비주얼 메타포를 활용한 정보 시각화 연구 - 나이젤 홈즈의 인포그래픽을 중심으로 -

본 연구는 정보 시각화의 다양한 접근법에 대한 고 찰을 토대로 정보 시각화에서 비주얼 메타포의 활용 을 살펴봄으로써 그에 따른 정보 전달의 효율성을 논 하고 정보 시각화의 표현방법에 대한 확장을 도모하 는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 정보 시각화에 대한 전반적인 이론적 체계를 갖추었고, 서술적 접근 법을 근거로 비주얼 메타포의 활용에 관한 구체적인 사례 분석을 위해, 영국의 그래픽 디자이너 나이젤 홈즈의 이미지형 인포그래픽으로 분석대상을 한정하 여 정보 시각화 체계와 표현적 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과를 정리하면, 정보 시각화에서 시각적 연상 을 통해 커뮤니케이션을 하는 비주얼 메타포의 활용 은 드러내는 것과 내재되어 있는 것이 다르지만, 공 통적 이해관계 속에서 새로운 의미로 이어져 창의성 을 발현시킴을 파악할 수 있었다. 이러한 효과적인 결과를 도출해 내기 위해서는, 탄탄한 정보 콘텐츠의 구조와 스토리텔링을 근거로 정보 콘텐츠의 의미와 핵심 메시지를 풍부하게 전달함으로써 콘텐츠의 본질 과 진의를 드러내 주어 정보 수용자로 하여금 적극적 으로 정보를 해석하고 탐색할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 또한 비주얼 메타포를 단순히 유머와 재미를 위한 장 치로만 활용하기보다는 정보 콘텐츠에 적합한 시각적 메커니즘과 맥락적 특성을 반영한 정보 해석의 사고 력이 어떻게 연계되고 상응되는지를 고려한다면 더욱 효율적인 정보 시각화로의 접근이 가능할 것이다. The object of this study is to examine the use of visual metaphors in information visualization based upon various approach methods of information visualization and to understand the effectiveness of information delivery. In addition, it focused on expanding the expression method of information visualization through the use of visual metaphors in information visualization. This study examined the overall theoretical system on information visualization. For the case analysis of the use of visual metaphors, the subject of analysis was limited to the static infographics designed by Nigel Holmes, who is a British graphic designer focused on information design, and the information visualization system and the characteristics of expression were analyzed. As a result of this study, although what is revealed and what is implicated differ in the use of visual metaphors that communicate through visual association in information visualization, the use of visual metaphors led to new meanings in a common interest, leading to creativity. To derive such an effective result, it is necessary to reveal the essence and truth of the contents by richly delivering the meaning and core message of the information contents based on the solid structure and storytelling of the information contents so that users can actively interpret and explore information. Moreover, if we consider how visual metaphors relate to the visual mechanism suitable for information content and the thinking ability of information interpretation that reflects contextual characteristics rather than using only as a device for humor and fun, it can lead to more efficient information visualization.

임상실습 중 의과대학생의 기초의학 관련 요구도 조사: '기본의학교육 학습성과: 과학적 개념과 원리중심'

This study aimed to identify curriculum gaps and a pilot study to provide the programs for selection during clerkship. Over the course of a clerkship, students analyze the current level and the needs level of TLO (terminal learning objectives) based on the book "Learning outcome of basic medical education: Scientific concept and principle-centered." We conducted a needs assessment utilizing a t-test, Borich Needs Assessment, and the Locus for Focus model. In the investigation of the needs level, the levels of the musculoskeletal and respiratory systems were relatively high and in the investigation of the current level, the levels of the digestive and musculoskeletal systems were relatively high. This study is expected to contribute to reasonable decision-making by utilizing various methods of analysis and providing in-depth results of needs analysis in designing clerkship curriculum.

A Paulownia coreana Box for Storage of Annals of Joseon Dynasty: Its Efficacy and Functionality Evaluations of Temperature and Relative Humidity Control, and Microbe and Insect Repellent Activity

Paulownia coreana has various advantages as a convenient workability, aesthetic outlook, beautiful patterns, low weight and high strength, and its permeability. P. coreana has been widely used for storage but there are no empirical researches proving its functionality in a field of conservation science until now. In this study, the seasonal and daily temperature and relative humidity control, and microbe and insect repellent activity were evaluated under the controlled and uncontrolled circumstances from 2015 to 2016. The results showed to be mainly excellent in relative humidity control and the buffering effect was good to adjust the average daily relative humidity range from the outside. With respect to the antimicrobial properties of P. coreana, we observed that its water-soluble extract produced visible zones of inhibition against five bacteria. However, it was difficult to predict the antimicrobial and/or insecticidal properties.

Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis(AGEP) has symptoms of abrupt onset of a widespread pustular eruption on an erythematous. base. Most cases appear to be related to drug reactions, mainly antibiotics, but viral infections and hypersensitivity to mercury may cause AGEP. The essential features of AGEP include. (1) numerous(several dazen) small((5mm), mostly non follicular pustules arising on a widespread erythema:purpura and target-like lesions may be associated; (2) histology showing intraepidermal or subcorneal pustules associated with one or more of the following.clermal edema, vasculitis, perivascular eosinophils, or focal necrosis of keratinocytes; (3) fever (over 38C); (4) neutrophilia, and (5) acute evolution with spontaneous resulotion of pustules within 15 days. We report a case of AGEP which presented with widespread tiny pustules on the whole body except the face, palms and soles. There were petechia, purpura, and vesiculobullous lesions on the axilla, popliteal fossa and upper abdomen. A biopsy specimen from a pustule showed subcorneal pustules with perivascular polymorphous cellular infiltration, marked dermal edema and necrotic keratinocytes. There was complete resolution of the lesions within 10 days. (Kor J Dermatol 1997;35(l): 160-164)

An Assessment of the Deterioration of Fabricated Metal Thread with Light, and Temperature and Humidity Factors: A Focused Study of Asian Textile Collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

To investigate the deterioration of textiles with metal thread, I surveyed 40 textile objects, dating from the11th to the 19th century from Korea, China, Japan, and Central Asia at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Thissurvey included various types, widths, and thicknesses of metal thread. In addition, deterioration was examined underthe microscope and color information was collected using the spectrophotometer. While investigating metal thread inthe collections, I fabricated 12 different types of metal samples with metal leaf(24K gold, silver, and copper leaf), adhesive(hide animal glue and a mixture of hide animal glue and iron oxide red), and paper substrate(Korean mulberry and Taiwanesekozo paper). The accelerated deterioration process of those fabricated samples was carried out using a light box(UV anddaylight), and a humidity cabinet. In the light experiment with blue scales textile fading card(aka, blue wool standard),the metal leaf began to peel off during the deterioration process with 756,000 lux-hours UV and daylight. In the temperatureand humidity experiment, I could observe the reddish tarnish on copper, and some part of it began to peel off. Color readingon the light exposed samples showed that the degree of color change on the surface follows the amount of exposure asit increased over time. On the other hand, color change on the samples after artificial deterioration using temperature andhumidity factors showed random change of color with occasional spikes. Distortion of original shape worsened in thesamples exposed to temperature and humidity.

울산 출토 고려시대 칠사관모의 보존처리 및 재질분석

울산시 북산동 출토 고려시대 칠사관모(漆紗冠帽)는 복식사적으로 상당히 귀한 유물로 고려시대 당시의 관모형태를 알 수 있어 역사적·문화적·사회적·예술적으로 사료적 가치가 큰 귀중한 자료라고 할 수 있다. 또한 본 유물은 상대적으로 유물이 부족한 고려시대의 실증적 정보를 제공하는 자료로 발굴 작업에 의한 출토품이라는 점에 의의가 있다. 본 연구에서는 오랜 시간동안 다양한 환경요인에 의해 영향을 받아온 유물의 보존처리를 통해 본래의 상태로 회복시키고 원형을 보존하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 실존유물이 상대적으로 부족한 고려시대 관모의 원형을 보존할 수 있었으며, 재질 및 구조분석을 통해 섬세한 사(紗)조직의 표면조직과 죽사(竹絲)로 제작된 바탕조직을 확인할 수 있었다.

서울지역 미 북장로회선교부의 교육사업 철수와 학교 인계 연구 - 경신학교와 정신여학교를 중심으로 -

In 1930s, the Japanese imperialism coerced Christian schools to conduct Shinto shrine worship, an issue that led to the withdrawal of educational ministry of missionaries. In 1936 the Annual Meeting of the Northern Presbyterian Church U.S.A. decided to withdraw its educational ministry. Korean kept asking for transferring Kyungsin School and Jungsin Girl’s School in Seoul from the Northern Presbyterian Church U.S.A. The reinforcement of Korean founders for Kyungsin School was permitted by the Japanese Government General of Korea, and Kim Family of Anak took over the school by paying a honorarium to the Northern Presbyterian Church U.S.A. As for Jungsin Girl’s School, suggestions of Lee Jong Man, an important candidate who took it over, continued to be rejected in several discussions with the Board of Foreign Mission in the US. Finally efforts for transferring Jungsin Girl’s School failed, it was absorbed into the Pung Moon Foundation as missionaries were forcedly repatriated. During the transfer of schools according to the withdrawal of educational ministry of the Northern Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Seoul, missionaries such as Koons and Horace H. Underwood who were in the educational field agreed that schools should be transferred to Koreans. In this context, the Koreans in the school boards of directors, the alumni associations, and Kyungsung Presbytery had hope of taking over the schools, making efforts to prepare measures. Koreans played a leading role in order to prevent closing Kyungsin School and Jungsin Girl’s School. 1930년대 들어 일제는 기독교계 학교에까지 신사참배를 강요하였다. 그 논리는 교육과 종교는 다르며, 신사참배는 국가적 의식이지 종교적 의식이 아니므로 국가의식에 반드시 참여해야 한다는 것이었다. 이는 기독교계 학교들을 일제에 순응하는 학교로 만들기 위한 것이었다. 미북장로회선교부는 서울, 평양, 대구, 선천의 네 선교지부에서 8개의 남녀 중등학교를 경영하였다. 1936년 북장로회선교부 회의에서 교육철수가 결의된 이후, 한국인들은 각 지역의 학교들을 인계해 달라고 청원하였다. 특히 서울의 경신학교와 정신여학교에 대해 학교 이사회, 동문회, 경성노회 등 각 단체에서 서울선교지부와 선교부 실행위원회 및 해외선교부에 끊임없이 인계 요청을 하였다. 경신학교에서는 안악 김씨 문중과 협의하여 5개년 대차안 상정한 것이 부결되자, 「경신학교 이사회규칙」을 내세워 학교의 경영권을 방어하고자 하였다. 결국 한국인 설립자를 충원하는 문제가 조선총독부에서 허가됨으로써 학교 인계 문제가 힘을 얻었고 김씨 문중이 북장로회선교부에 사례금을 주고 경신학교를 인계하게 되었다. 정신여학교는 경성노회와 동창회가 협력하여 학교를 인수하기로 하였으나 어렵게 되었고, 이종만이 가장 유력한 인계 후보자였는데 해외선교부와의 수 차례 논의 과정에서 이종만측의 제안이 계속 거부당했다. 정신여학교에 대한 여러 번의 인계 노력은 실패하였고, 선교사들이 강제 추방당하게 되면서 학교는 적산(敵産)으로 인수되어 풍문재단으로 흡수되었다. 서울지역 북장로회선교부 교육사업 철수에 따른 학교 인계 과정에서 쿤스, 언더우드 등 교육 현장에 있었던 선교사들은 한국인에게 학교를 인계하는 것에 찬성하는 입장이었다. 그에 따라 학교 이사회, 동문회, 경성노회 등 한국인들은 학교 인계에 대한 희망을 갖고 대책 마련을 위해 애썼다. 경신학교와 정신여학교의 폐교를 막기 위해 한국인들은 주도적인 활동을 했다.
