이미숙(Misook Lee),김희섭(Heesop Kim),홍순구(Soongoo Hong) 한국인터넷전자상거래학회 2015 인터넷전자상거래연구 Vol.15 No.1
This study investigated the impact of silver generation’s life happiness and satisfaction on the perceived usefulness and the willingness to use internet, aimed at seniors living in Daegu/Gyongbuk area. The ratio of seniors is increasing rapidly and the ICT(Information and Communication Technology) develops at a great speed. However, senior’s ability to adapt new life surrounded by ICT is not fast enough to catch it"s development speed. Based on this reason, this study focused on which factors affect on the willingness to use internet. The result of this study showed that the happiness and life satisfaction of seniors influenced the perceived usefulness significantly. In addition the perceived usefulness affected on the senior’s willingness to use internet. This result implied that senior"s happiness and life satisfaction plays an important role on their willingness to use internet.
RTP1, a Rat Homologue of Adenovirus ElA-associated Protein BS69, Interacts with DNA Topoisomerase II

Topoisomearse II is an essential enzyme in all organisms with several independent roles in DNA metabolism. Recently, it has been demonstrated that the C-terminal region of topoisomerases II is associated with hetero-logous protein-protein interactions in human and yeast. In this study, we identified that RTP1, a rat homologue of EIA binding protein BS69, is another topoisomerae II interacting protein by yeast two-hybrid screening. RTP1 has an E1A-binding domain and a MYND motif, which are known to be required for transcriptional regulation by binding to other proteins and interaction with the leucine zipper motif of topoisomerase II. The physical interaction between RTP1 and topoisomerase ll$\alpha$ was examined by GST pull-down assay in vitro. The expression level of RTP1 peaks in S phase as that of topoisomerase ll$\alpha$. These results suggest that the interaction between topoisomerase ll$\alpha$ and RTP1 might play an important role in regulating the transcription of genes involved in DNA metabolism in higher eukaryotes.
실버세대의 정보 활용능력이 삶의 행복감에 미치는 영향 분석
이미숙(Misook Lee),김희섭(Heesop Kim),홍순구(Soongoo Hong) 한국산업정보학회 2015 한국산업정보학회논문지 Vol.20 No.2
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship of information literacy, life satisfaction, and life happiness of the silver generation, and to suggest the direction for their happy life. We conducted a questionnaire survey targeted at the Internet users of over 60 years old adults living in Daegu/Gyongbuk areas. Data were analyzed using 238 valid samples. With the results, it revealed that the silver generations’ life satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between their information literacy and their life happiness. Future studies are also discussed in this paper.

<P>Pancreatic β-cells are very sensitive to oxidative stress and this might play an important role in β-cell death in diabetes. In the present study, we investigated whether the brown alga Ecklonia cava has protective effects against high glucose-induced damage in INS-1 pancreatic β-cells. For that purpose, we prepared an enzymatic hydrolysate from E. cava (EHE) by using the carbohydrase, Celluclast. High-glucose (30?mM) treatment induced glucotoxicity, whereas EHE prevented cells from high glucose-induced damage then restoring cell viability was significantly increased. Furthermore, lipid peroxidation, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) were overproduced as the result of the treatment by high glucose; however, these lipid peroxidation, ROS and NO generations were effectively inhibited by addition of EHE in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, EHE treatment increased activities of antioxidant enzymes including catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px) in high glucose pretreated INS-1 pancreatic β-cells. EHE slightly reduced the expression of pro-apoptotic protein Bax induced by high glucose but increased the expression of Bcl-2, an anti-apoptotic protein. These findings indicate that EHE might be used as potential nutraceutical agent which will protect the glucotoxicity caused by hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress associated with diabetes.</P>

This research presents a performance-based design framework for thermal walks in urban settings, using Outdoor Thermal Comfort (OTC) and human behavior simulation. The methodology distinctively incorporates both physical and social parameters into the OTC evaluation, allowing for their consideration in the early design stages a facet frequently neglected in traditional OTC research and design integration. We developed an algorithm to transition OTC data, sourced from ENVI-met, into the human behavior simulation environment of Unity 3D. Based on OTC levels, we examined the variations in human behavior, specifically in terms of pedestrian routes and timing. Test cases highlight the potential for human social factors to interact with the design process of outdoor comfort. This novel approach significantly advances the effectiveness of performance-based design, offering improved design decisions and yielding profound implications for outdoor spaces, landscapes, pedestrian pathways, and comprehensive urban planning strategies. Further tests, analyses, and design implementation cases will be undertaken in future research.

<P>We investigated the physical properties of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) atomic crystals with a sulfur vacancy passivation after treatment with alkanethiol molecules including their electrical, Raman, and photoluminescence (PL) characteristics. MoS2, one of the transition metal dichalcogenide materials, is a promising two-dimensional semiconductor material with good physical properties. It is known that sulfur vacancies exist in MoS2, resulting in the n-type behavior of MoS2. The sulfur vacancies on the MoS2 surface tend to form covalent bonds with sulfur-containing groups. In this study, we deposited alkanethiol molecules on MoS2 field effect transistors (FETs) and then characterized the electrical properties of the devices before and after the alkanethiol treatment. We observed that the electrical characteristics of MoS2 FETs dramatically changed after the alkanethiol treatment. We also observed that the Raman and PL spectra of MoS2 films changed after the alkanethiol treatment. These effects are attributed to the thiol (−SH) end groups in alkanethiols bonding at sulfur vacancy sites, thus altering the physical properties of the MoS2. This study will help us better understand the electrical and optical properties of MoS2 and suggest a way of tailoring the properties of MoS2 by passivating a sulfur vacancy with thiol molecules.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2015/ancac3.2015.9.issue-8/acsnano.5b04400/production/images/medium/nn-2015-04400s_0010.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn5b04400'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
