한국산 씀바귀(Lactuca dentata Makino)의 ethylacetate 추출물에서 6 종류의 flavonoid 성분이 TLC에 의해서 검출되었으며, 이들은 극성에 따라서 A에서 F가지 명명되었다. 그들 중 주성분으로 생각되는 물질 E를 column chromatography을 이용하여 분리정제 하였다. 물질 E의 녹는 점은 249.5℃-251℃로 나타났으며, 그 구조를 밝히기 위하여, 물질 E와 이를 가수분해한 genin에 대한 여러가지 shift reagent에서 UV와 IR분석을 하고 또한 물질 E와 그의 acetyl 유도체에 대한 NMR 분석을 하였으며 물질 E에 결합된 당은 TLC에 의하여 확인하였다. 이와같은 분석 결과에서 물질 E는 luteolin 모핵에 glucose가 결합된 luteolin-7-0-β-D-glucoside로서 확인되었다. The ethylacetate extract of Lactuca dentata Makino showed 6 flavonoidal components as detected by ferric chloride solution. The flavonoidal constituent of Lactuca dantata Makino was isolated and purified by the series of column chromatography. The chemical structure of one of the flavonoidal component named as compound E was identified by UV, IR and NMR spectrometry. The melting point range of compound E was 249.5℃-251℃. The UV and IR spectra of purified compound E, and its genin were measured with the various shifting agents. The results of UV analysis showed the free state of hydroxy group at 3rd and 4th carbon and binding of sugar at the 7th carbon of compound. The sugar bound to the compound E was identified as glucose by TLC. The IR spectrum showed the presense of hydroxy group, conjugated carbonyl group and aromatic group. The analysis of NMR spectrum was done to the purified compound and its derivatives. The chemical shifts against hydrogen atom, hydroxy group, and the moiety of luteolin were observed in the NMR spectrum along with their position and number as well as type of sugar bound. The isolated and purified compound was identified as luteolin-7-0-β-D-glucoside.

지치의 붉은 색소인 shikonin은 물을 제외한 유기용매에 쉽게 용해되었으며 특히 ethylether에서 용해성이 가장 좋았다. 이들의 UV-Visible 흡수곡선을 조사한 결과 516 ± 2nm에서 최대 흡수부를 나타내었고 붉은색 색소의 특성을 가지고 있었다. 한편 shikonin-ethyl alcohol용액의 안정된 pH영역은 4.0-6.5이었으며 광선과 산소에 대해서는 민감하였고 Hg??, Ag??, Co?? 이온에 대해서 색조의 변화를 초래하였다. shikonin용액의 온도에 대한 영향은 실온 및 냉장온도에서 가장 안정하였으며, 가공적성 실험에서는 shikonin이 지용성 색소로 이용될 때 액체 식품과 반고체시품에서, 특히 juice와 같은 낮은 저장 온도를 요구하는 음료에 적합하였다. Shikonin is red pigment isolated from the root of Lithospermum erythrorhizon Sieb. et Zucc. and produced in commercial scale by tissue culture method. To evaluate the possiblities of the shikonin as an edible natural pigment, the stablities of the pigment and acceptabilities of shikonin to model foods were investigated. The free shikonin was solved freely in non-polor solvents whereas insoluble in water. Shikonin pigment was stable at pH range between 4.0 and 6.5, and below 70℃. The presence of oxygen and light accelerated shikonin degredation. This pigment was unstable to Ag??, Hg²?? and Co²?? ions. It is found that shikonin could be applicated well to juice and jelly type food whereas not be suitable to solid food.

Two triterpenoid saponins were isolated from the methanol extract of Caltha minor leave(Ranunculaceae). The structure of these saponin were elucidated as hederagenin-3-0-alpha-rhamnopyranosyl(1->2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranoside and 3-0-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1->2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin 28-0-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(l->4)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl(l->6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester.
자리공, Phytolacca esculenta Van Houttuyn

The red juice of Korean pokeberry, the fruit of Phytolacca esculenta Van Houttuyn. was obtained by extraction with citric acid and the toxic saponin moieties removed from the juice by the precipitation using conc. H₂SO₄and successive liquid-liquid partition with n-BuOH. The saponin free juice was purified by column chromatography using silica gel, Dowex and PVPP column. The red pigments from the purified juice were identified by using TLC, UV-visible absorption scanning, electrophoresis and HPLC, and by comparing with purified beet juice. It was found that red pigments of P. esculenta fruits were mainly consist of betanin, prebetanin and betanidin.

2188 volunteered for blood donation in blood bank of Wonju Christian Hospital during the period from January to December, 1993. Through the performing the physical examination, history, specific gravity of blood, and blood typing, 1781 were found eligible for blood donation and 1706 donated blood. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. The donors mainly consisted of 21-29 year-old group(63.7%) and 30-39 year-old group(23.7 %) with male to female ratio of 9.6: 1 2. The occupation of donors was soldier(30.0 %), employee(22.4 %) student(21.3 %), public service personnel(4.9 %), and others(21.3 %). 3. Among the all 2188 candidates, 407(18.6 %)were deferred due to various diseases(47.6 %), abnormal blood pressure(23.1 %) and ABO incompatibility against the directed recipient(l1.8 %) poor vessels(5.4 %), low specific gravity of blood(4.4 %), and underage donor(4.1 %), and other causes. 4. Among the 1,706 donor bloods tested for serological markers, 109(6.4 %) units were discarded due to positive HBsAg(42.6 %), positive anti-HCV(2.7 %), reactive VORL test (9.2 %), elevated ALT level(39.4 %), and simultaneously increased ALT with positive HBsAg(6.4 %). 5. 1552(91 %)were directed donors and 154 were purely voluntary donors. All directed blood units were transfused to the directed recipients as the whole blood. Departements that wanted the directed blood donors were general surgery, chest surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and others.
