        The average indoor concentration of the library's TSP was 0.03 ng/m³. TAB in library and lounge in college of engineering showed higher concentrations in corridors than indoors. The correlation coefficient between TAB and humidity is 0.985, so it is judged that there is a significant need for humidity control in indoor air quality management to reduce the concentration of total suspended bacteria(p<0.01).

      • 흡연에 의한 급성 호산구성 폐렴 2예

        최근 흡연을 시작한 젊은 성언에서 급성 호산구성 폐렴의 발생에 대한 증례가 보고되고 있다. 급성 호산구성 폐렴은 대개 발열을 동반하기 때문에 초기에는 감염성 폐렴으로 잘못 진단, 치료되는 경우가 많다. 아직 정확한 병태 생리 및 조직학적 소견은 밝혀져 있지 않지만 병력 청취 및 임상 양상, 방사선 소견의 관찰을 통해 급성 호산구성 폐렴을 의심하고, 진단을 위해 기관지 폐포 세척액 검사를 시행한다면 좀 더 쉽게 진단 내릴 수 있을 것이다. 본 저자들은 최근 처음 시작한 흡연에 의해 발생한 급성 호산구성 폐렴을 진단하고, 스테로이드를 투여하여 성공적으로 치료한 환자 2예를 경험하였기에 이를 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Acute eosinophilic pneumonia(AEP) is characterized by acute febrile respiratory illness associated with diffuse pulmonary infiltration and pulmonary eosinophilia. The specific etiology for acute eosinophilic pneumonia is elusive. By some investigators, cigarette smoking is suggested as a causative substance which can cause AEP. In recent, the authors experienced two cases of AEP following cigarette smoking. Both cases had characteristic features including age around 20 years, new onset smoking before occurance of AEP, diffuse infiltration on chest radiography, pulmonary eosinophilia based on bronchoalveolar lavage and acute improvement after steroid therapy. These clinical features are resemble with previous smoking induced AEP case reports. Base on these clinical features, cigarette smoking associated AEP could be diagnosed more easily.

        부산타워의 경관조명 색채 변화에 따른 주관적 반응 평가

        This study aims to evaluate the exterior lighting image on Susan Tower, the most representative landmark in Susan, by research and analysis with Questionnaire surveys. It has been videoed and researched with references and field surveys in order to evaluate the subjective response. Questionnaire surveys were conducted by 88 P university students and were statistically analyzed by SPSS. The results of study are as follows: ① It is analyzed that the image of Susan Tower has been improved because of the exterior lighting, but the surveys show that its general contentment is not totally satisfied. ② The pictures shown in the surveys has been analyzed that there is no difference among them whether a picture is taken in one location or in any as long as it shows all parts of Susan Tower with the exterior lighting. ③ It is suggested that well-expressed 'beauty' is advantageous to improve its image quality and contentment. ④ Factors that shows the exterior lighting image of Susan Tower are as follows: its beauty, clearness, presentation, and familiarity.

        Development of Methyl 2-aminobenzoate Reference Material in a Biocidal Product Matrix

        The utilization of methyl 2-aminobenzoate as a biocide and pesticide has raised concerns regarding its potential tox- icity. To assess its safety, it is crucial to determine its quantity and related toxicity using reference materials (RMs) or certified reference materials (CRMs). As an RM and CRM containing methyl 2-aminobenzoate within a biocidal product matrix is cur- rently unavailable, this study aimed to produce a high-quality RM containing methyl 2-aminobenzoate, ensuring its homogene- ity and stability, following the ISO Guide 35 and ISO 17034. The study determined that the produced RM exhibited homogeneity, as indicated by a calculated F-value (1.91) smaller than the critical F-value (3.02). In the assessment of isochro- nous short-term stability, the slope of the linear regression for the RM showed no statistically significant difference from zero when stored at temperatures of 4, 18, and 60 °C for 4 weeks. Regarding classical long-term stability, the RM demonstrated sustained stability over the course of one year when stored at 4 °C. This study has successfully developed an RM for monitoring methyl 2-aminobenzoate in biocides and pesticides. Its quality underwent rigorous evaluation, confirming both homogeneity and stability.

      • Biofilter 를 이용한 VOC 처리특성 및 미생물 첨가에 의한 영향 연구

        The removal effects of VOC vapors in a pilot-scale biofilter have been studied. Biofiltration test was performed in a biofilter fed downward with contaminated air at ambient conditions. The biofilter was packed with the bark of a tree(1∼2 ㎝ size). The biofilter was operated under various inlet-airstream benzene concentrations. The flow-rate and temperature in the biofilter were 0.398 L/min., 5∼15℃, respectively. We investigated the removal efficiency variation of benzene with different concentrations were changed. Also, we studied the effects of VOC treatment when microorganisms (Pseudomonas) was added to the biofilter. The results showed that the removal efficiency was fairly improved by addition of microorganisms.

      • Immunological Staining of Antibodies in Early Stage of Oocyte Development in Porcines

        One of the most important issues in animal embryology is the ability of the oocyte to develop, that is, pluripotency. So, in this experiment, I want to get information about the early development of pluripotency by observing the presence of certain antibodies in the pluripotency. These results are expected to lead to positive results in many experiments including animal breeding and replication. In this experiment, CDX2, OCT4 and E-cadherin, among the many antibodies known to affect pluripotency, were observed for oocytes development in pigs. In mouse, CDX2 was found in late second stage development and OCT4 is known to be expressed specifically in the ICM region in blastocyst. E-cadherin was expressed in the junctional region of cells after the 2-cell stage. Blastocysts appeared in areas with junctions and cell walls. We observed the early stages of oocytes development in pigs based on PA (Parthenogenesis CDX2 and OCT4 were simultaneously imaged using an optical microscope in immunohisto chemical staining and compared to DAPI. E-cadherin was also experiment in the same way. In the development stage of oocyte development, CDX2 was expressed in blastocyst and expressed in nucleus except ICM (inner cell mass) region, and OCT4 was expressed in whole nucleus including ICM region in blastocyst. E-cadherin was expressed in the cell junctions and cell walls in the blastocyst. Our results showed that three antibody is pigs were expressed in pigs, as in mouses, and that they had an effect on pluripotency.

        Potential Utility of Fecal Calprotectin in Discriminating Colorectal Polyps From Other Major Etiologies in Children Presenting With Isolated Hematochezia

        Background: Colorectal polyps are the most common cause of isolated hematochezia in children, which requires a colonoscopy for diagnosis. We aimed to investigate the potential utility of fecal calprotectin (FC) in assessing colorectal polyps detected by colonoscopy among children presenting with isolated hematochezia. Methods: Pediatric patients of the age of < 18 years who had undergone both colonoscopy and FC tests for isolated hematochezia from June 2016 to May 2020 were included in the present multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional study. Comparative analysis was conducted between major causes of isolated hematochezia and FC cut-offs for discriminating colorectal polyps were explored. Results: A total 127 patients were included. Thirty-five patients (27.6%) had colorectal polyps, followed by anal fissure (14.2%), ulcerative colitis (UC; 12.6%), and others. A significant difference in FC levels was observed between patients with colorectal polyps (median, 278.7 mg/kg), anal fissures (median, 42.2 mg/kg), and UC (median, 981 mg/ kg) (P < 0.001). According to receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, among patients diagnosed with colorectal polyp or anal fissure, the most accurate FC cut-off for discriminating colorectal polyps from anal fissures on colonoscopy was 225 mg/kg (sensitivity, 59.4%; specificity, 94.4%; positive predictive value [PPV], 95.0%; negative predictive value [NPV], 56.7%; area under the curve [AUC], 0.8; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.678–0.923; P < 0.001), while among patients diagnosed with colorectal polyp or UC, the most accurate FC cut-off for discriminating colorectal polyps from UC on colonoscopy was 879 mg/kg (sensitivity, 81.2%; specificity, 56.2%; PPV, 78.8%; NPV, 60.0%; AUC, 0.687; 95% CI, 0.521–0.852; P < 0.001). Conclusion: FC may assist in assessing the cause of lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding in children who present with isolated hematochezia.

        Associations of Polyp Characteristics in Children and Adolescents Presenting with Less Than Five Colorectal Polyps: A Full Colonoscopy Is Still Required

        Background/Aims: A full colonoscopy is currently required in children and adolescents with colorectal polyps, because of their potential of neoplastic transformation and complications such as intussusception. We aimed to analyze the associations of polyp characteristics in children and adolescents with colorectal polyps. Based on these findings, we also aimed to reevaluate the necessity of conducting a full colonoscopy. Methods: Pediatric patients <18 years of age who had undergone a colonoscopic polypectomy and those with <5 colorectal polyps were included in this multicenter, retrospective study. Baseline clinicodemographics, colonoscopic and histologic findings were investigated. Results: A total of 91 patients were included. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that polyp size was the only factor associated with the presence of any polyps located proximal to the splenic flexure (odds ratio [OR], 2.25; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.28 to 4.28; p=0.007). Furthermore, polyp location proximal to the splenic flexure and sessile morphology were associated with the presence of any adenomatous polyp (OR, 8.51; 95% CI, 1.43 to 68.65; p=0.023; OR, 18.41; 95% CI, 3.45 to 173.81; p=0.002, respectively). Conclusions: In children and adolescents presenting with <5 colorectal polyps, polyp size and the presence of any adenomatous polyp were positively associated with polyp location proximal to the splenic flexure. This finding supports the necessity of a full colonoscopic exam in pediatric patients with colorectal polyps for the detection of polyps before the occurrence of complications such as intussusception or neoplastic transformation.

      • Nonvolatile Memory Thin-Film Transistors Using Biodegradable Chicken Albumen Gate Insulator and Oxide Semiconductor Channel on Eco-Friendly Paper Substrate

        <P>Nonvolatile memory thin-film transistors (TFTs) fabricated on paper substrates were proposed as one of the eco-friendly electronic devices. The gate stack was composed of chicken albumen gate insulator and In–Ga–Zn-O semiconducting channel layers. All the fabrication processes were performed below 120 °C. To improve the process compatibility of the synthethic paper substrate, an Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> thin film was introduced as adhesion and barrier layers by atomic layer deposition. The dielectric properties of biomaterial albumen gate insulator were also enhanced by the preparation of Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> capping layer. The nonvolatile bistabilities were realized by the switching phenomena of residual polarization within the albumen thin film. The fabricated device exhibited a counterclockwise hysteresis with a memory window of 11.8 V, high on/off ratio of approximately 1.1 × 10<SUP>6</SUP>, and high saturation mobility (μ<SUB>sat</SUB>) of 11.5 cm<SUP>2</SUP>/(V s). Furthermore, these device characteristics were not markedly degraded even after the delamination and under the bending situration. When the curvature radius was set as 5.3 cm, the <I>I</I><SUB>ON</SUB>/<I>I</I><SUB>OFF</SUB> ratio and μ<SUB>sat</SUB> were obtained to be 5.9 × 10<SUP>6</SUP> and 7.9 cm<SUP>2</SUP>/(V s), respectively.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/aamick/2015/aamick.2015.7.issue-8/am508834y/production/images/medium/am-2014-08834y_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/am508834y'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
