        Comparison of Biexponential and Monoexponential Model of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging for Distinguishing between Common Renal Cell Carcinoma and Fat Poor Angiomyolipoma

        Objective: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM)-derived parameters and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in distinguishing between renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and fat poor angiomyolipoma (AML). Materials and Methods: Eighty-three patients with pathologically confirmed renal tumors were included in the study. All patients underwent renal 1.5T MRI, including IVIM protocol with 8 b values (0–800 s/mm2). The ADC, diffusion coefficient (D), pseudodiffusion coefficient (D*), and perfusion fraction (f) were calculated. One-way ANOVA was used for comparing ADC and IVIM-derived parameters among clear cell RCC (ccRCC), non-ccRCC and fat poor AML. The diagnostic performance of these parameters was evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Results: The ADC were significantly greater in ccRCCs than that of non-ccRCCs and fat poor AMLs (each p < 0.010, respectively). The D and D* among the three groups were significantly different (all p < 0.050). The f of non-ccRCCs were less than that of ccRCCs and fat poor AMLs (each p < 0.050, respectively). In ROC analysis, ADC and D showed similar area under the ROC curve (AUC) values (AUC = 0.955 and 0.964, respectively, p = 0.589) in distinguishing between ccRCCs and fat poor AMLs. The combination of D > 0.97 x 10-3 mm2/s, D* < 28.03 x 10-3 mm2/s, and f < 13.61% maximized the diagnostic sensitivity for distinguishing non-ccRCCs from fat poor AMLs. The final estimates of AUC (95% confidence interval), sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy for the entire cohort were 0.875 (0.719–0.962), 100% (23/23), 75% (9/12), 88.5% (23/26), 100% (9/9), and 91.4% (32/35), respectively. Conclusion: The ADC and D showed similar diagnostic accuracy in distinguishing between ccRCCs and fat poor AMLs. The IVIM-derived parameters were better than ADC in discriminating non-ccRCCs from fat poor AMLs.

        Acteoside and Acyl-Migrated Acteoside, Compounds in Chinese Kudingcha Tea, Inhibit α-Amylase In Vitro

        Acteoside, the predominant polyphenol of small-leaved kudingcha, the Chinese tea, has various biological activities. In this study, we examined the acyl migration of acteoside to isoacteoside with high-temperature treatment of acteoside. The inhibitory effects of acyl-migrated acteoside and acteoside on α-amylase were investigated, as were their binding interaction with α-amylase. The binding of acteoside and isoacteoside to α-amylase was investigated by using the fluorescence spectra assay, circular dichroism, and protein–ligand docking studies. Acteoside was more effective than preheated acteoside and isoacteoside in inhibiting α-amylase activity. Acteoside and isoacteoside binding to α-amylase may induce conformational changes to α-amylase, and the binding site of acteoside and isoacteoside being near the active site pocket of α-amylase may explain the decreased activity of α-amylase. The different affinities and binding sites of acteoside and isoacteoside for α-amylase resulted in different inhibition rates, which may be due to structural differences between acteoside and isoacteoside.

        First-principles analysis of the absorption and luminescence properties of Cr2+-doped ZnSe crystal

        The electronic band structure, absorption and luminescence properties of Cr2+-doped ZnSe crystal have been investigated by first-principles calculations on the basis of density functional theory. Firstprinciples calculations were carried out using the Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP). It is shown that isolated impurity bands that mainly made up of Cr(d) orbitals are created in the band gap with the doping of Cr2+ ions. The Cr(d) orbitals are split into e and t2 groups because of the potential of the crystal. Theoretical absorption and luminescence spectra are calculated and compared with experimental data. An appropriate explanation of the experimental spectra is presented.

        Solution-based synthesis of PEDOT:PSS films with electrical conductivity over 6300 S/cm

        Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) mixed with poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is considered as oneof the most valuable conductive polymers due to its high conductivity, transparency and mechanicalflexibility. Many experiments have proved that H2SO4 post-treatment is an effective way to enhance theelectrical conductivity of PEDOT:PSSfilms. Here we reported a method for the fabrication of PEDOT:PSSfilms with conductivity as high as 6323.9 364.5 S/cm, based on a two-step H2SO4 post-treatment. Thisvery high conductivity is, as far as we know, the highest reported value for PEDOT:PSSfilms by solutionpreparation. The removal of PSS and redox reaction are the keys to enhance the conductivity of PEDOT:PSSfilms.

        Comprehensive study of relationships between surface morphology parameters and contact stress

        Surface roughness morphology seriously restricts workpiece interface contact performance, and therefore it is necessary to remove the fog of relationships between morphology parameters and contact stress (CS). To study the issue, use correlation analysis and BP network to set up correlation mapping model, thereafter introduce global sensitivity analysis Morris (qualitative) and Sobol (quantitative) to get “main influence parameters (MIP)”. Afterwards, construct a optimal nonlinear regression model between MIP and CS in line with complete polynomial and the idea of permutation and combination. Finally, analyze MIP influence path on CS from statistical path analysis. The paper main contributions are as follows: 1. From the perspective of theoretical analysis, a reasonable method to select parameters about CS performance characterization is proposed to avoid the empirical selection errors; 2. Correlation relationships bridge is built between MIP and CS, with quantitative influence way of parameters on contact stress studied and clarified.

        Tissue distribution of marbofloxacin in pigs after a single intramuscular injection

        Tissue distribution of marbofloxacin was studied in pigs after a single intramuscular injection at 2.5 mg/kg body weight. Samples of plasma, muscle, liver, kidney, heart, lung, and muscle at the injection site were randomly collected from five pigs at 2, 6, 10, 24, 48, 72, and 96 h after administration. Marbofloxacin concentrations were determined by using high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection and were subjected to non-compartmental analysis to obtain kinetic parameters. The elimination half-life (t1/2lz) of marbofloxacin at the injection site was 22.12 h, while those in kidney, plasma, liver, lung, heart, and muscle were 16.75, 21.48, 21.84, 24.00, 24.45, and 28.91 h, respectively. Areas under the concentration-time curve from 0 h to ∞ (AUC0–∞s) were calculated to be 31.17 hㆍmgㆍmL−1 for plasma and 32.97, 33.92, 34.78, 37.58, 42.02, and 98.80 hㆍmgㆍg−1 for heart, muscle, lung, liver, kidney, and injection site, respectively. The peak concentration (Cmax) of marbofloxacin was 1.62 µg/mL in plasma and 1.71, 1.74, 1.86, 1.93, 2.45, and 7.64 µg/g in heart, lung, muscle, kidney, liver, and injection site, respectively. The results show that marbofloxacin was fast absorbed, extensively distributed, and slowly eliminated from pigs after a single intramuscular administration.

        Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate induced oxidative damage involving FasL-associated apoptotic pathway in mouse spermatogenic GC-2spd cells

        Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) which belongs to phthalatic-acid esters, is a kind of harmful, global environmental pollutants. It is a known endocrine disrupting chemical and male reproductive toxicant. However, the mechanism by which DEHP exposure result in male reproductive toxicity is still unclear. To elucidate the productive toxicity mechanism of DEHP, we attemptted to investigate oxidative stress, apoptotic effects, mRNA and protein expression of apoptosis-associated genes including FasL, caspase-3, and caspase-8 in GC-2spd (mouse spermatogenic cells). The results showed that, with the increase of DEHP concentration, cell apoptosis rate increased; the activities of relation index of oxidative stress such as malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutatione peroxidase (GSH-PX) changed significantly; the mRNA and protein expression levels of FasL, caspase-3, -8, altered obviously. These results suggested that DEHP could induce apoptosis of GC-2spd cells through oxidative stress and FasL-dependent pathway.
