        재래종 콩 유전자원의 주요 형태적 특성과 변이

        본 실험은 한국, 중국 및 일본 재래종 콩 유전자 자원의 주요형질 변이를 조사하고 이들 자원간의 지리적 유연관계를 비교하고자 수행하였으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 경장은 한국(66㎝)이나 일본자원(54.9㎝)보다 중국자원(71㎝)에서 더 컸으며, 또한 변이도 중국자원에서 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 2. 개화일수 및 생육일수는 한국자원(65.5일, 151.4일)이 가장 길었으며 중국(57일, 120일)과 일본자원(59.9일, 122.4일)은 같은 경향을 나타냈다. 또한 한국과 중국자원은 지역에 따른 차이를 나타냈으나 일본자원에서는 확인할 수 없었다. 3. 백립중은 한국(18.8g), 일본(17.2g) 및 중국(14.7g) 순으로 무거웠다. 특히 한국자원은 9~11g과 23~25g에서 정점을 나타냈고, 변이폭도 가장 컸다. 반면 일본과 중국자원은 13~17g사이에서 정점을 나타냈다. 4. 협수는 중국(46.9개)이나 일본자원(36.5개)보다 한국자원(75.5개)에서 가장 많았으며, 변이폭도 한국자원에서 가장 컸다. 내도복성은 일본자원에서 가장 강하였다. 5. 정준판별분석결과 can 1을 경계로 하여 오른쪽 상하에 한국재래종이 주로 분포하였고 왼쪽에는 중국과 일본 재래종이 주로 분포하여 각 나라별로 고유한 영역을 가지고 분리되었다. 전체적 경향이 중국과 일본자원이 한국자원보다 가까운 경향을 나타냈다. This experiment was carried out to compare the characters of 944 Korean soybean landraces, 716 Chinese, and 170 Japanese soybean landraces introduced from USDA soybean germplasm collection. Cannonical discriminant and cluster analyses were conducted by their origins. The population from China was taller in plant height than those from Korea and Japan, also its variation was largest in Chinese population. The population from Korea was langer than those from China and Japan in terms of days to flowering and maturity. Also, Korean and Chinese accessions appeared the difference of those traits according to latitude. One hundred seeds weight was in the order of Korean(18.8g), Japanese(17.2g) and Chinese populations(14.7g), especially Korean population was distinguished into two groups; the group including accessions between 10 and 15g, and the other group including accessions between 20 and 25g. However, others showed the peak in range of 13~17g. The number of pod per plant was more in Korean accession(75.5) with the largest variation than Chinese(46.9) and Japanese accession(36.5). The distribution of Korean, Chinese and Japanese accessions reflected the origin of accessions analyzed by cannonical discriminant analysis. The relationship between their geographical origins showed the population of China and Japan are losely related.

      • 관상절개법을 이용한 안면골 골절의 임상적 치험례

        The coronal approach is useful technique in the correction of fractures accurately above the Le fort I level. This is a retrospective clinical study on usage of coronal approach in the treatment of various facial bone fractures. Fifty four patients were seen between March, 1990 and September, 1993. There were 4lcases with zygomatic complex fractures, 9 cases with Le fort II or III fractures, 3 cases of frontal sinus fractures and 1 case with orbital roof fracture. This study shows that this technique provides full exposure of fracture site, allowing to accurate anatomical reduction and rigid fixation and good cosmetic result in incision site, so excellent cosmetic and funtional result.

        Lymphangiomas are divided into three categories; (1) simple (capillary) lymphangioma, (2) cavernous lymphangioma, and (3) cystic hygroma. This lesion usually occurs in the posterior triangle of the neck but can be present in the axilla, mediastinum, or groin. Recently, we have experienced two cases of cavernous lymphangioma that one occurred in the mediastinum and the other was in the right chest wall, which were surgically removed successfully and confirmed histopathologically.

        우리 나라 재해 의료의 문제점 : 수원시 재해 대응 훈련의 평가를 통하여 본 ANALYSIS OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE IN THE MOCK DISASTER IN SUWON

        Natural or man-made disasters are serious enough to paralyse the functions of the nation or regional distinct and affect the property and lives of numerous citizens. The first two hours after occurrence of the disaster are critical for determining death or permanent disabilities of the casualties. The current Disaster Medical Service(DMS) System in our country adopts mainly civil defense model which focuses the cause of the accident, compensation of the victims, or reconstruction. So in the initial phase of disaster, the appropriate rescue and emergency treatment is not provided effectively. In order to assess and reorganize the current status of DMS System in Korea, the Department of Emergency Medicine, Ajou University School of Medicine, planned and conducted an emergency response exercise in Suwon city on April 28, 1995. The exercise, which took place near the Kyunggido Culture and Art Center, coordinated the efforts of the Suwon Fire Department and other related agencies. As well as providing training on emergency response, the exercise was valuable for identifying areas of weakness which will be address in the future.

        낙상으로 인한 좌심실 파열 후 생존한 환자 1례

        Blunt or nonpenetrating chest injuries are common after motor vehicle accidents or falls. Blunt injury to the heart ranges from contusion to rupture. Cardiac rupture, however, is un-common and associated with a very high mortality rate ; left ventricular rupture due to falling is even more rare. We experienced a case of left ventricular rupture of the heart caused by a fall, which the patient survived. A 63-year-old man fell off a ladder and presented with hypotension from left hemothorax and pericardial tamponade. The hemothorax was relieved via an emergency closed thoracostomy but dyspnea and hypotension continued. And so, echocardio-graphy was done and pericardial tamponade was detected. Emergency left thoracotomy was done to repair the rupture site. We believe that patients with cardiac rupture who reach the hospital alive can often be saved by prompt diagnosis and immediate surgical treatment.

        Corrosion Behavior of Ni-Base Alloys in a Hot Lithium Molten Salt under an Oxidizing Atmosphere

        The electrolytic reduction of a spent oxide fuel involves the liberation of the oxygen in molten LiCl electrolyte, which is a chemically aggressive environment that is excessively corrosive for typical structural materials. Accordingly, it is essential to choose the optimum material for the processing equipment that handles the molten salt. In this study, the corrosion behaviors of Haynes 263, Haynes 75, Inconel 718 and Inconel X-750 in a molten LiCl-Li2O salt under an oxidizing atmosphere were investigated at 650 ℃ for 72 to 216 hrs. The Haynes 263 alloy showed the best corrosion resistance among the examined alloys. The corrosion products of Haynes 263 were Li(Ni,Co)O2 and LiTiO2; those of Haynes 75 were Cr2O3, NiFe2O4, LiNiO2 and Li2NiFe2O4; while Cr2O3, NiFe2O4 and CrNbO4 were identified as the corrosion products of Inconel 718. Inconel X-750 produced Cr2O3, NiFe2O4 and (Cr,Nb,Ti)O2 as its corrosion products. Haynes 263 showed a localized corrosion behavior while Haynes 75, Inconel 718 and Inconel X-750 showed a uniform corrosion behavior.

        Development of a novel imaging agent using peptide-coated gold nanoparticles toward brain glioma stem cell marker CD133

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>CD133 is known as biomarker for glioblastoma (GBM) and also serves as a marker for cancer stem cells (CSCs), which carry out tumorigenesis and resist conventional therapeutics. The presence of CD133-presenting CSC is a one of the factors in maintenance of the tumorigenic potential of GBM. Thus, CD133 is a potential target for accurate diagnosis of GBM, which could improve its poor prognosis for patients when CSCs are present.</P> <P>Herein we designed a small peptide-based imaging agent with stimulus-responsive properties. A novel small peptide, CBP4, was screened by a phage display technique, and demonstrated binding to the target CD133 (ECD) comparable to that of an antibody. As a quencher, we used gold nanoparticles (GNPs); the targeting peptide was conjugated to GNPs with high efficiency. By means of a quenching effect, the peptide-coated GNP showed ‘signal on–off’ properties depending upon the presence of the target. In addition, the particles exhibited biocompatibility when localized in the cytosol. Thus, this study demonstrated that the peptide-coated GNPs can be utilized as an imaging agent for accurate diagnosis of GBM, and further as a drug carrier for therapeutic approaches.</P> <P><B>Statement of Significance</B></P> <P>The diagnosis and determination of prognosis made by cancer stem cell markers could be a key strategy to eradicate cancer stem cells and cure the cancer. The significance of this study is the characterization of quenching-based signal on–off mechanism and showed that the active targeting via peptide can contribute to the design of a stimulus-responsive cellular imaging agent. Moreover, small peptide based nano complexation showed specific recognition of the target stem cell and internalized on cellular cyotosol with stimulus responsive fluorescence. With its novel biocompatibility, the strategy might be a promising tool for drug carrier systems able to measure and visualize the delivered efficiency at intracellular sites.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Enflurane 마취후 발생한 간염

        We have experienced acute hepatitis after general anesthesia. We guess that acute hepatitis is caused by enflurane anesthesia. We will report this case with references. A 34 year old pregnant woman suffered from preeclamsia. She admitted for emergence repeat cesarean-section due to labor pain. In this operation general anesthesia was performanced with enflurane. The preoperative liver enzyme were normal and other tests were within normal range. She developed high fever, marked elevation of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(SGOT)/serum glutamic pyrubic transaminase(SGPT)/ alkaline phosphatase(ALP)/total bilirunbin(T-B) on the 2nd postoperative day. She recovered gradually and discharged after 13 day's hospitalization. A possible cause of the acute hepatitis in this case were considered to be the enflurane.

        Effect of Dietary Selenium on the Colon Carcinogenesis in Male ICR Mice

        본 연구에서는 azoxymethane (AOM)과 dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)로 유도된 대장 발암과정에 대한 셀레늄의 방어 효과를 조사하였다. 셀레늄 결핍(0.02 ppm Se), 정상(0.1 ppm Se), 과다(0.5 ppm Se)사료를 12주간 식이로 급여하여 혈액검사와 대장암 발생의 초기단계인 aberrant crypt foci (ACF)수를 측정했으며, 암 발생율을 조사하였다. ICP-AES를 사용하여 간의 셀레늄 농도를 측정하였으며, 또한 셀레늄포함 항산화효소인 glutathione peroxidase (GPx) 활성을 알아보았다. 또한 TUNEL assay와 PCNA, $\beta$-catenin에 대한 면역조직 염색을 수행하였다. ACF 수 및 종양 발생률에 있어서, 셀레늄과다사료를 급여한 군이 정상셀레늄사료를 급여한 군보다 낮았으며, 셀레늄결핍사료를 급여한 군은 오히려 ACF 수 및 종양 발생률이 높았다. GPx 활성은 셀레늄의 섭취가 과다한 군에서 높게 나타났으며, 이 때, TUNEL에서 apoptotic positive cell이 증가하는 것을 확인했다. 또한 셀레늄의 섭취가 과다한 군에서 PCNA와 $\beta$-catenin의 발현이 감소됨을 볼 수 있었다. 본 마우스 모델실험에서 셀레늄은 여러 기전에 의해 대장암 발생을 억제할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Selenium is an essential micronutrient for normal body function and functions as an essential constituent of selenoproteins. This study was carried out to investigate effect of selenium on the formation of colonic aberrant crypt foci (ACF) and tumor formation in a mouse model. Five-week old ICR mice were acclimated for one week and fed different selenium diet (0.02, 0.1, and 0.5 ppm) for 12 weeks. Animals received three intraperitoneal injections of azoxymethane (10 mg/kg B.W. in saline for 3 weeks), followed by 2% dextran sodium sulfate in the drinking water for a week. There were four experimental groups, including a normal control group and three different selenium levels groups. After sacrifice, the total numbers of aberrant crypt (AC) and ACF were measured in the colonic mucosa after methylene blue staining. The number of tumors was noted for tumor incidence. Liver selenium concentration was measured using ICP-AES method. Gutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity was determined using a GPx assay kit in the liver and colon. TUNEL assay and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) staining were performed to examine the cell apoptosis and cell proliferation, respectively. Immunohistochemistry of $\beta$-catenin was also performed on the mucous membrane tissue of colon. The activity of GPx in the liver and colon was decreased in the selenium-deficient diet group while it was increased in the selenium-overloaded diet group. Apoptotic positive cells were increased in the selenium-overloaded diet group but decreased in the selenium-deficient diet group. PCNA staining area was decreased in the selenium-overloaded diet group. In addition, the $\beta$-catenin protein level in the selenium-deficient diet group was increased but decreased in the selenium-overloaded diet group. These results indicate that dietary selenium might exert a modulating effect on colon cancer by inhibiting the development of ACF and colon tumor formation in this mouse model.

      • 황견을 이용한 심장이식술 및 심장관류 용액의 심보존 효과 비교

        한국산 황견을 이용한 심장이식 수술을 11회 시행하여 수술 전후의 혈역학적인 변화를 관찰하고 수술 수기의 숙달 및 준비과정의 문제점을 파악하는데 도움이 되고자 하였다. 심장관류 용액의 심보존 효과를 비교 관찰하기 위하여 각기 다른 2 종류의 심장 정지액 주입으로 황견의 심장을 정지시킨 후 심장을 절제하여 0℃에서 24시간 보존하면서 좌심실 근육조직 절편을 채취하여 고속 액체 크로마토그라피를 이용한 방법으로 ATP, ADP, AMP를 측정하였다. University of Wisconsin(이하 UW) 용액은 상온 단순 심정지 방법으로, St. Thomas 용액은 인공 심폐기를 이용한 전신 저체온법을 함께 사용하였다. ATP 농도는 UW 용액에서 St. Thoms 용액보다 2, 4, 8, 12 시간대에서 높게 유지되었으며 ADP 농도도 역시 UW 용액이 4시간대 이후에 높은 수치를 보였다. AMP 농도는 두용액 사이에 의미있는 차이를 보이지 않았다. Eleven cases of orthotopic cardiac transplantations were performed using 33 mongrel dogs. The main causes of death were pulmonary edema and bleeding at anastomotic site. To compare the efficacy of cardiac preservation, purine metabolites(ATP, ADP, AMP) were examed during 24 hours of cold storage(0℃) of the mongrel dog hearts after using two different types of cardioplegic solutions. The hypothermic arrest with total cardiopulmonary bypass method was employed in St. Thomas solution preservation cases. Left ventricular myocardial specimens were obtained after 0.5, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 24 hours at 0℃, and stored at -75℃ deep freezer until analysis. Specimens were analyzed for levels of adenine nucleotides by high performance liquid chromatography. The ATP content in the UWS (University of Wisconsin solution) group tends to be higher than that of the combined hypothermic arrest STS(St. Thomas solution) group after 2, 4, 8, and 12 hours of preservation respectively. The ADP content in the UWS group was higher than that of the STS group at 4, 8, 12, and 24 hours. The AMP contents did not change significantly in the two groups. These results strongly suggests that although UW solution did not provide satisfactory long-term preservation of heart, UWS group is better than STS group with hypothermic arrest method.
