Dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) was examined as a counter-ion in the separation of aromatic sulfonic acids on alkylmodified silica (ODS) column by reversed-phase ion-pair chromatography. The capacity factor of acids was investigated and separation was attempted. The capacity factor of samples was influenced by the several factors such as a concentration of counter-ion, concentration of methanol, kinds and concentration of electrolyte in mobile phase as well as kind and position of functional group in samples, Some mixtures of samples were able to be separated under optimum condition.
간접 분광광도 검출법을 이용한 비발색 음이온들의 액체 크로마토그래피

The separation of non-chromophoric anions were studied on the ion-cxchange chromatography method by HPLC.a-Naphthalenesulfonic acid(α-NS) was used as a visualization agent as well as ion-exchange agent in this experiments by indirect photometric detection method. Also, several factors affecting to the retention time and the separations of samples were investigated. And, the following results were obtained in this study. 1. These non-chromophoric anions were detected by the indirect photometric detection method at the 285nm for α-NS 2. The capacity factor of samples was influenced by the concentration of α-NS and the strength of organic solvent. 3. Some mixtures of samples were able to separated with good resolution and relatively high sensitivity providing detection limit of 0.1㎍ under optimum condition.

Tsutsugamushi disease is an acute febrile illness caused by Orientie. tsutsugsmushi. It is characterized by fever, myalgia, lymphadenopathy, and rash. And it can be easily diagnosed by characteristic eschar and serologic testing. Nearly all of the patients with tsutsugamushi disease improve with antibiotics such as doxycycline. However, the fatality rate of untreated cases is seven to ten percent. Splenic infarction is not common disease which is caused by occlusion of the main splenic artery or any of its branches. It is mainly caused by emboli that arise from cardiovascular disease, but sometimes by regional thrombosis associated with leukemia, myeloproliferative disorder, sickle cell anemia, pancreatitis, splenic torsion and septicemia. We experienced one case of tsutsugamushi disease with splenic infarction, which was improved after doxycycline treatment finished.

Conformation with a hydrogen bond between the C_6 methoxyl and C_19 hydroxyl group among Diels-Alder adducts of thebaine and thebaine derivatives makes the molecule more rigid. To examine this hypothesis, new compound eliminated the intramolecular hydrogen bonding as a factor in determining the active conformation of the alkyl chain were available. A compound which the C_19 hydroxyl group has been replaced by a hydrogen has been synthesized as follows: Thevinone 3 has been prepared from thebaine by means of Diels-Alder reaction. Primary alcohol 7 has been prepared from Ketone 3 via epoxide 5 and aldehyde 6. This alcohol 7 underwent reaction with mesyl chloride to afford mesylate 8. Further reaction afforded 4, 5 α-epoxy-3, 6-dimethoxy-α-n-butyl-α, 17-dimethyl-6, 14-ethenomorphinan by displacement with propyl lithium cuprate.
The Chemical Reactivity of Benzpyrene Calculated by the Frontier Electron and Perturbation Methods

콘쥬게이트된 benzpyrene에 대한 전자 상태와 반응성을 조사하기 위하여 Hu¨ckel 분자궤도함수법을 이용하여 프론티어 궤도의 에너지 상태 및 Superdelocalizability 같은 반응성 차수 및 결합자수를 계산하였다. 화학적 반응성은 최고 점유분자 궤도와 최저 비점유 분자궤도의 차이 ΔEπ 값을 각각 비교함으로써 여기되기 쉬운 상태에 있으며, Superdelocaliability 값은 S_r(E)>S_r(R)>S_r(N) 순으로 나타났으며 친선지적 반응이 지배적으로 나타낼 수 있음을 알았다.
Development of Novel Microsatellite Markers for Strain-Specific Identification of Chlorella vulgaris

A strain-specific identification method is required to secure Chlorella strains with useful genetic traits, such as a fast growth rate or high lipid productivity, for application in biofuels, functional foods, and pharmaceuticals. Microsatellite markers based on simple sequence repeats can be a useful tool for this purpose. Therefore, this study developed five novel microsatellite markers (mChl-001, mChl-002, mChl-005, mChl-011, and mChl-012) using specific loci along the chloroplast genome of Chlorella vulgaris. The microsatellite markers were characterized based on their allelic diversities among nine strains of C. vulgaris with the same 18S rRNA sequence similarity. Each microsatellite marker exhibited 2~5 polymorphic allele types, and their combinations allowed discrimination between seven of the C. vulgaris strains. The two remaining strains were distinguished using one specific interspace region between the mChl-001 and mChl-005 loci, which was composed of about 27 single nucleotide polymorphisms, 13~15 specific sequence sites, and (T)n repeat sites. Thus, the polymorphic combination of the five microsatellite markers and one specific locus facilitated a clear distinction of C. vulgaris at the strain level, suggesting that the proposed microsatellite marker system can be useful for the accurate identification and classification of C. vulgaris.
The Learning Curve for Laparoscopic Totally Extraperitoneal Herniorrhaphy by Logarithmic Function

Purpose: Totally extraperitoneal (TEP) hernia repair has gained in popularity in the past two decades. Despite the advantages TEP hernia repair, the approach is hindered by the relatively long learning curve of the surgery. We tried to estimate the necessary number of repetitions of TEP hernia repair in the learning curve using logarithmic and exponential function models.Methods: We performed a retrospective review of all patients who underwent TEP hernia repair by a single surgeon consecutively at a single center. We calculated how many operations were needed to achieve a reduction in the expected operating time to mean operating time using logarithmic and exponential function models.Results: In the 91 patients, the logarithmic function model predicted that 37 cases were needed to overcome the learning curve for TEP hernia repair while the exponential model predicted that 39 cases were needed.Conclusion: According to this study, at least 37 to 39 cases are needed in the overcome learning curve of TEP hernia repair. Further studies are needed to optimize surgical education and maximize quality.
