In the course of phytochemical studies of Chrysanthermi Flos(Chrysanthemum indicum L., Compositae), two compounds were isolated by repeated column chromatography. Compound 1 is identified as adenosine on the basis of spectroscopic means and comparison with an authentic standard. Compound 2 is determined to be a new alkyl alcohol glycoside, 1-octen-3-ol $3-O-{\beta}-D-xylopyranosyl(1{\rightarrow} 6)-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$ on the spectroscopic evidence. Compounds 1 and 2 are reported for the first time from this plant.

The Structures of Two Diosgenin Glycosides Isolated from the Subterranean Parts of Allium fistulosum

파 지하부로부터 분리된 2종의 diosgenin 배당체의 구조를 그의 분광학적 data와 화학적 실험 등의 방법으로 결정하였다. 그 결과, 이 두화합물의 구조는 diosgenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-[α-L -rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)]-β-D-glucopyranoside(1, dioscin)과 diosgenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-α-L -rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside(2, saponin P-d)로서 기지물질이나, saponin P-d를 부분가수분해하여 얻은 prosapogenin 중 compound 4는 문헌 미기재의 물질이다. The structures of dioscin(1) and saponin P-d(2), isolated from the subterranean part of Allium fistulosum, were determined as diosgenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)]-β-D-glucop-yranoside(1) and diosgenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-[α-L-rhamno-pyranosyl(1→2)]-β-D-glucopyranoside(2) by spectroscopic and chemical degradational methods. The prosapogenin(4), which was provided on partial hydrolysis of 2, was not reported in previous literature.

This study aimed to examine the validity of solving ethical issues in sports with philosophical counseling based on Habermas’s Theory of Communicative Action by reviewing the literature on ethical issues in sports and philosophical counseling. The results are as follows. First, ethical issues in sports need to be dealt with using an intrinsic approach through philosophy, which can be done through philosophical counseling. Second, most unethical situations in sports are those collapsed by social rationality, money and political power. Thus, it is appropriate to solve unethical issues and draw positive social consensus through philosophical counseling based on Habermas’s Theory seeking communicative rationality. Third, unethical issues in sports need to be solved not just at a personal level, but also at a social level by promoting philosophical counseling in sports.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the referee’s perception of judging the game based on ‘The theory of Communicative Action’by Jürgen Habermas. Subjects were limited to Taekwondo judges. Method: The in-depth interview method was used to obtain specific data, and the subjects were selected from those with 13 to 19 years of referee experience. The collected data were analyzed by an analytical method. The data obtained through the analysis were transformed into academic terms through categorization, and the work to find the essential meaning of these terms was performed. First, the participants of the study were competing in the game with their own judgment criteria, and they were said to make judgments based on the player’s ability, manners, and intentional behaviors. Second, it was found that the referees were not in a condition to focus only on the decision work in reality, but they had no choice but to take charge of the judging task even at the risk of doing so. Third, the difference in position between the referee and the player in the judgment was clear, and it was found that communication was necessary to create a rational and fair game through mutual relations. Conclusion: If the referees and players communicate more actively, it will help to create a rational and fair Taekwondo game. However, since this study was conducted only with male participants, it is suggested that a study with female participants be conducted in the subsequent study.

Three compounds were isolated from the rhizomes of Dioscorea quinqueloba and identified as $diosgenin\;3-O-{\alpha}_-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1{\rightarrow}2)-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside$, dioscin and gracillin by chemical and spectroscopic means.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the slopes of control algorithm and dimming levels based on different inputs and parameters. Different parameters such as photosensor aiming angles, sky types, and seasonal changes were considered. To determine the slopes of control algorithm and dimming levels, photosensor signals and workplan illuminance values were simulated by DayDim program, which is a lighting calculation and analysis tool. A typical small office space was used for simulation, and three different sky types in three different seasons were considered. This study shows that differences in dimming levels can occur according to different sky types, if system calibration is conducted in a particular sky type.

The platelet activating factor (PAF) is a newly discovered chemical mediator, the chemical structure of which is 1-O-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine. Since PAF has potent and broad activities, its pathophysiological roles have received much attention. To develope a new PAF antagonist from medicinal plants, extracts of twenty medicinal herb were screened using PAF receptor binding, $[^{14}C]$ serotonin release and platelet aggregation.

To screen inhibitors on complement system from natural resources, micro-screening method was established by using hemolytic complement assay. Complement fixation reaction was carried out in the microplate system. For standard hemolysis (50% hemolysis) of the classical pathway (CP), hemolysin and complement serum were diluted to 1/75∼1/100 and 1/80∼1/120, respectively, when sheep erythrocytes were 5.0×10^8 cells/㎖. In case of the alternative pathway (AP), complement serum was diluted to 1/5 and EGTA and Mg^(2+) were added 4 mM, 4∼8 mM, respectively, when rabbit erythrocytes were 4.0×10^8 cells/㎖. Dimethyl sulfoxide was used for the assay of non-aquous soluble compounds or extracts and its final concentration was not more than 1%. Three phenylpropanoids showed anticomplementary activities in proportion to the concentration for both pathways and rosmarinic acid exihibited the highest inhibitory activities: 5.4±3.6%(0.063 mM)∼95.8±0.2%(0.5 mM) and 35.1±0.9%(0.063 mM)∼95.6±1.1%(1 mM) on the CP and the AP, respectively.
