Four Unrecorded Wood Decay Fungi from Seoul in Korea

During the investigation of Korean indigenous fungi from Seoul, three genera-Fuscoporia, Porostereum, and Trametopsis, and four species-Fuscoporia senex, Phlebia acerina, Porostereum spadiceum, and Trametopsis cervina were found. Their morphological characteristics were examined and their identification was confirmed by molecular analysis based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA region sequences. These fungi are new to Korea and registered here with descriptions.

Stenosis of central vein is a common complication arising after percutaneous subclavian vein catheter insertion performed for temporary vascular access in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. There are several treatment methods for the condition like percutaneous angioplasty(PTA), stent insertion, and surgery, but recent trend is toward PTA and stents. Among the patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure from March 1993 to May 2002 and undergoing hemodialysis through AV fistula, the 14 Patients in whom central vein stenosis arose were selected for the study. A total of 28 percutaneous interventions(5 PTA and 23 stent placement) were performed, and restenosis rate and the time taken till the restenosis in de novo lesions and instant lesions were compared. All 28 cases were operated successfully. The 14 cases that received both anigioplasty and stent placement initially. (de novo lesion : 14 cases), Among the 10 cases with de novo lesion that followed up more than 1 year, 3 cases are currently undergoing hemodialysis without restenosis, and the remaining 7 cases have recurred stenosis with the mean time to restenosis of 10.9 months. In the 7 cases in whom stenosis recurred, 11 interventions were done(instent lesion: 11 cases). 4 of these were using only ballon angioplasty with 100% restenosis rate and the mean time of 3 months until restenosis. The remaining 7 cases were using both balloon angioplasty and stent placement, also with 100% restenosis rate but with the mean time of 12 months until restenosis, which was later than the group receiving only balloon angioplasty. In treating the patients with central vein stenosis, stent placement seems to be more advantageous over PTA in terms of restenosis rate and the mean duration of patency. In the case of instent lesion, inserting the stent for the second time after stenosis recurred lengthened the duration of patency compared to performing balloon angioplasty alone.

대규모 사업비가 소요되는 U-City 사업의 특성상 객관적인 사업성 평가는 매우 중요하다. 사업성 평가를 위해 일반적으로 사용되는 산업연관분석을 U-City에 적용하기 위해서는 우선적으로 U-City 산업에 대한 적절한 분류가 선행되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 법률에서 규정된 정의를 중심으로 U-City 산업을 분류함으로써 U-City 산업 분류에 대한 객관적이고 적절한 대안을 모색해보고자 한다. 이 분류안은 다양한 U-City 사업의 장기적 산업파급효과 측정을 위한 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Synthesis and Characterization of Poly[N-(4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl)-2-ethynylpyridinium chloride]

<P>An ionic polyacetylene with 4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl substituents was easily prepared via the non-catalyst polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine using 4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride. The polymerization proceeded in homogeneous manner to give a moderate yield of polymer (65 %). The polymer structure was characterized by such instrumental methods as IR, NMR, and UV-visible spectroscopies to have the conjugated backbone system with the designed N-(4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl)pyridinium chloride. The photoluminescence peak was observed at 584nm corresponding to a photon energy of 2.12eV although it is weak due to nitro group. Based on absorption spectrum, band gap was 2.16eV. The cyclic voltammograms of polymer exhibited the electrochemically stable window at the -1.8 approximate to 1.50V region. Oxidation and reduction were started at 0.43 and -0.9V and had stable electrochemical property up to 30 cycles.</P>

<P>A new poly(aryleneethynylene) was synthesized from the palladium-catalyzed carbon-carbon coupling condensation of 4-[(tert-butyldimethylsiloxy)methyl]-1,6-heptadiyne and p-diiodobenzene. This polymerization proceeded well in mild reaction conditions to give a high yield of polymer (92%). The polymer structure was characterized by such instrumental methods as infrared and NMR spectroscopies. This polymer was completely soluble in common organic solvents such as chloroform, chlorobenzene, toluene, and xylene. The X-ray diffractogram of polymer powder showed that this polymer is amorphous. In the DSC thermogram of polymer, a broad exothermic peak was observed around 205 degrees C (started at 140 degrees C) in the first heating, whereas there was no exothermic peak in the second heating. When this polymer was excited at 272 nm, it gave PL maximum emissions at 327 and 380 nm.</P>
