New emtting materials based on 1,5-Diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane for OLEDs applications

Derivatives of 1,5-Diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane with anthracene substituents at ortho or para position of phenyl rings were synthesized. And Organic Linght Emitting Devices were fabricated with these materials as non-doped emitting layer. The effects of substituted anthracene substituents have been compared based on both materials and solid device evaluation. Its optical and electroluminescent properties were investigated. Three compounds were used as emitting layer (EML) in OLED device: ITO / 2-TNATA (60nm) / NPB (15 nm) / synthesized materials (30 nm) / Alq3 (20 nm) / LiF / Al. The luminance efficiency of the synthesized compound at 10mA/cm2 were measured 1.56cd/A for Ph-o-21 and 0.28cd/A for Ph-o-20 respectively. Moreover, the power efficiency were measured 1.08lm/W for Ph-o-21 and 0.09lm/W for Ph-o-20. The device, prepared by using the anthracene-substituted material at ortho position, showed the better performance with CIE(x,y)=(0.28,0.45).
채낚기어업에서의 살오징어(Todarodes pacificus) 장기 어획변동과 생태 학적 특성 변화

To assess the state of Todarodes pacificus fisheries, we examined changes in major fishing and ecological characteristics by comparing jigging fishery data between high (HCLP, 1996-2000) and low (LCLP, 2013-2017) catch level periods. The peak catch occurred in October during the HCLP compared with December during the LCLP. The average catch per unit effort was higher during the HCLP (1.3 tons/jigging vessel) than LCLP (1.0 ton/jigging vessel). During the HCLP, fishing grounds were highly concentrated in the southwestern East Sea and Yamato bank, whereas during the LCLP, the distribution of grounds extended to the South Sea, West Sea, and northern East Sea (near Russian waters) at a low density. Water temperatures in the main fishing ground in the southwestern East Sea were higher at 0, 50, and 100 m depths during the LCLP than HCLP. Meanwhile, the average mantle length of catches decreased from 23.5 cm during the HCLP to 22.21 cm during the LCLP. The mantle length at 50% maturity also decreased between the two periods from 22.06 (HCLP) to 18.77 cm (LCLP). These findings will help guide future management strategies for T. pacificus.
Synthesis and electroluminescent properties of 1,5-Diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane derivatives

A series of 1,5-Diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane derivatives with naphthalenanthracene substituents at meta or ortho position of phenyl rings were synthesized: Na-m-14 and Na-o-15. Two compounds were used as nondoped emitting layers (EMLs) in OLEDs with following structure: ITO / 2-TNATA (60nm) / NPB (15 nm) / EML (35 nm) / Alq3 (20 nm) / LiF / Al. The luminance efficiency of the synthesized compound at 10mA/㎠ were measured 2.16cd/A for Na-m-14 and 2.83cd/A for Na-o-15. Moreover, the power efficiency were measured 0.89lm/W, 1.25lm/W respectively. The device, using the naphthalen-anthracene substituted material at ortho position, showed the better performance.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness and safety of frequently used clinical herbal medicines (Yijung-tang [Lizhong-tang, LJT], Pyeongwi-san [Pingwei-san, PWS], and Shihosogan-tang [Chaihu Shugan-tang, SST]) in patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) when administered according to herbal medicine and Korean medicine pattern identification. The results of this study will be used to standardize the diagnostic instrument used in Korean medicine and to investigate biomarkers of Korean medicine pattern identification. Methods: This study will be a randomized, assessor-blind, 3-arm, parallel, open-label, multi-center clinical trial. A total of 300 FD participants will be recruited from 3 Korean medical hospitals and assigned to the LJT (n=100), PWS (n=100), and SST (n=100) groups according to FD pattern identification. The patients will take the medication for 8 weeks, 3 times a day, before or between meals. The primary outcome will be total dyspepsia symptom (TDS) and the secondary outcomes will be adequate relief (AR) for dyspepsia, overall treatment effect (OTE), visual analogue scale (VAS), functional dyspepsia-related quality of life (FD-QoL), gastrointestinal symptom score (GIS), and pattern identification questionnaires. For the exploratory outcomes, we will analyze blood and fecal metabolome profiles, microbiota from fecal and saliva samples, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), and results of Korean medicine diagnosis device measurements (heart rate variability, and tongue, pulse, and abdominal diagnosis). Conclusions: The results of this study will prove objectivity for Korean medicine pattern identifications, and the effectiveness and safety of herbal medicines for the population with FD.
고지방식이로 유도된 대사증후군 모델 동물에서 백호가인삼탕(白虎加人參湯)의 장내미생물 및 유전자 발현 조절을 통한 대사 개선 효과

Objectives We aimed to find out the improvement effect of Baekhogainsam-tang (Baihu Jia Renshen-tang, BIT) on metabolic syndrome and alteration of microbiota and gene expression. Methods We used male C57BI/6 mice and randomly assigned them into three groups. Normal control group was fed 10% kcal% fat diet, high-fat diet (HFD) group was fed 45% kcal% fat diet and 10% fructose water. BIT group was fed same diet as HFD group and treated by BIT for once daily, 6 days per week, total 8 weeks. We measured their body weight and food intake every week and performed oral glucose tolerance test 1 week before the end of the study. Then we collected the blood sample to measure triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, insulin, and hemoglobin A1c. We harvested tissue of liver, muscle, fat, and large intestine for quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and histopathological examination. Fresh fecal samples were collected from each animal to verify alterations of gut microbiota and we used RNA from liver tissue for microarray analysis. Results The body weight and fat weight of BIT group were reduced compared to HFD group. The qPCR markers usually up-regulated in metabolic syndrome were decreased in BIT group. Bacteroides were higher in BIT group than other groups. There were also differences in gene expressions between two groups such as Cyp3a11 and Scd1. Conclusions We could find out BIT can ameliorate metabolic syndrome and suggest its effect is related to gut microbiota composition and gene expression pattern.
Synthesis and Properties of poly{2-ethynyl-N-[4-(methylthio)benzylpyridinium bromide]}

Conjugated polymers attract a particular attention as promising materials for photovoltaics, displays, lasers, nonlinear optical materials, chemical sensors, and realted applications as well as for gas separation and permeation membranes. Here, an ionic conjugated polymer with aromatic functional groups was synthesized via the non-catalyst polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine by using 4-(methylthio)benzyl bromide without any additional initiator or catalyst. The polymerization proceeded well in polar solvents such as DMF, DMSO, NMP and pyridine, and produced high yields. The polymer structure was characterized to have a conjugated polymer backbone system containing N-(4-(methylthio)benzylpyridinium bromide as substituents. The cyclovoltammograms of the polymer exhibited an electrochemically stable window in the -1.32 to 1.92 V region. The photoluminescence maximum peak of polymer was located at 508 nm, which corresponds to the photon energy level of 2.44 eV.
Modification of poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene) by using 1,4-butanesultone

Polyelectrolytes are charged macromolecules containing a large number of ionizable or ionic groups. The modification reaction of poly(4-vinylpyridine- co-styrene) was performed by using 1,4-butanesultone. The chemical structure and properties of the resulting poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene) with the sulfobetaine pendant groups were characterized. The cyclovoltammograms of modified polymer showed irreversible oxidation and reversible reduction response properties in a polymer unit. The plot of the oxidation current density of polymer versus the scan rate showed approximately a linear relationship in the range of 30 mV/sec~150 mV/sec.
