Objective : The purpose of this report is to examine the effects of direct moxibustion in the Low back pain patient. Methods : Clinical studies were done 30 patients who were treated with low back pain to Dept. of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, of Oriental Medical Sang-Ji University from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004. We treated them by Oriental medical therapy(including direct moxibustion)for 10 days. The evaluation was performed five times(admission day, before and after each twice). Results : 1. VAS was decreased after direct moxibustion for 10 days significantly(p<0.01). 2. After direct moxibustion, S.L.R. T angle of patients were increased. ConclUsions : We brought to the conclusion that direct moxibustion has possibility to the efficient to cure the Low back pain. So we suggest the possibility to use this treatment for Low back pain.

Background/Aims Globus is a foreign body sense in the throat without dysphagia, odynophagia, esophageal motility disorders, or gastroesophageal reflux. The etiology is unclear. Previous studies suggested that increased upper esophageal sphincter pressure, gastroesophageal reflux and hypertonicity of esophageal body were possible etiologies. This study was to quantify the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) pressure, contractile front velocity (CFV), proximal contractile integral (PCI), distal contractile integral (DCI) and transition zone (TZ) in patient with globus gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) without globus, and normal controls to suggest the correlation of specific high-resolution manometry (HRM) findings and globus. Methods Fifty-seven globus patients, 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls were studied with HRM since 2009. We reviewed the reports, and selected 5 swallowing plots suitable for analysis in each report, analyzed each individual plot with ManoView. The 5 parameters from each plot in 57 globus patients were compared with that of 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls. Results There was no significant difference in the UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI. TZ (using 30 mmHg isobaric contour) in globus showed significant difference compared with normal controls and GERD patients. The median values of TZ were 4.26 cm (interquartile range [IQR], 2.30-5.85) in globus patients, 5.91 cm (IQR, 3.97-7.62) in GERD patients and 2.26 cm (IQR, 1.22-2.92) in normal controls (P = 0.001). Conclusions HRM analysis suggested that UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI were not associated with globus. Instead increased length of TZ may be correlated with globus. Further study comparing HRM results in globus patients within larger population needs to confirm their correlation. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2013;19:473-478)

An adaptive blind source separation algorithm with subband structure is proposed in this paper. In this approach mixed signals are decomposed into subband components by analysis filter bank. And the polyphase decomposed adaptive filters are employed in each subband. Simulation results to the speech signal demonstrate the good performance of the proposed algorithm.
A Survey of Dental Caries in Mongolia in 2014

Objective: The authors had conducted the oral health survey of Mongolian people with dual methods as direct oral examination by trained dentists and indirect method through taking the intra oral photos of the subjects by use of Nikon digital camera, in order to interpretate the image for finding the caries states of the subject people. Methods: One thousand three hundred seven persons of subject were examined in this dental survey, and classified with age distribution as 5, 9, 12, 15, 20s, 40s, and 60s years old at urban area of Ulaanbaatar area and the others at the rural areas at Bornuur as steppe area and at Mandalgovi as desert area. Results: Primary decayed tooth (dt), primary filled tooth (ft), and primary decayed, filled tooth (dft) index of Mongolian 5 years old were calculated as 6.25±4.56, 1.09±2.17, and 7.34±4.69 as high in caries incidence without treatment. Permanent decayed tooth (DT), permanent filled tooth (FT), permanent decayed, missing, filled tooth (DMFT) index of Mongolian 12 years old were as 2.37±2.76, 0.29±0.93 and 2.93±3.11, as high caries incidence without early treatment, and 12.1% of DMFT rate, 77.7% of DMF rate as the most children have been caries experienced. Conclusion: Oral health promotion and early treatment of caries in public oral health plan were recommended to promote the oral health level of Mongolian people.

<P><I>Bojesodok-eum</I> (BSE) is a herbal prescription consisting of <I>Coptidis Rhizoma</I> and <I>Scutellariae Radix</I> as main components. This paper investigated the effects of BSE on the induction of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E<SUB>2</SUB> (PGE<SUB>2</SUB>), and proinflammatory cytokines that are caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in murine macrophage cell line and on the paw edema formation in animals. Administration of BSE (0.3 g/kg and 1 g/kg) in rats significantly inhibited carrageenan-induced paw edema formation, as did dexamethasone, an anti-inflammatory positive control drug. In cell model, treatment of BSE decreased the production of NO and PGE<SUB>2</SUB> in RAW264.7 cells stimulated by LPS. BSE also inhibited the expression of iNOS and COX-2 protein as well as COX activity in a concentration-dependent manner. Consistently, BSE suppressed the ability of LPS to produce TNF-<I>α</I>, interleukin-1<I>β</I>, and interleukin-6. LPS treatment induced nuclear NF-<I>κ</I>B level and I-<I>κ</I>B<I>α</I> phosphorylation, which were inhibited subsequent treatment of BSE, suggesting its repression of LPS-inducible NF-<I>κ</I>B activation. BSE abrogated the induction of NO, PGE<SUB>2</SUB>, and proinflammatory cytokines, as well as iNOS and COX-2 protein expression in RAW264.7 cells stimulated by LPS as mediated with NF-<I>κ</I>B inhibition.</P>
A Unified Potentiostat for Electrochemical Glucose Sensors

A unified potentiostat circuit for both $O_2$- and $H_2O_2$- based electrochemical glucose sensors was proposed and its function was verified by circuit simulations and measurement results of a fabricated chip. This circuit consisted of an operational amplifier, a comparator and current mirrors. The proposed circuit was fabricated with a $0.13{\mu}m$ thick oxide CMOS process and an active area of $360{\mu}m{\times}100{\mu}m$. The measurements revealed an input operation range from 0.5 V to 1.6 V in the $H_2O_2$- based bio-sensor and from 1.7 V to 2.6 V in the $O_2$- based bio-sensor with a supply voltage of 3.3 V. The evaluation results showed that the proposed potentiostat circuit is suitable for measuring the electrochemical cell currents of both $O_2$- and $H_2O_2$- based glucose sensors.

Purpose: Oral sulfate tablets are abundantly used for bowel preparation before colonoscopy. However, their efficiency and safety for bowel preparation before colorectal surgery remain ill-defined. Herein, we aimed to compare the surgical site infection rates and efficiency between oral sulfate tablets and sodium picosulfate. Methods: We designed a prospective, randomized, phase 2 clinical trial. Patients with colorectal cancer aged 19–75 years who underwent elective bowel resection and anastomosis by minimally invasive surgery were administered oral sulfate tablets or sodium picosulfate. Eighty-three cases were analyzed from October 2020 to December 2021. Surgical site infection within 30 days after surgery was considered the primary endpoint. Postoperative morbidities, the degree of bowel cleansing, and tolerability were the secondary endpoints. Results: Surgical site infection was detected in 1 patient (2.5%) in the oral sulfate tablet group and 2 patients (4.7%) in the sodium picosulfate group, indicating no significant difference between the 2 groups. Postoperative morbidity and the degree of bowel cleansing bore no statistically significant differences. Furthermore, none of the investigated tolerability criteria, namely bloating, pain, nausea, vomiting, and discomfort, differed significantly between the 2 groups. The patients’ willingness to reuse the drug was also not significantly different between the 2 groups. Conclusion: Although we could not establish the noninferiority of oral sulfate tablets to sodium picosulfate, we found no evidence suggesting that oral sulfate tablets are less safe or tolerable than sodium picosulfate in preoperative bowel preparation.
