Viability variation of the second chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster has been measured from a natural population at Anyang near Seoul. The frequency of drastics (lethal plus semilethal) was about 23 percent. The average viability of all homozygotes was 0.716±0.016, of quasinormals 0.904±0.009, and of random heterozygotes 1.058±0.007. The effective size of the population was estimated at 3,100 by using the rate of allelism (0.021=65/3094). This paper describes a case of stable gene frequency in the past 14 years. The relation of these results to the population size of D. melanogaster was discussed.

Serial verb constructions (SVC) contain more than two verbs in the same clause. Korean SVCs that particularly express motion events show a distributional regularity. Within SVC, manner verbs precede path verbs, and only rarely can path verbs appear before manner verbs. The present study examined whether 5-year-old Korean learners can detect this regularity and utilize such cues in inferring the verb meanings of SVC. In a dialogue, participants first heard a novel verb either appearing in the manner position or the path position, and then were presented with an event that showed a novel manner and a novel path event combined. Then, the manner and path events appeared separately, and participants were asked to choose the meaning of the novel verb between the two events while their eye-gazes were recorded. Pointing and eye-gaze responses showed some sensitivity to verb's positional regularity within SVC and it's related meaning. 한국어 복합 동사 중 동작을 표현하는 동작 동사들은 동작의 방식(예, 뛰다) 다음에 동작의 경로를(예, 넘다) 기술하는 방식 동사-경로 동사 의미 분포의 배열 규칙성을 보인다. 본 연구는 두 개의 동사가 복합된 구조를 이루고 있고 주어와 목적어 등을 공유하여 각 동사에 대한 의미를 추출하기 어려운 복합 동사의 의미 습득에 이러한 배열 분포 규칙성이 활용될 수 있는지 검토하였다. 성인과 5세의 아동들에게 새로운 동사(예, 무삐다)를 복합 동사의 방식 동사의 위치나 경로 동사의 위치에 제시하고 주어진 두 개의 새로운 방식 동작과 경로 동작 중에서 새로운 동사의 의미에 해당되는 것을 고르도록 하여 동사의 순서적 위치에 따라 동사의 의미를 다르게 추출해 낼 수 있는 지를 살펴보았다. 선택 반응에서 성인과 아동 모두 방식 동사 위치에 제시된 경우의 수행이 경로 동사 위치에 제시되었을 때보다 높았다. 아동들은 선택 반응과 함께 응시 반응도 측정하였는데, 응시 반응 결과는 아동들이 동작의 유형과 동사 위치에 따라 다른 반응 경향을 보여 아동들이 적어도 암묵적으로 복합 동사의 배열 정보를 동사 의미 습득에 활용할 수 있음을 시사하였다.

개별적인 부서나 기업의 자율성을 최대로 살리고, 동시에 전체 설계 성능의 향상에 기여하기 위해 다분야 통합 최적설계(MDO)를 웹기반 분산환경 시스템으로 확대 적용하여 지역적 한계를 극복하고 부서간 또는 기업간 협력을 증대하기 위한 방법론을 제시하고, 또한 설계 및 생산과정에서의 효율적인 분산 엔지니어링 환경 구축을 위해 MDO와 설계/모델링, 해석을 위한 정보를 상호 공유, 교환 할 수 있는 웹기반 통합 설계 시스템 을 구현하였다. MDO is one of the efficient methods for huge and multi-functional system design. This paper describes a design collaboration framework with MDO in networked design environment. A prototype of web-based integrated design system was implemented to show sharing and exchange of models and analysis information between MDO modules and collaborative design stations. Server System consists of MDO modules for optimization and modeling module for 3D modeling operation. Client system provide user with graphic interlace for shape modeling and system operation. We believe that the proposed approach can be extended to solve real complex multidisciplinary design problems.

Trends on Temperature and Precipitation Extreme Events in Korea

기상과 관련된 재해의 직접 원인이 되는 극한 기후 사상의 발생 빈도 및 강도의 변화 경향을 파악하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 일최저기온, 일최고기온, 일강수량 자료를 이용하여, 10개 기후 변화 지시자를 산출하였고, 그 변화 경향의 공간 분포를 파악하였다. 일최저기온을 이용하여 산출된 온난야의 발생 빈도는 한반도에서 증가하는 추세를 나타냈고, 최저기온의 증가로 인하여 서리일수는 감소하고 생장기간은 증가하였다. 매해의 일최저기온과 일최고기온의 차로 산출되는 연극한기온교차는 최고기온은 변화하지 않았지만, 최저기온의 증가로 인하여 감소하고 있다. 강수와 관련된 지시자들은 기온 관련 지시자에 비하여 변화 경향이 뚜렷하지 않지만, 무강수일수의 한반도 시계열은 감소하는 경향이 나타났고, 호우지수로 분류될 수 있는 강수강도는 증가하고 있다. The aim of this study is to clarify whether frequency and/or severity of extreme climate events have changed significantly in Korea during recent years. Using the best available daily data, spatial and temporal aspects of ten climate change indicators are investigated on an annual and seasonal basis for the periods of 1954-1999. A systematic increase in the 90th percentile of daily minimum temperatures at most of the analyzed areas has been observed. This increase is accompanied by a similar reduction in the number of frost days and a significant lengthening of the thermal growing season. Although the intra-annual extreme temperature range is based on only two observations, it provides a very robust and significant measure of declining extreme temperature variability. The five precipitation-related indicators show no distinct changing patterns for spatial and temporal distribution except for the regional series of maximum consecutive dry days. Interestingly, the regional series of consecutive dry days have increased significantly while the daily rainfall intensity index and the fraction of annual total precipitation due to events exceeding the 95th percentile for 1961-1990 normals have insignificantly increased.

현재 풍력발전 기술은 전 세계에서 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있는 기술로서 2010년도에 세계 보급량은 200GW를 넘을 것으로 추정되고 있다. 이에 우리나라도 풍력발전 기술 집약에 전력하고 있지만 풍력단지에 대한 운영 경험은 매우 제한적이며, 연계 기준 수립에 대한 기초가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 한국계통의 특성을 고려한 연계 기준 및 최적 운영 방안 수립을 위한 다양한 국가에서 적용하고 있는 풍력 발전 단지에 대한 연계 및 운영 기준에 대한 검토가 필요한 실정이며 세계 각국에서 적용되고 있는 풍력 발전기의 계통 연계 기준을 분석 및 검토하였다.
