Description of the whole mitochondrial genome of Bhatia longiradiata (Hemiptera, Cicadellidae, Deltocephalinae: Drabescini) and phylogenetic relationship

        Lu Jikai,Wang Jiajia,Li Defang,Wang Xianyi,Dai Renhuai 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.1

Background Mitochondrial genomes are extremely conserved in genetic processes and valuable molecular indications for phylogenetic and evolutionary examination, but the mitochondrial genome of Bhatia has not yet been reported. Objective The target of this writing was to clarify the structural module of the mitochondrial genes of Bhatia longiradiata, verify the monophyletic of Drabescini, and explore the phylogenetic relationship between Drabescini with other leafhoppers. Methods We performed sequencing and explanatory note of the mitochondrion of Bhatia longiradiata. The phylogeny relation was created by ML and Bayesian approaches using three dissimilar datasets (PCG12, PCG12rRNA, and AA), which were constructed to discuss the phylogenetic status of Bhatia longiradiata. Results To report the architectural feature of the chondriosome of Bhatia longiradiata is a seal double-stranded annular molecule with 16,122 bp measurement and cover typically 37 genes. Several tandem repetitive units were observed in an AT enrichment area. The analysis showed that the branching relationships among the six trees were generally consistent, and each of the subfamilies was individually clustered into a monophyletic group within Cicadellidae. Bhatia longiradiata and other members of the Drabescini were aggregated into a clade that was situated within the Deltocephalinae. Conclusion The mitochondrial genome of Bhatia longiradiata covers 37 typical genes and a control region, which covers six tandem repeats. All species of Drabescini procedure a clade within Deltocephalinae. Drabescini and Scaphoideini form a branch and show a sister relationship with strong support. Therefore, we support the relegation of Selenocephalinae to a clan within Deltocephalinae.

Research on the rheological properties of a silicone oil-based ferrofluid

        Zhang Jiajia,Cui Hongchao,Han Shida,Li Zhenkun,Lu Jingjing 한국유변학회 2023 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.35 No.3

To study the overall rheological characteristics of the silicone oil-based ferrofluid, a chemical co-precipitation method was adopted for preparation, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) were used for characterization. The average size of Fe3O4 magnetic particles was 10.4 nm and the saturation magnetization of the ferrofluid was 5.98 emu/g. Then, the fluidity, magnetoviscous effect and viscoelasticity of the ferrofluid were studied using a rotational rheometer. The results showed obvious shear thinning of the silicone oil-based ferrofluid under an external magnetic field, and the yield stress of the ferrofluid could not be accurately obtained by fitting the flow curve with an H–B model at a continuous shear rate. A strong magnetoviscous effect could be observed at different shear rates and temperatures. The magnetoviscous parameter R increased with the increase of temperature and its variation decreased with the increase of shear rate. Moreover, based on the magnetic particle chain model and the viscosity–temperature characteristics of the base carrier liquid, different mechanisms of temperature influence on the magnetoviscous effect were analyzed. Finally, a discussion of the microstructure evolution mechanism of the ferrofluid in the modulus changing with frequency was presented through the viscoelastic analysis of the silicone oil-based ferrofluid.

The mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPRmt) protects against osteoarthritis

        Zhou Zhibin,Lu Jiajia,Yang Mei,Cai Jiao,Fu Qiang,Ma Jun,Zhu Lei 생화학분자생물학회 2022 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.54 No.-

The mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPRmt) is a mitochondrial-to-nuclear signaling pathway that is activated to maintain mitochondrial function when there is an accumulation of misfolded proteins within mitochondria. Mitochondrial function is essential for chondrocyte homeostasis, and mitochondrial dysfunction is a characteristic of osteoarthritis (OA). However, the role of the UPRmt in OA remains unclear. In the present study, the level of the UPRmt was examined in primary mouse chondrocytes subjected to different stresses and in the articular cartilage of OA model mice and OA patients. The relationship between UPRmt activation and OA progression was studied. The UPRmt was induced in primary mouse chondrocytes subjected to diverse stresses and in the cartilage of OA mice. Enhancement of the UPRmt with nicotinamide riboside (NR) significantly improved mitochondrial function, reduced chondrocyte death, attenuated OA pain, and ameliorated OA progression, and the protective effects decreased significantly in chondrocyte-specific Atf5 knockout (ATF5f/fCol2a1-CreERT2) mice. UPRmt induction was also identified in the articular cartilage of OA patients and was associated with reduced chondrocyte death, less severe hip pain, and lower levels of inflammation in synovial fluid. These findings identify the induction of the UPRmt in primary mouse chondrocytes exposed to pathological stresses and in the articular cartilage of OA model mice and OA patients. Enhancement of the UPRmt ameliorates OA progression, suggesting that the UPRmt exerts a protective effect against OA and may be a potential diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for OA.

Effect of La2O3 on the microstructure and electrical properties of ZnO linear resistors

Yajun Fu,Jiajia Lu,Jin Wang,Liangfeng Li 한양대학교 청정에너지연구소 2023 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.24 No.4

ZnO-MgO-Al2O3-TiO2-Y2O3 linear resistors with different amount of La2O3 were successfully prepared by the conventionalsolid-state sintering method. The crystalline phase composition, microstructure, and electrical properties of La2O3 doped ZnOlinear resistors were investigated. The results show that La2O3 influences the lattice of ZnO and generates La-rich phase atthe grain boundaries, which improves the dense density of ZnO linear resistors. The addition of La2O3 further affect theelectrical properties of ZnO linear resistors, such as the temperature stability. The sample with 0.5 wt.% La2O3 show excellentelectrical performance with an resistance-temperature coefficient of 0.21×10-3/°C and an nonlinear coefficient of 1.05.

Research on Synthesis and Rheological Properties of Silicone Oil-based Ferrofluid with Dual Surfactants

        Hongchao Cui,Jiahao Xu,Jiajia Zhang,Jingjing Lu,Zhenkun li 한국자기학회 2023 Journal of Magnetics Vol.28 No.1

Ferrofluids as a new kind of nano-functional material, possessing both magnetism of solid material and fluidity of liquid material, thus, they have extensive scientific research and engineering application value. To avoid the defects of conventional non- or single silane coupling agent in silicone oil-based ferrofluid preparation, TEOS and KH-792 were introduced as surfactants to modify Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). Silicone oil modified by carboxylic acid was used as based liquid because of improved compatibility with surfactants. Silicone oil-based ferrofluid was prepared by high-energy ball milling method, and its rheological properties were studied. The saturated magnetization of the silicon oil based ferrofluid was 142.71 Gs. When external magnetic field was applied, the MNPs formed a chain structure in the microscope. The viscosity of ferrofluid increased with magnetic field and the shear stress rose with shear rate. The viscosity decreased steeply with increasing temperature and shear rate. The viscosity of silicone oil-based ferrofluid was 950 mPa·s at 25 °C and can vary from 2044 mPa·s at 5 °C to 465 mPa·s at 40 °C. The ferrofluid transformed from a Newtonian fluid at zero magnetic field to a shear-thinning pseudoplastic Bingham fluid when an external magnetic field was applied. The viscosity varied from 1.37 to 2.38 × 105 mPa·s at zero shear rate. While, when magnetic field varied from 0 kA/ rose to 160 kA/m, the viscosity increased obviously and this phenomenon became more pronounced as the shear rate decreased. When magnetic field intensity was higher than 64 kA/m, the viscosity increased slowly with increasing shear rates and viscosity curve was close to a straight line at 100 s-1. This study expands the idea of exploring the synthesis of ferrofluids with mixed surfactants. Silicone oil-based ferrofluid is expected to have unique application prospects in the aerospace field, especially in space damping, sealing and biomedicine.

Osmanthus fragrans Flower Extract and Acteoside Protect Against d-Galactose-Induced Aging in an ICR Mouse Model

        Lina Xiong,Shuqin Mao,Baiyi Lu,Jiajia Yang,Fei Zhou,Yinzhou Hu,Yirong Jiang,Canxi Shen,Yajing Zhao 한국식품영양과학회 2016 Journal of medicinal food Vol.19 No.1

Osmanthus fragrans flower extract (OFE) is an organic extract from O. fragrans flower, which exhibits neuroprotective, free radical scavenging, and antioxidant effects. Therefore, the protective effect of OFE and acteoside against aging was studied. An aging ICR mouse model was established by chronically administering d-galactose (250 mg/kg) for 8 weeks. d-galactose induced spatial learning and memory impairments that were successfully inhibited by OFE and acteoside, which could shorten escape latency, improve platform crossing times, and increase zone time. The antioxidant potential of OFE and acteoside in vivo was evaluated by estimating the following: activities of antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione peroxidase and aging-related enzyme, particularly monoamine oxidase; contents of lipid peroxidation methane dicarboxylic aldehyde, advanced glycation end products, and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (a DNA damage product); and levels of nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2. OFE and acteoside also inhibited d-galactose-induced neurological aging by suppressing the increase in glial fibrillary acidic protein and neurotrophin-3. Considering the dose-dependent protective effects of OFE and acteoside, we concluded that OFE, rich in acteoside, was a good source of natural antiaging compounds.

        Kuikui Jiang,Ruoxi Hong,Wen Xia,Qianyi Lu,Liang Li,Jianhao Huang,Yanxia Shi,Zhongyu Yuan,Qiufan Zheng,Xin An,Cong Xue,Jiajia Huang,Xiwen Bi,Meiting Chen,Jingmin Zhang,Fei Xu,Shusen Wang 대한암학회 2024 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.56 No.2

Purpose This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a new combination treatment of vinorelbine and pyrotinib in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)–positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and provide higher level evidence for clinical practice. Materials and Methods This was a prospective, single-arm, phase 2 trial conducted at three institutions in China. Patients with HER2-positive MBC, who had previously been treated with trastuzumab plus a taxane or trastuzumab plus pertuzumab combined with a chemotherapeutic agent, were enrolled between March 2020 and December 2021. All patients received pyrotinib 400 mg orally once daily plus vinorelbine 25 mg/m2 intravenously or 60-80 mg/m2 orally on day 1 and day 8 of 21-day cycle. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), and the secondary endpoints included the objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), overall survival, and safety. Results A total of 39 patients were enrolled. All patients had been pretreated with trastuzumab and 23.1% (n=9) of them had accepted trastuzumab plus pertuzumab. The median follow-up time was 16.3 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 5.3 to 27.2), and the median PFS was 6.4 months (95% CI, 4.0 to 8.8). The ORR was 43.6% (95% CI, 27.8% to 60.4%) and the DCR was 84.6% (95% CI, 69.5% to 94.1%). The median PFS of patients with versus without prior pertuzumab treatment was 4.6 and 8.3 months (p=0.017). The most common grade 3/4 adverse events were diarrhea (28.2%), neutrophil count decreased (15.4%), white blood cell count decreased (7.7%), vomiting (5.1%), and anemia (2.6%). Conclusion Pyrotinib plus vinorelbine showed promising efficacy and tolerable toxicity as second-line treatment in patients with HER2-positive MBC.

Use of P-1 model with the additional source term for numerical simulation of ultraviolet radiation in a photoreactor

        Baoqing Deng,김창녕,Daqiang Ge,Li Lu,Di Ge,Jiajia Li,Yuan Guo 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.6

Radiation distribution in a photoreactor with multiple mediums is solved by the P-1 model. The UV lampis included in the computational domain. An additional source term method is presented to describe the generation ofUV light, which can avoid the use of analytical lamp emission model at the lamp surface. The boundary condition forincident radiation at the semi-transparent wall between adjacent mediums has been derived to link the P-1 equationsin adjacent mediums, which enables the present model to adapt to the photoreactor with complicated structure. Thepredicted incident radiation agrees well with the experimental data in literature. The effects of absorption coefficient, scattering coefficient and phase function of lamp plasma on the radiation distribution are discussed in detail.

Clinical Features and Differences of Miller Fisher Syndrome in Southern China: Retrospective Analysis of 72 Patients in 13 Provinces of Southern China

        Hang Yu,Man Ding,Qian Cao,Rumeng Zhou,Jiajia Yao,Rong Fu,Yue Liu,Zheman Xiao,Zuneng Lu 대한신경과학회 2023 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.19 No.6

Background and Purpose We aimed to determine the clinical features of Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) in southern China and compare them with those presenting in other countries. Methods We collected the medical records of patients diagnosed with MFS during 2013–2016. We analyzed the age, sex, onset season, precursor events, clinical symptoms and signs, findings of nerve conduction studies (NCS), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), therapeutic remedies, nadir time, and length of hospital stay of patients with MFS in southern China. We concurrently compared the differences between urban and rural areas and between patients with incomplete ophthalmoplegia (IO) and complete ophthalmoplegia (CO). Results The study enrolled 72 patients: 36 from rural areas and 36 from urban areas, and 50 males and 22 females. The mean age at onset was 47.72 years, and 30 (41.7%) and 21 (29.2%) patients developed MFS in spring and winter, respectively. The typical triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and areflexia was observed in 50 (69.4%) patients. A history of upper respiratory tract infection 1 week before onset was found in 52.8% of the patients, while 5.6% experienced gastrointestinal infections and 48 (73.8%) exhibited albuminocytological dissociation in the CSF study. Only 26 (36.1%) patients presented abnormalities in NCS. Moreover, restricted outward eyeball movement presented in 83.5% of the patients with classic MFS and acute ophthalmoplegia, and bilateral symmetrical ophthalmoplegia presented in 64.2%. With the exception of the higher proportion of NCS abnormalities in urban areas (47.2% vs. 25.0%), urban and rural differences were insignificant regarding sex ratio, age at onset, high-incidence season, precursor events, disease characteristics, and albuminocytological dissociation in the CSF. Furthermore, patients with CO were older than those with IO (64.53±7.69 vs. 43.19±14.40 years [mean±standard deviation], p<0.001). Conclusions The patients with MFS were mostly male and middle-aged, and most presented in winter and (especially) spring. More than half of the patients had clear precursor events, most of which were classic MFS with the typical triad. More than 70% of the patients presented albuminocytological dissociation in the CSF. NCS abnormalities were uncommon in MFS. The age at onset was lower in patients with IO than in patients with CO; bilateral symmetrical extraocular muscle paralysis was the most common symptom, and the external rectus was the most frequently involved muscle.
