        The purpose of this research is to obtain the characteristics of heat transfer or heat exchange under the vacuum pressure. The general heat transfer or heat exchange can be changed with the experimental environment. In this report, the exothermic calorie and endothermic calorie were measured under the vacuum chamber. These two kinds of calories show the evaporative and condensing sides, respectively, and these calories were measured by using the parameter with flow rate.

        In this study, we discussed littroal movement and sedimentation of Keum-river estuary and estmated of deposition capacity. Keum-river estuary sea wall was constructed in 1988 Jan. and the sluice gate was completely closed in 1995 May. At the present, Kun-Jang new port. South and North jetty, Semankume sea wall and Kun-Jang industry estate are developing the Kume-river estuary around. At this developing and construction of Keum-river estaury, in many element of hydrauli - ocean waves, tide, tidal prism and depth of water - have changed. Tide analysis used statistics-analysis and harmonic-analysis from 1984 to 1997. Depth of water analysis used bathymetric chart from 1985 to 1997. Therefore we must correctly decise hydraulic element that is use simulation numerical test and hydraulic model. We analyze ocean waves, tide, tidal prism and depth of water change and modeling bed-load movement simulation; K-Cytengel, suspending-load deposition simulation; DIMOS-IV. Through the K-Cytengel and DIMOS-IV simulation estemated the sedimentation capacity and propose suitable answering such as dredging, water injection and remove of estuary sea wall.

        하지 분절 각도에 따른 수의 등척성 수축(MVIC)시 근전도 비교

The purpose of this study was to quantify the maximum EMG levels and determine if there are differences in these EMG levels with respect to different knee flexion angles. Eight university students with no known musculoskeletal disorders were recruited as the participants. The maximum voluntary isometric knee extensions and flexions were taken from each participant sat on the isokinetic exercise machine (Cybex 340) at five different knee flexion angles (10?30?50?70? 90?. After surface electrodes were attached to rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus laterlis, biceps femoris, and semitendinosus, maximum EMG levels at five different knee flexion angles were measured. The results showed that there was no significant difference in maximum EMG levels among five different knee flexion angles. Although there was no significant difference in EMG levels and were some variations among different knee flexion angles, the EMG signals of quadriceps in extension and biceps femoris in flexion were the greatest at 30? It seems that different joint angles or relative locations of body segments might affect the magnitude of EMG levels. Because the maximum EMG levels could change with a different knee flexion angle, an attempt should be made to more accurately measure these values. If then, %MVIC measure provides more reliable data and is most appropriate for EMG normalization.

        뮈텔 주교의 《서울 대목구 지도서》(Directorium Missionis de Seoul, 1923) 연구

        In 1923, Mutel, Bishop of Vicariate Apostolic of Seoul, published Directorium Missionis de Seoul to suggest specific ministerial action plans for his priests to follow. It is an important directory for us to understand the way Bishop Mutel did his ministry in Vicariate Apostolic of Seoul and to draw a concrete picture of his various ministerial activities as bishop. It is also an important document to help understand the ministerial works of his priests and the spiritual life of the faithful there in 1920’s. Despite its importance, however, little effort has been made in studying it systematically. In order to provide some supplementary study on this directory, thus, I try to introduce the process of it being designed and published. The second step is to take a look at the emphasized points that Bishop Mutel made in promulgating it. It is followed by the study on the main points and specifics in order of contents. The study on the norms of the directory has its importance in two ways; first, it remains as a directory not only in Vicariate Apostolic of Seoul, but also it has become main norms in the entire Church in Korea since 1924. Secondly, a significant amount of its contents was included and developed in Directorium commune Missionis Coreae(Common Directory of Korean Catholic Church), which was published in 1932 and regarded as Korean Catholic ministerial directory that has had a consistent impact on the faithful since then. It is, thus, my understanding that Directorium Missionis de Seoul deserves a significant consideration and study in that it helps us understand the priestly ministry and spiritual life of the faithful in Vicariate Apostolic of Seoul in late 1920’s as well as in the entire Korean Catholic Church in twentieth century.

      • A Comparative Study of Protein Profiles in Porcine Fetus Fibroblast Cells with Different Confluence States

        To examine the differential expression of proteins during the cycling (70~80% confluences) and G0/G1 (full confluences) phases in porcine fetal fibroblast cells, we used a global proteomics approach by 2-D gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and MALDI-TOF-MS. Cycling cell were harvested at approximately 70% to 80% confluent state while cells in G0/G1 phase were recovered after maintenance of a confluent state for 48 hr. Cellular proteins with isoelectric points ranging between 3.0~10.0, were analyzed by 2-DE with 2 replicates of each sample. A total of approximately 700 spots were detected by 2.D gels stained with Coomassie brilliant blue. On comparing the cell samples obtained from the cycling and G0/G1 phases, a total of 13 spots were identified as differentially expressed proteins, of which 8 spots were up-regulated in the cycling cell and 5 were up-regulated in the G0/G1 phase. Differentially expressed proteins included K3 keratin, similar to serine protease 23 precursor, protein disulfide-isomerase A3, microsomal protease ER-60, alpha-actinin-2, and heat-shock protein 90 beta. The identified proteins were grouped on the basis of their basic functions such as molecular binding, catabolic, cell growth, and transcription regulatory proteins. Our results show expression profiles of key proteins in porcine fetal fibroblast cells during different cell cycle status.

        Anticoagulation and Anticancer Constituents from Eugenia caryophyllata Thunb

        From the EtOAc fraction of Eugenia caryophyllata, four compounds were isolated through activity-guided silica gel column chromatography, From the result of spectroscopic data including NMR, MS and IR, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined as 1-allyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybezene acetate (eugenol acetate, 1), 1-allyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybezene (eugenol, 2), $3{\beta}-hydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic$ acid (oleanolic acid, 3) and $2{\alpha}$, $3{\beta}-dihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic$ acid (maslinic acid, 4). Compounds 3 and 4 were isolated for the first time from this plant. Also, compounds 1, 2 and 3 exhibited relatively high platelet aggregation inhibitory activity with the $IC_{50}$ values of 0.24, 0.09 and 0.07 mM, respectively. Compound 2 significantly prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) with the value of $124{\pm}11.2$ seconds as compared to the control with the value of $37.5{\pm}2.2$ seconds at the concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/ml$. Compounds 1 and 3 revealed inhibitory activity on farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) with the $IC_{50}$ values of 0.49 and 0.24 mM and compounds 1 and 2 highly inhibited the growth of rat-H-ras cells with the $Gl_{50}$ values of 6.63 and 5.70 ${\mu}M$, respectively.

        Reverse electrodialysis (RED) using a bipolar membrane to suppress inorganic fouling around the cathode

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>When operating reverse electrodialysis (RED) with several hundreds of cell pairs, a large stack voltage of more than 10 V facilitates water electrolysis, even when redox couples are employed for the electrode reaction. Upon feeding natural water containing multivalent ions, ion crossover through a shielding membrane causes inorganic scaling around the cathode and the interior of the membrane stack, due to the combination with the hydroxide ions produced via water reduction. In this work, we introduce a bipolar membrane (BPM) as a shielding membrane at the cathode to suppress inorganic precipitation. Water splitting in the bilayer structure of the BPM can block the ions diffusing from the catholyte and the feed solution, maintaining the current density. To evaluate the effect of the BPM on the inorganic precipitates, diluted sea salt solution is allowed to flow through the outermost feed channel near the cathode, in order to maintain as large a stack voltage as possible, which is important to induce water splitting in the BPM when incorporated into an RED stack of 100 cell pairs. We measure the electric power of the RED according to the arrangement of the BPM and compare it with that of conventional RED. The degree of inorganic scaling is also compared according to the kind of shielding membrane used (anion exchange membrane, cation exchange membrane, and BPM (Neosepta or Fumasep)). The BPM (Neosepta) shows the best performance for suppressing the formation of precipitates.
