In study on analytic method to estimate the extrusion load for the extrusion of sections through square dies is developed by using the slab equlibrium and upperbound theorem. The proposed method is applicable to the extrusion of noncircular shaped section as well as circular case. In order to verify the theoretical results two dies having the 80% area reduction are manufactured by EDM. Experiments are carried out at room temperature and plasticines are used as working material. Theoretical results are good agreement eith the experimntal results.
The Role of Histone Acetylation in Mesenchymal Stem Cell Differentiation

The mechanism and action concerning epigenetic modifications, especially that of histone modifications, are not fully understood. However, it is clear that histone modifications play an essential role in several biological processes that are involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. In this article, we focused on how histone acetylation may result in differentiation into mesenchymal stem cells as well as histone acetylation function. Moreover, histone acetylation followed by the action of histone deacetylase inhibitors, which can result in the differentiation of stem cells into other types of cells such as adipocytes, chondrocytes, osteocytes, neurons, and other lineages, were also reviewed.
원위 대퇴골의 고립성 골연골종에서 발생한 속발성 연골 육종 1례 보고

연골육종은 비교적 서서히 자라며 늦게 전이하는 악성 연골 종양으로 알려져 있다. 골 연골종에서 발생한 속발성 연골육종은 발생빈도는 드물며 타부위로의 전이가 적고 악성도가 낮은 경우가 많아 적합한 수술적 치료로서 좋은 예후를 보이는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 동국대학교 정형외과학 교실에서는 우측 대퇴골 원위부 골간단부에 생긴 고립성 골 연골종에서 이차적으로 발생한 연골육종을 치험한 바 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Secondary chondrosarcomas arising from a solitary osteocartilaginous exostosis are rare and those have a better prognosis than other chondrosarcomas, and they rarely metastasize. We present our experience with a case of secondary chondrpsarcoma arising in solitary osteochondroma of distal metaphysis of right femur with clinical details.
Expression of Keratin 10 in Rat Organ Surface Primo-vascular Tissues

The primo-vascular system is described as the anatomical structure corresponding to acupuncture meridians and has been identified in several tissues in the body, but its detailed anatomy and physiology are not well understood. Recently, the presence of keratin 10 (Krt10) in primo-vascular tissue was reported, but this finding has not yet been confirmed. In this study, we compared Krt10 expression in primo-vascular tissues located on the surface of rat abdominal organs with Krt10 expression on blood and lymphatic vessels. Krt10 protein (approximately 56.5 kDa) was evaluated by western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. Krt10 (IR) in the primo-node was visualized as patchy spots around each cell or as a follicle-like structure containing a group of cells. Krt10 IR was also identified in vascular and lymphatic tissues, but its distribution was diffuse over the extracellular matrix of the vessels. Thus Krt10protein was expressed in all three tissues tested, but the expression pattern of Krt10 in primo-vascular tissue differed from those of blood and lymphatic vascular tissues, suggesting that structural and the regulatory roles of Krt10 in primo-vascular system are different from those in blood and lymphatic vessels.
