A New Composite Truss Bridge and a Study on Its Dynamic Characteristics with FE and Experimental Methods

Xiaoli Xie,Yang Huang,Xia Qin 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.3

Improvements to the dynamic characteristics and stiffness of composite girder bridges are necessary to expand their applications and capabilities. The natural frequency of a bridge directly reflects the dynamic characteristics of a structure. From the calculation principle for the natural frequency, the natural frequencies of a bridge can be significantly increased if the load increases slightly while the structural stiffness increases significantly. Based on this, a new type of concrete-steel composite truss bridge is proposed. The new bridge has a reasonable new arrangement for the position of the concrete and steel, according to the bending moment law for continuous girders. The mechanical analysis of the new bridge shows that it has the characteristic of adding a small amount of load at a reasonable position, which can significantly improve the stiffness. Therefore, it is possible to achieve the purpose of improving the dynamic characteristics so that they are far better than those of a conventional composite truss bridge. To further study the dynamic characteristics of the new composite truss bridge, the finite element (FE) method was used to analyse the new bridges, and the results are compared with those of conventional composite truss bridges. Furthermore, several parameters that influence the dynamic characteristics of the new composite truss bridge were studied. Finally, the dynamic characteristics of the small-span new bridge were studied by finite element analysis (FEA) and experiment. The results show that the new composite truss bridges with different span arrangements and different second-stage dead loads always have better natural frequencies and stiffness advantages. Therefore, the new composite truss bridge is suitable for girder bridges with strict requirements for their stiffness and dynamic characteristics, especially for super-long span high-speed railway girder bridges.

Preliminary study of genome-wide association identified novel susceptibility genes for thyroid-related hormones in Chinese population

        Huang Liang,Bai Fenghua,Zhang Yutian,Zhang Shanshan,Jin Tianbo,Wei Xingwei,Zhou Xiaoli,Lin Mei,Xie Yufei,He Chanyi,Lin Qi,Xie Tian,Ding Yipeng 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.8

Background: Thyroid hormones are critical regulators of metabolism, development and growth in mammals. However, the genetic association of thyroid-related hormones in the Chinese Han population is not fully understood. Objective: We aimed to identify the genetic loci associated with circulating thyroid-related hormones concentrations in the healthy Chinese Han population. Methods: Genotyping was performed in 124 individuals using Applied Biosystems™ Axiom™ PMDA, and 796,288 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were available for the GWAS analysis. For replication, eleven SNPs were selected as candidate loci for genotyping by Agena MassARRAY platform in additional samples (313 subjects). The values of p < 5 × 10- 6 suggest a suggestively significant genome-wide association with circulating thyroid-related hormones concentrations. Results: We identified that rs11178277 (PTPRB, p = 4.88 × 10- 07) and rs7320337 (LMO7DN-KCTD12, p = 1.22 × 10- 06) were associated with serum FT3 level. Three SNPs (rs4850041 in LOC105373394-LINC01249: p = 3.55 × 10- 06, rs6867291 in LINC02208: p = 2.40 × 10- 06 and rs79508321 in WWOX: p = 3.35 × 10- 06) were related to circulating T3 level. Rs12474167 (LOC105373394-LINC01249, p = 1.65 × 10- 06) and rs1864553 (IWS1, p = 2.00 × 10- 06) were associated with circulating T4 concentration. The association with TGA concentration was for rs17163542 in DISP1 (p = 3.46 × 10- 06) and rs12601151 in NOG-C17orf67 (p = 2.72 × 10- 07). Two genome-level significant SNPs (rs2114707 in LINC01314, p = 1.69 × 10- 06 and rs12601151, p = 1.41 × 10- 07) associated with serum TMA concentration were identified. Moreover, rs6083269 (CST1-CST2, p = 3.36 × 10- 06) was a significant locus for circulating TSH level. In replication, rs12601151 in NOG-C17orf67 was still associated with serum TGA level (p = 0.012). Conclusions: The GWAS reported 11 new suggestively significant loci associated with circulating thyroid-related hormones levels among the Chinese Han population. These findings represented suggestively biological candidates for circulating thyroid-related hormones levels and provided new insights into the mechanisms of regulating serum TGA concentration.

Event-triggered Stabilization of Linear Time-delay Systems by Static Output Feedback Control

        Xiaoli Wang,Peng Xiang,Wenfeng Hu,Tingwen Huang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.11

In this paper, we study the stabilization problem for a class of linear systems with a time-varying state delay. An event-triggered static output feedback controller is proposed, such that the sampling frequency and the update time of the controller are both lowered. First, we present a novel event-triggering mechanism depending not only on the output but also on an exponential term, with which less sampling is required and Zeno behavior can be excluded at the same time. Some sufficient conditions are then obtained, under which an exponential convergence can be achieved by means of the comparison principle approach. It is further shown that the parameters design can be easily given if the case reduces to the state feedback control. Moreover, two examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the results.

A displacement solution for circular openings in an elastic-brittle-plastic rock

        Huang, Houxu,Li, Jie,Rong, Xiaoli,Hao, Yiqing,Dong, Xin Techno-Press 2017 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.13 No.3

The localized shear and the slip lines are easily observed in elastic-brittle-plastic rock. After yielding, the strength of the brittle rock suddenly drops from the peak value to the residual value, and there are slip lines which divide the macro rock into numbers of elements. There are slippages of elements along the slip lines and the displacement field in the plastic region is discontinuous. With some restraints, the discontinuities can be described by the combination of two smooth functions, one is for the meaning of averaging the original function, and the other is for characterizing the breaks of the original function. The slip lines around the circular opening in the plastic region of an isotropic H-B rock which subjected to a hydrostatic in situ stress can be described by the logarithmic spirals. After failure, the deformation mechanism of the plastic region is mainly attributed to the slippage, and a slippage parameter is introduced. A new analytical solution is presented for the plane strain analysis of displacements around circular openings. The displacements obtained by using the new solution are found to be well coincide with the exact solutions from the published sources.

The Prebiotic Lactosucrose Modulates Gut Metabolites and Microbiota in Intestinal Inflammatory Rats

        Xiaoli Zhou,Zheng Ruan,Xiaoliu Huang,Yan Zhou,Shiqiang Liu,Yulong Yin 한국식품과학회 2014 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.23 No.1

The effect of lactosucrose on the short chainfatty acid (SCFA) content, the intestinal flora, the acidity, and the amino nitrogen (NH3-N) content of the intestine ininflammatory bowel disease (IBD) rats was investigated. Dietary lactosucose supplementation increased amounts ofbeneficial bacteria and diminished amounts of pathogenicbacteria. Lactosucrose decreased the NH3-N content in cecaland colonic digesta, compared to inflammatory rats. Lactosucrose increased the acidity in the intestinal lumen, and the acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acidcontents in cecal and colonic digesta, compared toinflammatory rats. The butyrate content in the lactosucrosegroup was higher than for the inflammatory, sulfasalazine, and normal groups. Lactosucrose promoted beneficialintestinal health and prevented intestinal inflammation.

Effects of Scaffolding Types and Individual Metacognition Levels on Learning Achievement in Online Collaborative Argumentation

        ( Yipin Huang ),( Xiaoli Zheng ),( Hoisoo Kim ) 한국교육공학회 2021 Educational Technology International Vol.22 No.2

This study examined the effects of scaffolding types (Toulmin’s Argument Pattern: TAP or Argumentation Vee Diagram: AVD) and individual metacognition levels (low or high) on students’ learning achievement in online collaborative argumentation. A total of 191 Chinese undergraduates took part in this study. They were randomly assigned to either the TAP scaffolding, AVD scaffolding, or no scaffolding condition. They were teamed up in small groups of two or three students to argue with their peers using SNS as the online collaborative argumentation environment. The results revealed that students in the TAP and AVD scaffolding conditions did not gain significantly higher retention or transfer scores than students without scaffolding. However, students in the TAP scaffolding condition significantly outperformed those in the AVD scaffolding condition on transfer scores. Individual metacognition did not significantly affect learning achievement in online collaborative argumentation. Additionally, there was no significant interaction effect between scaffolding types and individual metacognition levels on retention or on transfer. The findings have implications for scaffolding design for online collaborative argumentation and also suggest that more attention should be paid to social metacognition rather than to individual metacognition when students work collaboratively.

Proteomic analyses on the browning of shade-dried Thompson seedless grape

        Liu Fengjuan,Huang Wenshu,Feng Zuoshan,Tao Yongxia,Fan Yingying,He Weizhong,Li XiaoLi,Fang Xiaotong,Wang Cheng,Bai Yujia 한국응용생명화학회 2021 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.64 No.3

China is one of the main producers in the worldwide raisin market. Most China’s raisins are produced in Xinjiang where the Thompson seedless grape ( Vitis vinifera L.cv.Thompson seedless) is the main variety of green raisin. However, the browning of Thompson seedless grape during drying has been well-acknowledged as the primary factor affecting the development of the raisin industry. Data independent acquisition (DIA)-based protein profiling was performed on fresh and shade-dried Thompson seedless grapes. As a result, 5431 proteins were identified, among which the amounts of 739 proteins in fresh grape were found to be significantly different with those in dried grape. The functional annotation based on the Blast2GO showed that the ‘organic substance metabolic process’, ‘regulation of molecular function’, ‘enzyme regulator activity’, and ‘isomerase activity’ related proteins became very active during browning. Further analyses revealed that the browning-related proteins, which with significant different amounts in fresh and in dried grapes, are primarily involved in the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, tyrosine metabolism, phenylalanine metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation metabolism, plutathione metabolism, peroxisome pathway, and fatty acid degradation. And five random differential proteins were verified with parallel reaction monitoring (PRM). The PRM results were in agreement with the DIA data. The main browning-related proteins of Thompson seedless grape were identified in this study. Their properties were tested, and their roles in the browning mechanism were indicated. This will lay base to a better understanding on the enzymatic browning of Thompson seedless grape, and it will also provide guidance for controlling the quality of Thompson seedless grapes in industry.

3',4',5',5,7-Pentamethoxyflavone Sensitizes Cisplatin-Resistant A549 Cells to Cisplatin by Inhibition of Nrf2 Pathway

        Xiangyu Hou,Xupeng Bai,Xiaoli Gou,Hang Zeng,Chen Xia,Wei Zhuang,Xinmeng Chen,Zhongxiang Zhao,Min Huang,Jing Jin 한국분자세포생물학회 2015 Molecules and cells Vol.38 No.5

Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is an important redox-sensitive transcription factor that regulates the expression of several cytoprotective genes. More recently, genetic analyses of human tumors have indicated that Nrf2 may cause resistance to chemotherapy. In this study, we found that the expression levels of Nrf2 and its target genes GCLC, HO-1, NQO1 were significantly higher in cisplatinresistant A549 (A549/CDDP) cells than those in A549 cells, and this resistance was partially reversed by Nrf2 siRNA. 3',4',5',5,7-Pentamethoxyflavone (PMF), a natural flavonoid extracted from Rutaceae plants, sensitized A549/CDDP to CDDP and substantially induced apoptosis compared with that of CDDP alone treated group, and this reversal effect decreased when Nrf2 was downregulated by siRNA. Mechanistically, PMF reduced Nrf2 expression leading to a reduction of Nrf2 downstream genes, and in contrast, this effect was decreased by blocking Nrf2 with siRNA. Taken together, these results demonstrated that PMF could be used as an effective adjuvant sensitizer to increase the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs by downregulating Nrf2 signaling pathway.

A Joint Design for Multi-band Heterogeneous Networks when Deploying Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface

        Wenyu Jiang,Kaizhi Huang,Yajun Chen,Xiaoli Sun,Jie Yang,Kai Zhao 한국통신학회 2022 Journal of communications and networks Vol.24 No.5

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) technique is effective to improve the capacity and coverage of various networks. However, the practical RIS has dissimilar responses to signals in different frequencies due to its structure. Therefore, directly applying existing schemes to multi-band heterogeneous networks leads to beam misalignment and performance degra- dation issues. This paper considers RIS-assisted multi-band heterogeneous networks where base stations (BSs) use different frequencies. We formulate the problem for maximizing the sum rate of all users (SR) in every frequency band, and aim to jointly design BSs precoding vectors and RIS parameters while taking user choices into account. Based on the closed-form relationship of phase shifts between frequencies, an iterative algo- rithm is proposed to solve the challenging non-convex problems. In particular, we use fractional programming to decouple the problem, and solve the subproblems with Quadratic Transform (QT) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve SR among all frequency bands, which could instruct the coexistence of mul- tiple communication systems in future heterogeneous networks. What’s more, results also prove that deploying RISs recklessly will result in a degradation of the network.
