Aberrant microRNAs Expression in CD133+/CD326+ Human Lung Adenocarcinoma Initiating Cells from A549

        Sheng Lin,Zheng-tang Chen,Jian-guo Sun,Jing-bo Wu,Hai-xia Long,Cong-hui Zhu,Tong Xiang,Hu Ma,Zhong-quan Zhao,Quan Yao,An-mei Zhang,Bo Zhu 2012 Molecules and cells Vol.33 No.3

Increasing evidence demonstrates that miRNAs are in-volved in the dysregulation of tumor initiating cells (TICs) in various tumors. Due to a lack of definitive markers, cell sorting is not an ideal separation method for lung adeno-carcinoma initiating cells. In this study, we combined pa-clitaxel with serum-free medium cultivation (inverse-induc-tion) to enrich TICs from A549 cells, marked by CD133/ CD326, defined features of stemness. We next investigated aberrant microRNAs in this subpopulation compared to normal cells with miRNA microarray and found that 50 miRNAs exhibited a greater than 2-fold change in expres-sion. As further validation, 10 miRNAs were chosen to perform quantitative RT-PCR on the A549 cell line and primary samples. The results suggest that aberrant ex-pression of miRNAs such as miR-29ab, miR-183, miR-17-5p and miR-127-3P may play an important role in regulat-ing the bio-behavior of TICs.

Production of Bioethanol from Sugarcane Bagasse Using NH4OH-H2O2 Pretreatment and Simultaneous Saccharification and Co-fermentation

        Zhi-Sheng Zhu,Ming-Jun Zhu,Wan-Xia Xu,Lei Liang 한국생물공학회 2012 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.17 No.2

In this study, we investigated the production of bioethanol from sugarcane bagasse (SCB) using an NH4OH-H2O2 pretreatment and simultaneous saccharification and co-fermentation (SScF). Response surface methodology and a 23 Box-Behnken design were used to evaluate the effect of different liquid mixture concentrations, liquid-tosolid ratios (LSRs) and pretreatment temperatures on the production of ethanol. The liquid mixture concentration and LSR significantly influenced the fermentation efficiency. Based on ridge max analysis, the following pretreatment conditions resulted in a fermentation efficiency of 95.79 ±0.01%: liquid mixture concentration 53%, LSR 28, and a temperature of 63°C. A morphological analysis performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and chemical characterization revealed that these pretreatment conditions were effective in disrupting the sugarcane fibers and removing lignin. Ethanol fermentation with the pretreated SCB using SScF in yeast SHY 07-1 resulted in an ethanol concentration of 14.65 ± 0.17 g/L, an ethanol yield of 0.48± 0.01 g/g, and an ethanol productivity of 0.12 ± 0.01 g/(L/h), which represents increases of 106.02, 89.98, and 107.02%, respectively, over the values obtained from SScF with untreated SCB. A Study on Success Factors in the 6th Industrialization of Agriculture in Korea and China

Vol.13 No.4

Rural communities in both Korea and China have faced important negative conditions, such as a population decrease, aging, and the increasing income gap between urban and rural areas. To overcome these problems, a new change is needed in rural areas. In recent years, the 6th industrialization of agriculture, which seeks the convergence of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries to revitalize agriculture and rural villages, has attracted considerable attention as an alternative. Meanwhile, Korea and China have plentiful humanistic resources. However, there are few studies on how humanistic resources affect the success in the 6th industrialization of agriculture. The goal of this study it to carry out empirical tests on Korea and China, using key successful factors―technology, manpower, market expansion, government support, linkages among industrial subjects―for the 6th industrialization of agriculture and find moderating effects of physical humanistic resources. Results suggest some valuable implications, and differences between Korea and China.

Vol.12 No.1

Recently, the corporate social responsibility activity is gathering strength as important. The corporate have seemed to be interested in and practiced their social responsibility. Accordingly, the study tries to uncover the structured relationship of the purchase intention by consumers among the corporate social responsibility and the consumers` attitude toward company in order to suggest an alternative for the development to maximize the purchase intention the company. In the other hand, this study tries to find out the different relationships between the corporate social responsibility and the purchase intention, consumers` attitude toward and purchase intention in high-involvement and low-involvement.

CONTINUOUS DEPENDENCE PROPERTIES ON SOLUTIONS OF BACKWARD STOCHASTIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION

2007 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.24 No.1

The existence theorem and continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense for solutions of backward stochastic differential equation (shortly BSDE) with Lipschitz coefficients were respectively established by Pardoux-Peng and Peng in [1,2], Mao and Cao generalized the Pardoux-Peng's existence and uniqueness theorem to BSDE with non-Lipschitz coefficients in [3,4]. The present paper generalizes the Peng's continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense to BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions. Furthermore, this paper investigates the continuous dependence property in "almost surely" sense for BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions, based on the comparison with the classical mathematical expectation.

      • Evaluation of the Geometric Accuracy of Anatomic Landmarks as Surrogates for Intrapulmonary Tumors in Image-guided Radiotherapy

        Li, Hong-Sheng,Kong, Ling-Ling,Zhang, Jian,Li, Bao-Sheng,Chen, Jin-Hu,Zhu, Jian,Liu, Tong-Hai,Yin, Yong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the geometric accuracy of thoracic anatomic landmarks as target surrogates of intrapulmonary tumors for manual rigid registration during image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Methods: Kilovolt cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images acquired during IGRT for 29 lung cancer patients with 33 tumors, including 16 central and 17 peripheral lesions, were analyzed. We selected the "vertebrae", "carina", and "large bronchi" as the candidate surrogates for central targets, and the "vertebrae", "carina", and "ribs" as the candidate surrogates for peripheral lesions. Three to six pairs of small identifiable markers were noted in the tumors for the planning CT and Day 1 CBCT. The accuracy of the candidate surrogates was evaluated by comparing the distances of the corresponding markers after manual rigid matching based on the "tumor" and a particular surrogate. Differences between the surrogates were assessed using 1-way analysis of variance and post hoc least-significant-difference tests. Results: For central targets, the residual errors increased in the following ascending order: "tumor", "bronchi", "carina", and "vertebrae"; there was a significant difference between "tumor" and "vertebrae" (p = 0.010). For peripheral diseases, the residual errors increased in the following ascending order: "tumor", "rib", "vertebrae", and "carina"; There was a significant difference between "tumor" and "carina" (p = 0.005). Conclusions: The "bronchi" and "carina" are the optimal surrogates for central lung targets, while "rib" and "vertebrae" are the optimal surrogates for peripheral lung targets for manual matching of online and planned tumors.

A phase II trial of cytoreductive surgery combined with niraparib maintenance in platinum-sensitive, secondary recurrent ovarian cancer: SGOG SOC-3 study

        Ting-Yan Shi,Sheng Yin,Jianqing Zhu,Ping Zhang,Jihong Liu,Libing Xiang,Yaping Zhu,Sufang Wu,Xiaojun Chen,Xipeng Wang,Yin-Cheng Teng,Tao Zhu,Aijun Yu,Yingli Zhang,Yanling Feng,He Huang,Wei Bao,Yanli Li 2020 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.31 No.3

Background: In China, secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCR) has been widely used in ovarian cancer (OC) over the past two decades. Although Gynecologic Oncology Group-0213 trial did not show its overall survival benefit in first relapsed patients, the questions on patient selection and effect of subsequent targeting therapy are still open. The preliminary data from our pre-SOC1 phase II study showed that selected patients with second relapse who never received SCR at recurrence may still benefit from surgery. Moreover, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) maintenance now has been a standard care for platinum sensitive relapsed OC. To our knowledge, no published or ongoing trial is trying to answer the question if patient can benefit from a potentially complete resection combined with PARPi maintenance in OC patients with secondary recurrence. Methods: SOC-3 is a multi-center, open, randomized, controlled, phase II trial of SCR followed by chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance vs chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance in patients with platinum-sensitive second relapsed OC who never received SCR at recurrence. To guarantee surgical quality, if the sites had no experience of participating in any OC-related surgical trials, the number of recurrent lesions evaluated by central-reviewed positron emission tomography–computed tomography image shouldn't be more than 3. Eligible patients are randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SCR followed by 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance or 6 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy and niraparib maintenance alone. Patients who undergo at least 4 cycles of chemotherapy and must be, in the opinion of the investigator, without disease progression, will be assigned niraparib maintenance. Major inclusion criteria are secondary relapsed OC with a platinum-free interval of no less than 6 months and a possibly complete resection. Major exclusion criteria are borderline tumors and non-epithelial ovarian malignancies, received debulking surgery at recurrence and impossible to complete resection. The sample size is 96 patients. Primary endpoint is 12-month non-progression rate. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03983226

Study of upfront surgery versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery for patients with stage IIIC and IV ovarian cancer, SGOG SUNNY (SOC-2) trial concept

        Rong Jiang,Jianqing Zhu,김재원,Jihong Liu,Kazuyoshi Kato,김희승,Yuqin Zhang,Ping Zhang,Tao Zhu,Daisuke Aoki,Aijun Yu,Xiaojun Chen,Xipeng Wang,Ding Zhu,Wei Zhang,Huixun Jia,Ting-Yan Shi,Wen Gao,Sheng Yin,Yan 대한부인종양학회 2020 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.31 No.5

Background: Two randomized phase III trials (EORTC55971 and CHORUS) showed similarprogression-free and overall survival in primary or interval debulking surgery in ovariancancer, however both studies had limitations with lower rate of complete resection and lack ofsurgical qualifications for participating centers. There is no consensus on whether neoadjuvantchemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery (NACT-IDS) could be a preferred approachin the management of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) in the clinical practice. Methods: The Asian SUNNY study is an open-label, multicenter, randomized controlled, phase III trial to compare the effect of primary debulking surgery (PDS) to NACT-IDS instages IIIC and IV EOC, fallopian tube cancer (FTC) or primary peritoneal carcinoma (PPC). The hypothesis is that PDS enhances the survivorship when compared with NACT-IDS inadvanced ovarian cancer. The primary objective is to clarify the role of PDS and NACT-IDS inthe treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. Surgical quality assures include at least 50% of nogross residual (NGR) in PDS group in all centers and participating centers should be nationalcancer centers or designed ovarian cancer section or those with the experience participatingsurgical trials of ovarian cancer. Any participating center should be monitored evaluatingthe proportions of NGR by a training set. The aim of the surgery in both arms is maximalcytoreduction. Tumor burden of the disease is evaluated by diagnostic laparoscopy orpositron emission tomography/computed tomography scan. Patients assigned to PDS groupwill undergo upfront maximal cytoreductive surgery within 3 weeks after biopsy, followed by6 cycles of standard adjuvant chemotherapy. Patients assigned to NACT group will undergo 3cycles of NACT-IDS, and subsequently 3 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. The maximal timeinterval between IDS and the initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy is 8 weeks. Major inclusioncriteria are pathologic confirmed stage IIIC and IV EOC, FTC or PPC; ECOG performancestatus of 0 to 2; ASA score of 1 to 2. Major exclusion criteria are non-epithelial tumors as wellas borderline tumors; low-grade carcinoma; mucinous ovarian cancer. The sample size is 456subjects. Primary endpoint is overall survival.
