        This paper deals with the definition of the word, which has various criteria and meanings. We will see that the word as linguistic unit until deserves some attention by means of syntactic, semantic, phonological, and morphological viewpoints. It can be elusive, undefinable, and exceptional. Also we will see that words can be composed of smaller units, called morphemes, which have much relation to their internal structure, that is, lexeme, prefix, suffix, etc. Also, the division between derivation and inflection is not always exactly fixed and has some exceptions.

        A computer program for determining the angles of incidence in a low energy electron diffraction (LEED) experiment is written which uses the angles between the diffraction spots on a photograph of LEED pattern measured by Stephen L. Cunningham and W. Henry Weinberg. The results determined by using our program are in good agreement with those of Stephen L. Cunningham and W. Henry Weinberg within the extent of 0.1" in the polar angle and 0.01" in the azimuthal angle.

        The level in the phonological theory has an important and varied status. For example, Chomsky and Halle's generative phonology has two designated levels, underlying and surface, with undesignated or intermediate levels. However, Optimality Theory has only two levels input and output without intermediate levels. This has been caused in abstract, underlying representation and resulted in opacity problem. Opacity and level has intermixed problem, which is unsolved until now. In this paper I argue that multi-stratal model or sympathy theory can be alternatives, which are focused on the intermediate level.

        하순 및 하악골 정중열의 치험례

        Median cleft of the lower lip and/or mandible is a rare congenital anomaly, first mentioned by Couronne in 1819. Monroe(1966), Fujino(1970), Ranta(1984) and Oostrom(1996) conducted comprehensive reviews and list cases in literature. Median cleft varies greatly, from a simple vermilion notch to a complete cleft of the lip involving the tongue, the chin, the mandible, the supporting structures of the median of the neck, and the manubrium sterni. The associated anomalies include ankyloglossia, cleft tongue, neck contraction, heart lesion, absence of hyoid bone, and so on. The etiology of median cleft is unknown. Various possibilities, such as failure of mesodermal penetration into the midline, failure of fusion of mandibular processes, external factors apart from the embryogenic pattern such as prensure, position in utero, circulatory failure caused placental adhesion, diseases in pregnancy, and so on, have been discussed. A 8-year-old girl was referred to the Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Kyungpook National University Hospital and had been aware of the fact that at birth "she had something wrong with her mouth." Shortly after birth she had been examined by a plastic surgeon and at that time surgical procedure had been performed to release the tongue from the lower jaw and lip at local hospital. On admission, she had a slight notching of lower lip and two fibrous frenum ran from the lip along the ventral surface of the tongue, diastema between her mandibular central incisors, and slightly constricted bifid mandible associated independent movement of the two halves of mandible. The patient had autogenous iliac bone graft to reconstruct the mandibular midline defect. The postoperative result was uneventful. In future, the correction of the soft tissue deformities such as notching of the lower lip and partial ankyloglossia will be required for the esthetic and functional improvement.

      • 유카 Ag-aide가 페어리링 병이 발생한 잔디토양의 투수계수 및 한지형 잔디 생육에 미치는 영향

        Yucca Ag-aide extracted from Yucca, Agavaceae, is one of the several surface active agents being marked as a soil conditioner for turfgrass. According to the previous research, Yucca can provide an energy source for soil microbes, improve physical properties, and nutrient efficiency in soil, and enhance water infiltration capacity of soil. Yucca was applied to the tee area with cool-season grass showing fairy ring symptom at the Asiana Country Club from June to July, 1999. Yucca was also applied to "Pencross" creeping bentgrass that was stressed by 15 and 30 times of glass stick once every two months(three time total) in 5cm diameter of PVC pipe in greenhouse and to experiment field, established with 35% Tall fescue+50% Kentucky bluegrass+15%Perennial ryegrass at the Kon-kuk University on June 8, 1999. Infiltration at the tee area showing fairy ring symptom was improved by treatment of 250 and 500 fold of Yucca Ag-aide. Yucca Ag-aide treatment also improved root length and dry weight of creeping bentgrass with the stress by glass stick. Coverage and turf quality of cool-season turfgrass in field trial were increased by Yucca Ag-aide. Clipping dry weight was also increased by the treatment.

      • 저에너지 전자회절에서 Ni(100)표면에 대한 I-V(E)특성곡선 계산

        자체 개발한 저에너지 전자회절(low energy electrondiffraction, LEED)에서의 위상 이동량(phase shift) 계산프로그램을 Van Hove와 Tong의 LEED I-V(E)특성곡선 계산프로그램에 보완하여, 깨끗한 Ni(100)표면에 대한 LEED I-V(E)특성곡선을 계산하고 이로부터 Ni(100)면에 대한 구조분석을 하였다. 또한 그 결과를 Andersson과 Kasemo, Demuth et al., 그리고 Laramore들의 실험 및 계산결과들과 비교하여 보았다. Low energy elactron diffraction(LEED) I-V(E) spectra for the clean Ni(100) surface are calculated and the surface structure is investigated by using Van Hove and Tong's LEED program with the phase shift program made by our Lab. The LEED beams (00), (10), and (01) are investigated in this work. The I-V(E) spectra of these beams are compared with Andersson and Kasemo, Demuth et al., and Laramore's experimental and calculated results.

        문신치료의 실험적 연구

        In general social opinions of developed cultural state, tattoos induced psychological and social problems. Since Hellenic times, the removal of unwanted tattoos has been a challenge: for example, salabrasion, dermabrasion, LASER surgery, skin graft and cryosugery, etc. But the availability of manay methods for the removal of tattoos appears to indicate that there is no one absolute method. So we studied macroscopical color changes and microscopical histological changes in tattooed rabbits and rats, and overtattooed rabbits and rats. The results were as following: 1. Inflammatory reactions was nearly almost disapperared within 3 weeks. 2. The major fade―out of tattooed color was occurred from post―tattooing 5 days to 3 weeks. 3. Dye particle was located mainly in upper & mid dermis and it was not relafted with tattooing depth. 4. Masking effect of black colored tattoos was definitely improved in the overtattooing group. But complete masking was impossible.

      • A Study of Ternary Foot-Initial Double Upbeat Stress in Cayuvava-

        In this paper I will argue that we need only binary foot to deal with ternary rhythm in the initial double upbeat in Cayuvava. Rule-based theory has assumed rewrite rules and some parameters, but OT tried to obliterate them entirely and argue for the constraint-based theory. Initial Double upbeat is more unusual or peculiar phenomenon in stress theory, which shows two unstressed syllable in intial position. Several problems are suggested in rule-based theory and various options of OT are compared to treat double upbeat in Cayuvava. First, Kager (1994) proposed *FTFT and PARSE-2 constraints, which are constrained by directional and distance-sensitive constraints. The former prohibits adjacent feet to reflect weak local parsing (Hayes 1995), and the latter is a mirror image case, which is opposite to FOOT-BINARITY constraint. However, it needs a non-initiality constraint to treat double upbeat in Cayuvava. Second, including lapse constraints, categorical constraints assume a licensing theory, which permits strong positions to have stress. Doing without directional ALL-FT-X, categorical constraints are non-gradient and distance-insensitive. Therefore it is more constrained.

        High Efficiency AMOLED using Hybrid of Small Molecule and Polymer Materials Patterned by Laser Transfer

        Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) is a laser addressed patterning process and has unique advantages such as high-resolution patterning with over all position accuracy of the imaged stripes of within 2.5 micrometer and scalability to large-size mother glass. This accuracy is accomplished by real-time error correction and a high-resolution stage control system that includes laser interferometers. Here the new concept of hybrid system that complement the merits of small molecule and polymer to be used as an OLED; our system can realize easy processing of light emitting polymers and high luminance efficiency of small molecules. LITI process enables the stripes to be patlerned with excellent thickness uniformity and multi-stacking of various functional layers without having to use any type of fine metal shadow mask. In this study, we report a full-color hybrid OLED using the multi-layered structure consisting of small molecules and polymers.

      • Controlled light emission from white organic light-emitting devices with a single blue-emitting host and multiple fluorescent dopants

        <P>In this work, we fabricated white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) containing a layered light-emitting region composed of a single blue-emitting host and different fluorescent dopant materials. The effects of varying the dye-doping ratio and emitting layer thickness on the efficiency, lifetime, spectral voltage-dependence and white balance were investigated for devices with a blue/orange stacked layer structure. Addition of a blue host layer doped with a green-emitting dopant, to give a blue/green/orange emitter, resulted in a broadband white spectrum without the need for a charge-blocking interlayer. The composition of blue, green and orange dopants in the host and the thickness of each emitting layer were optimized, resulting in a device efficiency of 9–11 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP> even at a high brightness of 10 000 cd m<SUP>−2</SUP> (achieved at a bias voltage of less than 9 V) with an emission spectrum suitable for lighting applications.</P>
