basedcoordinated actuated traffic signal operations. The proposed procedure uses a feature vector of optimal cycle length per time intervalinstead of traffic volume itself. Initial break points determined by the proposed feature vector are used in the greedy search algorithmthe number of evaluations in the search are dramatically reducedwhen compared to an exhaustive search or other common heuristic search methods such as a genetic algorithm. The proposedprocedure was evaluated using a hypothetical network consisting of four signalized intersections and the results indicated that theproposed procedure effectively improved the performance of the coordinated actuated signal control. In addition, sensitivity analysesresults on randomly varying demand conditions up to 20% and randomly increased demand conditions up to 30% indicated that thenewly developed break points were robust for such varying demand fluctuations.

        A Study on the Construction of Moving Route Information Sharing System of COVID-19 Confirmed Cases

        본 논문에서는 COVID-19 확진자의 이동경로 정보를 데이터 표준화 및 품질관리 기반으로 구축 및 관리하고 활용 할 수 있는 체계 개발을 위한 연구 수행 내용과 실제 시스템을 통해 구축한 데이터에 대한 분석 결과를 제시하였다. 해외 국가들과는 달리 우리나라는 적극적인 감염병 방역을 위해 감염병 예방법을 근거로 확진환자에 대한 빠른 역학조사와 함께 확진자의 이동경로 정보를 지방자치단체별로 적극 공개하고 있다. 하지만 국내 지자체별 제공 정보의 비표준화로 정보의 통합적인 관리와 공유 및 활용이 쉽지 않은 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 COVID-19 확진자 이동경로 DB 구축 및 제공 절차를 재난안전정보 공유 플랫폼을 기반으로 정립하고 데이터 가공 지침, 표준 항목이 적용된 데이터 입력시스템, 데이터 제공 오픈 API 서비스 개발을 통해 COVID19 확진자 이동경로 정보 공유 체계를 구축하였다. 플랫폼 기반의 COVID-19 확진자 이동경로 정보 공유 체계는 다른 감염병 사례에도 적용 가능하므로 지속적으로 발생하는 감염병 재난 대응 및 예방에 활용 및 보탬이 되길 기대한다. This study developed a system that can collect, manage, and utilize the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the data standardization and quality management principles and presented the analysis data collected from the existing system. Unlike many other countries in the world, Korea demonstrated a rapid response by conducting epidemiological investigations. Further, the local governments have actively shared the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 to facilitate proactive prevention of the infectious disease per the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Law. However, currently, there is no standard protocol for the local governments to share the information, thus complicating the process of sharing, managing, and utilizing the collected data. Therefore, this study developed a system that can facilitate sharing of the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 by establishing database construction procedures and using the travel route of COVID-19 patients as per the Disaster & Safety Information Sharing Platform and developing a data processing guideline, a data entry system with default templates, and Open API. Although this sharing system was designed to communicate the travel routes of COVID-19 patients, it can also be utilized in case of other infectious diseases. Therefore, it can be used as a response strategy for future outbreaks of infectious diseases.

        Analysis of SCI Journals Cited by Korean Journals in the Computer field

        4차 산업혁명의 핵심 학문인 컴퓨터 분야에서 생산되는 연구성과물에 대한 활용 정보자원의 분석 및 제공은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 국내 컴퓨터분야 학술지 수록 논문들에서 인용한 국제과학기술인용색인인 SCI 학술지들을 식별하여 피인용 현황과 이들의 동시인용 관계를 네트워크로 생성하여 분석하고 지도화하여 시각화하는 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 기반 데이터로 KSCD의 발행연도 기준 2015년부터 2017년까지의 논문 및 참고문헌 데이터를 활용하였고 학술지 동시인용기법과 네트워크 중심성 분석기법을 사용하였다. 연구 수행 결과, 국내 컴퓨터 분야 학술지 논문들이 인용한 SCI 학술지 및 논문들의 피인용 순위와 인용나이 분석을 통한 인용절정기(2년), 인용반감기(6.6년), 즉시인용율(2.4%)이 파악되었다. 네트워크 중심성 분석결과 피인용 SCI 학술지들에 대한 연결정도, 사이, 근접중심성 지표가 측정되어 지표별 학술지 순위가 측정되었으며 네트워크의 지도화를 통한 시각화를 통해 피인용 SCI 학술지 간 주제분류 간의 관계성을 파악하였다. It is very important to analyze and provide information resources for research output produced in the computer field, the core science of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In this paper, SCI journals cited from domestic journals in the computer field were identified and the citation rankings and their co-citation networks were generated, analyzed, mapped and visualized. For this, the bibliographic and citation index information from 2015 to 2017 in the KSCD were used as the basis data, and the co-citation method and network centrality analysis were used. As a result of this study, the number of citations and the citation ranks of SCI journals and papers cited by korean journals in the computer field were analyzed, and peak time(2 years), half-life(6.6 years), and immediacy citation rate(2.4%) were measured by citation age analysis. As a result of network centrality analysis, Three network centralities(degree, betweenness, closeness) of the cited SCI journals were calculated, and the ranking of journals by each network centrality was measured, and the relationship between the subject classifications of the cited SCI journals was visualized through the mapping of the network.

        Online Implementation of DynaMIT: A Prototype Traffic Examination and Prediction Program

        This paper presents a pilot study of conducting an online implementation of DynaMIT, one of traffic estimation and prediction(TrEP) programs developed by an MIT research team with the support from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, in HamptonRoads, VA, U.S.A. As a first step, a test-bed network was cbefore evaluating the performance of the online implementation of DynaMIT. Based on the online implementation of DynaMIT forthree days, it was found that DynaMIT showed fairly good performance on the estimation and prediction of the sensor counts withthe root mean square normalized (RMSN) error ranges betwen 0.15 and 0.25 for estimations, and 0.25 and 0.4 for predictions. Eventhough speed and travel times showed some discrepancies, further investigations indicated that the performance of DynaMIT can besignificantly improved with adequately calibrated supply parameters.

      • The Study on the Launch of Farmland Reverse Mortgage for the Welfare of the Rural Elderly in South Korea

        This study aims to launch farmland reverse mortgage for the welfare of the elderly in rural area by liquidating the farmland which produces little product or left uncultivated due to the labor shortage though the farmland value is relatively high for the first time around the world. We build the actuarial model based on Housing Equity Conversion Mortgage(HECM) model suggested by Rodda et al(2000;2003). Basic factors such as interest rates and farmland value rising rates, which are applied to the actuarial model for estimating a constant monthly payment that the borrowers can gain under the condition that Present Value of Estimated Loss(PVEL) is equal to Present Value of Mortgage Insurance Premium(PVMIP), are elaborated with historical data. Based on the established model, monthly payment is calculated according to the borrower’s age and her farmland value using trial and error method. Then risk that the lender bears depending on the fluctuation of interest rates is predicted. We provide one more policy option for the elderly in rural area that covers the deficiency which is not fulfilled by existing national pension services, basic old age pension, and other government welfare policies by suggesting the initiation of FRM.

      • Design and fabrication of a locomotive mechanism for capsule-type endoscopes using shape memory alloys (SMAs)

        <P>Endoscopes are medical devices to diagnose various kinds of diseases throughout the whole gastrointestinal tracks. Generally, they are divided into conventional push-type endoscopes and more recently developed wireless capsule-type endoscopes. The conventional endoscopes cannot reach the small intestines and generate pain and discomfort to patients due to the stiffness of their body. Such disadvantages do not exist in wireless capsule-type endoscopes. However, commercialized capsule-type endoscopes move passively by peristaltic waves (and the gravity), which makes it impossible for doctors to diagnose the areas of his or her interest more thoroughly and actively. To address this problem of passivity, a locomotive mechanism is proposed for wireless capsule-type endoscopes. Prototypes with micro brushless dc motors, ionic polymer metal composite actuator, and shape memory alloy (SMA) wires are designed and fabricated for preliminary tests. Based on the tests, spring-type SMA actuators are selected to be microactuators for capsule endoscopes. Thus, two-way linear actuators using a pair of SMA springs are developed based on a static analysis on them. Moreover, a simple and effective clamping device is developed based on biomimetic approach. A prototype endoscope with four pairs of SMA springs and four clampers was developed. It has 13 mm in diameter and 33 mm in total length, with a hollow space of 7.6 mm in diameter to house other parts that are needed for endoscopy such as a camera, an RF module, sensors, e.g., for endoscopic ultrasound, and a battery. A sequential control of the four actuators improves the efficiency of locomotion up to four times. To validate the performance of the proposed locomotive mechanism, a series of experiments were carried out including in-vitro tests. The results of the experiments indicate that the proposed locomotion mechanism is effective to be used for micro capsule-type endoscopes.</P>
