A POWER CONSUMPTION ANALYSIS OF GENERAL-PURPOSE BLUETOOTH WIRELESS COMMNICATION MODULES

This paper reports the measurement results of the operating current and the throughput for Bluetooth wireless communication modules. Recently, various wireless communication equipments that operate at 2.4 ㎓ frequency are used. Especially, Bluetooth, which operates at 2.4 ㎓ frequency, is installed for mobile devices such as mobile phones and music players, and can be expected to be used widely in the future. To use Bluetooth wireless communications capability on the equipment without those capability, ZEAL series which is general-purpose Bluetooth wireless communication modules released by ADC Technology. In ZEAL, there are two types of modules with the differences of Bluetooth classes. One is Bluetooth class 1 ZEAL-S01 that allows communicating over the 100m range. The other is Bluetooth class 2 ZEAL-C01 that allows communicating over the 10m range. In addition, there are three power levels of low-power level, standard level, and hi-speed level in ZEAL-C01 with firmware version 2.0.2.1. Then, to investigate power consumption and the throughput in each power levels in ZEAL-C01, those operation current and the throughput is measured for ten of baud rates that are from 2,400 bps to 921,600 bps. As a result, the supply current of all modules doesn’t depend on the baud rate. As a result, we have obtained the result that range of throughput that can be used to communicate actually in ZEAL-C01 at each levels.
Improvement of Face Detection Method using Haar-Like Features

Recently, utilization of the face information for human detection becomes the focus of attention in many situations. In any case, object detection system needs a fast and high-accuracy ability. Viola et al. introduced a rapid object detection system using a Haar-Like features based on rectangle features [1]. These features are so simple that they can apply everything to detection. However, these features take a large computational cost to detect complex objects. This paper has proposed adaptive Haar-Like features which are novel sets of features using target's texture. Experimental result showed that our method had less computational cost and higher performance than these of the conventional method.
Application of High Gain Adaptive Output Feedback Control to a Magnetic Levitation System

This paper shows application results of a high gain adaptive output feedback control to a magnetic levitation system. Usual high gain output feedback control can not be applied to the magnetic levitation system, since it is an unstable system with a relative degree greater than one and uncertain nonlinearities in control input term. In the applied method, a high gain adaptive output feedback controller is designed by introducing two different virtual filters and using backstepping strategy. The application results are shown in the numerical simulations and experiments.

Tsushima is an island located between Japan and Korea. Inhabitants of Tsushima had to speak Korean when they traded with Korea to receive provisions. Matsubara Shinemon was a superior interpreter about the technical side. We can comform it from a lot of topics in "Chosen Monogatari". He could live at Pusan and he could have extensive knowledge about Japanese citys. But he could not understand Korea in its totality, and objectly. He was an interpreter, not a scholar like Amenomori Hosyu. Amenomori was a Confucian scholar of the first rank, and was expert in diplomacy, having a good command of Korean and Chinese. Amenomori`s view of Korea had the objectivite standpoint. Matsubara`s view of Korea had many limits. It was prejudiced by his thought lacking in scholarship. And it was related with the historical view to invase Korea, and succeeded through 18th century.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We study the bifurcation problem of positive solutions for the one-dimensional ( p , q ) -Laplace equation with nonlinear term <SUP> u r − 1 </SUP> . There are five types of order relations for ( p , q , r ) . We investigate the exact shape of the bifurcation curve in each type of the order relation. We prove that there are two types of bifurcation curves that are increasing, two types that are decreasing, and one that is not monotone and turns exactly once. Moreover, we study the asymptotic profile of the normalized solution u ( x ) / <SUB> ‖ u ‖ ∞ </SUB> as <SUB> ‖ u ‖ ∞ </SUB> → 0 or <SUB> ‖ u ‖ ∞ </SUB> → ∞ , where <SUB> ‖ u ‖ ∞ </SUB> denotes the <SUP> L ∞ </SUP> -norm of <I>u</I>.</P>

This study was conducted to assess the ability of two-dimensional tissue tracking (2DTT) to evaluate changes in left ventricular (LV) myocardial function associated with sustained high electrical pacing. Pacemakers were implanted at the right ventricular (RV) apex of five female Beagles, and sustained high electrical pacing of 250 beats per minute (bpm) was performed for three consecutive weeks. Conventional echocardiography and 2DTT were performed at baseline, and at every week for three weeks with pacing. The baseline parameters were then compared to those of weeks 1, 2, and 3. Three weeks of pacing resulted in significant reduction of radial and circumferential global strains (p < 0.001). Regional analysis revealed reduction of segmental strains in both radial and circumferential directions, as well as increased dyssynchrony after three weeks of pacing in the radial direction (p = 0.0007). The results of this study revealed the ability of 2DTT to measure radial and circumferential strains in dogs with sustained high-electrical pacing, and allowed assessment of global and regional myocardial function and the degree of dyssynchrony.

Hip dysplasia is the most common cause of secondary osteoarthritis (OA). To prevent the early onset of secondary OA, Nishio’s transposition osteotomy, Steel’s triple osteotomy, Eppright’s dial osteotomy, Wagner’s spherical acetabular osteotomy, Tagawa’s rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO), and Ganz’ periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) have been proposed. PAO and RAO are now commonly used in surgical treatment of symptomatic acetabular dysplasia in Europe, North America, and Asia. The aim of this paper is to present the followings: the patient selection criteria for RAO; the surgical technique of RAO; the long-term outcome of RAO; and the future perspectives.
