        부산지역 호텔 연회의 일드 관리 적용을 통한 호텔 연회장별, 연간 및 계절별 재무성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        대부분의 일드 관리에 관한 연구는 항공사와 호텔산업을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 부산지역의 특1급 호텔의 호텔 연회 상품에 대한 일드 관리(yield management)를 적용하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 일드 관리를 연회에 적용하기 위한 일드 측정요인을 검증하고자 한다. 둘째, 일드 관리가 호텔 연회의 재무성과에 미치는 영향을 보고자 한다. 셋째, 호텔연회 일드 관리에 영향을 미치는 호텔 연회장별, 연별, 계절별 요인에 의한 차이를 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 호텔연회의 일드를 산출하기 위하여 부산지역 5개 특1급 호텔의 연회매출 현황인 2차 자료를 토대로 하였다. 연별 실제매출총액은 연회 인원수, 객단가, 연회매출을 변수로 설정하였다. 본 연구에서 고려해야 할 중요 변수는 잠재 변수들로서, 잠재 매출총액은 잠재 인원수를 각 호텔의 연회장에 정찬기준 최대 좌석수로 산출하였으며, 잠재 객단가는 표본으로 한 5개 특1급 호텔의 평균 객단가로 산출하여 변수로 설정하였다. 객단가와 인원수 모두 연회 일드 관리와 연회매출에 정(+)의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 표본 호텔 연회의 호텔 연회별, 연간 및 계절별 연회 일드 추이비교분석을 실시하였다. 표본 호텔 연회의 호텔 연회장별 비교 결과 대상 호텔 연회장 중 3개 호텔 연회장의 일드는 우수 했으나 2개 호텔연회의 일드는 저조하여 현저한 차이를 보였으며, 연간 추이 비교 결과 호텔 연회별 일드의 결과 치 순위가 거의 매년 비슷함을 알 수 있었다. 일드의 계절별 추이는 가을, 겨울, 봄 순으로 가장 높은 일드를 보였으나 오히려 여름은 저조한 일드를 보였다. Most previous yield management studies have targeted in airlines, hotel rooms, and conventions. However, this study has focused on banquets in hotels, in which the capacity of the space and price range are normally decided and proceed the study of yield management. This study aims to provide a useful information applying yield management to banquets in hotels as a measurement tool for yield management, analyzing performance of competitors most influential in the sales. This also can identify how the analysis of yield management impacts on yearly and seasonally five-star hotel's banquets revenue performance in Busan area. Five luxury hotel banquets in Busan have been selected to analyze with the shared banquet performance data among these five hotels. The findings are the following. Both the average check and the attendance affect positively to the banquet revenue. We also compare each hotel banquet yield, yearly and seasonally yield management performance. Three hotel banquets among sampled hotel banquets show excellent yield, but two of them show poor yield. Yearly yield differences do not prove significant. Seasonally yield management performances show statistically different, but rank-order consistency among these five hotel banquets. The author provides applicable and useful tool for yield management in banquets in hotels, and identifies ranks orders in terms of yield value.

        Grain yield variability and stability of corn varieties in rainfed areas in the Philippines

        Determining the factors afecting the yield of corn varieties due to genotype by environment (G ×E) interaction can be helpful in the identifcation of sites with contrasting environments for efective multi-location trials. Field experiments were conducted for one cropping season in selected corn-growing areas in the Philippines. Corn varieties used were: (i) IPB Var 6, IPB Var 8, LB Lagkitan, IES Lagkitan, and Native corn in Luzon; (ii) IPB Var 6, IPB Var 11, IPB Var 13, and OxL in Visayas; and (iii) IPB Var 6, LB Lagkitan, and OxL in Mindanao. Climatic parameters, such as temperature, rainfall, and relative humidity in each location were determined. Grain yield variability was obtained as afected by the prevailing climatic factors during the growing period. In Luzon, variations in corn grain yield were mainly attributed to the genotypic efect under Type I climate (distinct dry and wet season), and IPB Var 6 has consistently higher grain yields across sites. The efect of the environment on the grain yield of IPB Var 6, IPB Var 8, LB Lagkitan, IES Lagkitan, and Native variety was apparent under Type IV climate and the diferent corn varieties were not afected by the climatic factors. In the Visayas, relative humidity contributed signifcantly to grain yield variations of four varieties in diferent locations with Type I climate. Varietal diferences in corn grain yield under Type IV climate were attributed to the genotypic efect and IPB Var 13 variety has consistently higher grain yield. Temperature, genotype, and relative humidity contributed signifcantly to the variations in the grain yield of IPB Var 6, OxL, and LB Lagkitan in locations with a Type II climate in Mindanao. On the other hand, genotype and relative humidity signifcantly infuenced the yield performance of three varieties grown in diferent locations with a Type IV climate. In conclusion: (i) IPB Var 6 can be recommended in Luzon under Type I and IV climates, based on yield performance across locations; (ii) IPB Var 13 can be recommended under Type I and IV climates in the Visayas based on grain yield, with IPB Var 11 being the most stable genotype across three locations with Type I and IV climates; and (iii) IPB Var 6 having the highest grain yield under Type II and IV climates in Mindanao, can be recommended in Mindanao, eventhough it has specifc adaptations in some locations.

        Estimation of Oil Yield of Perilla by Seed Characteristics and Crude Fat Content

        Perilla (Perilla frutescens var.frutescens) is an annual plant of the Lamiaceae family, mainly grown for obtaining oil by press extraction after roasting the seeds. Oil yield is one of its important traits, but evaluating this yield is time-consuming, requires many seeds, and is hard to adjust to pedigrees in a breeding field. The objective of this study was to develop a method for selecting high-oil-yield lines in a breeding population without oil extraction. Twenty-three perilla cultivars were used for evaluating the oil yield and seed traits such as seed hardness, seed coat thickness, seed coat proportion and crude fat. After evaluation of the seed traits of 23 perilla cultivars, the ranges of oil yields, seed hardness, seed coat thickness, seed coat proportion, 100-seed weight, and crude fat were 24.68-38.75%, 157-1166 gf, 24-399 ㎛, 15.4-41.5%, 2.79-6.69 g, and 33.0-47.8%, respectively. In an analysis of correlation coefficients, the oil yield negatively correlated with seed length, seed width, the proportion of seed coat, seed hardness, and 1000-seed weight, but positively correlated with crude fat content. It was observed that as the seed coat proportion increased, the seed coat thickness, hardness, and 1000-seed weight also increased. Multiple linear regression (MLR) was employed to find major variables affecting the oil yield. Among the variables, traits crude fat content and seed coat proportion were assumed to be indirect parameters for estimating the potential oil yield, with respect to a significant positive correlation with the observed oil yield (R2 = 0.791). Using these two parameters, an equation was derived to predict the oil yield. The results of this study show that various seed traits in 23 perilla cultivars positively or negatively correlated with the oil yield. In particular, crude fat and the seed coat proportion can be used for predicting the oil yield with the newly developed equation, and this approach will improve the efficiency of selecting prominent lines for the oil yield.

        자포니카 다수성 벼 드래찬과 보람찬 유래 약배양 계통을 이용한 이삭 및 수량 관련 형질 분석 및 다수성 계통 육성

        A doubled haploid (DH) lines derived from the cross between high-yielding japonica rice cultivars ‘Deuraechan’ and ‘Boramchan’ was developed to increase diversity of panicle and yield-related traits and select high-yielding lines. Panicle and yield-related traits of DH population consisting of 163 lines and 13 selected high-yielding lines were analyzed using correlation, principal component, and path analysis. Among panicle-related traits, number of spikelets on secondary rachis-branches (SRBs) was more highly correlated with and had more positive effect on number of spikelets (NS) than number of spikelets on primary rachis-branches (PRBs) per panicle. In the DH population, NS had the most positive effect on yield, whereas panicle number per hill (PN) was in the selected lines. PN was significantly positive correlated with ratio of ripened grain (RGG) in both case. The enhancement of ripening and increase of total spikelets number by increasing PN had more effect on yield than increase of total spiekelts number by increasing NS in the selected lines. Among 13 lines, four lines, AC60, AC152, AC156, and AC161 showed higher yield than Deuraechan (481 kg/10a) and Boramchan (558 kg/10a). Deuraechan exhibited panicle-weight type with low tiller and heavy panicles and Boramchan was slightly panicle-number type with more PN and higher RGG. Selected high-yielding lines showed medium characteristics of parents with improved yield potential. These elite lines could be utilized to develop high-yielding japonica rice.

        Breeding and Genetics : Estimation of Daily Milk Yields from AM/PM Milking Records

        Daily milk yields on test days were estimated using morning or afternoon partial milk yields collected by official agencies and the accuracy of the estimates was determined. Test-day data for milk yields consisted of 3,156,734 records of AM/PM partial milking measurements of 255,437 milking Holstein cows from 3,708 farms collected from December 2008 to April 2013. A linear regression model(LRM) was applied to estimate daily milk yields using alternate AM/PM milk yield records within lactation stages, milking intervals, and parities on every daily milk yield. The alternate statistical approach was a non-linear hierarchical model(NHM) in which Brody`s growth function was implemented by reflecting an animal`s physiological milk production cycle. When compared with LRM, daily milk yields predicted by the NHM were assumed to be functionally related to day in milk(or lactation) stage, milking intervals, and partial milk yields. Since the results were in terms of accuracies based on comparisons of different statistical models, accuracies of estimates of daily milk yields by NHM were close to those determined by the LRM. The average of these accuracies was 0.94 for AM partial milk yields and 0.93 for PM partial milk yields for first calving cows. However, the accuracies of AM/PM milk yield estimations from cows under a calving stage higher than the first parity were 0.96 and 0.95, respectively. Correlations between the estimated daily milk yields and the actual daily milk yields ranged from 0.96~ 0.98. These accuracies were lower for unbalanced AM/PM milking intervals and the first calving cows. Overall, prediction of daily milk yields by NHM would be more appropriate than by LRM due to its flexibility under different milk yield-related circumstances, which provides an idea of the functional relationship between milking intervals and days in milk with daily milk yields from statistical viewpoints.

        온도 조건에 따른 벼 수량 및 수량 관련 요소 반응의 품종간 차이

        생태형이 다른 8개 벼 품종을 대상으로 포트 실험을 실시하여 대기온, 대기온 대비 +1.5oC, +3.0oC, +5.0oC 온도 조건에서의 수량 및 수량 관련 요소의 반응을 분석하였다. 이삭수를 제외한 수량 및 수량 관련 요소들의 온도 상승 조건에 대한 반응은 생태형 및 품종에 따라 유의한 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 온도가 높아짐에 따라 영화수는 증감의 경향이 명확하진 않았으나 대체로 대기온보다는 증가하였고, 천립중과 등숙률은 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 수량 관련 요소중 온도 상승에 가장 민감한 반응을 보인 요소는 등숙률이었으며, 가장 둔감한 요소는 천립중이었다. 등숙률의 하락과 맞물려 수량은 고온 조건일수록 낮아졌으나, 영화수 증가 영향으로 수량의 저하 정도는 등숙률의 그것보다 크지 않았다. 생태형 및 품종별 반응은 조생종의 오대벼와 운광벼가 온도 조건에 가장 민감하였으며, 중만생종 품종들의 반응은 대체로 둔감한 것으로 나타났다. 출수 후 온도의 영향 정도를 분석한 결과 천립중, 등숙률, 완전발육미율, 수량은 출수 후 20일간의 평균기온과 가장 높은 상관관계를 보였으며, 온도가 높아질수록 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 상관분석 결과를 바탕으로 로지스틱 함수를 이용하여 품종 간 온도 반응 특성의 차이를 분석하였다. 수량의 경우 품종 간 온도 반응 특성이 다르지 않은 것으로 나타나, 품종에 상관없이 온도 반응에 대한 추정이 가능할 것으로 사료된다. 이와 달리 천립중, 등숙률, 완전발육미율, 임실률의 경우 품종별로 온도 반응 특성이 달랐으므로, 각 품종에 맞는 온도 반응 추정식을 이용해야 할 것이다. An experiment in a controlled environment was conducted to evaluate the genotypic differences of grain yield and yield-related elements of rice under elevated air temperature. Eight rice genotypes included in three maturing group (early, medium, and medium-late maturing group) were grown with 1/5,000 a Wagner pots at four plastic houses that were controlled to the temperature regimes of ambient temperature (AT), AT+1.5oC, AT+3.0oC, and AT+5.0oC throughout the rice growing season in 2011. Ripened grain ratio and 1000 grain weight showed the most susceptible and tolerant responses to elevated air temperature, respectively. The grain yield reduction was attributable to the sharp decrease of ripened grain ratio. Grain yield was significantly decreased above the treatment of AT+1.5oC and AT+3.0oC in early maturing group and the others, respectively. Highly correlation to average temperature from heading to 20 days was revealed in yield (r = -0.69), ripened grain ratio (r = -82), fully-filled grain (r = -70), and 1000 grain weight (r = -0.31). The responses of yield and yieldrelated elements except number of spikelets and panicle to elevated air temperature were fitted to a logistic function. The parameters of logistic function for each elements except grain yield could not be applied to the other varieties. In conclusion, yield and yield-related elements responded differentially to elevated air temperature according to maturity groups and rice varieties. Ongoing global warming is expected to decrease the grain yield not only by decreasing the grain weight but also decreasing the ripened grain ratio in the future. However, the yield reduction would be mitigated by adopting and/or breeding the less sensitive varieties to high temperature.

        작물 생육 모델을 이용한 지역단위 콩 수량 예측

        본 연구에서는 재배 방법, 토양 특성 등의 정보를 상세하게 수집하기 어려운 지역단위의 콩 작황을 작물생육 모델을 이용하여 예측하는 방법을 개발하고자 하였다. 작물 생육 모델은 DSSAT에 포함된 CROPGRO-Soybean 모델을 이용하였고, 미국의 주요 콩 생산지역인 Illinois주를 연구 사례지역으로 선택하였다. CROPGRO-Soybean 모델을 이용하여 Illinois주의 콩 수량을 예측하기 위한 첫 단계로 다양한 성숙군에 속하는 국내외 품종들을 수집하여 서울대학교농장($37.27^{\circ}N$, $126.99^{\circ}E$)에서 2년동안 파종기 실험을 하여 성숙군(maturity group) I~VI까지의 성숙군별 대표 품종모수(genetic coefficients)를 추정하였다. 대표 품종모수는 각 성숙군 내에 포함되어 있는 품종들의 발육을 매우 정확하게 추정하였다. $10km{\times}10km$ 격자 단위의 기상자료를 바탕으로 성숙군(3), 파종시기(3), 관개여부(2) 등을 조합하여 18가지 조건으로 2000년에서 2011년까지 수량을 각각 모의 하였다. 성숙군과 파종시기는 Illinois주를 위도에 따라 3등분하여 각각 다르게 설정하였다. 관개 및 무관개 조건으로 구분하여 격자 별 모의결과로부터 Illinois주 전체 평균 모의수량을 구하여 연도 별 통계 수량과 비교한 결과 두 경우 모두 실제 수량과 큰 차이를 보일 뿐만 아니라 연차에 따른 수량 변동과 증가 경향을 반영하지 못하였다. 이러한 한계를 극복하고자 처리 별 격자 별로 모의된 수량을 수량을 18개 모의 조건 별로 평균하여 구한 9개 농업지구의 연도별 수량을 독립 변수, 농업지구의 연도별 통계수량을 종속 변수로 하는 중회귀 모델을 구축하였다. 18개 모의 조건 별 수량 외에 품종 개량, 재배 기술 발전 등에 따른 수량의 연차적 변화경향을 반영하기 위하여 연도를 독립변수로 추가하였으며, 중회귀모델은 농업지구와 연도별 수량 변이를 비교적 잘 예측($R^2=0.61$, n=108)하였다. 중회귀 모델로 추정한 9개 농업지구의 연도별 수량을 농업지구별 재배 면적으로 가중 평균한 Illinois의 연도별 추정수량은 통계수량에 매우 근사하였다($R^2=0.80$). 뿐만 아니라 모델 구축 대상연도가 아니고 가뭄으로 수량이 크게 감소한 2012년의 예측 수량은 $3006kg\;ha^{-1}$로 통계수량 $2890kg\;ha^{-1}$과 $116kg\;ha^{-1}$의 근사한 차이를 보였다. The present study was to develop an approach for predicting soybean yield using a crop growth simulation model at the regional level where the detailed and site-specific information on cultivation management practices is not easily accessible for model input. CROPGRO-Soybean model included in Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) was employed for this study, and Illinois which is a major soybean production region of USA was selected as a study region. As a first step to predict soybean yield of Illinois using CROPGRO-Soybean model, genetic coefficients representative for each soybean maturity group (MG I~VI) were estimated through sowing date experiments using domestic and foreign cultivars with diverse maturity in Seoul National University Farm ($37.27^{\circ}N$, $126.99^{\circ}E$) for two years. The model using the representative genetic coefficients simulated the developmental stages of cultivars within each maturity group fairly well. Soybean yields for the grids of $10km{\times}10km$ in Illinois state were simulated from 2,000 to 2,011 with weather data under 18 simulation conditions including the combinations of three maturity groups, three seeding dates and two irrigation regimes. Planting dates and maturity groups were assigned differently to the three sub-regions divided longitudinally. The yearly state yields that were estimated by averaging all the grid yields simulated under non-irrigated and fully-Irrigated conditions showed a big difference from the statistical yields and did not explain the annual trend of yield increase due to the improved cultivation technologies. Using the grain yield data of 9 agricultural districts in Illinois observed and estimated from the simulated grid yield under 18 simulation conditions, a multiple regression model was constructed to estimate soybean yield at agricultural district level. In this model a year variable was also added to reflect the yearly yield trend. This model explained the yearly and district yield variation fairly well with a determination coefficients of $R^2=0.61$ (n = 108). Yearly state yields which were calculated by weighting the model-estimated yearly average agricultural district yield by the cultivation area of each agricultural district showed very close correspondence ($R^2=0.80$) to the yearly statistical state yields. Furthermore, the model predicted state yield fairly well in 2012 in which data were not used for the model construction and severe yield reduction was recorded due to drought.

        논과 밭에서 콩 생산성과 생육 형질들의 측정치의 관계를 알아보기 위해 시험을 수행한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 단위면적당 콩 수량은 논보다 밭에서 높은 경향 이였으나 개체당종실수는 밭에서 100립중은 논에서 높은 경향이였다. 논에서 태광콩의 수량이 가장 높았고 대원콩과 황금콩 순으로 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 밭에서는 황금콩에서 가장 높은 수량을 기록했고 대원콩과 태광콩 순으로 높았다. 2. 밭에서 수확지수는 태광콩과 황금콩이 논보다 높았고 대원콩은 논에서 밭보다 유의성은 없었으나 높은 경향이었고, 전체적으로 대원콩이 논 밭 모두에서 가장 높았다. 3. 100립중은 태광콩은 유의성이 없었으나 대원콩은 밭에서 황금콩은 논에서 높았다. 4. 엽의 녹색도는 논과 밭 재배조건 모두 파종 후 4주차부터 감소되었으나,논의 경우는 6주차까지 감소하였고, 그 이후 증가하였으며 밭의 경우는 5주차에 가장 낮은 값을 기록한 후 6주차부터는 상승하였다. 5. 지상부 건물중, 협 건물중, 협수, 경장, 경직경은 태광콩과 황금콩이 밭보다 논에서 높았으며 대원콩은 밭에서 높은 경향이었다. 6. 협 생체중은 논 밭 모두 파종 후 9주차부터 점차 상승하였으나 1 cm 이하의 협수는 논에서는 12주차, 밭에서는 11주차 이후에는 세 품종 모두 증가되지 않았다. 7. 작물생장율(CGR)은 논재배콩이 밭보다 파종후 8주차 이후부터 높은 경향이었고, 13주차에서는 대원콩이 타 품종들보다 월등히 높았다. 밭에서는 파종후 12주차부터 15주차까지 태광콩, 대원콩, 황금콩 순으로 높았다. 8. 개체당종실수와 수량간의 상관은 논 밭 모두 고도의 정상관을 보였다. 9. 엽면적과 지상부 건물중은 논에서는 파종후 5주차를 제외한 4-15주차 사이에 0.8내외의 고도의 정의 상관을 나타냈으나, 밭에서는 4, 5주차에서 상관이 낮았고 나머지 기간에는 논과 같은 양상을 보였다. 10. 엽면적과 지상부 건물중과의 상관은 논 밭 모두 고도의 정의 상관을 보였다.이 좌우되는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 질소흡수량이 같더라도 총영화수와 수량은 연차간에 차이를 보였다.rotease 활성과 생물학적 기능의 상관관계를 이해하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다.V는 앞으로 바이러스와 기주의 다양한 상호관계를 이해하는데 있어서 중요한 병원학적 성질을 가지고 있는 것으로 생각되었다.>300℃ 이하, 공정압력 1 Torr, 그리고 bias전압과 기체 혼합비를 변화시키면서 증착하였다. 증착시 in-situ OES 분석결과 플라즈마 내의 질소종의 함유량 변화에 따라 증착속도가 크게 변화됨을 알 수 있었고, 많은 질소기체를 인입하면 질소종이 많아지지만 증착률은 급격히 감소하였고 박막내 탄소의 함량이 커지면서 막질이 비정질로 바뀌고 미세경도 또한 감소함을 알 수 있었다. 이는 in-situ 플라즈마 진단분석이 전체 PEMOCVD 공정에 있어서 대단히 중요하고, Ti(C,N)과 Hf(C,N) 코팅막의 탄소함량과 미세경도는 플라즈마내의 CH과 CN radical종의 세기에 크게 의존함을 의미한다. 그리고 Hf(C,N) 박막의 경우도 Ti(C,N) 박막의 경우와 유사하게 최대 미세경도값(2460Hk0.025) 이 -600 V bias 전압과 10% 질소기체 혼합비를 사용한 경우에 얻어졌고, 이는 박막이 주로(111) 방향으로 성장됨에 기인한 것으로 사료된다.통해 평가한 염증세포 분포 점수에서 III 군이 1.6±0.6 으로 I 군 2.8±1.2 에 비해 통계적으로 유의하게 낮았다(p<0.05). 결론: 압력 조절형 출혈성 쇼크 모델에서 시행한 저체온법은 정상체온을 유지하고 있는 군에 비해 쇼크 상태에서의 기초대사량을 줄여줌으로써 허혈에 의한 조직의 직접적인 손상을 억제할 수 있으리라 생각된다. 또한 저체온법은 수액의 사용량을 줄여주고 IL-8등의 싸이토카인 분비를 억제시키며 백혈구의 침윤을 줄여 The experiments were carried out to develop simulation model for estimating the yield of soybean in upland and paddy field condition. Field experiments were done at National Institute of Crop Science in 2005. The evaluated soybean cultivars were Taekwangkong, Daewonkong, and Hwangkeumkong. Soybean seeds were planted by hill seeding with 3-4 seeds and row and hill spacing were 60~times10cm in upland and 60~times15cm in paddy field. Seeds were sown on row (without making ridge) and on the top of ridge in upland and paddy field, respectively. Field parameters were measured yield components (plants/m2 , pod no./plant, and 100-seed weight, seed yield and growth characteristics (stem length, leaf area at each stage, and dry weight of shoot) and after measuring they were compared the relationships with seed yield and yield components and seed yield and growth characteristics. Seed yield of soybean was affected by cultivars and planting density. Seed yield was higher in upland than paddy field due to the higher planting density in upland field. The upland soybeans generally had lower 100-seed weight than that of paddy field. Seed yield of soybean in a paddy field was greatest in Taekwangkong and followed by Daewonkong and Hwangkeumkong. The harvest index of taekwangkong and Hwanggumkong was higher in upland than paddy field, however, it was higher in paddy field than upland in Daewonkong. Seed yield was greatest in Daewonkong in both experimental fields. The greatest stem length was observed in taekwangkong and Hwanggumkong (R6) in late growth stage in paddy field. Dry weight of shoot and pod, pod number, stem length, and stem diameter were higher grown in paddy field than grown in upland. Crop growth rate (CGR) of cultivars was higher in paddy field after 8 WAS(weeks after sowing) and it was greatest at 13 WAS in Daewonkong among the cultivars. In upland field, CGR was greatest in Taekwangkong and then followed by Daewonkong and Hwanggumkong during 12 and 15 WAS. There was no significant relationships between 100-seed weight and seed yield in both experimental fields. A significant positive relationship was observed between seed number and seed yield. The correlation coefficients between leaf area and shoot dry weight were about 0.8 during the whole growth stage except 5 WAS and 4-5 WAS in paddy field and upland, respectively. This experiment was done just one year and drained paddy field condition was not satisfied drained condition successfully at 7th leaf age of soybean by the heavy rain, so we suggest that the excessive soil water reduced seed yield in paddy field and the weather condition should be considered for utilizing of these results.

        Relating Hyperspectral Image Bands and Vegetation Indices to Corn and Soybean Yield

        Combinations of visible and near-infrared (NIR) bands in an image are widely used for estimating vegetation vigor and productivity. Using this approach to understand within-field grain crop variability could allow pre-harvest estimates of yield, and might enable mapping of yield variations without use of a combine yield monitor. The objective of this study was to estimate within-field variations in crop yield using vegetation indices derived from hyperspectral images. Hyperspectral images were acquired using an aerial sensor on multiple dates during the 2003 and 2004 cropping seasons for corn and soybean fields in central Missouri. Vegetation indices, including intensity normalized red (NR), intensity normalized green (NG), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), green NDVI (gNDVI), and soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), were derived from the images using wavelengths from 440 nm to 850 nm, with bands selected using an iterative procedure. Accuracy of yield estimation models based on these vegetation indices was assessed by comparison with combine yield monitor data. In 2003, late-season NG provided the best estimation of both corn $(r^2\;=\;0.632)$ and soybean $(r^2\;=\;0.467)$ yields. Stepwise multiple linear regression using multiple hyperspectral bands was also used to estimate yield, and explained similar amounts of yield variation. Corn yield variability was better modeled than was soybean yield variability. Remote sensing was better able to estimate yields in the 2003 season when crop growth was limited by water availability, especially on drought-prone portions of the fields. In 2004, when timely rains during the growing season provided adequate moisture across entire fields and yield variability was less, remote sensing estimates of yield were much poorer $(r^2<0.3)$.
