The goal of this study was to explore the role of inducible NOS (iNOS) and the delayed protection of exercise preconditioning from the relative myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury. Mice were randomly placed in one of five testing groups: wild-type mice group (n = 15), high-intensity wild-type mice acute exercised group (n = 6). low-intensity wild-type mice acute exercised group (n = 5), L-NAME + wild-type mice acute exercised group (11 = 5), and homozygous (-/-) iNOS gene knock-out mice acute exercised group (n = 5). All acute exercised groups ran on the treadmill (0% grade) at 65 m,`min as a high-intensity exercise and at 27-30 m/min as a low-intensity exercise. The results showed that all acute exercise significantly reduced magnitude of a myocardial infarction in biphasic manner. In accordance with these data, NFKB and HSP-70 protein expression was increased at 24 after exercise-induced preconditioning (PC) in both low-intensity wild-type mice acute exercised group and homozygous (-/-) iNOS gene knock-out mice acute exercised group compared with wild-type mice group. In contrast, neither endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) nor inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression changed at both wild-type mice group and low-intensity wild-type mice acute exercised group. In conclusion, The strong evidence of this study indicates that HSP-70 is particulary cytoprotectiye against protein-damaging stress such as I-R. Also, this study demonstrate that the late phase of exercise-induced PC is not associated with up-regulation of eNOS and iNOS but infarct-sparing effect and mild up-regulation of NFKB and HSP-70 at the late phase of exercise-induced PC in wild-type mice and iNOS gene knock-out mice. Thus, this study identifies a specific protein that mediates late PC in vitro.

처음으로 반절연성 InP:Fe를 SSD법으로 생장시키었다. Fe를 각각 0.5와 1.0 wt-% 첨가한 결정의 비저항은 실온에서 각각 3.1×10^7와 1.5×10^7Ω·cm이었으며, 저항의 온도 위존성에서 얻은 Fe의 에너지 준위는 전도대의 바닥 아래로 0.66 eV이었다. For the first time we obtained the semi-insulating InP:Fe crystals grown by SSD method. Their resistivities were 3.1×10^7 and 1.5×10^7Ω·cm in the Fe-doped crystals with contents of 0.5 and 1.0 wt-%, respectively. Temperature dependence of the crystal revealed the energy level of Fe as 0.66 eV from the bottom of the conduction band.

N/A To assess the usefulness of myocardial SPECT imaging to detect post-myocardial infarction ventricular aneurysms, we analyzed the Technetium-99m MIBI myocardial SPECT images of 16 patients with anterior and/or apical infarction, 9 had the previously reported findings of failure of convergence of the left ventricular walls toward the apex on SPECT images and 8 of them also had ventricular aneurysms. The ventriculography of the 2 patients with mixed pattern revealed 1 case of ventricular aneurysm and 1 case without aneurysm. Among the remaining 5 patients with converging pattern, none had ventricular aneurysm. Of the other 11 patients with inferior and/or lateral wall infarction, 1 patient had ventricular aneurysm and the SPECT image couldn't detect the aneurysm. Tc-99m-MIBI myocardial SPECT images for the detection of ventricular aneurysm had a sensitivity of 90%, a specificity of 88%, and an accuracy of 89%. Thus we could get the information about presence of ventricular aneurysm as well as the status of the myocardial perfusion from the Tc-99m MIBI myocardial SPECT images.

For the study of the hemodynamic changes of the cranial pancreaticoduodenal arterial flow(cPDAF) in the dog with acute pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis was experimentally induced in 10 dogs by the injection of oleic acid into the accessory pancreatic duct. The parameters of cPDAF were measured by transcutaneous pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasonography. The hemodynamic changes included resistive indexe(RI), pulsatility index(PI) and maximum velocity (Vmax). Ultrasonographic scans were performed before the induction of pancreatitis and once daily for five days after the induction. The RI, PI and Vmax were increased with day as follows; the RI prior to induction was 0.625$\pm$0.096 (mean$\pm$SD), the PI was 1.117$\pm$0.289 and the Vmax was 0.349$\pm$0.094 m/s. After five days, the RI was 0.727$\pm$0.051 (p<0.0l), the PI was 1.480$\pm$0.284 (p<0.0l) and the Vmax was 0.585:$\pm$0.114 m/s (p<0.00l). These results show that there is some relation between the increase of the RI, PI and Vmax of cPDAF and the progress of acute pancreatitis in dogs. Therefore, the measurements of the hemodynamic changes of cPDAF may be a valuable technique for the evaluation of acute pancreatitis in dogs.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In the present study, the effects of different degumming methods on the structural characteristics and properties of regenerated silk fibroin (SF) were examined. The crystallinity index of the degummed silk increased with the degumming ratio. The crystallinity index at any given degumming ratio differed depending on the degumming method. The soda method and the soap/soda method using sodium carbonate resulted in a higher crystallinity index than the other methods The degumming method strongly affects the molecular weight (MW) and solution viscosity of the regenerated SF. The MW and viscosity of the regenerated SF, according to the degumming method, was in the order of urea method>HTHP method≈acid method>soap/soda method≈soda method. The turbidity of a silk formic acid solution decreased as a result of increasing the degumming ratio and was a minimum at a degumming ratio of around 26%. However, it was not affected by the degumming method. The mechanical properties of a regenerated SF film were strongly affected by the degumming method and the trend in the strength and elongation with the various degumming methods was the same as that of the MW and viscosity of the regenerated SF.</P>
