This study evaluated the microleakage and interfacial gap between enamel and composite resin under the dry and wet condition of the enamel surface, V shaped class 5 cavities were prepared on the occlusal portion of extracted human molars. Samples were divided into three groups: D group (air dry for 10-15s), BD group (blot dry with moist cotton pellet), and DR group (air dry for 10-15s and rewet with Aqua-Prep F for 20s). Cavities were filled using Aelitefil composite resin after applied One-Step. Microleakage was tested by 2% methylene blue dye solution and the data were statistically analysed by Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test. Also Enamel-resin interface was observed under SEM. Group BD showed statistically lower microleakage than group D (p〈0.05). but there was no statistically significant difference between group BD and DR (p)0.05). At the enamel-resin interface, group D showed the gap of 2 ㎛ thickness, but group BD and DR showed close adaptation. In conclusion, the use of blot dry and rewetting agent (Aqua-Prep F) resulted in decreased microleakage and improved adhesion between enamel and resin when using One-Step.

To investigate the elects on the administration of Opae-san in rats. Opae-san (500mg/day) and omeprazole(10mg/day) were administration with stomach tube for 4 weeks and 8 weeks. This experiment were investigated numerical change of immunoreactive cells of gastric, histamine and somatostatin in rat stomach mucosa by the immunohistochemical method. The results were as follows : 1. In Opae-san administration group for 4 weeks, the number of gastric immunoreactive cells were increased in one and a half times than that of control group. In omeprazole administration group for 4 weeks, the number of gastric immunoreactive cells were increased in four times than that of control group. In Opae-san administration group for 8 weeks, the number of gastric immunoreactive cells were increased four times than that of control group. In omeprazole administration group for 8 weeks, the number of gastrin immunoreactive cells were increased in six times than that of control group. 2. In Opae-san administration group for 4 weeks, the number of histamine immunoreactive cells were increased in two times than that of control group. In omeprazole administration group for 4 weeks, the number of histamine immunoreactive cells were increased in six times than that of control group. In Opae-san administration group for 8 weeks, the number of histamine immunoreactive cells were increased three times than that of control group. In omeprazole administration group for 8 week, the number of histamine immunoreactive cells were increased in seven times than that of control group. These results suggest that Opae-san extracts inhibit the secretion of gastric acid and this extract use to therapeutic herb of gastric disorders related to the hyperacidity and gastric ulcer.

Background: Neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE) shows some similarities to neuroBehcet`s disease (NBD) in that both conditions have some analogous clinical features and they are both pathologically associated cerebral vasculopathy. This study compared the clinical manifestations, brain MRI findings and prognosis of NPSLE and NBD patients. Methods: Forty three patients with NPSLE (n = 25) or NBD (n = 18), who were monitored at a single center, were enrolled in this study. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and brain MRI data. The neuropsychiatric manifestations were classified in both groups according to the new American College of Rheumatology nomenclature for NPSLE. Results: The diffuse symptoms that included mood disorders, psychosis, confusion, cognitive dysfunctions, generalized seizures and headaches other than migraine or cluster headaches were more commonly observed in the NPSLE patients, while the frequency of focal diseases such as cranial neuropathy tended to be higher in the NBD patients. The brain MRI revealed that the NBD patients had more abnormalities in the brain stem than did the NPSLE patients. Most of the patients improved, at least partially, after being treated with glucocorticoid and/or immune suppressants. However, the disease course differed significantly between the two groups. There were more episodic cases in the NPSLE group of patients, while there were more remittent cases in the NBD group of patients. Conclusion: NPSLE had a tendency to cause diffuse neuropsychiatric manifestations, and it has a different predilection of brain lesions compared with NBD. The NBD patients showed a poorer outcome than did the NPSLE patients, suggesting that different therapeutic strategies for the two diseases need to be considered.
Pentalateral Osteotomy for Cubitus Varus Deformity : A Pitfall in Internal Fixation 내고정 방법에 대한 비교

성장기 아동에서 흔히 발생하는 주관절부 골절 손상은 많은 합병증을 초래할 수 있다. 만기 합병증으로는 내반주 변형이 가장 많으며, 이러한 주관절부 각 변형을 교정하기 위한 절골술에는 여러 방법들이 소개되어 있다. 본 저자들이 채택한 외측 오각절골술은 Laupattarakasen이 발표한 절골술로서 외반 절골술 후 흔히 있는 외측 절골부에 생기는 층을 없애므로써, 돌출로 인한 미용상의 문제와 Lazy-S 변형을 피할 수 있고, 절골부의 접촉면적을 넓힘으로써 골 유합을 촉진시킬 수 있으며 절골술 후 K 강선과 압박 나사못으로 교정이 충분하다고 하였다. 그러나 내고정이 불충분하여 여러 합병증들이 예상되어 절골술 후 내고정에 대한 본 연구를 시행하게 되었다. 저자들은 1990년 9월부터 1993년 4월까지 약 3년동안 추시가 가능하였던 외측 오각절골술을 실시한 16례 중 K강선과 나사로만 고정한 5례와 금속판과 나사로 고정하였던 11례를 전향적 추적 조사 방법으로 수술전 후의 결과를 비교하고자 하였다. Laupattarakasen이 제시한 K강선과 나사로만 고정한 5례 중 3명의 환자가 고정의 소실로 재수술을 시행하였고, 초기 절골술시의 교정각도의 변형이 있었으며, 1명만이 합병증의 발생없이 골유합 소견을 보였다. 반면에 금속판과 나사못을 이용한 외측 오각절골술을 실시한 11명의 환자는 초기 교정의 실패없이 초기에 원하던 교정각도로 교정을 할 수 있었으며 단 1명만이 점액낭염의 합병증이 있었으며 견고한 내고정으로 인해 조기에 관절운동을 실시함으로써, 관절기능을 조기에 회복할 수 있었다. 따라서 외측 오각절골술시 금속판 및 나사못를 이용한 방법이 광범위한 연부조직의 절개, 골유합 후 금속판의 제거등의 단점이 있지만, 보다 견고한 내고정을 함으로써 조기에 관절운동이 가능하였고, 모두 골유합을 얻었으므로 특히, 청소년이나 성인에서는 외측 오각절골술시 금속판과 나사못을 이용한 내고정술이 좋을 것으로 생각된다. The pentalateral osteotomy for cubitus varus deformity was first introduced by Dr. Laupattarakasem in 1989. The osteotomy was aimed at preventing lateral bulging and lazy-S deformity at the osteotomy site while correcting varus and rotational deformity. In his original paper, the fixation was carried out with only one K-wire and one lag screw and in his later paper the fixation was augmented with 2 parallel K-wires and figure of 8 tension band wires. The authors at Inje University Paik Hospital underwent a randomized prospective study and operated 16 cubitus varus deformity with pentalateral osteotomy since 1990. One group was fixed as in the original paper. Many difficulties and complications were experienced in internal fixation. The fixation in the second group was modified by using plate and screws and good results were acheived. We conclude that pentalateral osteotomy for correction of cubitus varus deformity should be followed by rigid fixation with plate and screw especially in adolescent and adult patients.

The study investigated the influence of current density on the corrosion-protection properties of an AZ91 Mg alloy subjected to plasma electrolytic oxidation coating. The present coatings were carried out under an AC condition at three different current densities, i.e., 100, 150, and 200 mA/cm2. From microstructural observations, the micro cracks connecting each micro pore were pronounced on the oxide surface of the samples coated at current densities higher than 150 mA/cm2 since increasing the current density in this study led to an increment in the relative volume fraction of the MgO compound. Based on potentio dynamic polarization and immersion tests, the sample coated at a current density of 100 mA/cm2 showed superior corrosion resistance.

This work investigated the microstructure and mechanical properties of 6063 Al alloy fabricated by shear-drawing (SD) technique where shear and drawing strains were combined together within a predetermined die. To find the optimum condition for sound deformation, three different dies having different inner angle and diameter of the exit channel were prepared. After single deformation of the present sample, the sound deformation took place without an abrupt failure of the sample if the inner angle would be greater than 135˚ in this study, when the channel diameter of the SD die was reduced from 10 to 9 mm. Microstructural observation showed that the inner angle of 135˚ was found to be more effective than that of 150˚ in terms of the alignment of each grain to the shear direction imposed by SD method. In addition, the yield strength of the SD-deformed sample was twice higher than that of the initial counterpart while loosing ductility in tension.
