Inflammatory pseudotumor is a benign disease, which is histologically composed of the?inflammatory cells such as mature lymphocytes, plasma cells, and histiocytes. It usually occurs in the respiratory system, liver, central nervous system, and gastrointestinal tracts. However, inflammatory pseudotumor rarely occurs in the spleen. Pathologic diagnosis is essential for the definitive diagnosis because of the difficulty in distinguishing pseudotumor from lymphoproliferative disorders of the spleen. We report a case of inflammatory pseudotumor of the spleen. A 35-year-old woman complained of the intermittent epigastric pain for several months. Physical examination and laboratory findings were normal. Ultrasonography and abdominal computerized tomography showed a low attenuation splenic mass suggesting lymphoma. However, the pathologic findings of the resected spleen were consistent with those of the inflammatory pseudotumor. The spleen weighed 230 g containing a 6×5×5 cm-sized, well-circumscribed gray mass. The microscopic findings indicated the inflammatory cell infiltrations. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2003;42:168-171)
한국어 학습자 말뭉치 분석을 통한 추측 양태부사 교육 연구 : ‘아마’와 ‘혹시’를 중심으로

목적 본 연구는 국립국어원 <한국어 학습자 말뭉치>에 나타나는 추측 양태부사 ‘아마’와 ‘혹시’의 사용 양상과 오류 유형을 파악한 후 이를 바탕으로 효과적인 추측 양태부사의 교육 방안을 제시하는 데 목적을 두고 연구를 진행하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 국립국어원 <한국어 학습자 말뭉치>의 원시 말뭉치 용례를 분석 자료로 선정하여 ‘아마’와 ‘혹시’의 사용 양상과 오류 유형을 분석하였다. 결과 말뭉치 분석 결과, 한국어 학습자들이 추측 양태부사의 사용에 어려움이 있음을 확인하였다. 추측 양태부사 ‘아마’와 ‘혹시’의 호응하는 표현으로 주로 단정적인 표현이나 추측이 아닌 표현과 함께 사용하거나, 각각의 의미 차이를 구별하지 못하여 상황에 맞는 적절한 표현을 사용하는 데 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 추측 양태부사 사용에 어려움이 있는 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 O-H-E 모형을 적용하여 ‘아마’와 ‘혹시’의 교육 방안을 제시하였으며, 이와 같은 연구는 유사 의미를 지닌 다양한 추측 양태부사의 이해 능력과 사용 능력 향상에 도움이 될 수 있으리라 여겨진다. Objectives This study proceeded with the study that aimed to suggest the appropriate education method for conjecture modality adverbs ‘ama’ and ‘hoksi’ through the analysis of use aspect and error type of Korean learners’ corpus. Methods To analyze ‘ama’ and ‘hoksi’ through the analysis of use aspect and error type, we chose the raw corpus examples of Korean learners’ at The National Institute of Korean Language as the analysis material. Results As a result, we found that learners have difficulty in using conjecture modality adverbs. They mainly used declaratory expressions or none-speculative expressions with conjecture modality adverbs ‘ama’ and ‘hoksi’ in responsive expression. Conclusions This study is able to present the education applied O(Operation)-H(Hypothesis)-E(Experiment) model plan for Korean learners who find difficulty in using ‘ama’ and ‘hoksi’. Also, it will provide valuable support in enhancing the understanding and usage ability of various conjecture modality adverbs which have similar meanings.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to obtain some knowledge concerning the scalp acupuncture treatment on patients with dementia for the future practice and research from clinical studies in China. Methods: The literatures were searched using the data base-China Academic Journals (CAJ) (2001-2011). Results: We found out 1 case study, and 17 randomized controlled trials (RCT) which met the inclusion criteria in most studies. There were 3 types of scalp acupuncture-applying method, cho-si scalp acupuncture(焦氏頭鍼法), combination of using ordinary acupoints(正經鍼) and extraordinary acupoints(經外寄穴), standard method of scalp acupuncture(標準頭鍼法). The often used acupoints are Yundongqu(運動區), Ganjuequ(感覺區), Yuntingqu(暈聽區), Zuyunganqu(足運感區), Sishencong (HN23), Baihui(GV20), Shenting(GV24), Fengchi(GB20), Dingnieqianxiexian(MS6), and Dingniehouxiexian(MS7). Conclusions: There were significant improvements on the scalp acupuncture-treated groups, compared to the control groups (western medication group or other acupuncture treatment group). Results of this study could be used for future studies concerning the scalp acupuncture for dementia.

The root of Saussurea lappa includes sesquiterpene lactones such as costunolide and dehydrocostus lactone, and has been shown to be anti-tumorigenic with being used in traditional medicinal therapy in the Eastern Asia. However, the molecular basis of the effects of Saussurea lappa on fate of gastric carcinoma, which incur very frequently in the area, has not been well identified. In this study, the cytostatic effects of Saussurea lappa were examined using gastric AGS cancer cells. Cell viability was dramatically reduced by Saussurea lappa, in a dose-dependent manner. As time passed after its treatment, apoptotic population was increased and clearly showed G2-arrest. Being consistent, its treatment resulted in maintaining of G1 and S-phase cyclins D1, E, and A even until a significant apoptotic population was observed, for example, at 24h after treatment. However, G2/M phase cyclin B1 was reduced even at 12 h after treatment. In addition, its treatment increased expression of p53, p21/sup Wafl / cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor (CKI), and Bax, resulted in cleavages of procaspase 3 and poly ADP-ribose polymerase(PARP), indicating that such G2 arrest- and apoptosis-related molecules are involved. Therefore, these suggest that extracts of Saussurea lappa root may be a safer and effective reagent to deal with gastric cancers either by traditional herbal therapy or combinational therapy with conventional chemotherapy.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a commonly used electron transport layer in quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). In this study, we used a highly conductive ZnO film via a low-temperature process to improve the electron transport behavior of the QLEDs. The electron transport behavior of ZnO film was investigated from the electron only device, and the origin of high conductivity was figured out using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We found that the oxygen vacancy, which can improve the carrier transport in ZnO film, was increased according to reduce the process temperature of ZnO. Meanwhile, the hydroxyl group, which contribute to the quenching effect, was decreased according to reduce the process temperature of ZnO. Therefore, high-performance QLEDs were fabricated using the low-temperature processed ZnO, and it showed an improved luminance and current efficiency in a full current range. The maximum luminance and current efficiency of the devices were measured as 65,391 Cd/m2 and 2.48 Cd/A, respectively. Moreover, the lifetime of the device was improved due to the low-temperature process. Therefore, we suggest that a highly conductive ZnO film could be formed through a lowtemperature process, and it can improve the performance of QLEDs.

<P>We developed a double-layer structured transparent electrode for use in flexible quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). Silver nanowires (AgNWs) and highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) were coated on a transparent substrate to obtain a highly conductive and flexible transparent electrode. The highly conductive PEDOT: PSS improved the surface roughness of the AgNWs transparent electrode film as well as the surface coverage area of the film. The double-layer structured transparent electrode showed superior mechanical properties than conventional indium-tin oxide (ITO) and AgNWs transparent electrodes. QLEDs with the double-layer structured transparent electrode also showed good reliability under cyclic bending conditions. These results indicate that the double-layer structured AgNWs/ PEDOT: PSS transparent electrode described here is a feasible alternative to ITO transparent electrodes for flexible QLEDs.
