Connective tissue seems to be involved in malignancy by lytic processes as a crucial element in invasive growth. This looks relatively simple, but data have emerged that the stroma is not just a passive but rather an active participant. Recent advances in the borderland between cancer and connective tissue research have increasingly made it clear that the relationship between malignant tissue and its stroma is a very intricate one. The present study was performed in order to investigate the variety of stromal reactivity and alterations of basement membrane accompanying malignant growth and the distribution of Langerhans cells and T and B lymphocytes in cervical epithelium affected by intaepithelial neoplasia and invasive cervical carcinoma. The subjects in this were 14 cervicitis, 42 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, 14 microinvasive cervical carcinoma and 14 invasive cervical carcinomas. A total of 84 formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens of normal, inflamed and neoplastic uterine cervix have been studied in order to correlate the epithelial changes with the expression of α-smooth muscle actin, S-100 protein, α_1-antichymotrypsin, lysozyme, LCA, CD20, UCHL1, OPD4, CD1, CD4, CD8, CD68 and typeⅣ collagen in stroma. The results of immunohistochemical and electron microscopical examinations yield virtually identical findings 1) The number of α-smooth muscle actin positive cells and the intensity of stain were related to the increasing grading of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and invasive cervical carcinoma. 2) Normal cervix and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ showed continuous basement membrane but invasive cervical carcinoma showed highly variable basement membrane deposition ranging from continuous to almost completely absent. 3) The cervical intraepithelial neoplasia Ⅲ and invasive cervical carcinoma showed an increase in spindle shaped Langerhans cells associated with increased numbers of stroma and intraepithelial lymphoid cells. The evaluation of collagen Ⅳ in basement membrane, S-100 protein and CD1 in Langerhans cells and α-smooth muscle actin in stromal cells of the uterine cervix may be an useful adjunct to diagnostic criteria of cervical intraepithrlial neoplasia and invasive cervical carcinoma, and may help understanding of the mechanisms of mesenchymal epithelial interactions during neoplasia.

Geometry pig is designed to collect pipeline geometrical data, which include dents, ovalities and girth welds and geographical data, which include pipeline plan and profile view. Geometry PIG also performs an important role in confirming whether MFL PIG could pass through the pipeline safely or not. So an artificial dent was made within Kogas Pipeline Simulation(KPSF) to measure the size of dent depth and the internal diameter changes. Several inspections were performed in KPSF and this paper shows the results of the measured data which Geometry PIG acquired through KPSF inspections.

자기누설탐상법을 이용한 가스 배관 결함 추정에 관한 연구

In general, In-Line Inspection(ILI) tool based on Magnetic Flux Leakage(MFL) technique is widely used to inspect buried gas pipeline. After inspection, the estimation and evaluation of defects are performed using the acquired MFL signal in order to repair the pipeline with defects. It is very important to analyze and estimate the MFL signal from defects as accurately as possible, because a lot of cost of repair is needed to repair the pipeline. But it is difficult to analyze MFL signal, because MFL signal has the nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, in this study, the estimation way to characterize a defect is described. In order to obtain the MFL signal from defect, MFL inspection runs were executed at Kogas Pipeline Simulation Facility(KPSF) including various artificial defects. And, 3 axis MFL signals were acquired from various defects. The length estimation of defect was performed using radial MFL signal, the width estimation was performed using wavelet transform method, and the depth estimation of defect was performed using axial MFL signal. When comparing measured size of defect with estimated size of one, the results show that the length estimation error is ±6.3mm, the width estimation error is ± 18.63mm, and the depth estimation error is ±8.3% thickness of pipewall at 80% confidence interval.

Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD) is now the most important and effective therapeutic modality as well as hemodialysis(HD) and renal transplantation in patients with chronic renal failure. It is frequently recommended to diabetic renal failure patients because of poor, athersclerotic vascularity of them. Hyperglycemia and obesity are not uncommon complications of CAPD therapy. But there were only few reports of very severe hyperglycemia or hyperosmolar coma in CRF patients on CAPD therapy, especially with 7% dextrose CAPD dialysate in foreign countries in the past. Moreover, no specific management for hyperosmolar coma is established in those situations yet. In Korea, only three cases of hyperosmolar coma in non diabetic renal failure patient on CAPD therapy have been reported in one case report. And only one case among them whose CAPD therapy was changed to HD survived. Authors also experienced a case of diabetic hyperosmolar coma treated successfully with conversion to HD in chronic renal failure patient on CAPD therapy. So we report this case with a review of literature. Taken together with this case and review of literature, changing CAPD therapy to HD is regarded to be an important part of treatment when hyperosmolar coma develops in chronic renal failure patients. Aspergillus ficuum 조효소액으로부터 Endoinulinase의 정제 및 특성

Aspergillus ficuum이 생산하는 endoglycosidase가 conventional CM, DEAE 및 HPLC DEAE, gel chromatography에 의해 단백질 ㎎당 460±40U의 specific activity로 정제되었다. 이 효소는 약 72,000분자량을 가지는 단량체로 이루어져 있었으며 당을 함유하고 있었다. 분해산물의 조사에 의한 작용기작은 전형적 endo cleavage mode를 보여주었으며 특이하게도 sucrose와 palatinose를 분해할 수 있었다. Endoinulinase was purified from a commercial inulin preparation produced by Aspergillus ficuum using ion exchange chromatography on CM-Sephadex C-50 and DEAE-Sepharose 6B, HPLC gel filtration on a Protein Pak 125 Column and HPLC ion exchange chromatography on a TSK DEAE-5pw Column. The endoinulinase had a molecular weight of 72,000±1,000 and was glycoprotein with 23 to 25% w/w sugar content. The enzyme was much more active on inulin with random cleavage mode than on sucrose and on palatinose: The ratio of activity on inulin and sucrose (I/S ratio) was 10∼14.
