        디지털 트윈의 모듈화 기법 설계: 면 제조 공정을 중심으로

        최근에 들어 디지털 트윈 기술에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 디지털 트윈은 컴퓨터 기반 시뮬레이션을 통해 물리적 현상이나 사물을 모사함으로써대상을 최적화하는 기술이다. 현재는 특정 분야에 국한되는 프로세스를 최적화하기 위한 단일 디지털 트윈이 개발되고 있지만, 독립된 디지털트윈만으로는 현실의 방대하고 복합적인 프로세스를 분석하기 어렵다. 이를 극복하고자 도입된 개념이 연합 디지털 트윈이다. 지금까지 연합 디지털트윈의 연구 방향은 주로 도시와 같이 거시적인 대상을 최적화하는 방식에 중점을 두었다. 그러나 트윈이 상호 연계된다는 특성을 활용하면 기존에구현되었던 단일 디지털 트윈의 모듈화도 가능할 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 프로세스 최적화와 관련된 기능상의 관점에서 단일 디지털 트윈과연합 디지털 트윈의 개념 및 상호 관계를 정립하고, 이를 토대로 연합 디지털 트윈을 활용한 단일 디지털 트윈의 모듈화 기법을 설계한다. 아울러,실제 면 제조 공정 사례를 바탕으로 모듈화 기법을 적용한 모델을 설계함으로써 제안하는 방법론의 효용성을 논의하고자 한다. There has been a recent surge of interest in the Digital Twin technology. The Digital Twin is technique for optimizing objects bysimulating physical phenomena or objects through computer-based simulations. Currently, single Digital Twin is being developed tooptimize processes limited to specific fields, but there is a limitation in that the independent Digital Twins cannot analyze the vast andcomplex processes of the real world. To overcome this, the concept of federated Digital Twin has been introduced. To date, the federatedDigital Twin research has primarily focused on how to optimize macroscopic objects such as cities. However, by leveraging theinterconnected nature of twins, existing implementations of the single Digital Twins can be modularized. In this study, we define theconcepts and interrelationships of the single Digital Twin and the federated Digital Twin from a functional perspective related to processoptimization and design a modularization technique for the single Digital Twin using the federated Digital Twin.         Study on the Interoperability of Digital Twin Systems

        The world is paying a lot of attention to digital twins to preoccupy future technological competitiveness. Digital twins can be used in various fields such as manufacturing, medical care, and cities. Various market research institutes predict that the market size of digital twins will gradually expand. Korea has also selected digital twin as one of the representative tasks of the Korean version of the New Deal and is promoting related policies. However, a common platform or standard for building digital twins is not enough. Interoperability is a very important characteristic for the purpose of creating new value through interconnection between digital twins rather than independently developing and utilizing digital twins. The Digital Twin Consortium is an international council for the effective development and utilization of digital twins, and is working to solve the problem of digital twin interoperability. The Digital Twin Consortium recently published the 'Digital Twin System Interoperability Framework', and this paper analyzes the digital twin interoperability based on it.

        FlexSim 모형 간 연동을 통한 공정 디지털 트윈 개념 설계 및 평가

        Digital twin is one of the integral components of advanced smart factory. However, digital twin applications are typically difficult to design and develop, since digital twin is implemented through integration of various software and hardware components. In order to mitigate these burdens, this paper proposes a novel approach called synchronization of FlexSim models for conceptual design and evaluation of process digital twin. The proposed approach is based on the virtual digital twin environment, where digital twin model interacts with virtual physical twin model instead of real hardware equipments. The virtual digital twin environment can be conveniently established by utilizing simulation models with appropriate structures and functions, which can be used as the virtual physical twin and digital twin models. Consequently, the proposed approach helps to reduce the time and cost of developing digital twin applications. FlexSim software is a commercial discrete event simulation tool suitable for building the virtual physical twin and the digital twin models, since it provides rich 3D visualization, flexible logic builder and external data connectivity. In addition, the evaluation method for digital twin model within the virtual digital twin environment is also discussed in this paper. The proposed approach is applied to develop a simple prototype of a digital twin for a manufacturing facility, and the experiment result demonstrate the usefulness of synchronization of FlexSim models in developing digital twin applications.

        에너지 산업분야 Digital Twin 기술기반 VR콘텐츠 특성연구

        (Background and Purpose) The digital twin technology that organically replicating physical objects in virtual space has attracted attention as one of the important future technologies. There are cases in which digital twin technology, IoT (sensor and network), VR/AR (virtual reality/augmented reality), and AI (artificial intelligence) technology are fused in the industrial field. In particular, such technology convergence attempts are being actively made in traditional industries. (Method) In this study, a representative case study was conducted by selecting the energy industry where the convergence of digital twin technology and VR contents is actively carried out. After classifying the selected representative cases by type, representative cases by type were studied in the order of general characteristics, content characteristics, and digital twin technology comprehensive analysis. The analysis criterion for the analysis was based on four characteristic factors: a sense of presence and immersion that constitutes the sensory aspect that the experiencer feels in the VR environment, and the connection and utilization that constitute the practical aspect. (Results) Representative case analysis results, in the digital twin technology development stage, it was confirmed that the initial stage digital twin implementation, which corresponds to the first stage(mirroring) to the second stage(monitoring), is being implemented in all of the representative cases. In addition, all of the analysis cases put a high weight on usability, and connectivity was relatively prominent in VR content for remote operation, and realism and immersion in VR content for education and viewing, respectively. (Conclusion) Analyzing the causes of the results and limitations of the study,It was found that the digital twin technology is still in its infancy due to the immaturity of related technologies such as hardware and software necessary for large-scale replication of objects. And, based on the analysis elements, it was possible to identify the differences by VR content type and the element technology used, but it was insufficient to define the characteristics. This is because it was an experimental stage where various elements were applied to VR content to see what was needed to increase the realism of the experiencer. In conclusion, although we analyzed the project details of digital twin-based VR content, we could not define clear characteristics. It is regrettable that in-depth research on the convergence of digital twin and virtual reality, a future technology, has not been conducted. However, as future technologies such as artificial intelligence, information technology, sensor technology, and robot technology are making steady progress, current technological limitations will be resolved in the not too distant future. We look forward to the emergence of digital twin-based VR contents that have been completed through continuous exploration and research on future technologies.

        공공 분야 디지털 트윈국토 정책의 성과와 개선 과제

        현실 세계의 다양한 객체를 가상 세계에 구현하고 각종 상황을 가상 세계 내에서 시뮬레이션하여 현실 세계에 적용 가능한 통찰력을 얻는 디지털트윈이 공공 분야를 중심으로 확산되고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 공공 분야 디지털 트윈국토 정책을 사례로 하여 국내 디지털트윈을 주도하고 있는 공공기관이 안정적으로 사업을 추진하기 위한 정책적 관점에서의 성과 고찰과 향후 개선 과제를 도출하는 것이다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 먼저 디지털트윈의 개념, 디지털트윈에 대한 여론, 산업, 정책 동향을 파악하였다. 이후 공공 분야 디지털 트윈국토의 성과와 한계점에 대해 고찰하였다. 다음으로는 디지털트윈 분야 관련 전문가를 대상으로 향후 정책적으로 개선이 필요한 사항에 대해 전문가 의견을 수렴하였다. 마지막으로 전술한 분석 결과를 종합적으로 정리 및 연계하여 향후 공공 분야 디지털 트윈국토 정책이 나아가야 할 개선 과제(디지털트윈 국가 정책 선도, 디지털 트윈국토 연계 및 확산, 업무 운영 체계 개편, 사회적 가치 창출 및 책임 수행 등)와 전략들을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 공공 분야에서의 디지털트윈 관련 정책 방향을 설정하기 위한 기초 자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. The digital twin, which represents physical entities in the virtual world and simulates various situations in the virtual world to gain insight applicable to the real world, is spreading in the public sector. The purpose of this study is to review the effectiveness and derive improvement tasks for public institutions to stably pursue projects in public national digital twin. In order to achieve the purpose, first the concept of digital twin, public opinion, industry and policy trends on digital twin were reviewed. Then, achievements and limitations of public national digital twin were analyzed. Next, opinions on improving policy were collected from experts in the filed of digital twin. Lastly, based on the analysis results, the improvement tasks(Leading a digital twin national policy, Linkage and expansion of national digital twin, Reorganization of internal business operation system, Creating social value and carrying out responsibility) and strategies were suggested. This study is expected to be used as basic data for public agencies to establish the digital twin policy in the future.

        Research Status and Trend of Digital Twin: Visual Knowledge Mapping Analysis

        Digital twins are one of the promising digital technologies used to facilitate digital transformation. Therefore, it needs to continually be developed remain relevant in industry and academia. Consolidation of research is required to create a common understanding of the topic and to ensure that future research is built upon a solid foundation. Based on a bibliometric review and a thematic analysis of 217 publications on digital twins from the past two decades, this paper creates and analyzes a visual knowledge map and proposes areas for further research. To comprehensively analyze the development trends and research trends of digital twins, we performed statistical analysis of the relevant literature on digital twins within the core collection database of Web of Science. Through our research, we have shown that the current situation, trends, and hotspots of digital twin research were analyzed via CiteSpace. This study demonstrates that research on digital twins is rapidly growing in popularity, that the output of the research depends largely on the core group of authors conducting it, and that digital twins warrant cross-domain and cross-disciplinary research pathways.

        공공기관의 디지털트윈 수행업무 체계화 방향

        현실세계의 다양한 객체를 가상세계에서 디지털 기술로 재현하고, 각종 상황을 가상세계에서 시뮬레이션하여 현실세계의 최적화된 의사결정을 지원하는 디지털트윈이 전 세계적으로 확대되고 있으며, 최근 국내의 공공기관에서도 디지털트윈 사업을 추진하는 사례가 증가하고 있다. 이 연구는 공공기관의 디지털트윈 수행업무 체계화 방향을 마련하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 연구목적 달성을 위해 첫째, 이론적 검토를 통해 디지털트윈에 대한 개념검토, 디지털트윈 국가정책에 따른 공공기관의 역할, 선행연구에 대한 고찰을 실시하였다. 둘째, 주요 공공기관의 업무영역과 디지털트윈 사업구조 체계화를 위한 이슈사항을 도출하고 이슈해결을 위한 업무유형을 분류하였다. 셋째, 디지털트윈 사업구조 관련 이슈와 세분화한 업무유형을 사업단계별로 구조화하여 공공기관의 디지털트윈 수행업무 체계화 방향을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 향후 중앙정부 산하의 공공기관이 디지털트윈 사업을 안정적으로 수행하기 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 향후 국내 디지털트윈 발전과 고도화를 위한 정책적 시사점을 제공할 것이다. A digital twin is a virtual representation of diverse physical entities using digital technologies. It supports optimized decision-making in the real world by simulating various situations in the virtual world. A digital twin is becoming a global trend and recently public agencies performing digital twin projects in South Korea are increasing. This study is to establish a systematic plan for public agencies to perform digital twin projects. In order to achieve the research purpose, the concept of digital twins, roles of public agencies for the national digital twin policy, and related literatures are reviewed. Second, main issues are reviewed in terms of systematization of both work areas of related public agencies and structure of the digital twin project. In addition, work types are classified to deal with the issues. Third, both issues related to the structure of the digital twin project and the classified work types are structured according to project phases and a systematic plan for the digital twin project is suggested in terms of public agencies. This study is expected to be used as basic data for public agencies under the central government to perform digital twin projects in the future. In addition, it will provide policy implications for the development and advancement of the Korean digital twin.

        영국·호주·싱가포르의 국가 디지털 트윈 정책 - 토지관리 -

        This study is to analyze the national digital twin policy in other countries and draw implications. Research design is based on case and comparative study and the second data is used in terms of research method. Literature review is carried out in terms of digital twin, land management, digital twin and land management and literature review. Digital twin is interrelated with land management in terms of subject, purpose and means. The national digital twin programme in UK, spatially enabled digital twins of built and natural environment in Australia and virtual singapore in Singapore are analyzed. As a result the three implications are suggested. First, the public sector as well as the private sector and the academia are a pivotal role in national digital twin. In addition, both the public sector and private sector play an important role in land management that has effect on national digital twin. Second, national digital twin and land management have common purpose in terms of decision-making support. Third, exact precise positioning framework and principles are used as a means of national digital twin and land management. 본 연구에서는 외국의 국가 디지털 트윈 정책 사례를 검토하고 시사점을 도출하는데 목표를 두고 있다. 연구설계는 사례연구과 비교연구를 병행하였으며, 연구방법은 관련 학술 문헌과 정부 보고서 등 2차 자료를 중심으로 수집하였다. 이론적 고찰은 디지털 트윈, 토지관리, 디지털 트윈과 토지관리, 선행연구 차원에서 접근하였다. 특히, 디지털 트윈과토지관리는 주체, 목적, 수단의 관점에서 관련성을 도출하였다. 해외 사례로 영국의 국가 디지털 트윈 프로그램, 호주의 공간적으로 이용 가능한 디지털 트윈, 싱가포르의 버추얼 싱가포르를 검토하였다. 이들을 통하여 세 가지 시사점을도출하였다. 첫째, 국가 디지털 트윈 정책 추진을 위하여 공공뿐만 아니라 학계, 민간의 역할이 중요하며, 국가 디지털트윈 구축·운영을 위하여 중요한 요인인 토지정보의 관리 및 활용의 경우에도 공공과 민간의 역할이 중요하다. 둘째, 정확한 의사결정 지원 차원에서 국가 디지털 트윈 정책과 토지관리는 공통된 목적을 공유한다. 셋째, 정확한 위치정보체계 및 원칙은 국가 디지털 트윈 정책 및 토지관리를 위한 수단으로 역할을 수행한다.

        4차 산업혁명 디지털 트윈 기술의 품질경영 적용 연구

        Purpose: Authors observe the digital twin enabled smart factory and/or digital manufacturing processes where Industry 4.0 technologies and quality management principles intersect. In this regard, this study reviews existing research regarding digital twins from the perspective of quality management. Methods: Initially, attention was given to how digital twins are manifested in the Industry 4.0 environment. Then, authors identify quality management elements amongst digital twin models, to align the concept of quality with the functional purpose of digital twins. After introducing specific examples of quality management tools applied to digital twins, the authors extend the domain of quality management into the analysis of multimedia format quality data obtained through machine vision. Results: Inspired by cases on the quality management application to digital twins, the authors suggest a framework for Industry 4.0 quality management. The envisioned suggested framework encompasses 4 dimensions, namely, 4M&1E, an application time window, new methodologies, and enabling technologies. Conclusion: Finally, the authors unfold the emerging trend of digital twin enabled smart factories, while emphasizing the necessity of quality management in conjunction with the introduction of digital twins.

        이산사건시스템 기반의 쾌속 디지털 트윈 프로토타입 개발 방법론

        Digital twins are gaining traction in fields such as defense, process optimization, and manufacturing, offering potential enhancements in efficiency and waste reduction across various industries. The dynamic demands of these industries necessitate the expedited creation and modification of digital twin-based services to accommodate changes in requirements, including the adoption of new technologies or new object considerations. In response to this challenge, our research proposes a novel methodology for rapid digital twin development, leveraging discrete event systems. The suggested method employs a system that represents real-world objects' data as digital equivalents in the digital twin, through the formalism of discrete event systems, allowing the construction of digital twin systems with minimal expert knowledge. The methodology introduces reusable templates, obviating the need for comprehensive code modifications, and only requiring alterations to select parts for different use-cases. Furthermore, it outlines a template-based rapid digital twin development approach for implementing digital twins and provides design principles for systems intended to control and operate real-world objects. 디지털 트윈은 프로세스 최적화, 낭비 감소 및 다양한 산업 전반의 효율성 향상을 위해 국방, 공정 최적화, 제조 등의 분야에서 도입을 시도하고 있다. 이와 같은 디지털 트윈 기반 서비스는 산업의 요구를 반영하기 위하여 빠르게 디지털 트윈을 구축해야 한다는 요구사항과 새로운 기술의 도입이나 새로운 개체에 대한 고려를 비롯하여 개체에 대한 요구사항 변경 시 기존에 구성한 디지털 트윈 기반 서비스를 빠르게 수정 보완해야 하는 요구사항이 존재한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 이산사건시스템 기반의 쾌속 디지털트윈 개발방법론을 제안한다. 제안하는 개발방법론에서 사용하는 시스템은 이산사건시스템으로 디지털트윈 내 현실 개체의 데이터를 디지털 개체로 대응시키는 시스템으로 최소한의 전문지식으로 디지털트윈 시스템을 구축할 수 있도록 이산사선시스템 형식론으로 이산사건시스템을 정의하며 템플릿을 제공하여 모든 코드를 수정할 필요 없이 일부만 변경하여 재사용할 수 있는 시스템으로 제안하였다. 또한, 해당 템플릿을 활용하여 디지털 트윈을 구현하는 경우 사용 가능한 템플릿 기반의 쾌속 디지털 트윈 개발방법론을 제안하고, 현실 세계의 개체를 제어하고 동작시키기 위한 시스템의 설계 방법을 제시한다.
