      • 補中益氣湯 투여가 장거리 달리기 선수의 에너지 및 전해질 대사에 미치는 영향 : changes in the energy and electrolyte metabolism among long distance runners

        스포츠 과학 분야에서는 운동 선수들의 경기력 향상과 운동 피로의 신속한 회복을 도모하기 위하여 한약을 복용하고 그 효과와 유의성에 대하여 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 격심한 운동을 수행할 때 나타나는 Glucose 등 에너지원의 고갈, Lactate 등 대사 산물의 축적, 전해질의 불균형 등의 여러 제반 증상이 氣虛로 인하여 나타나는 전신의 증후와 유사하다고 생각하여 補中益氣湯을 투여한 후 인체의 대사 변화를 관찰함으로서 운동수행능력에 미치는 영향과 유의성을 평가하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 장거리 달리기 선수를 대상으로 2주간의 補中益氣湯의 투여가 에너지 대사 및 전해질대사에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 최대심박수의 70% 강도의 운동을 실시한 후 운동전 안정시, 운동 직후, 휴식 후 10분, 휴식 후 30분, 휴식 후 1시간으로 나누어 혈액검사를 하였을 때 나타나는 각종 변인의 반응 양상을 비교 분석하여 유의한 결과를 얻었다. 혈중 에너지 대사에서는 free fatty acid와 Lactate 반응에서 유의성 있는 차이가 나타났고, 전해질대사에서도 Na^(+), Cl-와 K^(+) 반응에서 모누 유의성 있는 차이를 나타냈다. 그러므로 補中益氣湯은 에너지 및 전해질 대사에서 유의성있는 변화를 나타내었으며 운동수행능력의 향상에 유효하였다. Objective This experimental study was designed to investigate effects of Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang administration among long distance runners on changes of the energy and electrolyte metabolism. Materials and Methods All subjects were divided randomly with two groups, Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang Group (N=4) and control group (N=4) and performed to run the 400m track with 70% of HR max about 1 hour. The blood samples were collected from antecubital vein by 5㎖ syringes at before exercise, immediateIy after exercise, recovering- 10 min, recovering-30 min, recovering-1 hour. These sampie were used to analyze for the factors of the changes on metabolic responses. Firest, the primary factors on the changes of the energy metabolism were checked ; Glucose, Free fatty acid, Lactate, LDH. Second, the primary factors on the changes of the electroIyte metabolisrn were checked ; Na^(+), Cl^(-), K^(+). Results 1. The change of the energy metabolism 1) Glucose response was not shown significant difference between two groups. 2) Free fatty acid response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly increased at recover-10 min. 3) Lactate response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly decreased at immediately after exercise, recover-10 min, recover-30 min. 4) LDH response was not shown significant difference between two groups. 2. The change of the electrolyte metabolism 1) Na^(+) response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was shown significant difference between two groups at before exercise. 2) C^(-) response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly increased at before exercise, immediately after exercise. 3) K^(+) response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly increased at recover-10 min. Conclusion According to the above results, it was shown that Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang had the positive effects on changes of the energy and electrolyte metabolism for the long distance runners.

        하악 제3대구치가 하악 우각부골절 정복술후 감염에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        Any fracture passing through the socket of a teeth is compounded intraorally, even if the fracture is not displaced and the tooth is firm in its socket. Before the advent of antibiotic therapy the danger of infection in a compounded fracture posed severe problems in treatment. Infection is reduced by antibiotic therapy but prolonged use of antibiotics is not justified in an attempt to save a tooth which might eventually be sacrificed. There is still controversy in the management of third molar in mandibualr angle fracture, particularly in regard to their retention or removal at the time of fracture treatment. So we surveyed the 159 patients who were treated with open reduction of mandibular angle fracture containing third molar in fracture line, and compared with the postoperative infection rate depending on time intervals between injury and operation, eruption state of third molar, non-extraction or extraction of third molar related to eruption state, non-extraction or extraction of third molar related to condiition of third molar and its surrounding periodontium and were to propose treatment guidline of third molar in mandibular angle fracture The results obtained were as follows : 1.There were no statistical significance between the time from injury to operation and postoperative infection. 2.There were no statistical significance between eruption state of third molar and postoperative infection. 3.In case of retention of the third molar, there were no statistical significance between eruption state of third molar and postoperative infection, but in case of extraction, postoperative infection was high rate in complete impacted cases. 4.There were no statistical significance between non-extraction or extraction of third molar and postoperative infection depending on condition of third molar. There are no difference in infection rate statistically according to the time from injury to operation, eruption state and condition of third molar, but retention of third molar revealed lowered infection rate in completely impacted cases. By terms of the manegement of third molar, we should extract or preserve third molar in the line of the mandibular angle fracture according to possibility of infection.

        The interaction of dye-surfactants and dye-surfactant mixtures have been examined by the absorption spectroscopy. The interaction of surfactant mixtures and the CMC exchange of surfactant mixtures were examined. In dye(Thionin)-anionic surfactant(SDS)system and the absorption band of dimer increased at S/D≤100. In dye-nonionic surfactant(AE)system and the absorption spectra of dimer band was not appeared. In Thionin-SDS-AE system, the change of dimer, monomer and oligomer band was influenced by the CMC of AE. As the concentration of AE increased, the dimer and oligomer of thionin-SDS system was deaggreated. In various temperature, the interaction between Dye and Surfactant mixtures are examine.

        The vacuum cleaner motor runs on very high speed for the suction power. Specially, the motive power is provided by the impeller being rotate on very high speed. And centrifugal fan consists of the impeller, the diffuser, and the circular casing. Due to the high rotating speed of the impeller and small gap distance between the impeller and diffuser, the centrifugal fan makes very high noise level at BPF and harmonic frequencies. In order to calculate the sound pressure of centrifugal fan, the unsteady flow data is needed. And Noise cause is dividing to fluid noise by exhaust flow of fan and vibration noise by rotational vibration of vacuum cleaner fan motor. Until now, measuring method has been used to measure vibration by the accelerometer; this method has been not measured for the vibration in some parts of brush and commutator because of motor construction and 3-D vibrating mode. This paper was purposed on the accurate analysis, using laser vibration analyzer, By using this measured data of noise cause against the difficult part in old times, we would like to use for the design of silent fan motor.

        소아의 하악골 골절에 관한 임상적 연구

        The jaws of children differ from those of adults in the aspects of architectural and mechanical properties, sites, form and treatment modality. This study reviews the result of treatment of pediatric mandibular fractures between 1994 and 1998 at dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, School of dentistry, Wonkwang University by means of the age and sex distribution, mechanism of injury, location of fractures and associated patterns, fracture management, postoperative complications, any associated injuries to other organ systems. Total number of these study was 61 facial bone fractures in 32 patients. The results were as follows. 1.The pediatric mandibular fractures predominated in the age of 6∼12, and had no sexual predilection. 2.The main cause of pediatric mandibular fractures was the traffic related accidents(56.2%) 3.The condylar fracture only was 23 cases (37.7%) in total 61 sites of mandibular fractures and the symphysis fracture was 20 (32.7%) ; the highest incidence of mandibualr fracture was the symphysis with unilateral condyle combined fracture in 61 total mandibular fracture sites. 4.The major postoperative complication was deviation during mouth opening (41.2%) and the facial asymmetry(17.7%) in second. 5.Soft tissue laceration(53%) was the most associated injury with mandibular fracture and the abdominal injury(12.5%), the head injury(12.5%), and the extrimity injury (6.2%) in order.

        Opuntia humifusa Ameliorated Cerulein-Induced Acute Pancreatitis

        OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Opuntia humifusa (OH) on cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP). METHODS: Acute pancreatitis was induced via intraperitoneal injection of cholecystokinin analog cerulein (50 μg/kg). In the OH pretreatment group, OH was administered intraperitoneally (100, 250, or 500 mg/kg) 1 hour before first cerulein injection. In the posttreatment group, OH was administered intraperitoneally (500 mg/kg) 1 hour after the first cerulein injection. Furthermore, we isolated the pancreatic acinar cells using collagenase method, then investigated the acinar cell viability, cytokine productions, and the regulating mechanisms. RESULTS: The both pretreatment and posttreatment of OH treatment attenuated the severity of AP, as shown by the histology of the pancreas and lung, and inhibited neutrophil infiltration; serum amylase and lipase activities; proinflammatory cytokine expression such as interleukin 1, interleukin 6, and tumor necrosis factor α; and cell death including apoptosis and necrosis. Furthermore, OH inhibited the activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinases. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that OH reduces the severity of AP by inhibiting acinar cell death through c-Jun N-terminal kinases.

        β-Lapachone (LAPA) Decreases Cell Viability and Telomerase Activity in Leukemia Cells: Suppression of Telomerase Activity by LAPA

        Up-regulation of telomerase activity is associated with immortalization and unlimited cell division in most cancer cells. Therefore, telomerase represents a particularly attractive target for anticancer therapy. Recent reports have suggested that β-lapachone (LAPA), the product of the South American Tabebuia avellanedae tree, inhibits growth of tumor cells. However, the underlying relationship between telomerase activity and apoptosis in response to LAPA exposure in leukemia cells remains poorly understood. In this study, we confirmed that LAPA treatment induces direct cytotoxicity in human leukemia cells (U937, K562, HL60, and THP-1) through activation of caspase-3 and subsequent cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase. The observed induction of cell death was associated with decreased telomerase activity, which was ascribed to down-regulation of telomerase reverse transcriptase. Additionally, overexpression of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 could not overcome the induction of apoptosis or the decreased telomerase activity in response to treatment of U937 cells with LAPA. We conclude that LAPA has a direct cytotoxic effect and the loss of telomerase activity in leukemia cells.

        <P>Sinomenine is an alkaloid compound and a prominent anti-allergic agent found in the root of the climbing plant <I>Sinomenium acutum</I>. However, its effects on the bone marrow-derived mast cell (BMMC) mediated allergy and inflammation mechanism remain unknown. In this study, the biological effects of sinomenine were evaluated while focusing on its effects on the allergic mediator in PMA plus A23187-stimulated BMMCs. An investigation was also conducted to determine its effects on the production of several allergic mediators including interleukin-6 (IL-6), prostaglandin D<SUB>2</SUB> (PGD<SUB>2</SUB>), leukotriene C<SUB>4</SUB> (LTC<SUB>4</SUB>), β棺-Hexosaminidase (β棺-Hex), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) protein. The results revealed that sinomenine inhibited the PMA plus A23187-induced production of IL-6, PGD<SUB>2</SUB>, LTC<SUB>4</SUB>, β棺-Hex, and COX-2 protein. Taken together, these findings indicate that sinomenine has the potential for use in the treatment of allergy.</P>

      • The Research Related to KANSEI Stimulation Elements in Cyber-Space

        The word "cyber-space" was coined through the developments in communication technology and computers. It became possible to experience disembodied space in practice through a new kind of medium. this research aims to clarify the kansei stimulation elements as realistic sensed by users who use 3-dimensional expressions in cyber-space. The research was carried out by preparing 25 samples of computer graphics, and administering 3 questionnaires to 12 examinees. The Principal Ingredient Analysis method was used for its analysis and assessment. As a result of this research, it can be concluded that materials, reflection and shadow have the strongest effect on human beings`` senses in cyber-space.

        Curcumin Decreases Binding of Shiga-Like Toxin-1B on Human Intestinal Epithelial Cell Line HT29 Stimulated with TNF-α and IL-1β: Suppression of p38, JNK and NF-κB p65 as Potential Targets

        <P>Intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) have been known to produce galactose-α1,4-galactose-β1,4-glucose ceramide (Gb3) which plays a pivotal role in the mucosal immune response. In particular, Shiga-like toxins (Stx) can induce apoptosis of IECs in the development of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) through binding on Gb3. Therefore, it has been hypothesized that down-regulation of Gb3 (or binding of Stx) prevents Stx from damaging in IECs. This study investigated whether curcumin, having various biological properties such as being anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-cancer, could decrease binding of Stx and the related signal pathway. Curcumin significantly inhibited the binding of Stx and the production of Gb3 synthase (GalT6) mRNA in HT29 IECs stimulated with TNF-α and IL-1β. Additionally, curcumin was able to inhibit mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), such as p38 and JNK, but not ERK1/2, degradation of IκB or translocation of NF-κB p65. Furthermore, curcumin significantly attenuated Stx-1 induced cell death and IL-8 expression. In summary, these data link Gb3 expression in HT29 cells stimulated with TNF-α and IL-1β and suggest that blocking of Stx-binding by curcumin may prevent the Stx-associated HUS.</P>
