한 농촌지역 학교보건의 현왕과 재선방안에 관한 연구

        김현주,박항배,최보율,노학재,신영전 韓國學校保健學會 1996 韓國學校保健學會誌 Vol.9 No.1

This research has incorporated a postal survey from the principals, nurse-charging teachers and nurse-teachers of the fiftyfive elementary, middle and high school in Yang-pyeong county area where its supplementary rate nurse-teachers is less than adequate. It is to analyse the current status of the school health service in the area and to come out with a plan to improve the school health program through the participations of the health related experts of the local community. The survey was done in the two months of periods of April to May of 1994. The result of the survey follows. The student population in the Yang-pyeong county area is 13,998 and the school employee population is 904 which counts for about 19.2% of the whole population of the area. However, the supplementary rate nurse-teachers is only 10.8% (4 in 5 schools) which is very low in terms of relativity. School health committee only exist in 17% of the whole number of schools in the area and 50 of school health commitee answered that their activity do not meet the adequate level. Only 54.3% of the whole school numbers has included the shool health finance in their financial plans and the amount set for school health finance is about 500,000 wons (100,000~1,600,000 wons). 64.9% of the schools in the Yang-pyeong county area have the permanent nursing room established in the school. But, often than the equipment for a simple physical examinations, their supply of the health related equipments are less than adequate. Particitations of school doctor in the school health service is at only 67.6% which pretty much include only the physical examinations. Nurse-charging teachers consider their utmost important role is to teach health education but, they answered that they spent most of their times and efforts on physical examinations & immunizations. The average number of students visition to the nursing room is 2.5 persons and complains for basic discomfort as headache, concussion, stomachache and indigestion problems and usual pills used are the analgesics and digestives. Physical examination is done in the most schools every year but, 51.4% of nurse-charging teachers answered the physical examination does not really help. About the emergency treatment ability, 75.7% reports that both manpower & equipment are short. The school food services are present in only 8 schools (21.6%) but, 89.2% of nurse-charging teachers answer that there is a definite need of the food service. The survey says that the utmost important environmental health and safety factors are the traffic accidents followed by improper heat system, lighting, the stools and desks that do not consider the student physical status. The overall evaluation of school health program reports that there are adequate physical examination, immunization, environmental hygiene, and management of safety but, on the other hand, health education, health councelling & management of nursing room are not managed properly. The principals of the survey pool report shortage of public agency support, lack of understanding of school health, shortage of nursing equipments and school health finance as the barrier factors of school health. The nurse-charging teachers report on the same questions as their less than qualitifying expertise, extraload of work upon the nursing affairs, shortage of nursing equipments & school health finance. The head masters & nurse-charging teachers answered that they are desperate for the meetings of nurse-charging teachers, construction of school health councelling system & training education in order to improve school health and if these are available, they will actively participate in them. After the careful analysis of the survey result, it is apparent that through thr relations of the manpowers, establishment of community-oriented school health is definitely in need rural area where there is low supplementary rate of nurse-teachers and poor school health environment.

구강보건교육에 의한 초등학교 학생의 구강보건 지식도와 구강위생관리능력의 변화

        이성국,송근배,전현자 韓國學校保健學會 1999 韓國學校保健學會誌 Vol.12 No.2

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of systemic oral health education on the improvement of knowledge levels and patient hygiene performance(PHP) for elementary school students. The randomly selected 1st and 5th grade students in a public elementary school of Taegu city were divided by education group(118 students) and non-education group(122 students). The oral health education lesson was systematically held on the education group once a month for 4 months. The questionnaire queried all the subjects about their knowledge and attitudes before and after oral health education, and PHP was also tested at the same time. Corresponding p-values were significantly considered at values less than 0.05. The obtained results were as follows: Due to the oral health education lesson, the education group of both 1st and 5th grade students came to have a higher knowledge level than the non-education group. There was high improvement of items such as toothbrushing time, toothbrushing method, cause of dental caries, treatment after tooth damage, and tongue-brushing. Therefore, these items should be educated to all the elementary school students. By increasing the knowledge level of oral health after education, the PHP index in the education group was significantly decreased in comparison to the non-education group and hence the capability of oral health education system for elementary school students can improve the knowledge level and capability of oral health management. Further study will be required to develop an easy and acceptable systemic oral health education program for elementary schools.

      • Senescence is accelerated through donor cell specificity in cloned pigs.

        Jeon, Hyun Yong,Jeong, Yeon Woo,Kim, Yeon Wook,Jeong, Yeon Ik,Hossein, Shamim M,Yang, Hyun,Hyun, Sang Hwan,Jeung, Eui-Bae,Hwang, Woo Suk D.A. Spandidos 2012 International journal of molecular medicine Vol.30 No.2

<P>Animals cloned by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) sometimes have abnormalities that result in large offspring syndrome or early death during gestation due to respiratory and metabolic defects. We cloned pigs using two sources of donor cells and observed phenotypic anomalies in three pigs cloned from one type of cell, s-pig fetal fibroblasts. These animals had many wrinkles on their faces and bodies and looked older than age-matched normal pigs. We performed the present study to examine whether the wrinkled phenotype in the cloned pigs was due to senescence, a genetic problem with donor specificity, or epigenetic problems with reprogramming. To address this issue, we investigated biomarkers of senescence, including telomere length and the expression of senescence-associated β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal), glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and β-actin. We also assessed the methylation status of euchromatic PRE-1 repetitive sequences and centromeric satellite DNA, and measured the mRNA levels of six imprinted genes, Copg2, Mest, Igf2R, GNAS, SNRPN and Ube3a. The telomeres of the wrinkled cloned pigs were much shorter than those of the normal cloned pigs and age-matched normal pigs. In the wrinkled cloned pigs, SA-β-gal activity was detected and GAPDH and β-actin were repressed. The mRNA levels of Mest, GNAS and Ube3a were reduced in the wrinkled cloned pigs, although there was no difference between the normal cloned pigs and normal controls. This gene expression analysis indicates that the wrinkled abnormality of our pigs originates from genetic abnormalities in the donor cells used for SCNT.</P>

      • Bit-Based SLM Schemes for PAPR Reduction in QAM Modulated OFDM Signals

        Hyun-Bae Jeon,Kyu-Hong Kim,Jong-Seon No,Dong-Joon Shin IEEE 2009 IEEE transactions on broadcasting Vol.55 No.3

<P>In this paper, we propose two bit-based selected mapping (SLM) schemes for reducing peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals with quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), called bitwise SLM (BSLM) and partial bit inverted SLM (PBISLM). Contrary to the conventional SLM which rotates the phases of QAM symbols in the frequency domain, the proposed schemes change the magnitudes as well as the phases of QAM symbols by applying binary phase sequences to the binary data sequence before mapped to QAM symbols. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes have better PAPR reduction performance with shaping gain than the conventional SLM scheme for the QAM modulated OFDM signals, especially for the small number of subcarriers.</P>

      • A New PAPR Reduction Scheme Using Efficient Peak Cancellation for OFDM Systems

        Hyun-Bae Jeon,Jong-Seon No,Dong-Joon Shin IEEE 2012 IEEE transactions on broadcasting Vol.58 No.4

<P>A new computationally efficient peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is proposed, which utilizes the parabolic peak cancellation (PPC) using the truncated kernel signal generated from the inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) of the shaped peak reduction tones (PRTs). The proposed scheme only repeats peak canceling in the time domain without iteratively performing IFFT and FFT. Also, the application of the proposed PPC scheme to active constellation extension (ACE) can reduce the number of iterations of IFFT and FFT. Moreover, a transmit power allocation scheme is also suggested to relieve the degradation of bit error rate (BER) of the proposed PAPR reduction scheme. Numerical analysis shows that if the shaping parameters of PRTs are chosen properly, out-of-band (OOB) radiation and BER can be improved while the PAPR reduction performance is maintained.</P>

Pathogenomics of Streptococcus ilei sp. nov., a newly identified pathogen ubiquitous in human microbiome

        Hyun Dong-Wook,Lee Jae-Yun,Kim Min-Soo,Shin Na-Ri,Whon Tae Woong,Kim Kyung Hyun,Kim Pil Soo,Tak Euon Jung,Jung Mi-Ja,이준영,Kim Hyun Sik,Kang Woorim,Sung Hojun,Jeon Che Ok,Bae Jin-Woo 한국미생물학회 2021 The journal of microbiology Vol.59 No.8

Viridans group streptococci are a serious health concern because most of these bacteria cause life-threatening infections, especially in immunocompromised and hospitalized individuals. We focused on two alpha-hemolytic Streptococcus strains (I-G2 and I-P16) newly isolated from an ileostomy effluent of a colorectal cancer patient. We examined their pathogenic potential by investigating their prevalence in human and assessing their pathogenicity in a mouse model. We also predicted their virulence factors and pathogenic features by using comparative genomic analysis and in vitro tests. Using polyphasic and systematic approaches, we identified the isolates as belonging to a novel Streptococcus species and designated it as Streptococcus ilei. Metagenomic survey based on taxonomic assignment of datasets from the Human Microbiome Project revealed that S. ilei is present in most human population and at various body sites but is especially abundant in the oral cavity. Intraperitoneal injection of S. ilei was lethal to otherwise healthy C57BL/6J mice. Pathogenomics and in vitro assays revealed that S. ilei possesses a unique set of virulence factors. In agreement with the in vivo and in vitro data, which indicated that S. ilei strain I-G2 is more pathogenic than strain I-P16, only the former displayed the streptococcal group A antigen. We here newly identified S. ilei sp. nov., and described its prevalence in human, virulence factors, and pathogenicity. This will help to prevent S. ilei strain misidentification in the future, and improve the understanding and management of streptococcal infections.
