The main objective of this study is to investigate the influence of physician`s communication styles and quality, and physician-patient relationship on patient satisfaction for improving physician`s communication which is one of factors determining service quality in health care services, and providing the suggestion for building the positive physician-patient relationship. Data were collected from 341 inpatients in 13 general hospitals and university hospitals located in Busan Metropolitan City and Kyeongsang-do area using structured self-administered questionnaires. Major results of the empirical analysis are as follows; First, mutual-opened-cooperative physician-patient relationship, patient`s communication receptive attitude, patient-oriented physician`s communication style, and quality were significantly varied by respondents` characteristics such as age, consensual, job, and income. Second, empathy, patient`s communication receptive attitude, physician-patient relationship, and patient satisfaction were significantly varied by respondents` medical-related conditions. Third, there was a significant correlation between active communication receptive attitude of patient and mutual-opened-cooperative physician-patient relationship. Fourth, patient-oriented physician`s communication style and physician-patient relationship were found to have positive influence on total communication quality and effectiveness and empathy facet of communication quality both. Finally, patient-oriented physician`s communication style, empathy, active communication receptive attitude of patient, and mutual-opened-cooperative physician-patient relationship were found to have positive influence on patient satisfaction. This research findings suggest that putting emphasis on effective physician`s communication and enhancing positive physician-patient relationship are crucial for marketing activities and customer satisfaction management in health care settings.

Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the participation type of organizational members with their key activities to organizational performance. It compared reporting behavior of physicians participating in two kinds of surveillance systems, legally notifiable communicable diseases(LNCD) and sentinel surveillance system(CSS), which differ in terms of participation, mandatory versus voluntary. Methods: Self-administered questionnaires were mailed to 1,955 randomly selected LNCD surveillance physicians of internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, dermatology, and general practice and to all 193 physicians who were involved in pediatric CSS. The survey asked about reporting behaviour of communicable diseases, physicians and medical institutional characteristics related to reporting. Simple and multiple analyses were done to find out factors related to reporting behavior, especially focusing on type of participation. Results: Though Factors such as sex, age, knowledge, attitude of physicians and ownership of medical institution where physicians work affected physician reporting by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The type of participation (voluntary) also significantly increased physician reporting behaviour (OR: 2.62, 95% CI: 1.61-4.25). Conclusions: This study showed that voluntary participation of members in health care organizations also seemed to stimulate their activities, and eventually improving organizational performance. This proves voluntary participation could be a more effective way for matured and well trained organizational members such as physicians.
농촌 소규모 중학교 학생의 영어 학습 동기, 태도, 동기 상실 요인 분석과 개선방안

This study is to identify the motivation, attitude, demotivating factors for small-sized middle school students’ learning English in the rural community, and to suggest ways of increasing their positive attitude and motivation, while decreasing demotivating factors. A questionnaire based on previous studies for pre-surveys was developed in order to examine the students’ motivation, interest, anxiety, attitude and demotivating factors in learning English. Unlike the other studies which put the teacher-related factors as most demotivating, students charged off it to themselves. Based on the result of the study, some suggestions are made to motivate students and to reduce the demotivating factors in learning English. First, students’ intrinsic motivation should be increased by some teaching instructions such as writing a self-evaluation journal, using learning strategies. Second, teachers can manage the class to decrease anxiety for studying English and to increase good learning attitude.
통증완화를 위한 오피오이드 사용의 교훈: 경제협력개발기구 회원국의 경험을 중심으로

The growing use of prescription analgesic opioids has rapidly escalated the treatment of chronic pain since the 1990s; however, it is also highly needed to control opioid-related issues, including opioids misuse, abuse, and addiction. In 2018, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) secretariat administered the survey on opioids use and policies to OECD countries and presented it at the Health Committee meeting of December 2018. This study aimed to review the opioids use in OECD countries and their policies to prevent and reduce associated harms, also seek the available policy lessons from OECD countries. More recently, opioids prescribing rate have been increased 14.7% between 2011-2013 and 2014-2016 and steadily focused on the main substance misused and abused in Korea. In addition, policy efforts have contributed to developing a guideline for prescribing opioids to steer the appropriate use of prescription analgesic opioids since 2000 in Korea, so it is not enough to control opioids compared with other OECD countries. Therefore, taking a people-centered and public health perspective, it will consider the health system policies and interventions at a national level to improve their preparation and approach to control opioid-related issues.

The emergency medical service system in Korea was built upon the Emergency Medical Service Act, 1995 to respond adequately to be much in demand for emergency medical services. In addition, the government recognized the importance of the trauma care system and set out to plan for the designation and establishment of the regional trauma center by 2012. This study aimed to investigate features of quality management and trauma fee schedule on better understanding of trauma care system. First, quality management of the regional trauma center has been implemented by several quality programs involved in quality assessment, committee on trauma quality management, and mortality and morbidity conference. Second, the trauma fee schedule has reflected a specific quality of severe traumatic conditions and added the result to it, which are graded A, B, and C according to quality assessment. Although the government has contributed to instituting a trauma quality assessment program and trauma fee schedule for the regional trauma center, it could not lead to such a fixed standard for quality management of them. Therefore, it will promote discussion on the sustainability of the regional trauma center that requires reducing preventable trauma death rate and the way to apply comprehensive quality management.
