        Objective: This study was designed to evaluate diagnosis and complication, prognosis during clinical study of cases of intrauterine fetal death. Methods and materials: This is a clinical study of 56 cases of the intrauterine fetal death among 8064 deliveries at Seoul Sunchunhyang university hospital during 5 years from January, 1994 to December, 1998. Results: The incidence was 0.7%. The age distribution of mothers was 18 - 44 years and was highest in the 25 - 29 years range(46.4%). The parity was the most highest in the nulliparous group(51.8%). The most common gestational weeks was 20 - 28 weeks gestational period(46.4%), and most common presentation was cephalic(73.5%). The most common weights of the intrauterine fetal death was from 5,00gm to 1,000g(48.2%). The mode of the most common delivery was the induction of delivery(57.2%). The etiologic factors were: unknown(42.9%), preeclampsia(17.9%), chorioamnionitis(14.3%), congenital anomaly(12.5%), abruptio placenta(7.1%), cord complication(3.6%), placenta previa, death of one for twin. There were 2 cases of maternal complication(DIC, Uterine atony). Conclusion : Intrauterine fetal death should be diagnosised early and treated properly to reduce risk of the maternal complication.

      • 조산의 예측 지표로서의 fetal fibronectin의 유용성

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinical efficacy of fetal fibronectin as a marker to predictor of preterm labor. Materials & Methods: The study group consisted of sixty-eight healthy pregnant women, at gestational age between 24 and 36 weeks, who visited our department with vaginal discharge from April, 1995 to December, 1997. For comparison, we divided all of the pregnant women into two groups by the result of ROM-Check^®, positive groups(N=21) and negative groups(N=47). When preterm labor appeared, 50mg of ritodrine hydrochloride(Yutopar^®) mixed I liter of 5% dextrose solution was administered slowly intravenously. Results: 1) The gestational age at delivery and the interval time from admission to delivery in the positive groups were significantly shorter than those of the negative groups(p<0.05). 2) The positive groups had significantly lower birth weight and Apgar scores than the negative groups(p<0.05). 3) Among the negative groups, in case of tocolytics administration, the interval time from admission to delivery significantly delayed more than that time in case of no tocolytics administration(p<0.05). Conclusions: The detection of the fetal fibronectin in vaginal discharge had a useful method as a predictor of preterm labor. Tocolytics was more effective in the negative groups than in the positive groups.

        Prolapse of the fallopian tube into the vaginal vault after hysterectomy is a rare complication. Since most of cases may resolve before detection or remain undiagnosed, the exact incidence is still unknown. Though most common sign of tubal prolapse is tender friable tissue in vaginal cuff, with the simptoms of lower abdominal pain, dysparenunia, vaginal discharge, or postcoital spotting. The definitive diagnosis should be confirmed histologically Recently, we experienced a case of fallopian tube prolapse after abdominal hysterectomy in a 41-year-old woman and report with a brief review of the literature.

      • TNT-분해세균인 Stenotrophomonas maltophilia에 의한 s-Triazine계 제초제인 Atrazine의 미생물학적 분해

        The agricultural use and relative persistence of s-triazine herbicide such as atrazine have led to increasing concern about environmental contamination. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia capable of utilizing TNT as sole nitrogen source has been isolated from contaminated soils and the bacterium showed excellent degradability for several-triazine herbicides including atrazine. Complete depletion of atrazine was achieved within 30 hours of incubation. Atrazine was catabolized in the presence of different supplemented carbons. Among the co-substrates used in this experiment (e.g., glucose, fructose, starch, succinate, acetate), fructose was the best co-substrate. However, no atrazine degradation was monitored without the supplemented co-substrates in the cultures. The relationships between atrazine degradation by S. maltophilia and several relevant physicochemical parameters (e.g., N-sources, yeast extract) were examined. High performance liquid chromatographic methodology was used to measure this substrate and it also resolved unknown intermediates.

      • 오염된 토양으로부터 분리된 세균에 이한 2,4-Dinitrotoluene과 2,6-Dinitrotoluene의 생물학적 제거

        Dinitrotoluenes (e.g., 2.,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene) are the major impurity resulting from the manufacture of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene(TNT) and are primary starting materials for the synthesis of toluenediisocyanate which are used in the production of polyurethane foam. Both 2,4-DNT(2,4-dinitro- toluene) and 2,6-DNT(2,6-dinitrotoluene) are recalcitrant and have been shown to be toxic to aquatic and terrestrial organisms in the environment. Because little information is available for the biological degradation of DNTs, they have has not been evaluated for the possible treatment processes of industrial waste streams where DNTs may represent a serious disposal problem. In the present work, we explored the feasibility using a bacterium for DNTs degradation, with the ultimate aim of application for the industrial treatment. A DNTs-degrading bacterium was isolated from soil samples collected from an explosive contaminated area. Complete degradation of 2,4-DNT at the initial concentration of 50 ㎎ 2,4-DNT per liter was achieved within 10 days of incubation in bench-scale bioreactors, whereas 2,6-DNT degraded completely within 14 days under the same conditions, respectively. The bacterium was able to utilize DNTs as the sole nitrogen source. Co-substrate was essential for the bacterial growth and DNTs degradation in the medium. Neither bacterial growth nor DNTs degradation were observed in the absence of co-substrate. The detection of the parent substrates and their intermediates were based on HPLC and GC-MS methodology.

        Electronic water pump(EWP) of vehicle automatically can run engine cooling function regardless of engine speed, so that it reduces remarkably fuel consumption. A numerical analysis was carried out in order to optimize the impeller and volute design for EWP and to investigate the sensitivity of the related parameters using CFD commercial code FLUENT V14.5. The feasible range of related parameters for EWP was obtained. The obtained result will be applied to develop EWP as important design data

        The leiomyomas of the vulva are rare benign tumors the incidence is 0.024%~0.55% in women. There are no relationship between leiomyomas of the vulva and uterus. But there are some reports that leiomyomas of the vulva and uterus simultaneously. The leiomyomas of the vulva present without symptoms and excision with biopsy is treatment of choice. Tumors of the gynecological apparatus may present without symptoms, or they may mimic other common gynecological conditions. Because of this, any vulva mass must be considered cautiously. We reported this case with a brief review of the concerned literatures.

      • 고립성 폐결절의 조직학적 진단에 있어서 경기관지폐생검의 진단적 가치

        Transbronchial lung biopsy(TBLB) is a relatively simple and convenient diagnostic tool in solitary pulmonary nodule(SPN) on chest radiograph, which is cannot be diagnosed through routine tests. To investigate the diagnostic value and diagnostic rate of TBLB according to the variable factor, we analyzed 69 patients with radiologically SPN lesion on chest radiograph which was confirmed histologically. A histologic diagnosis of TBLB was made in 47 of 69 patients(68.1%), in which 26 of 37(70.3%) with malignancy and 21 of 32(65.6%) with benign lesion. There were no significant differences in diagnostic yield according to age, sex and location of the lesion. The diagnostic rate tended to increase with the more than 5 pieces to acquired by TBLB. When the size of SPN was less than 3 ㎝, it cannot be diagnosed. In conclusion, TBLB is a diagnostic procedure with good yield and safety, but percutaneous needle aspiration, transbronchial needle aspiration, and bronchial washing fluid cytology may be a complementary procedure to overcome the limitation of TBLB and get higher diagnostic yield for SPN.

        Behavior recognition system based fog cloud computing

        The current behavior recognition system don't match data formats between sensor data measured by user's sensor module or device. Therefore, it is necessary to support data processing, sharing and collaboration services between users and behavior recognition system in order to process sensor data of a large capacity, which is another formats. It is also necessary for real time interaction with users and behavior recognition system. To solve this problem, we propose fog cloud based behavior recognition system for human body sensor data processing. Fog cloud based behavior recognition system solve data standard formats in DbaaS (Database as a System) cloud by servicing fog cloud to solve heterogeneity of sensor data measured in user's sensor module or device. In addition, by placing fog cloud between users and cloud, proximity between users and servers is increased, allowing for real time interaction. Based on this, we propose behavior recognition system for user's behavior recognition and service to observers in collaborative environment. Based on the proposed system, it solves the problem of servers overload due to large sensor data and the inability of real time interaction due to non-proximity between users and servers. This shows the process of delivering behavior recognition services that are consistent and capable of real time interaction.

        Among the various current controlled PWM methods required for brushless dc motor driving, the hysteresis-band current control PWM method is popularly used because of its simplicity of implementation, fast response characteristics and inherent peak current limiting capability. Hovever, the current controlled PWM method with a fixed hysteresis-band has the disadvantage that switching frequency decreases and current ripple is high as the increasing of counter emf. As a result, load current contains excess harmonics.<br/> This paper describes an adaptive hysteresis bandvidth control algorithm so as to maintain the average switching frequency constantly and decrease the current ripple where the hysteresis bandwidth is derived as a relation with switching frequency. This control algorithm is applied to the surface type brushless dc motor with separated winding. And using the computer simulation, the validity of its algorithm is proved.
