<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The structural stability and hydrogen release properties of M-doped KMgH<SUB>3</SUB> (M = Li, Na, Rb, or Cs) were examined using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The reaction enthalpies (ΔH) of the four possible dehydrogenation reaction pathways were calculated using the doped structures with different phases ( P m 3 ¯ m , P<I>nma</I>, and R3<I>c</I>). The most favorable reaction pathway among these four pathways was found. Among the dopants investigated, the most promising dopant for this reaction was Li. In addition, the application of pressure was found to be useful for tuning the reaction enthalpies of the dehydrogenation reactions. Overall, the results present an efficient means of designing new promising perovskite-type hydrides for hydrogen storage.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Perovskite-type KMgH<SUB>3</SUB> is a promising candidate for hydrogen storage. </LI> <LI> The most favorable reaction pathway of dehydrogenation reactions was examined. </LI> <LI> Li was the most useful and effective dopant to release hydrogen. </LI> <LI> Pressure can be usefully employed for tuning the reaction enthalpies of dehydrogenation reactions. </LI> </UL> </P>

In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of the novel amorphous silicon thin-film transistor gate drive circuit applied on a 10.1-in. panel are optimized by using a multi-objective optimization method. Simultaneously, considering the multiple electrical characteristics of the tested circuit, the achieved results reveal interesting properties as well as good sensitivity of the optimized design parameters. The optimal specifications not only suppress the output ripple, but also reduce the dynamic and static power consumptions.

In the surface heat treatment process of metals, the induction heating strengthened by ferromagnetic metal powder bonded magnetic flux concentrator (MPB-MFC) possesses more advantages due to its high efficiency. However, the further research of strengthen mechanism of MPB-MFC is still needed. It is necessary to establish the analytical model for accurately control and optimization of the plane induction heating process with MPB-MFC. In this paper, the coupled electro-magnetic-thermal multi-physics FEM model of the MPBMFC assisted induction heating is established, which involves the consideration of the temperature dependent thermal and magnetic material properties. The comparison between the results of several middle-frequency experiments and the simulation proves that the precision of simulation model is reliable. In addition, the influence of combined input variables on the final temperature is studied based on the response surface methodology (RSM), which could provide a comprehensive understanding for the process control and optimization in industrial production.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a full-joint, multifactorial, degenerative and inflammatory disease that seriously affects the quality of life of patients due to its disabling and pain-causing properties. ER stress has been reported to be closely related to the progression of OA. The inositol-requiring enzyme 1α/X-box-binding protein-1 spliced (IRE1α/XBP1s) pathway, which is highly expressed in the chondrocytes of OA patients, promotes the degradation and refolding of abnormal proteins during ER stress and maintains the stability of the ER environment of chondrocytes, but its function and the underlying mechanisms of how it contributes to the progression of OA remain unclear. This study investigates the role of IRE1α/ERN1 in OA. Specific deficiency of ERN1 in chondrocytes spontaneously resulted in OA-like cartilage destruction and accelerated OA progression in a surgically induced arthritis model. Local delivery of AdERN1 relieved degradation of the cartilage matrix and prevented OA development in an ACLT-mediated model. Mechanistically, progranulin (PGRN), an intracellular chaperone, binds to IRE1α, promoting its phosphorylation and splicing of XBP1u to generate XBP1s. XBP1s protects articular cartilage through TNF-α/ERK1/2 signaling and further maintains collagen homeostasis by regulating type II collagen expression. The chondroprotective effect of IRE1α/ERN1 is dependent on PGRN and XBP1s splicing. ERN1 deficiency accelerated cartilage degeneration in OA by reducing PGRN expression and XBP1s splicing, subsequently decreasing collagen II expression and triggering collagen structural abnormalities and an imbalance in collagen homeostasis. This study provides new insights into OA pathogenesis and the UPR and suggests that IRE1α/ERN1 may serve as a potential target for the treatment of joint degenerative diseases, including OA.
Prediction on the physical properties of CuInS2 with various anion positions

The effects of various anion displacements (u) on electronic structures, elastic constants, Debye temperature and the minimum thermal conductivity of CuInS2 are studied by first-principles calculation. The lattice constant couples with the anion displacement, however, they are not consistent with the relation proposed by Abrahams and Bernstein. When the anion displacement varies from 0.2 to 0.3, the Cu-S bond length is elongated, while the In-S bond length is shortened, which cause the increase of band gap with anion displacement. The anisotropies of sound velocities and lattice thermal conductivities are also discussed. The results imply that the lattice thermal conductivity along [110] direction is the smallest and decreases with u. These research findings shed light on improving the thermoelectric properties by manipulating u and the direction of propagation.

The latex mattress is usually accompanied by fire risk due to its coating material and multi-layer structure. The fire behaviors of multi-layer (with a total thickness of 5 cm) latex foam coated with different fabric layer under bottom ventilation conditions were investigated experimentally. Experimental results showed that fabric coated on the surface of the multi-layer sample could significantly affect the fire behaviors. The combustion duration and peak mass loss rate of single layer sample were obtained 30% shorter and 25% larger than that of the coated samples, respectively. The effects of blending coated from the latex foam surface on the fire behaviors were found larger than those from the cotton coated sample. The total combustion duration and average fuel regression rate of cotton coated samples reduced by 34%, 43.2% when compared to those of the blending coated samples, respectively. With the increase of the number of latex foam layers, the fuel regression rate in the depth direction of the sample increases.

In the present study, the changes of mathematics teachers`` verbal feedback between ten years ago and later were examined using a coding scheme on the types of teacher verbal feedback. Based on the analysis, it is found that teachers intend to use encouraging strategies to make responses to students ten years later. In addition, the duration used in communication between the teacher and individual student is being longer while the frequency of communication becomes less compared ten years ago. Meanwhile, the difference between good lesson ten years ago and common lesson ten years later is not so apparent. It can be inferred that the quality of teaching has being developed.
