Japanese colonialists viewed religious freedom as a modern and “civilized” value, and promised to guarantee religious freedom to Protestant missionaries. However, missionaries’ interpretations of religious freedom were very different from those of colonialists. The civilization-oriented understanding of Protestant missions provided a broad view of religious freedom. Missionaries saw the public role of religious practices, educational freedom, and the institutional autonomy of religious institutions as constituting elements of their religious freedom. However, Japanese colonizers saw such a liberal understanding of religious freedom as a political threat. Colonialists sought to monopolize the political and educational domains, and so the colonial power put a fundamental limit on the political dimension of religious freedom by privatizing and depoliticizing religious beliefs and practices, excluding religious influences from public education, and encroaching upon the institutional autonomy of Protestant institutions. This colonial policy on religious freedom necessarily brought colonialists into conflict with Protestant missionaries. Nevertheless, most Protestant missionaries were not antagonistic toward Japanese, at least until the rise of Shinto controversy in the mid-1930s. They supported colonial political order, offering theological legitimation to the regime. Missionaries saw political stability and public security as a necessary condition for religious freedom.

The aging characteristics of 2 kinds of 3 years field-aged distribution polymer insulators which were dismounted from 5 regions have been investigated by electrical test and material characterization. Although the tan $\delta$of specimens prepared from weathershed was increased with surface aging, the tan $\delta$and leakage current of real products had no difference between virgin and dismounted ones. Due to the aging, all dismounted polymer insulators had micro-cracks on the surface of weathershed and only the products of manufacturer B showed the reduction of OIT(oxidation induction time). But, there were no differences between virgin and dismounted products in contact angle and chemical structure. Therefore, it can be considered that the aging is only limited on the surface of dismounted polymer insulators and that NMR technique are very useful to evaluate the aging of polymer materials.

The Evangelical Church of India(ECI) initially concentrated on the same ethnic groups that were receptive with the theological background of the first president Bishop, Rev. Dr. Ezra Sargunam, whose base was on Donald A. McGavran’s principle of church growth. In addition, he emphasized on the missionary strategy of power encounter to heal the sick and drive out the Satan while paying attention to the socially oppressed and repressed people. Later, the ECI carried out various missionary strategies, including Indian Missionary Movements, Every Community for Christ(ECC) operations, and ethnic mission strategy, receptive mission strategy, power encounter mission strategy, strategic cooperation mission, community services and relief activities, and urban mission strategy, etc. As a result, the ECI has established 3 theological colleges and 10 Bible schools to train leaders, and churches are continuously being pioneered and built throughout India. For continuous growth, the ECI is seeking to dispatch missionaries to non-evangelized tribes and a change in the role of Bible schools and theological colleges. The ECI is reorganizing the ECC, is emphasizing the need for missionaries to all generations, including layman, children and young people in local churches and is nurturing leaders for the next generation. The mission strategy of the ECC suggests what mission strategy is suitable for the mission site.

The primary insulation materials used in an oil filled transformer are kraft paper, wood, porcelain and oil. Modern transformers use chemically treated paper to improve its tensile strength and resistance to aging caused by immersion in oil. But these insulation papers are mainly aged by thermal stress. Over the life time of the insulation paper and oil, it is exposed to high temperatures, oxygen and water. Its interaction with the steel of the tank and core plus the copper and aluminium of the windings will eventually cause the chemical properties of the oil to decay. High temperature have an effect on mechanical strength of cellulous paper used in the layer insulation. We made two aging cells in which insulation papers and mineral oil are conducted to test thermal properties. It is measured dielectric strength, number of acid, moisture, etc. of insulation paper and oil aged in the aging cells.
