<P>A new poly(octathiophene) based copolymer was designed and synthesized by the palladium catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. The structure of the newly obtained copolymer was confirmed by 1H-NMR and IR. The number-average molecular weight (M(n)) of the polymer was 36,000 with a poly-dispersity index of 1.15. The polymer has good solubility in common solvents such as chloroform, toluene, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and tetrahydrofuran at room temperature. The optical, thermal and electrochemical properties of the polymer were characterized by UV-vis absorption, TGA and DSC and cyclovoltametry, respectively. A thin film transistor using the new polymer as an organic semiconductor was found to exhibit typical p-channel FET characteristics with a hole mobility of 5 x 10(-4) cm2/Vs.</P>

Vascular thrombosis in the venous or arterial system is quite common in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE), especially in patients who have active disease with vasculitis and antiphospholipid antibodies(aPL). These thrombotic events usually developed on deep veins of the lower extremities and very rarely occur on the upper extremities. The upper extremity deep vein thrombosis(UEDVT) is a relatively rare disease, constituting about 2% of all cases of deep venous thrombosis, and usually occurs axially and subclavian vein. Here, we report an unusual case of brachial and basilica vein thrombosis in a 34-yr-old woman with SLE after taking oral contraceptives for 3months before the onset of upper-extremity deep vein thrombosis(UEDVT). Venous Doppler ultrasonography and CT images showed thrombosis and thrombophlebeitis of the brachial and basilica vein of the left arm. Thrombophilia work-up including IgM and IgG anticardiolipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulant were negative. Protein C, Protein S, and antithrombin 3 levels were within normal range. The patient was started anticoagulation therapy and oral contraceptives were discontinued. After that, she was asymptomatic and she had been treated with aspirin 100mg/day.
Four Consecutive Recurrent Abortions in Patient with Essential Thrombocythemia

Essential thrombocythemia (ET) is characterized by most cases in which platelet counts exceed 1 million/μL. ET is usually no symptoms during non-pregnancy, but arterial and venous thrombosis and hemorrhage may develop in pregnancy. Pregnancy in these patients is associated with many complications in both pregnant women and fetuses such as recurrent abortion, intrauterine fetal growth restriction, preterm delivery, preeclampsia, and stillbirth. In these patients, aspirin, low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH), and interferon alpha (INF-α) are recommended during pregnancy. We report a case of four consecutive abortions despite being treated with INF-α, low dose aspirin, and LMWH in patient with ET.
Age-Related Changes in Sulfur Amino Acid Metabolism in Male C57BL/6 Mice

Alterations in sulfur amino acid metabolism are associated with an increased risk of a number of common late-life diseases, which raises the possibility that metabolism of sulfur amino acids may change with age. The present study was conducted to understand the age-related changes in hepatic metabolism of sulfur amino acids in 2-, 6-, 18- and 30-month-old male C57BL/6 mice. For this purpose, metabolite profiling of sulfur amino acids from methionine to taurine or glutathione (GSH) was performed. The levels of sulfur amino acids and their metabolites were not significantly different among 2-, 6- and 18-month-old mice, except for plasma GSH and hepatic homocysteine. Plasma total GSH and hepatic total homocysteine levels were significantly higher in 2-month-old mice than those in the other age groups. In contrast, 30-month-old mice exhibited increased hepatic methionine and cysteine, compared with all other groups, but decreased hepatic S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), S-adenosylhomocysteine and homocysteine, relative to 2-month-old mice. No differences in hepatic reduced GSH, GSH disulfide, or taurine were observed. The hepatic changes in homocysteine and cysteine may be attributed to upregulation of cystathionine ${\beta}-synthase$ and down-regulation of ${\gamma}-glutamylcysteine$ ligase in the aged mice. The elevation of hepatic cysteine levels may be involved in the maintenance of hepatic GSH levels. The opposite changes of methionine and SAM suggest that the regulatory role of SAM in hepatic sulfur amino acid metabolism may be impaired in 30-month-old mice.

정보통신기술의 발달과 정부의 ICT 확산 보급 사업으로 스마트팜 시설을 도입하는 농가는 증가하는 경향이다. 스마트팜 시설에서 생성되는 빅데이터를 활용하여 데이터 기반의 최적 생육조건을 분석하여 스마트팜 영농현장에 접목시키는 연구혁신이 이루어지고 있다. 시설채소 스마트팜에서 생산성 향상을 위해 생육전주기 생육정보와 환경정보를 분석해서 완숙토마토, 딸기 등 생산성 향상 모델이 발표되고 있다. 그러나 스마트팜 오이는 빅데이터 기반의 생산성 향상모델은 연구는 미미한 실정이지만, 경기, 충북, 경북 등 지역의 오이 주산단지에서는 스마트팜을 도입하는 농장이 증가하고 있다. 경기지역에서 촉성재배하는 오이 스마트팜 최적 환경관리 모델을 개발하기 위해 2018년부터 오이 스마트팜의 빅데이터를 수집하였다. 데이터 수집기간과 규모의 한계가 있지만 환경관리에 따라 촉성재배 오이 스마트팜 생산량을 예측하고자 하였다. 2018년부터 오이 스마트팜 농가에서 온실내외부의 온습도, 일사량, 이산화탄소 등과 양액의 온습도, pH, EC 등의 환경정보와 초장, 마디수, 절간장, 줄기직경, 엽장, 엽폭, 엽수, 열매수, 암꽃수, 과장, 과폭, 주당 과중, 주당 열매수 등 13항목의 생육정보를 수집하여 분석하였다. 상관분석 결과에 따르면 오이 생산량에 영향을 미치는 생육정보는 엽면적, 초장, 성숙과 등으로 파악되었고, 오이생산량과 높은 상관관계를 보이는 생육조건에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 환경요인은 시설내부온도, 배지온도, 시설내부야간온도 등으로 나타났다. 오이의 엽면적은 시설내부온도> 시설내부야간온도> 배지온도> 시설내의 주야간온도차 등 순으로 상관관계가 높았고, 오이의 초장은 배지온도>배지EC> 시설내부온도 > 시설내부 광량 등 순이었고, 오이의 성숙과는 시설 내 주야간 온도차> 시설내부의 온도 순으로 높은 상관관계를 나타냈다. 따라서 촉성재배 오이 스마트팜 생산량에는 엽면적, 초장, 성숙과 등이 영향을 미치며, 오이 엽면적, 초장, 성숙과를 안정적으로 확보하기 위해서는 시설 내 온도, 시설 내 야간온도, 배지의 온도가 중요하였다. 스마트팜 오이 생산량 예측 모델의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서는 빅데이터 수집 농가수를 확대하여 지속적인 빅데이터 수집분석이 필요했다.
