        The fruit of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms improves arterial stiffness and blood pressure: a randomized, placebo-controlled trial

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Arterial stiffness and endothelial dysfunction are 2 of the independent predictors for cardiovascular disease, while Acanthopanax senticosus Harms (ASH) is a traditional medicinal plant that can improve cardiovascular health. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the fruit of ASH on vascular function in apparently healthy subjects. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design, consisting of healthy adults with at least 2 of the following 3 conditions: borderline high blood pressure (BP; 120 mmHg ≤ systolic BP ≤ 160 mmHg or 80 mmHg ≤ diastolic BP ≤ 100 mmHg), smoking (≥10 cigarettes/day), and borderline blood lipid levels (220 ≤ total cholesterol ≤ 240, 130 ≤ low density lipoprotein cholesterol ≤ 165, or 150 ≤ triglyceride ≤ 220 mg/dL). Randomly assigned 76 subjects who received a placebo or 2 doses of ASH fruit (low, 500 mg/day; high, 1,000 mg/day) completed the intervention. Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), flow-mediated dilation, carotid intima-media thickness, and BP were measured both at baseline and following the 12-week intervention. Endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) phosphorylation was assessed by western blotting. RESULTS: Compared with the placebo group, the low-dose group showed more significant changes after the 12-week intervention period in terms of systolic BP (0.1 vs. −7.7 mmHg; P = 0.044), baPWV (31.3 vs. −98.7 cm/s; P = 0.007), and the ratio of phospho-eNOS/eNOS (0.8 vs. 1.22; P = 0.037). CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that ASH fruit extract at 500 mg/day has the potential to improve BP and arterial stiffness via endothelial eNOS activation in healthy adults with smoking and the tendency of having elevated BP or blood lipid parameters.

        커피전문점의 실내디자인 요소 변화에 따른 공간 만족도 분석

        This study investigates the effects of interior design elements on the satisfaction and preference for space. Field measurements and surveys were conducted in three coffeeshops where various interior design elements were applied. Results indicate that movable tables and chairs for two people were preferred in the space. They need to be placed flexibly according to the visitors’ needs to improve satisfaction for convenience. To improve spatial satisfaction, the brightness of color applied to wall surfaces was recommended to be lower than that of color used for floor surfaces. The surfaces of space and interior design elements such as furniture also need to be kept clean. Lamps with lower color temperature were effective to enhance spatial satisfaction. Light sources should be shielded when a pendant lighting system with general diffuse type was used in space. Natural daylight through window was also required for better satisfaction level. Multiple linear regression implied that the cozy feeling by electric light, existence of daylight, flexible layouts for tables and chairs, color and quality of material for tables and floor were significant contributors to overall spatial satisfaction.

      • Occurrence of norovirus and other enteric viruses in untreated groundwaters of Korea

        <P>A total of 39 water samples from 23 different groundwater wells in Korea were collected and analyzed in order to monitor the occurrence of norovirus (NoV) and other indicator microbes as the first part of a national survey of groundwater. More than 500 L of untreated groundwater were filtered through 1MDS filters. Following elution and concentration by organic flocculation, PCR and sequence analysis were employed to detect and identify NoV, enterovirus, rotavirus, hepatitis A virus and adenovirus (Adv). Somatic and F-specific phages, heterotrophic bacteria, total coliforms and Escherichia coli were also analyzed to infer possible fecal contamination. NoVs were detected in 18% of the 39 samples. Five out of seven NoV-positive samples (71%) were identified as GI while the other two (29%) were GII. Enteroviruses and Advs were detected in two and three samples, respectively. Rotavirus and hepatitis A virus were not detected. Total coliforms, E. coli and coliphages were detected in 49, 15 and 13% of the samples, respectively, but did not appear to be suitable indicators of enteric virus contamination in groundwater. These results suggest that additional treatment may be needed for a significant number of groundwaters prior to use as drinking water.</P>

        대학생의 역량중심 교양교육과정 만족도 및 요구 분석

        변화하는 사회의 다양한 요구에 부합하기 위해 대학에서도 사회에 필요한 인재를 육성하기 위한 역량기반 교육과정이 필수적이다. 본 연구의 목적은 역량중심 교양교육과정에 대한 대학생 만족도 및 요구도를 확인하여 교육과정 편성과 운영에 시사점을 제공하는 것이다. 본 연구 진행을 위해 K 대학 재학생을 대상으로 4주간 온라인 설문을 실시하였고, 1,160개의 응답을 연구에 활용하였다. 연구를 통해 나타난 결과는 첫째, 교양교육과정에 대한 만족도를 수정된 IPA로 분석한 결과, 단계별⋅수준별 교과목 구성의 만족도와 상대적 중요도 모두 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 교양교과목에 대한 교육요구도 분석 결과 융복합, 의사소통, 정보기술활용, 진로탐색 및 경력개발 영역에 대한 요구가 높았고, 개방형 응답의 주제분석을 통해 스포츠, 공학, 외국어, 심리학, 금융경제 관련 주제 요구가 높게 나타난 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 역량중심 교양교육과정에 대한 교육요구도 분석 결과, 창의적 실행능력, 개방적 탐구심, 시민의식에 대한 요구가 높게 나타났다. 결론적으로, 본 연구에서는 연구 결과를 기반으로 역량중심 교양교육과정 설계 및 운영 시 교수자, 학과, 대학에서 고려해야 하는 교과목 주제, 교육과정 관련 교육, 중장기 계획 및 로드맵 수립 등의 시사점을 제시하였다. As society changes in its demands of human resources with various competencies, the effort for improving the competency of college students is provided by centering the curriculum on a college general education. The purpose of this study is to confirm the satisfaction and needs of college students with a competency-based general education curriculum, and to list the implications of the organization and operation of such a curriculum. This study was conducted for students at K University using an online survey over the course of four weeks, involving the responses of 1,160 students. The results of this study are as follows: first, as a result of analyzing the satisfaction among students of the general education curriculum with the revised IPA analysis, both the satisfaction and the relative importance of the course composition in both stage and level were high. Second, as a result of analyzing the educational needs of general education courses, the demand for convergent, communication, utilizing information technology, career exploration, and career development domains were high. Also, we confirmed through open questions with thematic analysis that the demand for sports, engineering, foreign language, psychology, financial and economy-related subjects was high. Third, as a result of analyzing the educational needs of a competency-based general education curriculum, the demand for creative execution competency, open-minded inquiry, and citizenship was high. In conclusion, this study presented significant implications on what the faculty, the department and the college itself should consider in designing and operating a competency-based general education curriculum―one that provides curriculum-related education and one that outlines a mid to long-term road map.

        Plastic Deformation Behavior of 40Fe–25Ni–15Cr–10Co–10V High‑Entropy Alloy for Cryogenic Applications

        A single FCC phase 40Fe–25Ni–15Cr–10Co–10V high-entropy alloy was designed, fabricated, and evaluated for potentialcryogenic applications. The alloy forms a single FCC phase and exhibits higher yield strength, tensile strength, and elongationat cryogenic temperature (77 K) than at room temperature (298 K). The superior tensile properties at cryogenic temperatureare discussed based on the formation of deformation twins during the tensile test at cryogenic temperature. In addition, aconstitutive model reflecting the cryogenic deformation mechanism (i.e., twinning-induced plasticity) was implementedinto the finite element method to analyze this behavior. Experimental results and the finite element analysis suggest that theincrease in plastic deformation capacity at cryogenic temperature contributes to the formation of deformation twins.

        실시간 온라인 수업에서의 상호작용과 만족도 간 관계: 지각된 유용성의 조절효과, 학습태도의 매개효과를 중심으로

        COVID-19 이후 비대면 온라인 수업이 보편화되면서 실시간 온라인 수업 형태가 오프라인 학습 환경을 대체할 수 있는 수업 형태 중 하나로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 실시간 상황에서 학습자의 인식 및 태도에 대한 논의는 아직 시작 단계에 있는 상황이다. 본 연구의 목적은 비대면 실시간 온라인 수업 환경을 기반으로 하여 교수-학생 상호작용이 수업만족도에 미치는 영향에서 교수-학생 상호작용과 학습태도 간 관계에서 지각된 유용성의 조절효과, 학습태도의 매개효과, 교수-학생 상호작용이 수업만족도에 미치는 영향에서 학습태도의 매개효과가 지각된 유용성에 의해 조절되는지 여부에 대한 조절된 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구를 통해 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교수-학생 상호작용과 학습태도 간 관계에서 지각된 유용성의 조절효과가 있었다. 둘째, 교수-학생 상호작용과 수업만족도 간 관계에서 학습태도의 매개효과가 있었다. 셋째, 교수-학생 상호작용이 수업만족도에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 학습태도의 매개효과는 지각된 유용성에 의해 조절되어 조절된 매개효과가 나타났다. 결론적으로, 본 연구에서는 연구 결과를 통해 실시간 수업 환경에서 교수자들이 고려해야 하는 요소가 무엇인지에 대한 유의미한 시사점을 제시하였다. As non-face-to-face online instruction became common after COVID-19, synchronous online instruction is seen as one of the instruction types that can replace offline learning environments. However, the discussion of learners’ perceptions and attitudes in a synchronous situation is still in its infancy. As a result, this study investigated the moderating effect of perceived usefulness in the relationship between faculty-student interaction and learning attitude in a non-face-to-face synchronous online instruction environment, as well as the mediating effect of learning attitudes on the effect of faculty-student interaction on satisfaction. This study also confirmed the moderated mediation impact on whether the mediating effect of learning attitude in the influence of faculty-student interaction on satisfaction is moderated by perceived usefulness. The results of this study are as follows: (1) there was a moderating effect of perceived usefulness in the relationship between faculty-student interaction and learning attitudes, (2) there was a mediating effect of the learning attitude in the relationship between faculty-student interaction and satisfaction, and (3) the mediating effect of the learning attitude was moderated by the perceived usefulness in the faculty-student interaction affecting the satisfaction. In conclusion, this study presented significant implications on what factors faculty and a college should consider in a synchronous instruction environment through the research results.

      • 유한요소법을 이용한 수소연료전지 기반 트랙터 프레임의 구조 취약부 분석

        농업용 트랙터는 대부분 디젤 엔진을 탑재하고 있으며, 경운/정지 작업 등 고부하 환경에서 운용되므로 많은 대기오염 물질 배출과 함께 환경 오염을 발생시킨다. 이러한 환경 오염 문제 해결 및 사회적 비용 감소를 위한 친환경 동력원 시스템을 이용한 트랙터의 필요성이 대두되면서, 고부하 조건에 적합한 수소연료전지 기반의 대형 트랙터 개발에 관한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 기존 디젤 엔진 트랙터는 하우징 형식의 프레임으로 이루어져 있어 수소연료전지 시스템을 장착하기가 어렵다. 이에 따라 수소연료전지 시스템을 탑재할 수 있는 T 형태의 트랙터 차체 프레임이 개발되었다. 하지만, T 형태의 프레임은 트랙터에 새롭게 적용되는 프레임 형식이기 때문에 고부하 조건에서의 프레임 안정성 검토에 관한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 수소연료전지시스템 탑재가 가능한 트랙터 차체 프레임을 대상으로 구조 해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 수소탱크, 쿨링모듈 등 수소연료전지시스템의 핵심부품을 포함하여 프레임 위 요소들의 장착 위치에 따른 무게분석을 통해 하중 분배를 수행하였으며, 트랙터 중량을 증가시키면서 하중조건을 정의하였다. 이후, 새로운 T 형태의 프레임 단품을 대상으로 정적해석을 수행하여 취약부 분석 및 안정성 검토를 진행하였다.
