        Effects of Aqueous Extract of Schizandrae Fructus on Lead-Induced Change of Monoamine Neurotransmitters in Hippocampus

        The effects of aqueous extract of Schizandrae Fructus (AESC) on lead (Pb)-induced changes of monoamine neurotransmitters in the hippocampus (HIP) of adult rats were investigated. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were received intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of Pb acetate (5 mg/kg/d) for 28 days and sacrificed 7 days after the last administration. Concentrations of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT), 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid (5-HIAA) in HIP were measured by HPLC. There were significant decreases of NE, DA, 5-HT and 5-HIAA in Pb treated rats (P < 0.05), while pretreatment with AESC (100 mg/kg/d or 300 mg/kg/d, p.o., 2 h before Pb) greatly inhibited the decrease of monoamine transmitters, respectively (P < 0.05). Also, AESC (300 mg/kg/d) significantly increased the reduction of glutathione contents and superoxide dismutase activities in HIP induced by chronic Pb. These results suggest that AESC ameliorates Pb-induced depletion of monoamine neurotransmitters in HIP through its antioxidant activity.

      • Distal Demonstrative Hitlo in Taiwanese Southern Min

        This article investigates the use of distal demonstrative Hitlo in Taiwanese Southern Min (TSM) from a discourse-pragmatic perspective. The analysis is based on a 5-hour corpus of spoken data, including daily conversations, radio interviews, TV drama series, and some random examples. A total of 172 tokens of Hitlos are identified in the data. They can be divided into six categories according to their functions: firstly, exophoric usage, those Hitlos which refer to an object non-linguistically which can be identified in the immediate situation; secondly, endophoric usage, those which refer to an element textually; thirdly, referent introducing function, those which can be used to introduce a new but identifiable referent into the conversation (the referent usually has topical importance); fourthly, hedging expression, those which serve as a marker of imprecision; fifthly, a condition introducing marker, those which function as an indicator of the coming of a conditional sentence; finally, pause fillers, those which help speakers to manage speech turn or indicate the mental states In addition, an interactive function which Hitlo is found to serve will be discussed. Moreover, a grammaticalizational process involving semantic bleaching which Hitlo is probably undergoing is revealed in general. Finally, a filled demonstrative principle, stating that it may be a universal phenomenon to use demonstratives as filled pause will be proposed.

      • A simple way to enhance Doxilⓡ therapy: Drug release from liposomes at the tumor site by amphiphilic block copolymer

        The antitumor efficacy of Doxil® is hindered by the poor release of the active drug from the liposome at the tumor sites. This study investigates a possibility to enhance drug release from the liposomes and increase therapeutic efficacy of Doxil® by administering Pluronic block copolymers once the liposomal drug accumulates in the tumor sites. In our study, the fluorescence de-quenching experiments were designed to investigate the drug release from liposome by Pluronic P85. MTT cytotoxicity assay and confocal microscopy images were carried out to determine whether Pluronic P85 could facilitate release of Dox from Doxil®. Anti-tumor growth and distribution of drug were evaluated when Pluronic P85 was injected 1h, 48h, or 96h after the Doxil® administration in A2780 human ovarian cancer xenografts. Addition of Pluronic P85 resulted in release of Dox from the liposomes accompanied with significant increases of Dox delivery and cytotoxic effect in cancer cells. The greatest anti-tumor effect of single injection of Doxil® was achieved when Pluronic P85 was administered 48h after Doxil®. The confocal tile scanning images of tumor section showed that copolymer treatment induced the release of the drug in the tumors from the vessels regions to the bulk of the tumor. No release of the drug remaining in circulation was observed. Our study has demonstrated a simple approach for localized release of Dox from liposome by Pluronic P85 at the tumor site, which was therapeutically beneficial.ⓒ2013 Elsevier B.V.         Experimental and Simulation Study of PEMFC based on Ammonia Decomposition Gas as Fuel

        Compared with hydrogen, ammonia has the advantages of high gravimetric hydrogen densities (17.8 wt.%), ease of storage and transportation as a chemical hydrogen storage medium, while its application in small-scale on-site hydrogen production scenarios is limited by the need for complex separation equipment during high purity hydrogen production. Therefore, the study of PEMFC, which can directly utilize ammonia decomposition gas, can greatly expand the application of fuel cells. In this paper, the output characteristics, fuel efficiency and the variation trend of hydrogen concentration and local current density in the anode channel of fuel cell with the output voltage of PEMFC fueled by ammonia decomposition gas were studied by experiment and simulation. The results indicate that the maximum output power of the hybrid fuel decreases by 9.6% compared with that of the pure hydrogen fuel at the same inlet hydrogen equivalent. When the molar concentration of hydrogen in the anode channel is less than 0.12, the output characteristics of PEMFC will be seriously affected. Employing ammonia decomposition gas as fuel, the efficiency corresponding to the maximum output power of PEMFC is approximately 47%, which is 10% lower than the maximum efficiency of pure hydrogen.

        본 연구는 중국의 섬유산업에 대한 상황분석을 통하여 비용, 환경오염, 외부 경쟁, 불안정한 외부환경에 대한 문 제를 확인하려는 목적을 지닌다. 특히 본 연구는 양쯔강 지역의 생산 현황, 수출입 상황, 고용현황, 의복 생산을 SWOT분석을 통하여 살펴보는데 초점을 둔다. 지속가능한 발전을 위한 능력을 형성하는 것은 5가지의 영역으로 나 뉘는데, 정부, 산업 협회, 연구기관들, 회사, 개인이다. 본 연구는 특히 산업, 정부, 대학 간의 협력 및 조합의 중요 성을 제기한다. Chinese textile industry is competitive and high dependence on international trade,also the comparative advantages of the traditional pillars of enterprise. China is textile power but is not textile great-power. Especially in the context of economic globalization, Chinese textile industry is facing many problems to be solved, at the same time, development is also facing a bottleneck. Let the textile industry continues to contribute to the national economy, it’s necessary to ensure sustainable development, avoid become a burden textile industry from the pillar industries. This paper through situation analysis of China’s textile industry, identify problems about cost, pollution, external competition and unstable external environment. Analyze Production status, Import and Export situation, Employment status and clothing production about Yangtze River Delta through SWOT analysis. Building capacity for sustainable development will be divided into five parts, incloud Government, Industry associations, Research Institutions, Company and Personal, propose the Combination of Industry, Official and University. Government should intensify investment in research funding, to improve research and development capabilities, actively cooperate with universities and train more professionals, provide advanced technology and more personnel. Industry associations should supervise company, at the same time, provide more policy guidance for company, change the company’s greener and more efficient production methods.

      • Children`s Acquisition of Demonstrative Pronouns in Mandarin Chinese

        This paper investigates children``s comprehension and production of demonstrative pronouns (DPs), ``zhege`` (this) and ``nage`` (that), in Mandarin Chinese. Subjects are children of ages three, four, five and six. Based on the results of the present experiment, children``s developmental stages and the corresponding age grading are provided. Also, the present study incorporates a physical clue into the experiment. The result suggests that in the acquisition of deixis children rely highly on physical context to work out the meaning distinction. In addition, Piaget``s egocentrism hypothesis and H. Clark``s marking hypothesis are examined in the study. The result seems to support the egocentrism hypothesis. Subjects under the age of six do fail to shift the deictic center when they and the experimenter have a different perspective. As for the marking hypothesis, the study seems to challenge the hypothesis. The result shows that children actually performed better on the marked term ``zhege`` than the unmarked member ``nage``.

        Exploring the Key Genes and Pathways of Osteoarthritis in Knee Cartilage in a Rat Model Using Gene Expression Profiling

        Purpose: To compare differentially expressed genes (DEGs) mediating osteoarthritis (OA) in knee cartilage and in normal kneecartilage in a rat model of OA and to identify their impact on molecular pathways associated with OA. Materials and Methods: A gene expression profile was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. Analysis ofDEGs was carried out using GEO2R. Enrichment analyses were performed on the Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia ofGenes and Genomes pathway using the Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes database (http://www.string-db.org/). Subsequently, the regulatory interaction network of OA-associated genes was visualized using Cytoscape software (version 3.4.0;www.cytoscape.org). Results: In the gene expression profile GSE103416, a total of 99 DEGs were identified. Among them, 76 DEGs (76.77%) were overexpressed,and the remaining 23 DEGs (23.23%) were underexpressed. GO and pathway enrichment analyses of target geneswere performed. Using gene-gene interaction network analysis, relevant core genes, including MET, UBB, GNAI3, and GNA13,were shown to hold a potential relationship with the development of OA in cartilage. Using quantitative real-time PCR, the Gna13/cGMP-PKG signaling pathway was identified as a potential research target for therapy and for further understanding the developmentof OA. Conclusion: The results of the present study provide a comprehensive understanding of the roles of DEGs in knee cartilage in relationto the development of OA.

        COVID-19 주요 연구 동향 분석 : SCOPUS DB를 중심으로

        본 논문의 목적은 COVID-19의 최근 주요 연구 동향을 파악하는데 있다. 이에 Elsevier에서 제공하는 해외 학술 DB 인 SCOPUS를 활용하여 최근 3년간(2020~2022) COVID-19의 연구 동향을 파악하고자 한다. 빈도 분석 결과, covid가 7,248건, pandemic이 4,974건, study가 3,313건, research가 2,137건, crisis가 1,777건 순으로 그 중요도가 나타났다. 트렌드 분석결과, covid와 pandemic은 꾸준하게 연구가 진행되고 있으나, study, research, crisis는 최근 들어 연구가 다 소 감소하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. LDA 토픽 모델링 분석 결과, 중요한 토픽은 ‘covid19, pandemic’ 인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 COVID-19에 대한 연구가 일상생활뿐만이 아니라 기업이나 조직에서도 필요하기 때문에 의학 이외의 다른 학문 분야 에서도 중요하다는 것을 보여준다. 특히 COVID-19가 그 어느 때보다도 중요해지는 상황에서 COVID-19의 연구가 미치는 영향 및 파급효과에 관한 관심이 지속적으로 이루어질 것으로 보인다. The purpose of this study is to identify the major research trends of COVID-19 in recent times. In addition, we would like to use SCOPUS, an overseas academic database provided by Elsevier, to understand the research trends of COVID-19 in the last three years (2020-2022). As a result of frequency analysis, covid 7,248 cases, pandemic 4,974 cases, study 3,313 cases, research 2,137 cases, crisis 1,777 cases appeared in order of importance. As a result of the trend analysis, we found that studies on covid and pandemic are progressing steadily, but those on study, research, and crisis have decreased somewhat recently. As a result of LDA topic modeling analysis, the important topics were found to be 'covid19, pandemic'. This shows that research on COVID-19 is important not only in everyday life, but also in companies and organizations, and therefore in other academic fields besides medicine. When (the study of)COVID-19 becomes more important than ever, there seems to be an ongoing interest in the impact and ramifications of COVID-19 research.

        Lifetime Prediction and Aging Behaviors of Nitrile Rubber Under Operating Environment of Transformer

        Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at 70°C under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at 25°C was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.
