Litters such as sawdust and rice hulls are used to manage the waste excrements of Hanwoo(Korean Native Cattle). This experiment was conducted to investigate the adequate depth of bedding materials, and the effective substitutive rate of rice hulls and the recycled-dried sawdust mixed with cattle waste for sawdust from 1993 to 1994. The results were as follows; 1. The most adequate bedding depth of sawdust was 4cm and it was able to be utilized for 38 days. The cost of required sawdust was lower in order of 5, 15, 20 and 10cm in depth of bedding sawdust. 2. Rice hulls was able to be fully substituted for sawdust, but 50% substitution the most effective. 3. Recycled-dried sawdust mixed with cattle waste could be substituted less than 25% for sawdust.

The objective of this study was to estimate the investment limit in equipment capital by Capital Recovery Method. The data used was collected from 23 Hanwoo(Korean Native Cattle) farms in 1994. The necessary time for herd size expansion was average 5 years from opening(9.7 heads) to 50 heads, 4 years from 50 to 100heads, 3 years from 100 to 150 heads, and 2 years from 150 to 200 heads, respectively. It took 14 years from opening to 200 heads of herd size. The debts for fattening cattle farms were 15.2million won for the size of 50 heads, 37.1 million won for the size of 100 heads and 89.0 million won for the size 200 heads, respectively. Average rates of debt interest were 5.1 % 7.2 and 10.8, correspendingly. As the hear size increased, debt interest rates also increased due to government funds limit. The investment limits in equipment capital perfarm household were 77.7 million won for 50 heads, 135.1 for 100 heads, and 294.3 for 200 heads for 5,500 won per kg liveweight, 70.7 million won for 50 heads, 122.6 for 100 heads and 269.3 for 200 heads for 5,000 won per kg liveweight, 63.6 million won for 50 heads 110.0 for 100 heads and 244.2 for 200 heads for 4,500 won per kg liveweight.

한우는 타우린(bos taurus) 계열의 한국 고유의 품종으로 약 5000년 전부터 역우로서 우리민족과 함께해온 매우 고유한 품봉이다. 초기 한국의 농촌지역에서 역우로서 사용되어 오다가, 한국사회가 급격히 발전하면서, 1960년부터 역우에서 육우로 개량을 시작하였다. 한우고기는 한국 국민들에게 매우 유용한 단백질 공급원으로 자리매김하였고, 농가소득의 일등공신이 되어왔다. 아울러, 한구고기는 한국인들이 가장 선호하는 고기로 각광을 받고 있다. 따라서, 한우 연구자들의 주요 연구목적은 한우의 맛을 조절하는 육질연구로서, 대표적으로 개량, 사양, 번식 및 유전체 연구가 활발하게 진행되어 오고 있다.특히 본 리뷰논문에서는 1980년대 시작한 한우개량사업을 중심으로 한우품종의 기원, 개량프로그램, 유전체연구를 통한 효율적 개량에 관한 내용을 폭넓게 다루고 있으며, 특히 전총적인 개량방법과 신 개량방법중 하나인 유전체선발방법의 비교를 통하여 앞으로 한우개량이 나아갈 방향을 제시하였다.

이 연구에서는 장애인거주시설 관련 집단들인 거주시설 운영자와 직원, 관계 공무원, 장애인단체 활동가 등을 대상으로 Q 방법론을 적용하여 거주시설에 대한 인식유형과 각 인식유형의 특성을 살펴보았다. 연구결과 시설 내 서비스의 다양화와 전문화를 강조하는 ‘시설 전문화 형’과 시설은 무엇보다 이용자 참여가 중심이어야 함을 강조하는 ‘이용자 참여 형’, 시설은 일반가정과 유사한 기능을 해야 함을 강조하는 ‘일반가정 유사형’, 시설은 그 존재 자체가 불필요하며 자립지원정책을 중심으로 해야 함을 강조하는 ‘시설 불필요 형’으로 유형화할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 그 동안 논의되어 왔던 장애인거주시설에 대한 다양한 입장들의 실체를 이론적으로 정리해 낸데 의의가 있으며, 거주시설 관련 정책결정?집행과정에서 서로 다른 요구를 조율하고 합의를 이끌어내는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study is to find out perception types of related groups - service providers, welfare public servants and advocates of disabled people - on the residential care home for disabled people. For this purpose, this study adopted Q-methodology which is developed mainly to study on the subjective conceptualization of related people on research theme. This study found out four major types of perception on residential care home for disabled people, which are the types of focusing specialization and professionalization of care home, valuing on user participation on daily decision making, requesting similar style of care home with normal family home. insisting on abolishment of all kinds of residential care home. This research finding can be used to make clear understanding on diverse voices of related groups about residential care home for disabled people. This kind of understanding would contribute to mutual understanding and clear communication to arrive positive consensus related to the matters of residential care services for the disabled people.

본 실태조사는 분만돈방과 분만틀 사용실태를 조사함으로써 분만돈의 동물복지 수준을 향상시킬 수 있는 대체 사육시설을 개발하는데 필요한 기초자료를 확보하기 위해 실시되었다. 분만돈방은 크게 형태별로 수직형 분만돈방과 사선형 분만돈방 두 가지로 구분되었으며, 분만틀은 압사방지 바(Bar)의 형태를 기준으로 수평형(Horizontal bar) 분만틀, 수직형(Vertical bar) 분만틀로 구분되었다. 기타 시설물에 대한 조사결과, 조사농가의 전체가 니플형 급수시설을 사용하고 있었으며, 약 80%가 습식급이기를 사용하고 있었고, 조사 농가의 약 40%가 전체틈바닥, 약 60%가 부분 틈바닥이었으며, 분만돈 두당 최소 $3.9\;m^2$ 이상의 면적을 제공하고 있었다. 국내의 다양한 사육시설과 환경으로 인하여 일괄적인 구조개선이나 새로운 사육시설의 적용은 쉽지 않을 것으로 판단되지만 이러한 국내 양돈농가의 실태조사 자료들을 동물복지 수준을 향상시킬 수 있는 대체 사육시설을 개발하는데 좋은 기초자료가 될 것이라 생각한다. This survey was carried out to investigate the dimensions of farrowing accommodation and farrowing crate by types. Farrowing crates are used to prevent the crushing death in the swine industry generally but farrowing crates include many problems in the animal welfare viewpoint: e.g. restriction of movements and maternal instincts. Therefore, the studies of alternative systems have been discussed for a while in U.K., U.S.A. and Canada. We surveyed eight farms for about eight months. To accurately compare the farrowing housing, small scale swine farms (3,000hd or less) were excluded from all data in this survey. Lactating accommodations were divided into vertical lactating accommodation type and diagonal accommodation type, and farrowing crates were divided into vertical bar type and horizontal bar type. In this survey, nipple waterer, partial slotted floor and total slotted floor were 80%, 40% and 60% respectively, and the lactating accommodations' dimensions ranged from 3.90 to $4.92\;m^2$. We believe that these data of the survey contribute to develop alternative systems and then contribute to improve the animal welfare in Korea.
오리 가슴육의 발골시간과 저장온도가 육질 특성에 미치는 영향

도압 후 오리 가슴육의 발골시간과 취급방법이 육질에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과, 처리구 간의 pH는 유의적인 차이가 없었으나 냉동해동 처리구가 냉도체 발골구에 비해 높은 명도($L^*$)와 황색도($b^*$)를 나타내었을 뿐만 아니라 짧은 근절길이와 높은 가열감량을 보였고, 그 결과 높은 전단가를 나타내었다. 이 같은 결과는 냉동해동 처리구의 근원섬유 단백질 용해성이 낮은 것과 관련이 있었으며, 낮은 용해성은 nebulin과 같은 고분자 단백질이 사후초기에 냉동에 의해 분해되지 않은 결과로 사료된다. 따라서 오리고기는 도압 후곧바로 발골하여 냉동 또는 냉장 유통하는 것보다 냉도체 발골하여 냉장 유통하는 것이 육질향상을 위해 바람직할 것으로 사료된다. To investigate the effect of boning time and storage temperature on meat quality of duck breast, a total of thirty duck breasts were designed in frozen-thawed, chilled-storage, and cold-boning samples. No significant differences were found among pH of all samples. However, cold-boning samples showed significantly (p<0.05) lower cooking loss than the other samples. Frozen-thawed samples showed significantly (p<0.05) higher lightness ($L^*$) and yellowness($b^*$), shorter sarcomere length and higher shear force values compared to the other samples. The result speculated that muscle shortening was affected by lower temperature (frozen) hence tenderness was decreased. Sarcoplasmic protein solubility showed no significant differences among samples, whereas cold-boning samples showed significantly (p<0.05) higher myofibrillar and total protein solubility than the other samples. The result of sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) patterns, chilled-storage and cold-boning samples showed degradation at high molecular protein (nebulin), which was not observed in frozen-thawed samples. Therefore, this data suggested that muscle shortening, tenderness and protein degradation are not affected by boning time rather affected by rapid change of temperature in frozen-thawed samples.

This study compared the water quality supplied to dairy cows using a conventional and a magnetized automatic water trough. A magnetized device was attached to water troughs and water quality characteristics (hardness, bacterial counts, mineral contents and water pH) were estimated before and after its usage and compared with conventional system. The bacterial counts were significantly reduced in water supplied through magnetized water trough compared to that supplied through conventional system. Iron contents in water were reduced with the usage of magnetized water trough. Hardness, pH, chlorine, fluorine and nitrite contents of water were not affected by magnetization of water. 본 시험은 기존의 급수기에 수질개선을 위하여 자화수 발생장치를 장착 시 수질향상 효과가 있는지를 알아보기 위하여 시험한 결과, 기존 급수기에 자화수 발생장치를 추가하여 기존 급수기의 수질과 비교한 결과, 총 박테리아수가 크게 감소하였으며, 철 성분도 검출되지 않아 일부 항목에서 수질개선 효과가 있었다. 결론적으로 기존의 급수기에 자화수 발생장치를 추가 장착할 경우 수질개선 효과가 있을 것으로 생각되었으며, 수질개선에 따른 생산성 증가 효과는 추후 더 많은 연구가 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

Total three hundred and fourteen dairy cows were used in this study to analysis of correlation between milking levels and automatic milking system (AMS). Cows were divided into five groups according to their milking levels (over 50 kg/day, 49~40 kg/day, 39~30 kg/day, 29~20 kg/day, 19~10 kg/day). All groups were compared with daily milking number, rejected number by AMS, residence time at AMS, milking time, flow rate of milk. Daily milking number and milking time were higher in the group of over 50 kg and 49~40 kg than that of other groups (p<0.05). There are no correlation on rejected number by AMS, residence time at AMS and flow rate of milk between milking levels and AMS. In addition, we found that the milk yield affected to feed intake and rumination of dairy cows. In conclusion, present results indicated that installation of AMS on dairy farms with high milk producing cows might be affected positively.
