      • 소목(Caesalpina sappan L.) 추출물의 항균성과 김치숙성에 미치는 효과

        김치의 숙성을 지연시킬수 있는 천연물질을 검색하기 위하여 소목 ethanol추출물의 항균력을 조사하고 김치제조에 응용할 수 있는 가능성을 검토하기 위하여 소목 추출물 1%를 김치 제조시 첨가하여 10℃에서 숙성시키면서 그 변화를 관찰하였다. 소목 ethanol추출물은 유산균 4종류 7균주에 대하여 성장억제 효과를 나타내었으며 생균수 측정시에도 시험균주 모두에 대해 공히 1~4 log cycle의 항균효과를 나타내었다. 김치 숙성 중 소목 첨가구의 경우 숙성 기간동안 대조구에 비해 pH와 산도가 다소 높은 경항을 나타내었다. 소목 추출물을 첨가한 김치의 관능검사는 대조구와 첨가구간의 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았으며 sour taste의 경우에는 대조구에 비해 첨가구의 수치가 더 낮은 경향을 나타내었다. Antimicrobial effect of ethanol extracts of Caesalpina sappan Linne and its effects on kimchi fermentation were investigated. Antimicrobial activities of the extract against 4 kinds of lactic acid bacteria isolated from kimchi, such as Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus sake. Leuconostoc mesenteroides and Pedicoccus pentosaceus showed 1~4 log_(10) reduction during incubation for 12 hours. The growth of tested lactic acid bacteria did not occur in Caesalpina sappan Linne containing modified MRS broth except L. plantarum HSU02 and L. mesenteroides HSU14. The pH of kimchi containing 1% of Caesalpina sappan Linne extracts was higher than that of control but titratable acidity, total bacteria and Lactobacilli were lower than that of control during fermentation for 25 days at 10℃. Sour taste of Caesalpina sappan Linne containing kimchi was more weak than that of control. Sensory score of flavor and overall acceptability did not show significant difference between Caesalpina sappan Linne containing kimchi and control during fermentation.

        Accessory breast tissue is developed from persistence of breast tissue along the milk line which first beomes apparent at the 6th week of embryo and usually atrophies except for the thoracic area until the 9th week. It is much more common than amastia and occurs in approximately from 2 to 6 percent of the population. But multiple polymastia involving labia major is quite rare. We experienced one case of multiple polymastia involving labia majora & both axilla and 6 cases of polymastia & polyhelia, so we are willing to report our cases with a review of literature.

      • Listeria monocytogenes Scott A 의 성장과 열저항성에 미치는 유기산의 영향

        유기산(acetic, tartaric, propionic, citric 그리고 lactic acid)에 의한 L. monocytogenes Scott A의 성장과 열저항성에 미치는 영향을 겸토한 결과 각 유기산 0.1%를 첨가한 경우 배양 48시간 동안 대조구에 비해 뚜렷한 성장억제현상이 관찰되었으며, 배양중 pH는 대수적 증식 말기인 12시간째 대조구 5.17, propionic acid첨가구 5.57인 반면 그외 유기산 첨가구의 pH는 4.60~4.88였다. 0.2%의 유기산을 첨가한 경우 acetic acid 또는 propionic acid 첨가구에서는 배양 48시간 동안 성장이 거의 일어나지 않았다. 각 유기산으로 pH 5.0과 6.0으로 조절한 TSB를 기질로 사용하여 65℃에서 1분간 처리하여 열저항성을 비교한 결과 pH 5.0에서는 유기산의 종류에 따라 열처리 효과는 상이하였으며, citric acid 또는 propionic acid 처리구의 log reduction이 각각 1.56, 1.79로 열처리 효과가 가장 높았으며 pH 6.0에서 열처리효과는 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. 각 유기산을 사용하여 pH 5.0과 6.0으로 조절한 0.1M sodium phosphate를 열처리 기질로 사용한 경우 pH 5.0에서 propionic acid처리구와 lactic acid의 처리구의 열처리효과가 가장 높았다. TSB에 유기산을 첨가하여 pH 5.0으로 조절한 후 65℃에서 adherent microlony의 열저항성을 검토한 결과 propionic acid처리구의 log reduction은 1.21을 나타내어 열처리효과가 가장 높은 것으로 관찰되었으며, adherent microcolony는 planktonic cell에 비해 강한 열저항성을 나타내었다. The effects of organic acids on growth and heat resistance of Listeria monocytogenes Scott A were investigated. The growth of L. monocytogenes was inhibited in Tryptic Soy Broth(TSB) with 0.1 or 0.2% of acetic, tartic, propionic, citric and lactic acid at 35℃, respectively. The growth of L. monocytogenes did not occur in TSB with 0.2% of acetic acid or propionic acid during 48h of incubation. The heat resistance of L. monocytogenes was affected by kind of organic acid, pH and heating substrate. L. monocytogenes showed more heat resistant in TSB with various organic acids than in 0.1M sodium phosphate with the same organic acids. Heat resistance decreased as pH of heating substrate decreased. Surface-adherent microcolony was more heat resistant than planktonic cell of L. monocytogenes. Propionic and lactic acids more affected on heat resistance of L. monocytogenes than acetic, tartaric and citric acids.

        The word "Qi-Gong" firstly originated from Taoism in the Jin era means to concentrate true energy and to cultivate new energy and thus to make our vitality strong. Qi-Gong, which means breathing method and physical exercise had been developed in various directions from ancient China. "Zhubingyuanhoulun" intensively summarized these various methods for Qi-Gong, and the theory of Qi-Gong as practical treatment. Through this study, this author attempted to newly define the essences of Breathing training method and to review the conception, the history in "Zhubingyuanhoulun".

      • 哮喘의 原因과 治法에 대한 硏究(中醫雜誌를 中心으로)

        This is the study on causes and remedies of asthma in chinese medical journals(1994-1999). The results were as follows. 1. Asthma is almost caused by phlegm(痰), and related to lung, spleen, and kidney. 2. In view of remedy, curing both superficial and original symptoms is better than curing only superficial symptoms. 3. In treatment, they use controlling(pull down and scatter) functional activity of the lung (肺氣宣降), supporting original vital energy(扶正固本), warming the kidney function and invigorating the spleen(溫腎健痺), promoting the function of Fu(腑) and removing heat from the lung(通腑瀉肺) 4. In view of remedy, they use various methods(f.e. injection, patch etc.) besides taking herb medicine.

        The ward 'coaching' means actions of coaches. But the word 'coaching' is weasel, and the meaning of this word is differentiated. This view about the differentiation of the meaning is based on following reasons : 1. Many scholars in America referred to the coaching as teaching in their studies on physical education or coaching. This means that 'coaching' is identified with 'teaching' , or 'coaching' includes 'teaching' , That is to say, the meaning of 'coaching' is differentiated to athletic leadings and educational leadings; 2. The coach as the actor of coaching is demanded to play multiple roles. This word 'role' means expectant actions that ought to be done as the coaching position. However, by the word 'coaching' that means the actions of coaches, it can not mean every expectant action of coaches. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the concept of coaching For that purpose, this study tried to grasp the concept of coaching as a chain of actions that does not mean a passing phase in the action of coaches but a time series of the action toward some goals. So, this study brought in the concept of administration as a conceptual tool, and examined on the concept of coaching (administration). As the result of this study, the concept of coaching (administration) could be characterized as follows : 1. The concept of coaching (administration) means a certain process toward some goals, This process of coaching (administration) subsumes the administrative phase as policy making and the managerial phase as policy implementation The phase of policy making includes the stage of examination on goals themselves. 2. The concept of coaching (administration) means the manipulation of men by men about goals, and coaching (administration) must resolve the tension between the human concerns of individual team members and the overriding the winning as organizational purposes, so the process of coaching (administration) includes the stage of philosophy that quests human values.

      • 瀉白散의 肥滿細胞 嫫介性 炎症性 細胞活性物質 分泌 抑制 效果

        Ocjective : Sabaeksan has been used for the purpose of prevention and treatment of bronchial asthma and allergic asthma in korea. Methods : To investigate the biological effect of Sabaeksan, the author examined cytotoxicity and inflammatory cytokines secretion with human leukemic mast cell line, HMC-1. HMC-1 was stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and calcium ionophore A23187. Sabaeksan by itself had no effect on viability of HMC-1. Result : The effects of Sabaeksan on the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin (IL)-6 from HMC-1 were evaluated with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Sabaeksan (1 mg/㎖) inhibited PMA plus A23187-stimulated TNF-α and IL-6 secretion, by 43.86 ± 5.26%, 56.39 ± 3.65%, respectively. Sabaeksan also inhibited the NF-κB (p50/p65) expression. Conclusion : Taken together, these results suggest that Sabaeksan inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in HMC-1 cells through blockade of NF-κB activation.

      • 고령자의 근력 및 전신이동능력과 일상생활의 주관적인 활동능력과의 관련성 분석

        The purpose of this study were (1) to determine the changes in functional fitness with aging, and (2) to assess the relationship of muscular strength and locomotion ability with subjective functional fitness. The subjects were 479 Korean women(65+ years) living in Seoul, Taegu, and Jinju cities. Korea. The average age was 72.0±4.8. Thirteen objective functional fitness items and 11 subjective functional fitness questionnaire items associated with their daily living were measured. Results of data analysis indicated that the muscular strength and locomotion ability decreased considerably with aging. The relationship between the objective functional fitness and the subjective functional fitness was significant in 10 items. It is suggested that maintenance and promotion of muscular strength and locomotion ability may be important in order to raise the level of independence in daily living of older Korean women.

      • 건강여성의 최대산소섭취량, 혈청지질, 체조성, 골밀도의 가령변화 및 습관적 운동의 영향

        The results were as follows: 1. VO₂max(r=-0.590) and HRmax(r= -0.632) decrease significantly with age. The VO₂ max of the EX group was significantly higher than that of the Cont group in all each groups. However no differences in the aging process in terms of HRmax were found between the two groups. 2. Resting SBP(r=-0.391) and DBP(r=0.315) increase significantly with age. However no hypertensive individuals(160/95mmHg~) were found among the 165 subjects. 3. Only serum TC(r=0.346) and L㎗-C(r=0.339) among the blood constituents measured changed with age. No changes in serum H㎗-C were detected with age. Lower TC (189.2±23.3mg/㎗) and higher H㎗-C(72.2±10.9mg/㎗) were observed in eleven runners (49.7±7.7years) among the subjects who participated frequently in official races than in subjects of the same ages in the Cont group. The highest serum H㎗-C(75.8±15.8mg/㎗) and H㎗-C/TC ratios(0.362) were noticed among the subjects(n=26) who both regularly exercised and consumed alcoholic beverages. 4. A tendercy for FTM to increase and LTM to decrease with age were observed in both groups, and a lower %FTM(percentage of FTM to body weight) and higher %LTM were evident in the Ex group. Differences in %FTM and %LTM between the Ex and Cont groups at 40~45 years were significant. 5. Partial and whole BMDs decreased significant with age(TBMD-Age: r=-0.527). Significantly higher leg BMDs in both the 20~39-year and 40~45-year groups, and spine and TBMD in the 20~39 years in the Ex group, who were premenopausal women, were shown. No significant differences in BMDs between the two groups were observed in postmenopausal women, but the Ex group tended to have higher partial and whole BMDs. The postmenopausal official race runners (n=5,52.6±1.5 years) also had higher TBMD and leg BMD values than subjects of the same ages in the Cont group. 6. Investigation of correlations between V02max, LTM, FTM, BMDs and serum lipid concentrations, yielded a significantly higher correlation(r=0.669) between LTM(㎏) and absolute V0₂max(l/min). Although VO₂max per LTM(VO₂max/LTM) decreased with age(r=-0.595), VO₂max/LTM in the Ex group significantly higher than in the Cont group in each age group. The VO₂max per body weight(㎖/㎏/min) was negatively correlated with %FTM(r=-0.442) and positively correlated with %LTM(r=0.422). There were no correlations between VO₂max and serum TC levels or H㎗-C concentrations. BMD was strongly correlated with body weight, especially LTM, in addition to the aging process. VO₂max per body weight was not always highly correlated with TBMD(r=0.354, p<0.001). Stepwise multiple regression analysis yielded the following regression equations: TBMD(g·cm^-2)=0.9525-0.0045xAge+0.0059×FTM(㎏)+0.0072xLTM(㎏) VO₂max(㎖· ㎏^-1· min^-1)=47.97-0.391×Age+0.175xLeg BMD-0.531×%FTM(%)
