한국인에서 도파민 D4 수용체 다형성과 Novelty Seeking 성격 특성의 연관성

연구목적 : 저자들은 한국인에서 도파민 D4 수용체(DRD4) 유전자의 다형성과 성격의 관련성을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법 : 173명의 건강한 한국인 여자 청소년(13.88±0.29세)을 대상으로 하여 성격 기질 설문지(Temperament and Character Inventory : TCI)를 작성하도록 하였으며, 이들에서 DRD4 exon Ⅲ 48-bp VNTR(variable numbers of tandem repeats) 다형성을 분석하였다. 결 과 : DRD4 exon Ⅲ Vntr에서 긴 대립유전자(≥5 repeats)를 가진 군이 긴 대립유전자를 가지지 않은군에 비하여 Novelty Seeking 척도 점수가 유의하게 높았다(t=2.11,p=0.037). 결 론 : 본 연구 결과는 DRD4-exon Ⅲ의 긴 대립유전자가 Novelty Seeking 성격과 관련이 있다는 기존의 외국에서의 연구결과를 다시금 확인해주는 것이다. Objectives : We investigated the relationship of personality traits with dopamine D4 receptor(DRD4) exon Ⅲ polymorphism in a Korean population. Methods : We analysed DRD4 exon Ⅲ 48-bp repeats polymorphism in 173 Korean heakthy female adolescents(age=13.88±0.29years) who also completed Temperament and Charater Inventory(TCI). Results : Novelty seeking score of the TCI was significantly higher in the subjects with DRD4 long alleles(≥5 repeats) compares with the subjects without these (t=2.11, p=0.037). Conclusion : The present study supports the previous reports that long repeats of the DRD4-exon Ⅲ polymorphism are relatedwith Novelty Seeking personality.
Anti-osteoporotic Effects of Sericin-Calcium Conjugate in Ovariectomized Rats

This study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of sericin-calcium (SC) as therapy for ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats. Three weeks after ovariectomy (OVX), Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into three groups: sham-operated group (Sham), ovariectomized group, and SC-treatment group (OVX+SC). Rats in the OVX+SC group were given drinking water containing 0.07% SC for eight weeks. Bone breaking force, mineralization, and blood parameters related to bone metabolism were analyzed. In OVX animals, blood concentration of 17β-estradiol showed a significant decrease, while osteocalcin and type I collagen C-terminal telopeptides (CTx) showed an increase. Breaking force of femurs as well as bone mineral density (BMD), ash, calcium, and phosphorus in femurs showed a significant decrease following OVX. Treatment with SC (0.07% in drinking water) resulted not only in remarkable restoration of the decreased 17β-estradiol and increased osteocalcin and CTx concentrations, but also led to recovery of decreased femoral breaking force, BMD, ash, calcium, and phosphorus. It is suggested that SC effectively improves bone density by preventing bone turnover-mediated osteocalcin, CTx, and minerals, and that it could be a potential candidate for use in therapy or prevention of post-menopausal osteoporosis.
임신성 융모성 질환에서 혈청 β-hCG 의 소실기간과 양상에 관한 연구

Objectives : It is now conventional practice to use human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) as the marker of tumor activity in gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). The interpretation of serial serum β-hCG regression patterns is important in monitoring the course of the disease. The purpose of this study was to establish a regression time and pattern of the serum β-hCG in which GTD is divided into hydatidiform mole and malignant trophoblastic disease. Materials & Methods : During the period from January 1990 through December 2000, 46 patients with GTD were histopathologically diagnosed and treated at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hanyang University Hospital. For the purpose of analysis and comparison, patients were divided into 19 cases of hydatidiform mole and 27 cases of malignant trophoblastic disease which was subdivided into nonmetastatic (17) and metastatic (10). Patients were followed clinically and by weekly estimations of quantitative serum β-hCG until negative (<3 mIU/ml). After three consecutive negative β-hCG, serum β-hCG were drawn monthly in all patients for one year. The level of serum β-hCG was detected by two-site sandwich immunoassay (Chiron Diagnostics Automated Chemiluminescence System 180). The obtained data were analyzed using t test and ANOVA test by SPSS. Results : The incidence of the GTD compared with delivery was one per 182.7 deliveries. The mean value of serum β-hCG regression time in hydatidiform mole was 12.8±1.1 (SEM) weeks (7.0-26.0 weeks) and 17.9±1.4 (SEM) weeks (8.0-34.0 weeks) in malignant trophoblastic disease. The regression time was significantly shorter in hydatidiform mole than that of malignant trophoblastic disease (P<0.01). The differences of mean value of serum β-hCG regression time between the groups with nonmetastatic (18.0 weeks) and metastatic (17.8 weeks) were not statistically significant(P =0.946). The mean values of serum β-hCG in both hydatidiform mole and malignant trophoblastic disease declined following a log-normal distribution. Conclusions : The regression pattern of serum β-hCG in present study was similar to that of which in Western and also similar to that of which in Korea in 1980s. The present study supports the continued use of individual patients serum β-hCG regression curve to make treatment decision and to recognize malignant trophoblastic disease promptly.
