Serum samples collected from 30 breeders and their progeny 30 chicks. The antibodies against infectious bronchitis(IB), infectious bursal disease(IBD) and Newcastle disease(ND) viruses were detected by ELISA using commercial ELISA kit. The breeders were vaccinated against IB, IBD and ND viruses according to general vaccination program. Geometric mean titers(GMT) of ELISA were monitored from 1-day old to 17-day old chicks and compared with breeder chickens. The GMT of ELISA to IB, IBD and ND were declined half level of the breeder antibody titer at 6-, 8- and 7-day old. And, the GMT of ELISA to IB, IBD and ND were declined than that of protective titer at 6-, 1-, and 4-day old. Thereafter, the GMT of ELISA was declined and disappeared according to ages of chicks. Taken together, this study led to conclusion that time-course of maternal antibody titers of chicks from vaccinated breeders, and this is very important data for vaccination to chicks.
산란계 밀집지역에서 혈구응집억제반응과 효소면역측정법을 이용한 가금인플루엔자 혈중항체가의 비교 조사

This study was conducted to investigate the similarity between hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), the HI titer and mean ratio S/P ratio) of avian influenza virus. To perform this study, the 1,457 sera of layers 21 farms in May, July and September, respectively. As a result of HI test, positive rates were 480 to 422 (92.1%) in May, 494 to 394(79.8%) in July and 483 to 402(83.2%) in September, and the mean antibody titer were 4.6, 4.3, 4.0 to 0.3 decreased, respectively. The positive rates by ELISA, 480 to 475(99.0%) in May, 494 to 485(98.2%) in July, 483 to 472(97.7%) in September, and the mean S/P ratio were 2.319, 2.557 and 2.380, respectively. The result of HI test and ELISA positive 480 to 422(92.1%), 475(99.0%), 494 to 394(79.8%), 485(98.2%) and 483 to 402(83.2%), 472(97.7%). Therefore, ELISA was shown more sensitive compare the HI titers.

Serum samples were collected from 100 breeders and their progeny 600 broilers. The breeders and broilers were vaccinated against infectious bronchitis(IB), infectious bursal disease(IBD) and Newcastle disease(ND) viruses according to general vaccination program. The antibodies in serum samples against TB, IBD and ND viruses were detected by ELISA using commercial ELISA kit. Geometric mean titer(GMT) of ELISA was monitored from 1-day-old to 35-day-old broilers and compared to that of breeder chickens. The GMT of ELISA to TB, IBD and ND was declined half level of the day old broiler`s antibody titers at about 4, 9 and 4 days of age. The GMT of ELISA to IB, IBD and ND was declined than that of protective antibody titer at about 12, 11, and 15 days of age. Thereafter, the GMT of ELISA to IB, ND were declined and disappeared according to age of broilers. The GMT of ELISA to IBD was declined according to age of broilers, but at 25 days of age increased and 31 days of age increased than that of protective antibody titer. Taken together, these studies led to conclusion that time-course of antibody titers of broilers from vaccinated breeders and that of progeny broilers which vaccinated according to vaccine program. Those are very important data to design vaccine program to breeders and broilers.

Classical swine fever(CSF) was confirmed in 19 herds in Jeunbuk provence(Iksan, Gimje, Wanju, Buan, and Jangsu) in Korea between March and May, 2003 and 10,263 pigs were slaughtered. Pigs contacted with CSF virus in primary outbreak farm show fever, reduced appetite, arched back and chill in company with sever respirative sign and then most infected farms also were observed to fever, reduced appetite, sudden death, and leukopenia(101 pigs). In order to detecting infectious pig with CSF virus, A total of 555 pigs were inspected in 65 herds and blood samples were collected and serological test(ELISA), antigen ELISA, and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) had been done. Positive rate were 74%(410 pigs) in antibody ELISA, 2%(11 pigs) in antigen ELISA and 33%(182 pigs) in RT-PCR, respectively. As shown that the RT-PCR was useful than the ELISA for determining CSF virus in blood, meat, and other organs.

Plasmids are covalently closed circular molecules of DNA that are stably inherited and replicate somewhat independently of the bacterial chromosome. Genes carried on plasmids can mediate a wide variety of important functions, including antibiotics(R plasmids) and heavy metals resistance, toxins production, cell penetration, iron chelation, complement resistance, and metabolic characteristics such as sucrose and lactose fermentation. Fifty strains of lactobacilli were isolated from 26 staters and 29 fermented milk products. They were classified 27 strains as Lactobacillus paracasei subsp paracasei , 11 stains as Lactococcus lactis subsp cremoris, 6 strains as L delbrueckii subsp lactis, 4 strains as L acidophius, and 2 strains as L delbrueckii subsp bulgaricus. All of these strains were examined for drug resistance and transferability of R plasmids. All of the isolates were sensitive to Am, C, CF, E, NB, P, T, and Te. But resistant to SXT 94%(47 strains), K 66%(33 strains), S 56%(28 strains), ENR 50%(25 strains), NOR 38% (19 strains) CIP 38%(19 strains), GM 16%(8 strains), and N 14%(7 strains), in order. And 32 different resistant patterns were found. The most frequently encountered patterns were CIP-ENR-K-NOR-S-SXT (5 strains). In vitro R plasmids transfer experiment, 57 antibiotic resistant strains which were not trans-fer to the recipient 2 Escherichia coli strains by conjugation. These results indicate that Lactobacillus in internal trade market` stater recognize R factor but transmissible R plasmid is not existed.

Recently, mass spectrometry coupled with liquid chromatography(LC/MS) has been a preferred technique for determination of organic compounds in complex matrixes. LC/MS provides a high degree sensitivity and specificity of the compounds of interest. The purpose of this study was to confirm analytical method of residual 6 benzimidazoles (thiabendazole, oxfendazole, mebendazole, albendazole, flubendazole and fenbendazole) in meat by LC/MS. Benzimidazoles were analyzed by LC/MS on XTerra C18 column with 0.01% trifluoroacetic acid-acetonitrile(TFA) in a gradient mode as mobile phase, and that were identified by electrospray ionization with selected ion recording mode at 150-350amu mass range. Residual benzimidazoles were extracted from tissue with ethylacetate, and elute benzimidazoles with 50% acetonitrile. In the LC/MS analysis of benzimidazoles, signal to noise ratio was showed relatively high in the positive mode and special ion in the quality analysis was determined via [M+H]+ and Fragment ions. 재래산양과 호주산 산양에서의 Anaplasmosis 발생보고

Following the death of more than 250 goats in one herd of 800 goats, imported from Australia, an epidemiological investigation was undertaken to determine the probable aetiology of this apprently mysterious disease. The syndrome was characterized by severe anemia(Hematocrit <20% ; normal range 24 to 48). All the affected animals were imported from Australia and all the motalities occurred during the period from September to November, 1992 Giemsa stain, acridine orange and indirect immunoflourescence tests were utilized in a survey involving 239 goats reared in Chonbuk Province. The positivity rates by acridine orange for anaplasmosis or piroplasmosis were 60.8% and 66.2% for imported and indigenous breeds respectively. It is tenatively concluded that the probable cause of death was anaplasmosis.
