Cinnamomum cassia (Lauraceae) has long beenused as one of the most frequently used traditional orientalmedicines for the treatment of gastritis, diabetes, bloodcirculation disturbance and inflammatory diseases. Cinnamomulactone(1), a new butyrolactone was isolated fromthe twigs of C. cassia together with nine known compounds,coumarin (2), trans-cinnamic acid (3), cinnamaldehyde (4),2-hydroxycinnamaldehyde (5), 2-methoxycinnamaldehyde(6), 2-hydroxy-cinnamyl alcohol (7), benzoic acid (8),(?)-syringaresinol (9) and phenethyl (E)-3-[4-methoxyphenyl]-2-propenoate (10). The planar structure of 1 waselucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data analysis and itsconfigurations were determined by coupling constant (3JHH)analysis and a comparison with specific rotation data ofrelated compounds on the literatures. The structures ofknown compounds were confirmed by the comparison oftheir spectroscopic data to the reported values. Compound10 was isolated for the first time from this plant. Compounds1, 2, 4, and 9 showed inhibitory activity againstmatrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) gene expression. Among them, compound 1 has been revealed to suppressthe gene expression of MMP-3 and interleukin (IL)-1b aswell as MMP-1 in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a stimulatedrheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts.

본 연구는 건강노령화의 정의, 속성, 선행요인, 영향요인, 결과, 의의 및 측정도구에 대해 상세히 분석함으로써 향후 건강노령화의 이론적 연구결과를 간호실천에 응용하는 등 프로그램 개발에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있도록 하기 위함이다. Rodgers의 진화론적 방법을 이용하였고 자료수집은 CNKI, WANFANG DATA, PubMed및Web of Science등 4개 국내외 데이터베이스를 통해 검색되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 건강노령화는 전 생명주기와 연관이 있으며, 다양한 분야의 협력이 필요하고 개인, 가족, 사회 등 삼요소가 평형을 이루는 상태이다. 건강노령화 개념분석결과는 노령화에 대한 이론연구와 건강노령화 실행에 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있다고 사료된다. This study undertook a detailed analysis of the definition, attributes, preconditions, influencing factors, results, significance, and measurement tools of healthy aging for their eventual application as basic data for program development, such as applying the theoretical research results of healthy aging to nursing practice. Using Rodgers evolutionary method, data was procured from four domestic and international databases: CNKI, WANFANG DATA, PubMed, and Web of Science. The results show healthy aging is related to the entire life cycle, with various fields being intricately associated. Moreover, the three factors of individual, family, and society are in equilibrium. Results of this study indicate that the conceptual analysis of healthy aging helps in the in-depth study of aging and provides practical help in the implementation of healthy aging, starting with the concept.

Various kinds of orthodontic appliances have been developed for ideal tooth movement during orthodontic treatment. The orthodontic appliances made of metals are bands, arch wires, brackets and miniscrews as orthodontic anchorage. Generally, these appliances are made of stainless steel, pure titanium, Ni-Ti and TMA with the proper biocompatibility. However, localized corrosion of these materials can frequently occur in the particular environment. Super stainless steels, recently developed, have good corrosion resistance to reduce metal ion release induced by many kinds of corrosion. Recently, it has been reported that nickel ion release from orthodontic appliances affect the prevalence of nickel sensitization; however, there has been some controversy about nickel hypersensitivity to orthodontic appliances containing nickel. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the microhardness, nickel ion release, corrosion resistance and cytotoxicity of 4 types of super stainless steels and 316L stainless steel as the control group according to nickel contents, and to determine the acceptability as the new material for various kinds of orthodontic appliances. All super stainless steels showed higher microhardness than 316L stainless steel, SR-3Mo showed especially the highest microhardness. In anodic polarization test, corrosion resistance was high in order of SR-50A, SFSS, SR-6DX, 316L stainless steel, SR-3Mo. There was no increase in nickel ion release from SR-50A, SR-6DX, 316L stainless steel with immersion time in artificial saliva; whereas there was some increase from SFSS and SR-3Mo with immersion time. All super stainless steels showed very low cytotoxicity regardless of nickel contents although SR-3Mo showed relatively higher cytotoxicity than the others. It is concluded that SR-50A among super stainless steels has the highest corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. It is undesirable to consider the alloys with high nickel content to release lots of nickel ion.
A Novel Bromoindole Alkaloid from a Korean Colonial Tunicate Didemnum sp.

Chemical investigation on a colonial marine tunicate, Didemnum sp. led to the isolation of a series of indole alkaloids including a new (1) and two known metabolites (2-3). Based on the spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR along with MS spectra, the structure of 1 (16-epi-18-acetyl herdmanine D) was elucidated as a new amino acid derivative. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by comparison of specific rotation with the known compound. The structures of compounds 2 and 3 were also identified as bromoindole containing compounds N-(6-bromo-1H-indole-3-carbonyl)-l-arginine and (6-bromo-1H-indol-3-yl) oxoacetamide, respectively, based on 1H and 13C NMR data, MS data and specific rotation value. Their pharmacological potentials as antibacterial agents and FXR antagonists were investigated, but no significant activity was found. However, the structural similarity of compound 1 to compound 4 suggested the anti-inflammatory potential of compound 1.
경북산 현삼과 중국산 현삼의 비교: Harpagoside 함량 및 Nitric Oxide 저해활성

Scrophulariae Radix (Scrophulariaceae) has been traditionally used to treat pharyngitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis, fever,and edema. To compare the quality of the Scrophulariae Radix produced from Gyeongbuk with that from China, a quantitative analysis on the major component, E-harpagoside, was performed by reversed-phase HPLC, and a relative inhibitory activity of nitric oxide (NO) was assayed in the Raw 264.7 cells. Using a Luna C18(2) column, we carried out quantitative analysis with a gradient of 0.1% phosphoric acid in water and acetonitrile. Our results demonstrated that the content of E-harpagoside in Gyeongbuk's Scrophulariae Radix were three times higher than that of Chinese. Moreover, the inhibitory activity of Scrophulariae Radix of Gyeongbuk's in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NO production was higher than that of Chinese.
