      • 항암화학요법을 받는 암 환자에 대한 Nucare^R의 영양지지효과

        Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of nutritional support with enteral liquid supplement in cancer patients receving chemotherapy for possible benefit in nutritional, immunologic and golbal function of patients. Patients and Methods : From October 1995 to February 1997, 30 advanced cancer patients receving chemotherapy were divided two roups. The Nycare group, in addition to normal diet, Nucare^R enteral supplement was given for 1week right after chemotherapy for the duration of 2 chemotherapy cycles. Control group received only normal diet without parenteral fluid supplement for 2 chemotherapy cycles. Results : Median ages were 53 end 56 years for Nucare group and Contrl group respectively. Performance scores was less than 2 by ECOG scale. All patients were stage Ⅲ or Ⅳ. The physical parameters, such as weight, arm muscle circumference(AMC) and triceps skin fold(TSF) were decreased in both groups after 2 cycles of anticancer therapy. but it was less severe in Nucare group(p<0.05). Serum transferrin was maintained in mild deficit state in Nucare group, whereas it aggravated form mild to moderate deficit in Control group(p<0.05). Serum albumin level increased in Nucare group without statistical significance. but it decreased from normal to mild deficit in Control group. Serum total protein did not change significantly in Nucare group. but in Control group, serum total protein was decreased from 7.24±0.9 to 6.52±0.5(P<0.05). Total lymphocyte count did not change significantly in both groups. Conclusion : This study shows that the nutritional support with Nucare^R was effective in the prevention of nutritional deficit status in patients receving a nticancer chemotherapy.

      • 한식 잔반처리를 위한 호기성 미생물의 분리 및 그 분해효과

        For the treatment of Korea food-wastes, three mesophilic and one thermophilic bacteria were isolated from soil and fermented fertilizers. The thermophilic Streptomyces sp. strain WF021 produced two enzymes which were a protease and a lipase at 55℃. The mesophilic Bacillus sp. strain WF024 produced four enzymes which were a protease, a lipase, a amylase and a cellulase when the strain was grown both at 30℃ and 55℃. The Bacillus sp. PY123 had produced three enzymes which were a protease, a cellulase and a lipase at 30℃. The Bacillus sp. strain CM1 produced three enzymes which were a protease, a amylase, and a cellulase at 30℃. The bacteria were grown in media containing 6% NaCl at least and did not have antagonism each other. The four isolates treated much more food-wastes than referance strains did. In a flask without aeration, three reference strains treated 15.4% of food-wastes, while four isolated treated 23.7% of food-wastes. In a flask with aeration, food-wastes were treated 67.3% by four isolates, and 64.3% by three reference strains, but 53.9% without bacteria. However, food-wastes were treated about 78% in a 200ℓ-reactor made by Siwon Co., while 65.8% in a 20ℓ-reactor made by Sanyo Co.

      • 수용성 황색색소를 분비하는 Bacillus sp. PY123균주의 분리 및 특성

        To develop a yellow pigment for a food-additive, a strain producing a water-soluble yellow pigment was isolated from phylloplane of tree leaf. The strain PY123 was identified a Bacillus sp. based on morphological and biochemical characterization such as a bacillus form, mortility, spore formation, Gram positive, and catalase production. The pigment production of the strain PY123 was increased about 3 times in potato broth containing 1% sucrose and 0.1 mM CoCl₂than in only potato broth after incubation at 30℃ for 2 days. When 0.1 mM CoCl₂was added in potato broth containing 1% sucrose at late log phase during incubation of the strain PY123, cell growth was not inhibited, and the period at maximal pigment production of the strain PY123 was about 12 hrs faster than in potato broth containing 1% sucrose and 0.1 mM CoCl₂simultaniously.

        습식 TCE 분해반응에서 CoO_(x)/TiO₂ 촉매의 반응활성 및 표면화학적 구조

        Catalytic wet oxidation of trichloroethylene (TCE) in water has been conducted using TiO₂-supported cobalt oxides at 36℃ with a weight hourly space velocity of 7,500 h^(-1). 5% CoO_(X)/TiO₂, prepared by using an incipient wetness technique, might be the most promising catalyst for the wet oxidation although it exhibited a transient behavior in time on-stream activity. Not only could the bare support be inactive for the wet decomposition reaction, but no TCE removal also occurred by the process of adsorption on TiO₂ surface. The catalytic activity was independent of all particle sizes used, thereby representing no mass transfer limitation in intraparticle diffusion. XPS spectra of both fresh and used Co surfaces gave different surface spectral features for each CoO_(X+). Co 2p_(3/2) binding energy for Co species in the fresh catalyst appeared at 781.3 eV, which is very similar to the chemical states of CoTiO_(X) such as CO₂TiO₄ and CoTiO₃. The used catalyst exhibited a 780.3-eV main peak with a satellite structure at 795.8 eV. Based on XPS spectra of reference Co compound, the TCE-exposed Co surfaces could be assigned to be in the form of mainly CO₃O₄. XRD patterns for 5% CoOx/TiO₂ catalyst indicated that the phase structure of Co species in the catalyst even before reaction is quite comparable to the diffraction lines of external Co3O4 standard. A model structure of CoO_(X) present predominantly on titania surfaces would be CoO₃O₄, encapsulated in thin-film CoTiO_(X) species consisting of CO₂TiO₄ and CoTiO₃, which may be active for the decomposition of TCE in a flow of water.

      • 모기 살충성 세균 B. thuringiensis subsp. israelensis의 효과적인 분리 방법

        For more convenient and rapidly isolation of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis(Bti), 1) heat treatment for spore forming bacteria, 2) growth in enrichment culture media for Bacillus sp. and 3) selection of bacteria producing a lecithinase for Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis, were performed. Spore forming bacteria were counted 4.8×10^8cells/g soil on NAPGCY media, 9.2×10^7cells/g soil on NA media, and 3.6×10^8cells/g soil on NAAC media, respectively.; Bacteria producing only a lecithinase were reached at 25.2% on medium contained egg york, bacteria only producing a delta-endotoxin were reached at 23.2% by phase contrast microscope, and bacteria producing a lecithinase & a delta-endotoxin simulten-iously were reached at 13.7%. Bacillus thuringiensis which producing a lecithinase and a delta-endotoxin simultaniously among bacteria producing a lecithinase, were reached at 56.5%; A half of Bacillus thuringiensis was produced a delta-endotoxin, but not produced a lecithinase. Among 8 isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis, two strain of Bti which has a mosquito-cidal toxin, were detected by PCR using a specific primer of δ-endotoxin gene form Bti.

        The delta-endotoxin from B. thuringiensis subsp. darmstadiensis 73E10-2 was resistant to high concentration of salt (4M NaBr), organic solvents (50% acetone), denaturants (4M urea), and neutral detergents (10% triton X-100). In contrast, the toxin was inactivated by treating with charged detergents as well as guanidine hydrochloride or carbon tetra-chloride. The delta-endotoxin is not a sulfhydryl activated toxin, but modification of the lysine side chains eliminated toxicity against mosquito larvae.

        For using additives of foods, or cosmetics, a strain A80 producing blue pigment was isolated from soil. The strain A80 was identified as a Azolobacter vinelandii based on morphological and physiological characteristics. The strain A80 was extracellulaly secreted the blue pigment on PYG agar plate, but not secreted it into PYG broth. And then, the strain A80 was extracellulaly secreted the blue pigment in PYG broth containing 2.0% chitin, while the strain A80 was not secreted the blue pigment in PYG broth containing 2.0% chitin and 1% NaCl simultaniously.

      • 모기 살충성 내독소를 생산하는 Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. guiyangiensis 21-2균주(H serotype 43)의 특성

        To prevent appearance of resistant mosquitoes against δ-endotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis (Bu) in field, a mosquitocidal Bacillus thuringiensis strain 21-2(Bt 21-2) producing a new type of δ-endotoxin was isolated. The strain Bt 21-2 belongs to H serotype43. B. thuringiensis subsp. guiyangiensis(Btg). The δ-endotoxins from the strain Bt 21-2 and the strain Bti were a cuboid shape morphologically, but the δ-endotoxin from the type strain Btg was a bipyramidal shape on phase contrast microscope. The δ-endotoxin of the strain Bt 21-2 was composed of 150.90 and 70 KDa proteins on SDS-PAGE, and the antigenicity of δ-endotoxin of the strain Bt 21-2 was different from that of the strain Bti on immunoblot. The δ-endotoxin gene of the strain Bt 21-2 was not amplified with specific primers of δ-endotoxin gene (cry4A and cry4B) of the strain Bti on PCR.

        유리 신혈류화 골판(遊離新血流化骨瓣)을 有用한 家兎 不顎骨의 再建

        To overcome the limitations of conventional microsurgical tissue transfer, experimental creation of various neo-flaps using the vessel implantation technique has been reported. We have performed some experiments of fabrication of neo-osseous flap with local vessels and iliac bone slabs to know that the flap vascularity and neo-angiogenesis are achieved enough to microtransfer. As a next step of our previous experiments, the flap viability and the histologic change between the recipient bone and neo-oseous flap was assessed after microsurgical transplantation. The flap was created on the rabbit femoral region(n=25) using femoral vessel and the iliac bone segments(2.5×1.5cm in size). Three weeks after neovascularization, the newly formed flap was harvested and microtransferred to the mandibular defect. As a control, contralateral mandibular defect was created and reconstructed with conventional free iliac bone graft. Scintigrams of experimental group performed 3 days after microtransfer showed hot uptake, while that of control poor uptake. Histologic and vital stain labeling study revealed good bone viability and vascularity of neo-osseous flap. In conclusion, prefabricated neo-osseous flap of our model could be transferred to the recipient site with retaining the flap viability and showed advantages over the conventional bone graft in that it was living bone graft.
