Tin Layer as a Solid Lubricant for Cold Tube Drawing Processes
Mahesh Patil,Varinder Singh,Amit Kumar Gupta,Srinivasa Prakash Regalla,Tufan Chandra Bera,Bade Simhachalam,Krishna Srinivas 한국정밀공학회 2022 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.9 No.2
This paper reports an investigation into the deployment of a thin layer of tin as a lubricant on low carbon steel tube for tube drawing process. The layer was deposited using electro-deposition technique using a green technology of citric acid based electrolyte bath. Coating layer is characterized using SEM, EDS and 3D digital microscopy technique before and after drawing processes. Experimental trials of drawing operation were conducted and promising results were observed with respect to drawing load and surface quality. The observed drawing load is comparable to that with the conventional lubrication system thereby proving the effectiveness of the new proposed lubrication system. The use of proposed lubrication resulted in greatly improved finish as well as better corrosion resistance yielding an additional promise for better value in service life, better market potential as well as a gain on environment front as the proposed method has the potential to eliminate some after operations after drawing as the drawn tube is ready to use after drawing operation.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize pathogen/damage-associated molecular patterns and initiate inflammatory signaling cascades. Occasionally, overexpression of TLRs leads to the onset of numerous inflammatory diseases, necessitating the development of selective inhibitors to allow a protective yet balanced immune response. Here, we demonstrate that a novel peptide (TIP1) derived from Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain-containing adapter protein inhibited multiple TLR signaling pathways (MyD88-dependent and MyD88-independent) in murine and human cell lines. TIP1 also inhibited NLRP3-mediated IL-1β secretion, as we validated at both the protein and mRNA levels. Biophysical experiments confirmed that TIP1 specifically binds to the BB loop of the TLR4-TIR domain. Animal studies revealed that TIP1 inhibited the secretion of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced proinflammatory cytokines in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) and kaolin/carrageenan-induced arthritis (K/C) rodent models. TIP1 also rescued animals from sepsis and from LPS-induced kidney/liver damage. Importantly, TIP1 ameliorated the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in CIA and K/C rodent models, suggesting that TIP1 has therapeutic potential for the treatment of TLR-mediated autoimmune/inflammatory diseases.

An effort has been made to establish a relation between Zener–Hollomon parameter, flow stress and dynamic recrystallization(DRX). In this context, the plastic flow behavior of Ti + Nb stabilized interstitial free (IF) steel was investigated in atemperature range of 650–1100 °C and at constant true strain rates in the range 10−3–10 s−1, to a total true strain of 0.7. Theflow stress curves can be categorized into two distinct types, i.e. with/without the presence of steady-state flow followingpeak stress behavior. A novel constitutive model comprising the strain effect on the activation energy of DRX and othermaterial constants has been established to predict the constitutive flow behavior of the IF steel in both α and γ phase regions, separately. Predicted flow stress seems to correlate well with the experimental data both in γ and α phase regions with ahigh correlation coefficient (0.982 and 0.936, respectively) and low average absolute relative error (7 and 11%, respectively)showing excellent fitting. A detailed analysis of the flow stress, activation energy of DRX and stress exponent in accord withthe modelled equations suggests that dislocation glide controlled by dislocation climb is the dominant mechanism for theDRX, as confirmed by the transmission electron microscopy analysis.
Detection of Microcalcification Using the Wavelet Based Adaptive Sigmoid Function and Neural Network

Mammogram images are sensitive in nature and even a minor change in the environment affects the quality of the images. Due to the lack of expert radiologists, it is difficult to interpret the mammogram images. In this paper an algorithm is proposed for a computer-aided diagnosis system, which is based on the wavelet based adaptive sigmoid function. The cascade feed-forward back propagation technique has been used for training and testing purposes. Due to the poor contrast in digital mammogram images it is difficult to process the images directly. Thus, the images were first processed using the wavelet based adaptive sigmoid function and then the suspicious regions were selected to extract the features. A combination of texture features and gray-level co-occurrence matrix features were extracted and used for training and testing purposes. The system was trained with 150 images, while a total 100 mammogram images were used for testing. A classification accuracy of more than 95% was obtained with our proposed method.

Krishnatreya, Manigreeva,Kataki, Amal Chandra,Sharma, Jagannath Dev,Nandy, Pintu,Rahman, Tashnin,Kumar, Mahesh,Gogoi, Gayatri,Hoque, Nazmul Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.24
Background: There are various patient and professional factors responsible for the delay in start of treatment (SOT) for head and neck cancers (HNC). Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on data for HNC patients registered at the hospital cancer registry in North-East India. All cases diagnosed during the period of January 2010 to December 2012 were considered for the present analysis. Educational levels of all patients were clustered into 3 groups; illiterates (unable to read or write), qualified (school or high school level education), and highly qualified (college and above). Results: In the present analysis 1066 (34.6%) patients were illiterates, 1,869 (60.6%) patients were literates and 145 (4.7%) of all patients with HNC were highly qualified. The stage at diagnosis were stage I, seen in 62 (34.6%), stage II in 393 (12.8%), stage III in 1,371 (44.5%) and stage IV in 1,254 (40.7%). The median time (MT) to the SOT from date of attending cancer hospital (DOACH) was, in illiterate group MT was 18 days, whereas in the qualified group of patients it was 15 days and in the highly qualified group was 10 days. Analysis of variance showed there was a significant difference on the mean time for the delay in SOT from DOACH for different educational levels (F=9.923, p=0.000). Conclusions: Educational level is a patient related factor in the delays for the SOT in HNCs in our population.

<P>Truncated <I>N</I>6-substituted-4′-oxo-and 4′-thioadenosine derivatives with C2 or C8 substitutionwere studied as dual acting A2A and A3 adenosinereceptor (AR) ligands. The lithiation-mediated stannyl transfer andpalladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions were utilized for functionalizationof the C2 position of 6-chloropurine nucleosides. An unsubstituted6-amino group and a hydrophobic C2 substituent were required for highaffinity at the hA2AAR, but hydrophobic C8 substitutionabolished binding at the hA2AAR. However, most of synthesizedcompounds displayed medium to high binding affinity at the hA3AR, regardless of C2 or C8 substitution, and low efficacyin a functional cAMP assay. Several compounds tended to be full hA2AAR agonists. C2 substitution probed geometrically throughhA2AAR docking was important for binding in order of hexynyl> hexenyl > hexanyl. Compound <B>4g</B> was the most potentligand acting dually as hA2AAR agonist and hA3AR antagonist, which might be useful for treatment of asthma or otherinflammatory diseases.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jmcmar/2012/jmcmar.2012.55.issue-1/jm201229j/production/images/medium/jm-2011-01229j_0013.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jm201229j'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

<P>On the basis of the potent biological activity of cyclopentenyl-pyrimidines, fluorocyclopentenyl-pyrimidines were designed and synthesized from <SMALL>d</SMALL>-ribose. Among these, the cytosine derivative <B>5a</B> showed highly potent antigrowth effects in a broad range of tumor cell lines and very potent antitumor activity in a nude mouse tumor xenograft model implanted with A549 human lung cancer cells. However, its 2′-deoxycytidine derivative <B>5b</B> did not show any antigrowth effects, indicating that 2′-hydroxyl group is essential for the biological activity.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jmcmar/2012/jmcmar.2012.55.issue-9/jm3004009/production/images/medium/jm-2012-004009_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jm3004009'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
