This study analyzed the profitability and diagnosed business performance of fruit and vegetable (cherry tomatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers) businesses targeting young farmers participating in the youth business incubation center of A Smart Farm Innovation Valley. The purpose of this is to provide basic data for decision-making by prospective young entrepreneurs. As a result of the analysis, Smart Farm Innovation Valley had the advantage of having a fixed rental fee. As a result, it was analyzed that various costs such as depreciation of large farm equipment, depreciation of farming facilities, repair and maintenance costs, land rent, floating capital service cost, fixed capital service cost, and land capital service cost are being reduced. However, excessive input of labor, water, electricity, other materials, and fertilizer costs was being made. Guidance to reduce these costs is expected to make a significant contribution to expanding the influx of young farmers.
Agaricus bisporus Attenuates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis

Agaricus bisporus (white button mushroom, WBM) is widely consumed in most countries and is reported to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. However, little is known regarding its effects in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis, which are related to dysfunction of intestinal immunity. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of WBMs in an animal model of DSS-induced colitis. Male, 4-week-old ICR mice (n = 10 per group) were fed a normal diet with or without 10% WBM for 4 weeks, and colitis was induced by 3% DSS in drinking water for 7 days. WBMs prevented DSS-induced shortening of colon length (P = .033) and diminished diarrhea (P = .049) and gross bleeding (P = .001), resulting in a decreased disease activity index. Results of histological analysis showed that WBMs suppressed mucosal damage. In addition, WBMs attenuated the DSS-induced increase in myeloperoxidase activity (P = .012) and upregulation of proinflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-a (P = .020) in the colon segment. Taken together, these findings suggest a possible role for the WBM as an immunomodulator that can prevent and/or treat ulcerative colitis.

This study was done to examine changes towards positive ethics in registered nurses working in hospitals who took part in performing 'theatre of situations' in terms of issues of nursing ethics. Methods: This research was conducted with one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample, 232 registered nurses, voluntarily participated in a contest of ‘Theatre of Situations’ with themes of nursing ethics hosted by Hospital Nurses Association of Korea on September 8, 2011. For this contest, eight nursing situational scenario regarding ethical issues or dilemma were created. The theatre of situation was performed by volunteer nurses over a period of 160 minutes. Data were collected before and after the performance using 10 items to measure Positive Ethics. Item internal consistency had a Cronbach’s alpha in this study of .716. Results: Before the theatre of situations was performed, the mean (±standard deviation) level of positive ethics was 2.34 (±.37). For the nurses who participated, there was a significant increase in the degree of positive ethics after the theatre of situations (2.62 ±.36, p<.001). Conclusion: This result implies that indirect experiences such as ‘theatre of situations’ in terms of ethical issues, created as well as performed, is effective for registered nurses in changing their ethical perspective positively and in realizing ethical ideals.

Pulmonary actinomycosis is a chronic pulmonary infection caused by Actinomyces, a filamentous, branching, Gram-positive, nonacid-fast anaerobic, or facultative bacilli. Both improvement of oral hygiene and the early application of antibiotics to the case of suspicious pulmonary infections result in the changes of incidence and presentations of pulmonary actinomycosis. However, there are little reports dealt with the recent clinical characteristics of pulmonary actinomycosis. This study aimed to review the characteristics of pulmonary actinomycosis occurred during the first decade of 21st century. This retrospective study was performed on ninety-four subjects with pulmonary actinomycosis diagnosed pathologically from January 2000 to December 2010 in thirteen hospitals of Korea. Pulmonary actinomycosis occurred frequently in middle to old-aged males (mean age; 57.7 years old) and the most common symptoms are cough, hemoptysis, and sputum production. Various radiologic features were observed including the consolidation with central low attenuation and no regional predominance. Most of patients were recovered with the medical and/or surgical treatment completely. These data indicate that hemoptysis is one of the cautious symptoms of pulmonary actinomycosis. As for the treatment, in complicated cases such as hemoptysis, the surgical treatment should not be delayed. Radiologic diagnosis is still vague, thus, it is worthy for the clinicians to include pulmonary actinomycosis as one of differential diagnoses for refractory pulmonary abnormal lesions to current usual management.

Human dental pulp-derived stem cells (hDPSCs) have been considered as alternative sources of adult stem cells because of their potential to differentiate into multiple cell lineages. Gangliosides, which sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipids are abundantly expressed in the plasma membrane and which play an important role in various processes, such as proliferation and differentiation. This study investigated the possible role of gangliosides in dopaminergic neural differentiation. When hDPSCs were cultured under dopaminergic neural differentiation conditions, the expression of dopaminergic neural cell markers genes such as TH, Pitx-3, Nurr-1, and DAT were detected. Immunofluorescence analysis showed that ganglioside biosynthesis was associated with the dopaminergic neural differentiation of hDPSCs. Specifically, GD3 and GT1b were expressed during dopaminergic neural differentiation. These results suggest that gangliosides may play a role in the dopaminergic neural differentiation process of hDPSCs.
