A Development of Assessment Model for Maintenance of Type R Fire Alarm System in the Building
Lee,Su-Kyung,Yoo,Sang-Bin,Nam,Yang-Won 한국화재소방학회 1997 한국화재소방학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.1997 No.-
Type R fire alarm is required intelligent buildings and height buildings which was based on automatic system. But in Korea, maintenance of fire alarm system is very poor. In this study, we developed assessment model for the type R fire alarm system which was assessed by using 96 checklist items. The assessment model was tested through the actual 4 buildings with type R fire alarm system. It is shown that present model can be applied for the assessment of all buildings through the examination of the suitability of assessment model by actual assessment. Also, it was made easily fire manager to carry out checklist for type R fire alarm system in buildings.

The purpose of this study is economic analysis of heating and cooling systems that are using gas, geothermal energy through life cycle cost analysis. The adapted research method selected the office building in Seoul region. The building is 15 stories and have total floor area of 270,000㎡. And the capacity of heating and cooling system applied in new building is 700RT to 750RT as a scale of heating and cooling system that can provide same capacity. The Adapted LCC Analysis period on 40 years. Comparing and analyzing life cycle cost about each heating and cooling system in cases, economical evaluation is estimated. The results are as follows: 1) The total life cycle cost of gas heating and cooling system is approximately 7,979million won, the total life cycle cost of geothermal heating and cooling system is approximately 8,073million won. 2) The cost of the geothermal heating and cooling system is higher than gas heating and cooling system about 1.18%. Thus, optimal plan is the gas heating and cooling system.
Cystic Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma: A Case of Undergoing Endoscopic Thyroid Lobectomy
Dong Hae Chung,Jae Yeon Seok,Yoo Seung Chung1,Eun Mee Oh1,Jung Won Ryu1,Young Don Lee1 대한갑상선-내분비외과학회 2015 The Koreran journal of Endocrine Surgery Vol.15 No.1
On ultrasonography, medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) shows hypoechogenicity, an irregular margin, a predominantly solid composition, and microcalcifications, similar to those observed in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). MTC presenting as a cystic lesion is rare, and endoscopic thyroidectomy can be performed for benign thyroid masses and early stage PTC, however it is inappropriate for MTC regardless of cystic change. The authors report a case of cystic MTC found after endoscopic thyroid lobectomy and provide a review of the literature on this topic.
Genotoxic Effects of the Cooked - Food - Related Mutagens IQ and Trp - p - 2 in Drosophila
Lee, Won Ho,Yoo, Mi Ae,Park, Tae Dong,Choo, Jong Kil 한국유전학회 1987 Genes & Genomics Vol.9 No.4
The heterocyclic amines, IQ and Trp-p-2 are the cooked-food-related carcinogens. To know genotoxic effects of IQ and Trp-p-2 in Drosophila, sensitivity to killing, somatic gene mutations and somatic chromosome mutations were measured in repair-deficient strain and repair-proficient strain after larval treatment. Gene mutations were detected with eye-color spot test system and chromosome mutations with wing spot test system. The relative potency of these two compounds in Drosophila will be discussed with the different response of mammalian system and Salmonella system.

This study was designed to examine the effects of histamine on gastric motility and its specific receptor in the circular smooth muscle of the human gastric corpus. Histamine mainly produced tonic relaxation in a concentration-dependent and reversible manner, although histamine enhanced contractility in a minor portion of tissues tested. Histamine-induced tonic relaxation was nerve-insensitive because pretreatment with nerve blockers cocktail (NBC) did not inhibit relaxation. Additionally, $K^+$ channel blockers, such as tetraethylammonium (TEA), apamin (APA), and glibenclamide (Glib), had no effect. However, $N^G$-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) and 1H-(1,2,4)oxadiazolo (4,3-A) quinoxalin-1-one (ODQ), an inhibitor of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), did inhibit histamine-induced tonic relaxation. In particular, histamine-induced tonic relaxation was converted to tonic contraction by pretreatment with L-NAME. Ranitidine, the $H_2$ receptor blocker, inhibited histamine-induced tonic relaxation. These findings suggest that histamine produced relaxation in circular smooth muscle of human gastric smooth muscle through $H_2$ receptor and NO/sGC pathways.
Effect of PRX-1 Downregulation in the Type 1 Diabetes Microenvironment
Yoo, Jong-Sun,Lee, Yun-Jung,Hyung, Kyeong Eun,Yoon, Joo Won,Lee, Ik Hee,Park, So-Young,Hwang, Kwang Woo The Korean Society of Pharmacology 2012 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.16 No.6
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is caused by dysregulation of the immune system in the pancreatic islets, which eventually leads to insulin-producing pancreatic ${\beta}$-cell death and destabilization of glucose homeostasis. One of the major characteristics of T1D pathogenesis is the production of inflammatory mediators by macrophages that result in destruction or damage of pancreatic ${\beta}$-cells. In this study the inflammatory microenvironment of T1D was simulated with RAW264.7 cells and MIN6 cells, acting as macrophages and pancreatic ${\beta}$-cells respectably. In this setting, peroxiredoxin-1, an anti-oxidant enzyme was knocked down to observe its functions in the pathogenesis of T1D. RAW264.7 cells were primed with lipopolysaccharide and co-cultured with MIN6 cells while PRX-1 was knocked down in one or both cell types. Our results suggest that hindrance of PRX-1 activity or the deficiency of this enzyme in inflammatory conditions negatively affects pancreatic ${\beta}$-cell survival. The observed decrease in viability of MIN6 cells seems to be caused by nitric oxide production. Additionally, it seems that PRX-1 affects previously reported protective activity of IL-6 in pancreatic ${\beta}$ cells as well. These results signify new, undiscovered roles for PRX-1 in inflammatory conditions and may contribute toward our understanding of autoimmunity.

Background: Because chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a heterogeneous disorder, various factors could be associated with the severity of pneumonia in patients with COPD. Therefore, we examined the risk factors associated with severe pneumonia in a COPD population. Methods: A retrospective observational study with a prospectively collected database of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) was conducted between 2008 and 2012. Patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia, immunocompromised patients, and those without a baseline computed tomography (CT) scan were excluded. As a result, 150 patients with COPD and CAP were included. Results: Of the 150 patients, 106 (70.7%) and 44 (29.3%) were classified with non-severe and severe pneumonia, respectively. A multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the presence of pulmonary emphysema on a CT scan (odds ratio, 2.933; 95% confi dence interval, 1.144 7.516; P = 0.025) was independently associated with severe pneumonia in patients with COPD. However, no signifi cant difference in severity of the air ow limitation, presence of bronchiectasis, previous COPD medicationincluding inhaled corticosteroids, or pathogens was identifi ed between those with non-severe and severe pneumonia. Conclusions: The presence of pulmonary emphysema on a CT scan at the time of admission to the hospital of a patient with COPD was independently associated with severe pneumonia in a COPD population.
