        Comparisons of callus formation ratios from seed explants, callus sizes, regeneration ratios from callus and regeneration efficiency for 4 orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) varieties (Three were developed in Korea and one was imported from foreign nation) are as follows; Jangbeol 102 (67.0%) has the highest callus formation ratio in 4 weeks incubated callus after bedding the seed explants, but Potomac (68.4%) has the highest ratio in 6-seek callus. Potomac (3.93cm) has the highest callus size in 4-week callus, but Jangbeol 101 (4.32cm) has the highest size in 6-week callus. Jangbeol 101 (17.7%) has the highest plant regeneration ratio in 4-week callus, but Potomac (37.4%) has the highest raion in 6-week callus. Jangbeol 102 (11.5%) has the highest plant regeneration efficiency in 4-week callus, but Potomac (25.6%) has the highest efficiency in 6-week callus.

        한국 정신장애의 역학 조사 연구[I] : 각 정신장애의 유병률

        Objectives : This study aims to estimate the prevalence of the DSM-IV psychiatric disorders in Korean population using the Korean version of Composite International Diagnostic Interview (K-CIDI). Methods : Subjects were selected by taking multi-stage, cluster samples of 7,867 adult household residents, 18 to 64 years of age, in ten catchment areas. Total 78 trained interviewers administered the K-CIDI to the selected respondents, from June 1 to November30,2001. Results : Total 6,275 respondents completed the interview. Some 33.5% of respondents reported at least one lifetime disorder, 20.6% reported at least one-year disorder, and 16.7% reported at least one-month disorder. The most common lifetime disorders were alcohol abuse/dependence (17.24%), nicotine dependence/withdrawal (11.19%), specific phobia (5.16%), and major de-pressive disorder (4.25%). The lifetime prevalence of substance abuse/dependence (0.25%) and schizophrenia (0.16%) was very low. Nicotine and alcohol use disorder showed very high male/female ratio. Mood disorder and anxiety disorder were more prevalent among female than male. Conclusion : The prevalence of psychiatric disorders was high. In comparison with other studies, remarkable differences in distributions of psychiatric disorders across the areas and times were observed.

        실시간 시뮬레이터 환경에서 항공기 데이터베이스 적용을 위한 DIP 개발 및 검증에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 항공기 데이터베이스를 효율적으로 사용하여 시뮬레이션 기능을 향상시키기 위한 DIP(Database Interface Program)의 설계, 개발 및 평가 결과를 제시한다. 주요 설계 관점은 계산 과정에서 시간 지연의 최소화, 메모리 적재 공간의 효율성, 데이터의 연속성 및 신뢰성을 고려하여 내삽 및 외삽과 같은 다양한 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 설계된 DIP를 비실시간 환경 및 Solaris 환경의 실시간 시뮬레이터에 적용하여 최종적으로 평가하였다. 비실시간 평가 환경에서 트림(trim) 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 수행속도와 데이터의 정확도를 평가하였으며, 실시간 환경에서는 대표적인 비행영역에서 여러 가지 기동 (maneuver)을 수행하여 데이터의 신뢰성 및 비행능력을 평가하였다. 평가결과, 계산 속도와 데이터 정확도는 개발요구도를 만족할 수 있었으며, 비행능력은 실시간 시뮬레이터 환경에서의 개발요구도를 만족할 수 있었다. In this paper, design, development and evaluation of DIP(Database Interface Program) are presented. The main purpose of this study is to improve the simulation quality to get more realistic response of target system. The designed and developed major function is composed of flexible memory structure, efficient arithmetic database language and high speed interpolation/extrapolation algorithm. To evaluate the operation speed and accuracy of returned data, trim simulation is performed based on in-house software and, Dll’ is applied to existing real-time simulator such as engineering HQS(Handling Quality Simulator) to evaluate reliability and performance. The result of evlaution reveals that calculation speed and data accuracy are satisfied, and flight performance is satisfied in the real-time simulator environments.

        항공기 자세회복을 위한 자동회복장치 설계 및 검증에 관한 연구

        Relaxed static stability(RSS) concept has been applied to improve aerodynamic performance of modem version supersonic jet fighter aircraft. Therefore, flight control system are necessary to stabilize an unstable aircraft and provides adequate handling qualities. Also, flight control systems of modem version aircraft employ a safety system to support emergency situations such as a pilot unknown attitude flight conditions of an aircraft in night flight-testing. This situation is dangerous because the aircraft can lose if the pilot not take recognizance of situation. Therefore, automatic recovery system is necessary. The system called the "Pilot Activated Recovery System" or PARS, provided a pilot initiated automatic maneuver capable of an aircraft recoveries in situations of unusual attitudes. This paper addresses the concept of PARS and designed using nonlinear control law design process based on model of supersonic jet trainer. And, this control law is verified by nonlinear analysis and real-time pilot evaluation using in-house software. The result of evaluation reveals that the PARS support recovery of an aircraft unusual attitude and improve a safety of an aircraft.

      • 강박증 환자에서의 인격장애 공존병리에 관한 연구

        연구목적 : 강박증의 동반인격장애에 관한 연구들은 기존의 개념과 달리 강박성 인격장애와 강박증 간에는 특이적인 관계가 없으며, 강박증 환자들은 다양한 인격장애를 동반한다는 결과를 보여주었다. 그러나 이러한 연구들은 동반 인격장애에 관한 기술적인 분석에 그쳤고, 강박증 환자군의 임상 증상과 동반 인격장애 양상간의 연관성에 관한 분석을 시행하지 않았다. 본 연구의 목적은 강박증 환자군에서의 동반 인격장애를 평가하고 강박증 환자의 다양한 증상과 동반 인격특성 간의 연관성에 대해 연구하는 것이다. 방 법 : DSM-IV의 강박증의 진단기준을 만족하는 59명의 환자군과 32명의 정상대조군을 대상으로 인격장애 질문지를 적용한 후 4∼6점의 절단점을 기준으로 인격장애의 진단이 내려졌다. 먼저 환자군과 정상대조군 간의 특정 인격장애 빈도의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 Fisher's exact test를 시행한 후, 두집단 간에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀진 인격장애 척도 점수에 미치는 Y-BOCS,BDI,BAI점수의 영향을 알아보기 위하여 다중선형회귀 분석을 시행하였다. 결 과 : 1) Fisher's exact test 결과 강박증 환자군은 정상 대조군에 비해 경계성 인격장애(18.6%vs 0%, p=0.007). 회피성 인격장애(55.9% vs 18.8%, p=0.001), 우울성 인격장애(40.7% vs 0%, p=0.000)의 비율이 유의하게 높았다. 2) 다중선형회귀분석 결과 Y-BOCS 점수 (t=2.10, p=0.043)와 BAI점수(t=2.60, p=0.014)는 경계성 인격장애 점수에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 BAI점수(t=3.23, p<0.003)는 회피성 인격장애 저수에, BDI점수 (t=3.08, p=0.004)는 우울성 인격장애 점수에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 강박증 환자군은 정상 대조군에 비해 회피성 인격장애, 우울성 인격장애, 경계성 인격장애의 동반율이 높고, 강박증이 경계성 인격장애의 심각도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this study was to assess the comorbid axis-Ⅱ disorders of obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD) patients and to investigate the relationship between symptoms of OCD and the comorbid personality traits. The subjects were 59 patients who met DSM-IV criteria for obsessive-compulsive disorder and 32 normal controls. All subjects completed personality Disorder Questionnaire-IV(PDQ-IV). The patients completed Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), and were rated with Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale(YBOCS). The results were as follows. 1) The OCD patients showed significantly higher prevalence of avoidant, depresssive and borderline personality disorder(p<0.01) compared to controls. 2) The BAI score had significant effect on the avoidant personality score(t=3,23, p<0.003). The BDI score had significant effect on the depressive personality score(t=3.08, p=0.004). The YBOCS(t=2.10, p=0.043) and BAI(t=2.60, p=0.014) scores had significant effects on the borderline personality score. We found that OCD patients had higher prevalence of avoidant, depressive, and borderline personality disorders. We also found that obsessive-compulsive symptoms have significant effect on the severity of borderline personalty traits. We suggest that it would be very helpful to consider Axis-Ⅱ disorders for managing patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

        Protective effects of pine bark extract against cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress in rats

        We investigated the protective effects of pine bark extract (pycnogenol<SUP>®</SUP>, PYC) against cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress in rats. Twenty-four male rats were divided into the following four groups: (1) vehicle control, (2) cisplatin (7.5 mg/kg), (3) cisplatin & PYC 10 (10 mg/kg/day), and (4) cisplatin & PYC 20 (20 mg/kg/day). A single intraperitoneal injection of cisplatin induced hepatotoxicity, as evidenced by an increase in serum aminotransferase and histopathological alterations, including degeneration/necrosis of hepatocytes, vacuolation, and sinusoidal dilation. In addition, an increase in the malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration and a decrease in the reduced glutathione (GSH) content and catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activities were observed in the cisplatin-treated rat hepatic tissues. In contrast, PYC treatment effectively prevented cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity, including the elevation of aminotransferase and histopathological lesions, in a dosedependent manner. Moreover, PYC treatment also induced antioxidant activity by decreasing MDA level and increasing GSH content and SOD and GST activities in liver tissues. These results indicate that PYC has a protective effect against acute hepatotoxicity induced by cisplatin in rats, and that the protective effects of PYC may be due to inhibiting lipid peroxidation and increasing antioxidant activity.

      • Use of a Secretion Trap Screen in Pepper Following Phytophthora capsici Infection Reveals Novel Functions of Secreted Plant Proteins in Modulating Cell Death.

        <P>In plants, the primary defense against pathogens is mostly inducible and associated with cell wall modification and defense-related gene expression, including many secreted proteins. To study the role of secreted proteins, a yeast-based signal-sequence trap screening was conducted with the RNA from Phytophthora capsici-inoculated root of Capsicum annuum 'Criollo de Morelos 334' (CM334). In total, 101 Capsicum annuum secretome (CaS) clones were isolated and identified, of which 92 were predicted to have a secretory signal sequence at their N-terminus. To identify differences in expressed CaS genes between resistant and susceptible cultivars of pepper, reverse Northern blots and real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction were performed with RNA samples isolated at different time points following P. capsici inoculation. In an attempt to assign biological functions to CaS genes, we performed in planta knock-down assays using the Tobacco rattle virus-based gene-silencing method. Silencing of eight CaS genes in pepper resulted in suppression of the cell death induced by the non-host bacterial pathogen (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato T1). Three CaS genes induced phenotypic abnormalities in silenced plants and one, CaS259 (PR4-l), caused both cell death suppression and perturbed phenotypes. These results provide evidence that the CaS genes may play important roles in pathogen defense as well as developmental processes.</P>

        Characteristics of Absorption and Accumulation of Inorganic Germanium in Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer

        The characteristics of absorption and accumulation of inorganic germanium in Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer were examined. In 4-year-old P. ginseng, the germanium content of the field soil increased with increased amounts and frequencies of inorganic germanium application, while chemical components of the soil, such as available phosphate and exchangeable calcium, potassium, and magnesium, decreased with the increased inorganic germanium application. In the 4-year-old P. ginseng, the germanium content was highest in the rhizome and increased in the order of stem, leaf, lateral root, and main root, suggesting that inorganic germanium was absorbed from the root and translocated to the stem and leaf via the rhizome. As for changes in ginsenosides in 4-year-old P. ginseng rhizomes, the contents of ginsenosides $Rb_1$, $Rb_2$, Re, and Rf decreased as the germanium content in soil increased. Ginsenosides $Rb_1$, $Rb_2$, Rc, Re, and Rf in the main root also decreased with increasing germanium content in the main root. The results suggest that inorganic germanium treatment may increase organic germanium in harvested P. ginseng, thus enhancing the medicinal effi cacy of ginseng products.
