Pancreatic fistula is used to encompass communication between the pancreatic duct and the skin (external fistula), between the pancreatic duct and hollow viscera, and between the pancreatic duct and peritoneal or pleural cavities (internal fistula). The majority of pancreatic fistulas are external fistula. The common causes of pancreatic fistula were trauma and pancreatic surgery. Pancreatic fistula due to pancreatitis was rare. Pancretico-colonic fistula accompanying pancreatitis did not occur during the eary, acute phase of pancreatitis, but rather as a consequence of pancreatic abscess and/or pesudocyst. The major site of fistula was in the transverse colon, the splenic flexure, and the descending colon in order. We experience a case of pancreatico-colonic fistula after acute alcoholic pancreatitis associated with a protracted course of disease and pancreatic abscess. We report this case with the review of the literature.

Antibodies are powerful and versatile tools to play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. Their application has been enhanced significantly with the advanced recombinant DNA and heterologonous expression technologies, allowing to produce immunotherapeutic proteins with improved biofunctional properties. However, with currently available technologies, mammalian cell-based therapeutic antibody production, as an alternative for production in humans and animals, is often not plentiful for passive immunotherapeutics in treatment of many diseases. Recently, plant expression systems for therapeutic antibodies have become well-established. Thus, plants have been considered to provide an attractive alternative production system for therapeutic antibodies, as plants have several advantages such as the lack of human pathogens, and low cost of upstream production and flexible scale-up of highly valuable recombinant glycoproteins. Recent advances in modification of posttranslational processing for human-like glycosylation in transgenic plants will make it possible that plant can become a suitable protein expression system over the animal cellbased current production system. This review will discuss recent advances in plant expression technology and issues for their application to therapeutic antibody production.

김영관,박성진,김용평,Kim, Young-Kwan,Park, Sung-Jin,Kim, Yong-Pyung 한국광학회 2005 한국광학회지 Vol.16 No.6

We fabricated and characterized a compact endoscopic catheter for optical coherence tomography. The optical delay line (ODL), composed of a cylindrical piezoelectric transducer (PZT) and an optical fiber, was operated with a 1 kHz sinusoidal driving wave in the time-domain. When the ODL was driven with a sinusoidal wave function, the axial scanning speed was 6 m/s and the axial acquisition rate was 2000 line/s at a depth of about 3 mm. Endoscopic OCT images of a human finger and earhole were successfully obtained with an image rate of ten frames per second.

We fabricated and characterized an optical delay line for optical coherence tomography (OCT). The delay line was composed of a cylindrical piezoelectric transduce (PZT) and a single mode optical fiber. The OCT system used a duplex scanning optical delay line which was symmetrically driven in the reference and sample arms. We showed that the sinusoidal-wave was superior to a triangular-wave for driving the optical delay line for scanning depth and repeatability.

Background/Aims: A multitude of factors are responsible for the pathogenesis of NSAID (nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug)-induced gastropathy. Gastritis by Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) and NSAID-induced gastropathy have several characteristics in common. H. pylori might therefore be a risk factor of NSAID-induced gastropathy. The aim of this study is to determine whether H. pylori infection influences the severity of acute NSAID-induced gastropathy. Methods: We evaluated the severity of acute mucosal injury and H. pylori status in 24 patients who had received naproxen(825 mg/day, P.O.) and ranitidine(300 mg/day, P.O.) for 14 days. NSAID-induced gastropathy was endoscopically graded separately for hemorrhages and erosions-ulcers on a scale of 0 to 4. H. pylori infection was identified by CLO test(Delta West Limited). Results: Fifteen of the 24 patients(63%) were H. pylori pisitive. There was a statistically significant difference in the severity of gastric mucosal injury between patients with and without H. pylori infection. Conclusion: The presence of H. pylori does influence the gastric mucosal injury associated with the acute administration of naproxen. (Korean J Gastroenterol 1995;27:292-299)

Juryu-seong Fortress (周留城) is the largest base of Baekje Restoration Military (百濟復興軍) and was also recorded as Duryangyun-seong Fortress (豆良尹城). Today, it corresponds to Wigeumam-sanseong Fortress (位金岩山城), located in the Byeonsan (邊山) area of Buan-gun (扶安郡), Jeollabuk-do. This is the western part of the Central region (中方), where there was little direct battle with the Silla and Tang Allied Forces (羅唐聯合軍) at the time of the fall of Baekje. Therefore, the standing soldiers of the Central region and its counties were maintained without any damage. In addition, it was a place with a well-equipped defense system because the fortress was already located in the important area around the Central region of Gobu (古阜). Liquority was chosen as the safest and most durable fortress in the Central region at the start of the Restoration War. At first, he built wooden fences to defend himself, but gradually built a large-scale stone castle to strengthen his defense. However, it could not be passed down to future generations because it was abandoned after the Restoration War failed. This is why it was eventually called Wigeumam-sanseong Fortress. The main force of the Restoration Military was the people of Baekje. Some of the Japanese forces (倭軍) and Tamna forces (耽羅軍) were included in this. The main forces of the Japanese and Tamna forces were Navy. The Restoration Military was difficult to manage its own navy because Baekje's navy were almost wiped out by the invasion of the Silla and Tang Allied Forces in July 660. So, it asked the Japanese to send its Navy. It was expected that the arrival of the Japanese Navy would strengthen the naval power, but the weakness of the Japanese Navy was revealed in the battle at the mouth of the Baek-gang River (白江), and they were eventually defeated.

Followings are the reasons that caused a failure of the Baekje Restoration Movement. First was the internal trouble in the restoration leading parties. When the Buyeopung, the prince of the Baekje, returned the home country from Japan in September of 661, the Baekje refugees accepted his crown. However, not long after his arrival, there showed inner fractions in the political groups such as Boksin's assassination of Dochim. After Dochim was killed, the King Pung and Boksin confronted for the leadership of the restoration movement. In June 663, King Pung ordered a death sentence to Boksin. Now, King Pung was the primary leader; however, there still were few people who refused to join King Pung such as Satasangyeo and Heukchisangji. They surrendered to Tang Dynasty. The second was the failure of Japan's support for Baekje restoration movement. As for Koguryo, it showed series of activities to support Baekje's restoration. For example, Koguryo attacked Chiljung castle of Silla in November 660 and also attacked Sulcheon castle and Bukhan mountain fortress wall with Malkal army, as an ally, in May 661. However, it was hard for Koguryo to support Baekje restoration movement when Koguryo had to fight against Tang Dynasty. Koguryo could directly be involved in military support for once when Tang Dynasty briefly stopped invading Koguryo in 663. However, this force was defeated on its way to Baekje territory by the Tang army. Japan sent out troops to Baekje; however, Japan's forces were seriously defeated at Book river combat in August 663 due to its lack of combat skills. Japanese forces were inferior and never could win over the highly trained and selected members of Silla- Tang forces. Third was the lack of economic basis. Baekje Restoration army could fluently supply food and other artilleries based on the farming ability in its territory. Japan also provided artilleries and food. This was the origin of power that Baekje Restoration army. With this, Baekje army could show superior power than Silla- Tang forces. This was what made then to be able to resist and to fight for a long time. However, in Feb of 663, Silla took over major castles that managed the breadbasket of the southern Korean peninsula. Silla forces occupied Keoyeol castle, Keomul Castle and Sapyoung castles. For this, Baekje Restoration army lost its basis for food supply. When Silla captured the Deokan castle, the most important castle that could control the Non-san field, Baekje Restoration army had serious difficulties in food and artillery supply. Deokan castle was important for its location measure. For this, the Silla- Tang forces could defeat the Baekje Restoration army.
